So I've realized I don't really update when I say I will. I will try to be better about that. I greatly appreciate your patience.

Chapter 11: Out in the Open

"Pssst, Elsa. Wake up." Anna hovered over her sister who was still asleep on the couch in the living room. She was sprawled out on her stomach with her hand resting on the pillow next to her head. Anna lifted Elsa's hand and let it fall back down on to the pillow. Elsa remained fast asleep.

Anna knelt down next to the couch. "Elsa, your favorite sister in the whole wide world wants you to wake up now." Elsa didn't budge.

Anna groaned in disappointment. She stood up and squeezed herself onto the little bit of space Elsa wasn't occupying. She started to run her fingers through Elsa's tangled hair. I never realized how adorable she looked when she sleeps. She moved her hand from Elsa's hair down to her waistline. She fiddled with the hem of Elsa's shirt before finally working her way under it. Anna brushed her hand gently up the length of Elsa's back until she reached the clip of her sister's bra.

For a brief moment, Anna contemplated unhooking the clip. She did not want Elsa waking up to find that her bra had been mysteriously undone however. Anna slipped her fingers through the clip and unclasped it anyway.

Nothing wrong with giving your sister a back rub while she sleeps. She crept her fingers along Elsa's upper back. As she worked her way back down, Elsa began to fidget. Anna froze, keeping her hand buried under Elsa's shirt. She noticed Elsa's eyes begin to open and quickly yanked her hand away down into her lap.

Elsa yawned and sluggishly pushed herself up off of her stomach. She leaned her back against the couch and crossed her legs. Once she was entirely awake, she noticed Anna sitting next to her on the couch.

"Morning," Elsa said groggily.

"I was just about to wake you up. That's why I'm sitting here. Next to you. In this spot." Anna's uneasiness was apparent.

"Well I'm up," Elsa replied. She raised a brow and started rotating her shoulders. "Why do I feel like my bra is unhooked?"

Anna turned her head away trying to hide her guilt that was obvious on her blushing face.

Elsa reached around her back and re-hooked her bra. "Much better," Elsa said with a sigh of relief. She leaned forward and rested her chin on Anna's shoulder. "So what's the plan for today?"

Anna's palms began to sweat. She rubbed her hands on her shorts trying to hide her nervousness. "Umm…we can uh…do whatever you want to do. I'm sure whatever you decide will be perfect."

"Hmmmmmm," Elsa lifted her head off of Anna's shoulder and gasped excitedly. "Well, I do know one thing we could do that we haven't done in a while."

Anna just gave Elsa an expecting look.

"We haven't been to Cutie Pies in weeks, and it is Saturday. What would you say about going to your favorite place in the whole wide world?"

Anna brushed a strand of hair behind her ear. "I don't know Elsa. When I think of that place I think of…" Anna's words trailed off into silence.

"We don't have to Anna. If it makes you feel uncomfortable then I'm not going to force you." Elsa scooted closer to Anna. She wrapped her arms around her sister's stomach and placed her chin on her shoulder again. "We can just stay home and laze around if you want. Watch some movies, break out the ice cream."

Anna shifted in her seat and started to place her hands over Elsa's.

"Oh sorry, is this too much?" Elsa started removing her arms from Anna's body. Anna quickly grabbed Elsa's hands and positioned them back around her waist. "Oh, um…you sure that this isn't too much?" Elsa asked surprised.

Anna ignored Elsa's question. "You know, on second thought, pie sounds pretty good," Anna said softly.

"Anna, if you don't feel comfortable going then we really don't have to. It's perfectly fine with me if we stay home."

"I want to go," Anna responded. "You'll just have to protect me. Keep me safe."

Elsa smiled. "I promise to keep you safe," she said reassuringly.

"I thought I heard you two out here." Both girls turned to see Kristoff lumbering down the hallway. Elsa removed her arms from Anna's body and leaned back. Anna mentally groaned. Come back...

"And Kristoff can provide a little extra muscle if need be," Elsa said pointing her thumb at him.

Kristoff plopped down on the arm of the couch. Anna dropped down to the floor for more room.

"Why do we need my muscle?"

"To protect us from the forces of darkness of course," Elsa joked.

"Oh, that's what I thought. Fine with me. I'm ready for some adventure today," Kristoff said playing along. "So, what evil needs to be vanquished?"

"Well we've gotten reports of rock trolls down at the kingdom of Cutie Pies that need slaying. They're keeping all of the kingdom's delicious pies to themselves. We must put a stop to it." Elsa put her hand on Kristoff's shoulder. "Can you handle this quest?"

Anna sat back and enjoyed the strangely amusing conversation that was taking place in front of her.

"It will be done your highness." Kristoff stood up and bowed. "Once I am properly equipped we can embark on this journey." He took one step back down the hallway before turning back to Elsa.

"Just to be clear, we are going to get pie, right?"

"Duh," Elsa replied with a giggle.

"Just making sure." Kristoff walked away and disappeared into his room.

Elsa looked down at Anna who had a charmed expression strewn across her face. "What's so funny?" Elsa asked.

"You are adorably weird, you know that?"

Elsa blushed. "Hopefully that's a good thing."

"It's a very good thing," Anna replied. Elsa's redness intensified. Anna sat silently, staring at her sister with the same adoring expression.

"Why do you keep staring at me?" Elsa asked curiously.

Anna dropped her arms and averted her gaze. "Was I staring? Sorry. I should work on that," Anna fidgeted anxiously. "Kristoff, are you ready yet?" she yelled shifting the topic of the conversation.

"Impatient this morning," he replied reemerging from his room. "You two are still in your sleeping clothes, I should be telling you to get ready."

"It's a breakfast place; nobody cares how you look there."

"She makes a good point, Kristoff," Elsa added. "Besides, you referred to me as 'your highness' therefore I am royalty. Therefore, because she is my sister, she is also royalty. We can wear whatever we please."

"She's not technically your sister."

"And you're not technically her cousin," Elsa responded quickly. "But we're more of a family then most actual families."

"This is extremely true," Kristoff replied contently. "Then we ride!" he exclaimed raising his fist.

Anna watched in disgust as Kristoff voraciously devoured the pie in front of him. He paused every few seconds or so only to take a breath and then resumed stuffing his face.

Anna pushed her half-eaten pie away from her. "Kristoff, if I have to watch you eat any more, I think I'm going to be sick."

"If you throw up, make sure to keep it off of my pie," he replied with filled cheeks.

Anna noticed that Elsa was still able to eat her pie despite the animal that was feasting next to her. "How can you still eat with this going on," she said as she gestured to Kristoff.

"As long as I keep my eyes on you I'm perfectly fine," Elsa replied contently.

Anna did not know how to respond. She simply stared back at Elsa with a blank expression.

"Sorry!" Elsa said. "I shouldn't say things like that. I'm really sorry."

"No, no, no!" Anna responded quickly. "I'll take compliments anytime. Especially if they come from my sister." Anna grabbed her fork and stuffed a bite of Elsa's pie into her mouth.

"I thought you couldn't eat anymore," Elsa said teasingly.

"As long as I keep my eyes on you, I think I'll be just fine," Anna replied affectionately.

Elsa bit her lip and smiled.

Anna's focus was broken when Kristoff shoved his arm in front of her and pulled her pie in. He shoved his pan aside and dug in once again.

"Excuse you," Anna snapped.

"What? You weren't eating it. No point in letting it go to waste." Kristoff pointed his fork at Elsa flinging, pie onto her shirt. "Besides, you two were so busy eye-fucking each other I didn't think you would mind."

Both girls turned bright red. Elsa stood up and nervously stumbled towards the bathroom. "I'll be right back. I have to uh...go clean my shirt off. Be right back." She scurried away from the table and into the bathroom.

Anna angrily shifted in her seat and faced Kristoff. She gave him a swift smack on the back of the head.

"Ow!" he yelled rubbing his head. "What was that for?"

"We were not eye-fucking each other you ass!"

"It was just a joke feisty-pants, my lord."

Anna crossed her arms and looked towards the bathroom, waiting for Elsa to return. "I didn't find it very funny."

"I will keep that in mind," Kristoff replied irritated. "Why are you getting so defensive anyway?"

Anna sighed deeply. "I don't know Kristoff. I've just been having some conflicting feelings lately. Sorry for getting you caught up in my emotional storm."

"I've got a thick skull, don't worry about," he replied jokingly.

Anna just flashed him a half smile.

"So, what kind of 'conflicting feelings' are you dealing with exactly?"

"It's kind of hard to explain."

"We've got time. Start explaining."

"It's just, ever since...that night, I've had what you might call, some newly discovered feelings."

Kristoff gave her a look of confusion. "You're going to have to elaborate on that."

Anna groaned. "Maybe it would be easier if I tell you what happened."

"Well don't just sit there. Share."

"Just promise me that after I tell you, you will still see Elsa as your cousin, nothing less."

"It can't be that bad, Anna."

"Just promise me, okay?"

"Alright, I promise."

"Thank you," Anna replied. "So this is what happened."

Elsa anxiously scrubbed her shirt with paper towels. Once she rid her shirt of the pie stains, she leaned forward, placing her hands on the edge of the sink. She stared at herself in the mirror. Her cheeks were still bright red from Kristoff's comment. She splashed water on her face, hoping it would wash the embarrassment away.

What is going on with Anna? She's acting different. I mean, it's a good different. It's the best kind of different but it's...unexpected.

She rubbed her temples, trying to make wrap her head around her sister's obscure behavior.

Just go back out there and be normal. Hide your feelings. Anna doesn't need to deal with this again.

Elsa exhaled deeply. Get your game face on.

Kristoff leaned back in the booth trying to process what Anna had just told him. "I can see now why my joke wasn't funny."

"Kristoff, I need your help. I don't know what to feel," Anna said with a shaky voice. "Do I just accept these feelings, or do I shut her out and pretend like I'm not about to explode from pent up emotions?" Anna waited for an answer. "Tell me!"

Before Kristoff could respond, Elsa walked out of the bathroom.

"We'll talk about this later," he said in a hushed tone.

Elsa returned to her seat. "What were you guys talking about?"

"Nothing important," Anna quickly responded.

"Well, I wouldn't say that..." Kristoff said.

Anna kicked him and shot him a death glare.

"Umm, okay..." Elsa replied confused. "So are you guys ready to go?"

Anna and Kristoff nodded and the three of them stood up.

"So what do you guys want to do next?" Elsa asked.

"How about we..." Anna was interrupted by the sound of Elsa's ringing phone.

Elsa fished into her pocket and answered the call.

"Hello?" She paused. "Are you serious? That's such a relief to hear!" She paused again. "Thank you very much, I will let her know. Goodbye."

She hung up her phone and stared at Anna with a thrilled expression.

"What are you so happy about?" she asked.

Elsa pulled Anna into a tight embrace. "It's over Anna. We don't have to be afraid anymore," she whispered.

"What the heck are you talking about?"

Elsa released Anna from her hug but kept her hands on her shoulders. "That was officer Olafski. They caught him!"

Anna's eyes widened. "Weselton? They caught Weselton?"

Elsa nodded excitedly. Anna pulled her sister back into her arms. She squeezed her as tight as she could.

"They caught him!? That's fantastic news!" Kristoff said cheerfully as he patted both girls on the back.

Elsa could feel her shoulder becoming wet from Anna's tears. When she pulled back, she could see that her eyes were red and puffy. "Dangit Anna, you know when you cry, it means I have to start crying too," Elsa said jokingly.

"At least they're tears of joy this time," Anna replied laughing.

"Well, I'd say this calls for a celebration. What do you say girls?"

"You're damn right this calls for celebration," Anna responded excitedly.

"I'm down," Elsa added.

"Then I say we do this," Kristoff said. "We party at my place tonight. Get some of that feel-good juice, crack it open, and drink until the morning light!"

"Yes! Love it!" Anna shouted.

"I'm not usually one for getting wasted but I think I can make an exception tonight," Elsa replied.

"Awesome. It's a little too early for me to start drinking though so we'll need to kill some time." Kristoff rubbed his hands together in delight. "But there's no doubt that tonight is going to be a hell of a night!"

"Hey blondie, pass me another beer."

Elsa reached into the case and pulled out another can handing it to Kristoff. "Jesus, how are you not passed out yet? This is like your fifth beer."

"I know how to hold my alcohol," he replied confidently. "I'm not even tipsy yet." He took a swig of beer and pointed at Anna. "Now little red here is damn near wasted."

"Pfff, I'm perfectly fine you jackass," Anna replied with slurred words. "I'm judge as a sober."

"Alright Anna, I think it's about time we cut you off," Elsa said reaching for Anna's beer.

She quickly jerked it away. "Noooooooo," Anna said in a childish voice. "I thought we were celebrating."

"I think you might be celebrating a bit too much. Give me the beer." Elsa held out her hand.

"How about I give you something else instead," Anna said with seduction in her voice. She scooted closer to Elsa and sat up on her knees. "Come here," she said quietly.

Elsa became confused. "Why? What do you need to give…" Elsa was quieted by Anna's finger over her mouth.

"Shhhhh." Anna placed her hands on Elsa's cheeks and pulled her into her lips.

At first Elsa was taken by surprise. After a few moments, she accepted what was happening and closed her eyes. She placed her hands on Anna's waist and fully returned the kiss.

Anna broke lip contact and giggled. "Now, isn't that better than some stupid little beer?"

"So much better," Elsa replied as she slowly opened her eyes.

Anna just replied with a cute giggle. She yawned and fell back onto the floor. "Nighty night," she said sleepily. Within seconds Anna was passed out.

Elsa was so distracted by what had just occurred, she had forgotten Kristoff was still in the room. "I guess I'm a little more drunk than I thought," Elsa said with a fake laugh.

Kristoff set his beer down and stood up. He slid his hands under Anna and picked her up off of the floor. Elsa watched as he carried her down the hall into the guest bedroom.

"Fantastic, I just scarred another family member," Elsa mumbled to herself.

After a minute or two Kristoff came walking back down the hallway and took a seat next to Elsa on the floor.

Elsa continued to blame the alcohol for her actions. "Maybe you should cut me off. I'm feeling a little tipsy myself." She once again let out a panicky laugh.

Kristoff raised his hand, silencing Elsa. "Save it blondie. You and I both know that the beer had no part in this."

"Sure it did," she quickly responded. "I mean, I've had like two."

"Elsa, I know when people are drunk. It's somewhat of a skill and I know for a fact you're as sober as can be right now."

Elsa was left speechless. Her excuse had run its course.

"I saw the way you leaned into that kiss. You enjoyed it."

"I did not! I told you that…"

"I know what you told me," he interjected. "So how about I tell you something." Elsa stared at him with nervous eyes. "Anna told me what happened Elsa. I know that you kissed her a few weeks back."

Elsa's face turned white as her heart dropped into her stomach. "Oh I see….so I suppose you want nothing to do with me now," she said solemnly.

"Would I be sitting here right now if that was the case?" Elsa shook her head. "Exactly. I'm talking to you because I want you to know that you are still my cousin. Nothing can change that."

Elsa was stunned. "That's not the response I was expecting."

"It's the truth. To be honest, when she first told me I wasn't too sure what to think about it. But now I know exactly what I think."

"And what do you think?"

"If that's how you want things to be between you two, then who am I to stand in the way of your happiness." Kristoff wrapped his arm around Elsa's shoulder and pulled her in close. "You're family, and I want my family to be happy."

Elsa threw her arms around her cousin's waist. "Oh thank you for not turning away Kristoff. I don't think I could have handled that again," she said with a trembling voice.

The two sat silently in each other's embrace before Elsa spoke up again. "There's just one problem though. Anna doesn't feel the same way about me. I'm still just a sister to her."

"I wouldn't be so sure about that."

"She was drunk; she didn't know what she was doing. It wasn't real," Elsa said a bit saddened.

"She knew full well what she was doing, Elsa. You really think that was just the beer making her act like that?"

"Well, maybe. I don't know Kristoff. How can I be sure?"

"Just sit her down tomorrow and have a 'sisterly' talk. See if she remembers what happened. Then just go from there, alright?"

Elsa exhaled deeply. "Alright, but if it backfires I'm blaming you," she said pointing at her cousin.

"Fine by me," he replied as he ruffled Elsa's hair. He pulled out his phone and checked the time. "Damn, it's after 1 o'clock. Time flies when you're getting drunk. Might want to get some sleep. You have a big day tomorrow."

Elsa smiled and crawled up onto the couch. Kristoff stood up soon after and made his way toward his bedroom.

"Hey Kristoff." He stopped and looked back. "Thanks again for standing by me."

"No problem cos." He winked and disappeared into his room.

Elsa pulled the blanket over her and drifted off to sleep.
