Chapter Eight: A New School Life And A Visit To A Memory
"We made it on time! Oh my god I never thought this day would come. I just want to say a huge thank you to all my friends, Momo, Syo, and Yuusuke-senpai. To my parents, okaa-san, oto-san, onii-chan… Arigatou for your support. This day has been long awaited and will… probably never happen again!" Shin said dramatically, he knelt on one knee, held a hand to his heart and one to the sky.
"Yeahhh~. Okay whatever, lets go." Momo said all walking passed him holding in their laughter.
"Ah! You all wound me!" he quickly rose and chased after them, wrapping arms around his two best friends as they filled the air with laughter.
"Huh?" the redhead stopped.
"What is it, Yuusuke-nii?" Syo asked.
"Azusa?" he pointed in confusion.
"Azu-nii? What are you doing here?" the blond asked when the twin arrived next to them. All the girls gossiping on the handsome man before them who was oblivious to their looks.
"You don't know?" he seemed shocked.
"Well we wouldn't be like this if we di-." Yuusuke began to say but his voice was drowned out by screams of fangirls who surrounded the gates they had walked through just ten minutes before.
"Ah well…" the twin began to say scratching the back of his head and looked in the direction of the fangirls.
What!?
The figure that broke through the crowed was the last person he expected to see. The girls fawned over him, hearts practically popped out their eyes which followed his every step to Syo and the others and stopped a few inches away with his trademark mischievous smirk. His uniform was like the blonds, just seemed to fit better as he was taller. He did a slight bow to them before placing a hand on the blonds shoulder.
"Please look after me from now on… Baka-chan~." he smirked at the blonds dumbfounded face, pleased with the reaction and how fun his life was about to become.
The blond sat nervously at the back, as he stared out the window, his emerald orbs glistened a bright green from the sun that was low in the sky, it was a peaceful sight unlike his mind which was in a mess.
"So that's what he meant by 'see you soon.'" he muttered to himself.
He sighed heavily thinking back to the unexpected event that had occurred.
I'm still in shock from this morning, I bet even Yuu-nii is… Futo-nii is in my school! Why?! What made him want to go to this one?... Is it, maybe because of me…? Urg! Baka Syo! It's not because of you! I think… Ahhh this is messing with my mind. Maybe he was thinking about going to school when he asked if people were nice or bully's? But I feel that wasn't why he asked that.. Still that doesn't explain why he's come here. He won't be in the same class right? I mean they will want him to be in the top one i'm sure!
He sighed again, Shin like always was dozing off next to him and Momo, well, she was doing her 'doodles' in the back of her book, more like her masterpieces. The sensei rambled on and the blond was too out of it to even realise what he was saying.
"Now…," the blond could hear him speak with excitement but only few words made it to his mind.
I wonder what he's saying. Ah well…
"Asakura Fuuto!? Kyaaaaa!" the girls in the screamed his name again and again.
Asakura.. Fuuto? WAIT FUTO!? FUTO-NII?!
"I can't believe it's him! Ahhh! I love him!" Another fangirl screamed.
Momo, Shin, Syo and the rest of the class, mainly boys, covered their ears in response. Syo opened his bright eyes to see the idol walk to Mr. Sudo's side, his smile seemed fake at first, that was until he made eye contact with the piercing hazel orbs. The blond couldn't look away, he pursed his lips together, unsettled by the stare. The idol just smirked and the dirty blond inwardly frowned at all the gawking girls.
"Okay. Girls, please quieten down so Asahina-kun can introduce himself." Mr. Sudo said, slightly stern and soon the noise died down. All attention was now on Futo, awaiting his introduction. "Okay, Asahina-kun, please introduce yourself." he said with a smile.
Urg. What a pain, don't they already know who I am. Of course they do… Still keep up the appearance… Thankfully the principle allowed me to be in Syo's class. Heh, he thinks I needed him for emotional support, but if i'm going to the same school as whats mine, I should also be in his class so I can keep an eye on him.
"Hajimemashite everyone. I'm Futo Asahina, most will know me as Asakura Fuuto the idol. I hope to get along with you all! Yoroshiku onegaishimasu!" he said with his idol, charming, smile capturing all the girls hearts.
"Is it okay if your new classmates ask some questions, Asahina-kun?" Mr. Sudo ask poiliety, the idol nodded in response and so the sensei gestured to the class. Many people suddle rushed their hands up.
"What do you love doing most?" a girl said excitedly and the brunette had the perfect answer.
"Being with my brother, just a couple months younger than me. He's fun to tease, like a kitten." he said, his ever so charming smile deflected any queries on the subject, instead he received many affectionate sounds from the girls around him.
Shin and Momo, on the other hand, looked at their best friend who had become flushed from the answer the idol had given.
Wh-what is he saying!?
"I think if we carry on we'll be here all day. Asahina-kun, please feel free on where to sit, you can sit anywhere you choose." Mr. Sudo said.
Ahh, well that made it so much easier to get what I want! Shin-kun, you better move.
He smirked deeply, briskly walking down the aisle to the back.
"I want to sit next to my Syo." he said loudly, but no one questioned him, he is an idol after all.
Syo's already, slightly, flustered face reached his ears, immediately lowering his head when he felt the burning stares of the rest of his classroom. The brunette hoved over Shin, waiting for him to move.
Ah. Course he wants my seat. Gomen Syo, thankfully you understand… Well least the seat next to Momo is free.
With that, the bluenette nodded to Syo, who did the same in acceptance. Futo's mischievous smile widened, knowing he won as Shin moved his things one place forward.
"Sudo sensei?" the idol called out.
"Hai, Asahina-kun?"
"I don't have a textbook." he said, knowing full well what the solution would be.
"I'm sure your neighbour will be happy to share, until you get one feel free to move your desks together." he smiled as he carried on with what he said.
Futo glanced at Syo, who looked away out the window accepting defeat. He slid their desks together and the blond moved his textbook in the middle. The sensei carried on with his blabbering but that didn't stop the idol from taking advantage of the situation. He moved his chair closer to Syo's, practically connecting the seats together and startled the blond. The smaller male rapidly looked at the seats, his orbs wide from seeing how close the now were and him being by the window, therefore a wall, leaving any escape useless.
Heh, you're trapped Baka-chan, you didn't think i'd let you off easy did you?
Throughout the whole lesson everyone was focused on the new student and his lucky neighbour. The blond sighed, focusing downward at his phone, Shin and Momo messaged him like they always did, but the idol was always observant and kept an eye out on things that belonged to him.
I don't appreciate you giving attention to them and not me… someone who is right next to you.
Swiftly Futo snatched the blonds phone, using bluetooth, he exchanged both their numbers without giving Syo a chance to stop him. Then, when Mr. Sudo wasn't looking, he pulled the blond in towards him and took a photo. Syo still was unable to comprehend what was happening, which gave the idol all the time he needed to send the photo to set the photo as the smaller males lock screen and send the photo to himself.
That'll make him think twice about not paying attention to me.
What? Why did he do that? Is … he perhaps jealous?
"F-Futo-nii? Why did you do that?" Syo whispered.
"Stop giving your attention to other people when i'm right next to you." he said flatly.
Eh?... He said it so straightforward!
His face turned red to his ears as he quickly looked away from the idols heavy gaze. The pinkette and bluenette looked in caution, but they weren't too worried, if push did come to shove Momo would be able to sort the idol out and they all knew that.
He better not hurt Syo. I'll warn him soon enough. She thought with a mischievous grin on her face and Shin shook his head in amusement.
The classes eyes fell upon them multiple times during the lesson, Syo felt uncomfortable under their stare. Time passed slower than usual, every second that ticked by felt like an eternity.
This has not been disappointing, I guess it can only get better. Heh, Baka-chan don't keep showing your blushing face to others please.
The school bell echoed throughout the halls and was followed by the cheers of its fellow students. It just passed 1:30pm, the weather smiled down as Meji High School finished early for the day, to prepare for the opening evening that was ahead. The students were like a stampede, rushing through the gates, herded together, not planning to let go of the freedom they had just earned.
Syo and Shin were on the defence, the strength of the crowd could get overwhelming at times, lucky Momo wasn't with them, a fight might have occurred if so. The idol, however, was in the principal's office completing paperwork, leaving the two best friends to do as they wished.
Futo effortlessly walked down the corridor, he wished that he didn't have to do the papers today but Syo insisted, leaving him to his own devices. He hummed his latest single and started to head in the direction of the exit.
Wonder what Baka-chan and Shin-kun are up to… can't believe I let him leave…
He was pulled out of his thoughts when he heard laughter, a familiar one, a few stories down. Out of curiosity he walked silently towards the window and saw a brunette girl laughing with some of her friends, his eyes narrowed in disapproval.
"Haha! No way Hiro-kun did that!? So cute!" the black haired girl squealed.
"Ren! You're making me embarrassed! But he's so cute! If we carry on this way I might move in with him." Ema said with a grin.
"That's great! But, what about Syo-chan?" Ren asked, slightly worried.
"Syo? He's fine, he always is, he's got his new family too." she said passively and Ren got the message and let it slide.
The idols brow twitched before he allowed the corner of his eyes to notice something. His mischievous smile crept onto his face as he swiftly moved towards the cleaning bucket, looking downwards to see a musky reflection of himself.
Well, guess this is the only way I can get payback...
"AH! What!? Cold!" a voice screeched.
"Oh my! Ema, are you okay!?" another voice called.
"Oi! Who did that!?" the brunette yelled up.
Futo crouched laughing as quiet as he could, he got strange looks off students but thankfully was able to convince one to take the blame. Which being a fangirl for the Asakura Fuuto they would do anything.
"Ahh! Sorry, we slipped on the wet floor and the bucket… we couldn't catch it in time! So sorry! It was an accident." the two girls shouted down apologetically.
"Arigatou~ girls…" he whispered in their ear and they both flushed, holding in their excitement as the idol walked away.
Well, thats that… still their reactions.. no one beats Baka-chan.
The brunette chuckled to himself as he paced further down the corridor. Everything about the 'accident' was satisfying, he would have done more but at least he got his revenge.
"Jirou, did you hear that Asakura Fuuto has started to attend the school!" one of the copycats said.
"Hai! And he's in the same class as Boke-kun!" the other said.
"Don't call him that! Syo… Tch!" the voice said, Futo peeped round the corner to see Jirou and his copycats stood in the hall.
"Gomen, Jirou." Genki said with his head hung.
" With that Asahina here… it makes it harder.. with him here I wan be able to get near Syo-kun." he muttered.
"Ah! Don't give up on getting close to that blond! I'm sure he'll come to like you!" Rishou shouted with enthusiasm, he received a smack from the black haired leader who had his index finger, a taint of red on his cheeks.
"Look, we're rooting for you! We hope the little blond knows how awesome you are and accepts your feelings!" Genki said in a low voice.
"Arigatou you two. Let's hope I can make him mine sooner, otherwise that Asakura Fuuto will make things harder. But thank you guys." he said, gesturing for his friends to follow.
The idol watches them leave, his eyes became narrow like a predators on a hunt, the air around him became dark and anger filled his body.
Seems like I haven't got rid of that bastard after all! Guess I'll have to try harder next time… he better stay away from my Baka-chan!
Okay, So i've left Kana-nii and Shin alone… I hope they can make up, don't want to leave them too long though, otherwise they'll know it was just an excuse to let them talk.
Syo stopped and looked at himself in the mirror and tried to contain his embassament, both the hickeys on his neck were almost on display. He tugged on his collar upward, covering them again, fortunately they were beginning to fade. However, the one on his wrist was no where near that stage, he began to think of wearing wristbands to cover it.
Well, i'll be wearing my Imagine Dragons, game and anime wristbands for the time being.
"I… If you despise me so much then just say so!" a shout filled the whole restaurant, Syo immediately perked up as he knew the voice, his eyes filled with concern and without a second thought he rushed out the bathroom.
"Oh no…" he came to a halt as his jaw hung loose, Shin was gone and Kaname looked angry.
"Kana-nii? What happened? ... Are you okay?" Syo sat down beside him and asked in a low voice. The monk stayed silent for a while, his eyes filled with hate for himself.
"Where's Shin?" the blond asked confused and worried.
"He left." Kaname said plainly, his mind too focused on the bluenette's crying face. "I've got to sort this out myself…"
The idol burst into Syo's room, startling the half naked blond who stood shocked in his boxers. The smaller male started babbling with confusion on why the brunette had entered his room with such an abrupt manner.
"I've already seen you naked remember? In the shower, all wet, so stop blushing like that…" he stated with a confident smirk. "You'll make me want to jump you." he mumbles into whisper, hoping that Syo wouldn't hear the words that accidently slipped out, but from the blonds reaction he had heard.
Rapidly the brunette turned to leave, hiding his red face from allowing himself to let words slip out.
F-futo-nii! How am I meant to not blush when you say something like that!?
"Uh… Anyways I came here to tell you that from now on you'll be going to school with me.. and we're leaving soon so dont be too long, i'll see you down
stairs." he said, trying to be confident.
He left, closing the door behind him before leaning against it with his palms to his face from embarrassment. He looked around, checking that none of his brothers were around, as he didn't want them to walk in on the half naked blond, before leaving to await his 'entertainment' downstairs.
The brunette waited anxiously on the overhead balcony, he'd never really walked to school with anyone before and the thought of it being Syo made him very eager. He took deeper and longer breaths, calming his racing heart for the day ahead.
Jirou will be there… Tch!
"Baka-chan? Your finally ready." the idol said, standing straight.
"Hai, you ready for your first official day at school?" he asked with a grin.
"Of course -." he began to say before the eldest spoke with his sheepish smile. Futo just glared.
The tall brunette ruffled Syo's fluffy hair with his large hand, subconsciously the blond leaned in accepting the gentle action.
"So, Syo-chan, has Jirou Wada completely stopped bullying you now?" he asked, his fingers moved lower down the side of his face, caressing his cheek.
"Hai, you don't need to worry Masa-nii." the little male said with his emerald orbs looking directly at the brunette that stood beside him.
"I still worry, that won't change. Remember if you need anything i'm only a call away, you've got my number in your phone." he smiled, looking to the idol in the corner of his eye, knowing the reaction he would get.
They have each others phone numbers…
"Will do Masa-nii. Anyway, Futo-nii and I will need to head to school, can't have him being late on his first day!" Syo said with excitement.
"Okay! Well get there safely!" Masaomi nodded, softly wrapping his arms around the dirty blond, making his face boil from the suddenness. "You're so cute when you blush Syo-chan." he teased before waving good bye. A smirk of achievement plastered over his face as he saw his little idol brother glare.
Futo clicked his tongue in annoyance, dragging the blond with him out the front door.
Well, two can play at this game. Futo needs to realise that he can't have Syo-chan to himself and that he isn't the only one that can make him blush.
The two walked in silence, still embarrassed over the incident this morning they had both subconsciously come to the conclusion of enjoying each others company. That was until two friendly familiar faces were spotted in the distance, one of which was running rapidly towards the two Asahina's.
"Syoooo! Morning!" A pinkette came darting towards them both, who backed away slightly worried of the impact that was ahead.
The girl leapt forward, arms open and welcoming the two males into a hard hitting hug. They braced as the force tried to send them flying backwards, both holding tight onto the excitable girl.
"Momo, thats dangerous!" the blond said with worry as they placed her on the ground. She just beamed a smile in their direction.
"Ah! Who cares, it all worked out anyway!" she began to walk towards Shin, who waited ahead, waving them to follow her.
"Come on guys! School will start soon… we at least should try to make it on time." the bluenette shouted to them before muttering to himself, he watched with a smile as he watched them laugh.
Momo walked in proudly, along Shin and Syo, who were happy that they made it into school on time. The idol on the other hand just yawned, he wasn't used to having to get up early all the time, and already so much had happened today. Whispers echoed amongst the lockers and halls, the little blond knew who and why. The girls in the school were overjoyed to have Futo enroll, and every move he made they watched and commented on with squeals.
"Syo, you not coming with us?" Shin asked.
"Ah.. hai, i'll meet you guys at class, tell sensei i'm here!" he said as they nodded and left.
Ahh.. I need my head to be clear already… this is killing me..
He raised his head after a deep breath before journeying to the classroom. Syo looked from side to side, witnessing the aftermath of all the lovesick girls who just saw their idol. It confused him, he didn't fully understand why this bothered him and he wished it would disappear, but instead it was aggravated.
"So, are you going to confess?" one girl whispered to another.
"Hai! I mean, did you see the way he looked at me? So dreamy. I think i'll do it soon!" the girls friend replied with a shy smile.
It's not even nine and people are already planning to confess to him…
With his head down, he turns the final corner of his journey to only have his heart yanked into more conflict. The brunette stood, leaning against the door, laughing with a cute, doll-like girl, whose hair was long and pure black.
"I know you more than anyone else ever will." the girl said, her devious eyes flicked from Futo to Syo, who stood not too far from them.
I don't want to see this. I don't want to hear this.
He rushed forward, pretending that he had his music on, so he had a reason for not hearing Futo call after him with annoyance of being ignored. He sat down, trying to hide his feelings from his friends and just hoped that they would cheer him up, which they did… temporarily. The idol sat next to him and tension filled the area. Momo and Shin shared glances, they still had the whole day before them.
Syo sighed in relief that he'd made it through to break and managed to get a refreshing drink before his next lesson started. Everyone let off a buzz of excitement, having the famous Futo join wasn't a small thing, and the blond knew that this atmosphere wasn't likely to die down anytime soon.
"Syo," Momo said, waiting outside the classroom door with a quite Shin. "You.. you might not want to go in there just yet." she said with a slight pain expression.
Huh? What? Why? … Ahh poor Shin.. I hope Kana-nii sorts this out soon.
"Class is going to start soon anyway, i'm just going to sit down." the blond said, moving past his two best friends who braced themselves.
What did they want to… hide…
"Hehe, ahh, Futo-kun~?" a voice said.
It's the girl from this morning…?
"Hai, Emiko-san." the brunette answered with a sweet smile.
"Do you love me loads~?" she answered, wrapping her arms around him like a snake.
He hesitated for a moment, not noticing the torn blond in front of him. "Of course I do." he laughed along with her as she slid her arms further down, resting her chin on his neck.
"Yatta!" the black haired girl giggled next to his ear.
Wish she would just let the fuck go before Baka-chan..
Futo's eyes looked up, seeing the emerald orbs, and for the first time he wished he hadn't. Syo didn't make any eye contact, he didn't want to, it was more painful than expect.
Don't make eye contact, don't make eye contact, just sit and ignore…
Futo glanced from the corner of his eye, still being suffocated by the girl that held him, he didn't allow Syo out of his sight. Shin and Momo brought out a smile in the blond, the smile that he kept on wiping away, and that made his blood boil.
"Ossu! Everyone who isn't in my class leave. Anyone who is, be seated." the sensei came in, his intimidating aura filled the room and immediately people swarmed out. "Jin Himura, Koji Ito… sit down." he said, not even lifting his head from the register.
Futo-nii is just playing with me… i'm sure he prefers girls like her…
The classes atmosphere lightened from the laughter the sensei and students had brought. The brunette, however, hadn't lifted his gaze from the blond. The words of Jirou played again and again in his mind. He watched the smaller male fidget under the weight his stare created, it angered him more that what was his, tried ever so desperately to avoid his brown orbs.
Baka-chan, once you realise I came here to be next to you… you really won't be able to leave me.
Syo kept his eyes locked ahead, he knew that he was being watched, he knew who by and he had a strong gut feeling why too. But, he wasn't about to give in, he couldn't, otherwise Futo would find out why he acted the way he did before he even knew himself. That thought alone was scary, he had to bury it as much as he could, deep down he knew it was futile, but he had to try.
Schools have a tendency to create an area outside where their students can enjoy their lunch with fresh air. Meji High School did this by having a path of healthy trees and bushes that led to a yard. The yard was shaded by tall trees that were in full bloom, flower gardens splashed colour around, blue, pink, red, white, yellow, it brought cheerfulness to the pupils that sat on the benches and ate amongst their friends.
Yuusuke sat on one of the benches alone, he had messaged Syo asking if they wanted to have lunch together and the reply made his day. He was excited, never having really done this before, he wanted to be able to get to know his little brother more. The little blond waved frantically, quickly taking his place on the bench with a beaming smile.
"Hungry?" Yuusuke asked and he nodded as he watched the red head open his lunch box that they planned to share.
Futo, on the other hand, rushed through the filled corridor. Girls screaming after him but he didn't take notice, he had someone on his mind and he wanted to find them.
Where is he? I texted him… He just rushed out the classroom, even Baka-chan's Baka friends didn't tell me…
[FLASHBACK]
"Where did Baka-chan go?" the idol asked his two accomplices, who shared a mischievous side glance.
"Who's Baka-chan~?" Shin asked.
"You know who." the idol stated.
"Do we? Do we really?" Momo then joined.
"Hai. Why did he leave in such a rush?" he asked more impatiently.
"Who knows~." Shin shrugged.
"You do." the brunette glared.
"Do we? Do we really~?" Momo added again, and Futo took a deep breath.
"Did you see him when that person wanted to talk?" Momo spoke to the bluenette.
"Oh yeah~, that guy asked him to walk with him, said he had something to say." he played along with her story.
"Syo did look nervous and flustered!" the pinkette smiled.
"Could have been a confession, maybe he'll accept." Shin glanced towards the idol, whose moral was decreasing rapidly.
"Well, they would be cute toge-." she carried on before the brunette snapped.
"Urusai! I'll find him myself!" he burst out the room.
"Kuso… maybe we went too far… was fun though." Shin commented.
"Hai~... Lets just hope Syo can handle the storm." Momo sighed.
[FLASHBACK END]
The thought fueled his anger, if Syo was with another guy then he doesn't know what he might do, he sped through the halls hoping that he could find him soon. Thankfully lunch had just started, so he still had plenty of time, and if what his friends had said and he was being confessed to, he could easily stop it. His brown eyes lit up when he found him sat on a bench, finally he could eat with him in the same school, but that changed when he saw his brother, laughing and about to enjoy their meal together.
"Ah, so Natsu-nii gave you the demo?" Yuusuke asked.
"Hai and-." the blond began.
"Oi, oi. Baka-chan why are you eating lunch with him and not me? And why haven't you answered your messages?" Futo questioned whilst he strolled up to them.
"Ah Futo-nii? What do you mean messages?" he asked clueless.
"The messages I sent you not long ago, asking where you are." he replied.
"My phones in my bag… in class, I left it there to come and meet Yuu-nii for lunch." he said innocently.
"There isn't a problem with that, is there Futo?" the redhead asked, his glare showed his displeased feeling.
"So what if there is?" the idol replied.
"There shouldn't be. Syo-chan can eat with whoever he wants!" Yuusuke stood, facing him. Syo's face filled with confusion, he looked for refuge with his friends, but they weren't in sight.
"He should have lunch with me! He's mine!" Futo stood his ground, not backing down, but neither was Yuusuke.
"He isn't anybodys. You don't own him." the redhead gritted through his teeth. "I feel for him, having you act like this, he just wanted to have lunch with me. Just chill out!" he raised his voice ever so slightly.
Stop fighting. Please, Yuu-nii… Futo-nii.
"So you want him then? Thinking you can get close to him so quickly? You didn't beat that damned Jirou up, you didn't take care of his wounds in the middle of the night! Baka-chan is mine!" Futo squared up to him, his eyes clouded by anger, he wasn't thinking clearly.
"Please stop!" Syo tried to speak up but was drowned out, he saw Shin and Momo stood dumbfounded from the event, people were going to begin staring, this wouldn't look good.
"Baka-chan! It's me or him. Choose." the idol had given him an ultimatum, he couldn't take it, Yuusuke looked hurt… but so did Futo.
"You guys shouldn't fight! Yuu-nii has been a great brother to me too! And I- I don't belong to anyone! I'm not going to chose between my family!" Syo burst, his eyes welled up from the overflow of emotions, the fight had scared him and his only thought was to run. Which he did. Leaving the two heated brothers alone and ashamed. Shin and Momo shook their head in despair, that wasn't a pleasant thing to witness.
The breeze gently moved over the roof, the clouds had began to clear allowing the sun to give warmth to the land below. Syo sat by the tall metal railings, leaning against it, feelings it coldness press on his back, a strange but nice feeling.
His knees up to his chest as he rested his chin on them, this day wasn't getting any easier and lunch was proof of that. The blond sighed, the argument was scary to watch and the topic was even scarier.
Choose?! Why would he ask me that? All Yuusuke and I were doing was having lunch! They fell out because of me… I caused them to say those things.. I hate this..
He dropped his head onto his knees. The thought of him being the source of any argument was enough to make him feel sick to his stomach. He curled up tighter, hoping it would all go away before the end of lunch. The wind helped, providing fresh air that made him feel lighter, but the lack of food made everything harder. Foot steps approached, he didn't dare look up, if it was Futo he wouldn't know how to react. A growling sound originated from his stomach, he felt embarrassed at making such a sound when he had company.
"You hungry?" a voice said, but it wasn't Futo, Yuusuke nor his two friends.
He looked up, eyes widened from surprise yet a sigh of relief. Black spiky hair and piercings. Jirou Wada. He had his arm out holding a sandwich, the blond could feel his stomach craving it, but he was hesitant in accepting it. Jirou Wada had bullied him, humiliated him, hurt him mentally, physically and verbally. Syo had been so scared his anxiety was awful whenever he was around, and so even when the black haired male was offering him a sandwich, like a peace offering, he couldn't quickly accept.
Jirou moved next to Syo, leaning against the same metal railing before once again offering the sandwich.
"Please. You should eat, it's not good to have an empty stomach, especially if you're upset." he mumbled.
"How did you know?" the blond whispered.
"The argument wasn't quite y'know… but I witnessed it. You okay?" he tried being comforting but it made the air awkward.
"Um.. that's embarrassing.. Heh, so you saw everything?" he took a deep breath before continuing. "And, i'll be fine, just need to.. um.. get my head around what happened I guess." he smiled, begging to eat Jirou's sandwich making the black haired boy smile.
"It'll sort itself out. They all just need to cool their heads, they'll come together, siblings fight all the time." he tried to be comforting, not liking the blond to be so distressed.
"But.. But it's my fault they had the argument in the first place.. I've increased if not caused the rift between them! What if they never really move on and.. and.." he began to panic, his eyes welled up again and Jirou's heart skipped a beat. Subconsciously his arm wrapped around the blond, pulling his head onto his shoulders as a sign of comfort.
How could I have made him cry.. beat him.. taunt him… all for his attention when being like this with him.. having him not run from me, is so much better. I might have fucked things up before, but maybe I can make it right.
Syo's orbs expanded from the action but he didn't resist. For the first time Jirou, his ex-bully, was being kind. It was awkward and tense but at the same time all the good intentions Jirou had came pouring out and so, he didn't feel as scared. For this moment, he needed someone other than his usual group to comfort him.
Fifteen minutes passed and lunch was soon to be ending. Jirou lightly nudged the blond, who had closed his eyes from his headache, indicating that it was time he left. The black haired male stood tall, reaching out his hand to pat Syo on the head, an awkward transaction but it made them both chuckle amongst themselves.
"You're finally smiling. B-.. Syo-kun? You don't need to be scared anymore, I hope today proves that. Until next time…" he lifted his hand from the soft blond hair, waving and leaving with a soft expression.
Futo Asahina.. I'm not backing down.
The idol panicked through the halls, lunch hadn't gone as planned and he made Syo run away from him to god knows where. He searched most of the classrooms and was running out of time. Yes, he would see him in class, but it wasn't enough, he wanted to make up with him before that. The thought of hurting the blond pained him, he couldn't think straight and all he could see in his mind, no matter how many faces he passed, was Syo's crying face that he caused.
Finally a sign of hope arose, he found Shin and Momo, who looked worried, but they were the only ones close enough to the blond, more than he'd like to admit.
"I need a favour." the idol muttered.
"It's to do with Syo isn't it?" Momo asked, knowing what he wanted.
"Hai. You… you know him the best.. where is he right now?" he asked, desperate, his brown orbs held the sadness and anger he felt. The two friends sighed.
"He'll be on the roof." Momo said rubbing her forehead.
"Are you sure?" the brunette said with a glimpse of hope.
"If you trust us, go and see, you did say we know him the best." Shin commented and the idol just nodded in acceptance.
"You know him the best…" he muttered and they nodded in approval. "... For now." he added cheekily, a smile on his face as he ran, the pinkette and bluenette were left happily surprised.
Futo slowed down before the daunted steps ahead of him. He'd planned out his apology and he knew that the blond would have to accept it. He smiled accordingly at the thought, raising his confidence to face this problem. However, he stopped in his tracks, only a few steps away from the staircase, he stood dumbfounded.
Jirou came down the stairs with a jump to his step, smile on his face and red cheeks. His eye's filled with accomplishment, his heart begged him to turn around and sit with him again, but he knew that it was enough for today, baby steps at first is what he thought.
The idol had rushed under the stairs, frowning at what he saw, he wasn't dumb and could tell that Jirou had been in Syo's company. It was all over his overly happy face. Now it was too late to go to the roof, the bully had beaten him to it and the comforting was done, Syo really wouldn't want to see him now and that thought hurt.
Guess i'll just wait for him here until he's ready to face the world.
What felt like forever was just moments that passed by slowly, and Futo still waited. He wouldn't leave until the blond had come and he knew he was still up there, the black haired males body language was enough to clarify that. He sighed, worried and starting to doubt himself and the apology that he had planned, if he could stick with it.
When he comes say you're sorry and show you mean it..
His foot began to have a nervous twitch, waiting was killing him and when he checked the time only a minute had passed. Time was running painfully slow and he didn't like it. He took a deep breath when he heard the door open and click shut. His time had arrived and he wanted it to be over so they could be like the always were.
"Futo-nii?" a voice said in shock.
The brunette opened his mouth to talk but no words came out. He tried to prep himself to make the apology but again nothing. His body had a urge and it wasn't to say sorry, and without a second thought his plan was out the window when the confused blond looked directly at him with his emerald eyes.
Futo grabbed the smaller males wrist and automatically began to pull him along to his pace down the corridor, not slowing down nor stopping at the startled blonds commands. A room sparked his interest, he had a gut feeling it was empty, and he was never wrong. He swung open the door to see he was correct, yanked Syo, who was behind him, into the room and locked the door to ensure no one could get in and they couldn't get out.
Finally. I'm alone with him at last.
Silence befell them, Futo was still facing the door, he didn't want to look back at Syo's worried face. The brunette let out a long sigh, rubbing his head.
This was not how the apology was supposed to go… I need to do it, come on Futo!
He turned to see that the blond wasn't there, but had quietly unlocked the door to get out. Futo filled with hurt and anger, slamming a hand on the partly open door, forcing it closed and trapped the scared blond between both his arms. He looked deeply into Syo's eye's wanting him to see that he was sorry, but unsure if he could.
No! He hurt mine and Yuu-nii's feelings… he was mean… I can't!
Syo thought and panicked, pushing his hands into the brunettes chest. He knew what the idol was trying to do but couldn't understand how, he was still angry, yet was about to easily forgive the brunette without a second thought. What was he to do?
He felt his captors chest move, preparing to say something, he saw his lips open and his brown orbs convey his feelings. He was about to make his verbal apology.
"No! Futo-nii, no! You… you can't!" he protested, expecting the idol to get angry but he wasn't. He smiled, and the blond didn't understand why.
"You understood. See, this is one of the reasons why you're mine…" he muttered, a smile still on his face.
Syo's eyes widened from the surprise, now he was truly lost, Futo wasn't going to let him go.
Stop being deluded that you don't belong to me, Baka-chan.
But he couldn't, he wouldn't yet admit to himself that any freedom he thought he possessed belonged to the brunette. However, this only made the idol enjoy it all the more, the conflict he saw that Syo couldn't, the one in himself.
And this proves that you're mine…
He stroked his blond hair, intertwining it between his fingers and tugging slightly. His other hand placed behind his head, pulling him in, to finally make their lips meet. Syo felt his heart melt at the instant connection and lost any strength to fight back.
The kiss, for a second, started ever so gently, but the feelings couldn't be contained before the idol deepened it. Their bond intensified as their tongues interlaced together. Slowly it became rough, their bodies even closer together as they shared their heat. Syo subconsciously wrapped his arms around the idols neck, bringing the interlocked lips even closer.
The last part of Futo's moral snapped. He pushed the blond into the door, causing a bang but no one would hear, lifted him up, using the door as a brace, so that the smaller male could wrap his legs around the idols waist and hold onto him.
Inward moans surfaced quickly as they held one another, holding their hair tightly in each others hands, they didn't care about their surroundings as they were too absorbed in their passionate kiss. The heat only increased for them both, Syo was completely lost unaware of how much he had been wanting this and Futo, he was in heaven, knowing it would take time for the blond to understand that he was his.
Ding. Dong. Ding. Dong.
The bell echoed throughout the halls, alerting the two that they had to break their interlocked lips. Furo smirked as they began to pull away, biting hard on Syo's bottom lip forcing it to slightly bleed. He had let out a yelp of pain and in response had bitten the brunette back. The two of the chuckled together at the state of their bleeding lips before the realisation of what had just happened. His face fell into a deep red.
"Your reactions are so cute." Futo smiled, touching Syo's forehead with his own.
After hearing the bell they waited five minutes, not only because they would have been seen leaving an empty room together but also because Syo was still red from the previous event. Five minutes seemed just the right amount of time for the blond to cool down and for them not to be too late for the class, thankfully the sensei was usually late for this lesson.
He held his wrist and guided him along to their classroom, they were both silent but didn't need words as they had just conveyed their emotions to each other. Everything was still up in the air but Futo didn't mind it, he liked it being that way at the moment, that way he could ease the little blond into it.
Momo and Syo walked alongside each other, something was missing, a part of their jigsaw had been taken. They knew how and why, but they still wish that piece was with them. Futo and Yuusuke would have been with them if it wasn't for paperwork and after school cleaning duty. But they liked it just being the two of them after such a long time.
"Is Shin gonna be okay? Y'know, being kidnapped by Kaname-senpai and all." Momo asked, she was worried like the blond but he had faith.
"He'll be fine. Granted he didn't want to talk to him but from what happened yesterday Kana-nii felt really bad. He told us he wanted to apologise, guess he wanted to do it in a more private place. Plus, we all know that Shin can hold his own, Kana-nii won't harm him in any sort of way. He knows he hurt him and took it too far with their 'teasing', I could tell yesterday how much he regretted it. I just hope it gets sorted out. I hate seeing Shin cry." Syo spoke, he was worried too, but all he could do it wait, Kaname did seem sincere and determined after all.
"You're right Syo, like always. But if anything does happen he'll be having words with me." the pinkette stood proud and the blond laughed.
"I know, he'll have to deal with me too." he said, slightly sterner, Momo was slightly taken aback but smiled.
"Ah, then he really will be in trouble." she added, laughing together again.
The room was dark, only a small spotlight that hit the desk, provided the light and even then it wasn't much. The blond sighed as he blankly stared at the empty sheet of paper. His special box was open and he held his pen tightly in his hand as shivers overcame his body. He didn't understand why he was feeling sick to his stomach, he hadn't been able to finish his dinner and his head ached with a pounding that felt like elephants were stamping on it. His body was sending him a message, and he had a bad feeling on what it was, there was no point in delaying the knowledge that lead ahead. It would just make it all worse in the end.
He rapidly looked up, staring directly at the calendar above his desk. It took a moment but finally it sunk in, he saw the date and felt his whole body become numb.
23rd July… that's about a week away…
He pressed the pen on the paper, and let his mind take over.
I miss you.
He sighed, a short letter but it's what he felt. He rummaged in the box, somewhat forcing a smile, holding a frame in his hands before placing it on his desk. He continued and found a necklace, it was completely silver with three silver symbols manually attached. One was a musical beam note, the other a dagger and last but not least a flame. Quietly he turned off the last remaining light and curling up in bed.
Beam note made us smile. So smile. Dagger means fight. So fight. Flame means live. So live… Smile. Fight. Live.
Darkness surrounded and corrupted his thoughts, his mind too weak to fight back gave in, playing tricks and old memories in his nightmares. Noises replayed again and again in his mind, driving him crazy, echoing the dreadful sound that changed his life. He jumped up panting, thinking of calming thoughts, he body wanted to call out for Futo, but it was too weak. All he could do was fall back into the darkness.
Smile. Fight. Live.
Tuesday - 22nd July - 9pm
A week had slowly passed, Syo's attitude no matter how much he tried to hide it, had subconsciously changed. All the brothers couldn't understand, Futo, their witness on the events in school, he'd said there was no bullying of the sort and had told them that he had become very sullen and his friends seemed to know why but just supported him. This only made them worry more, they all sat on the large sofa amongst each other. Syo had gone to bed early again, straight after tea like he had for the past week.
"He's not eating enough." Ukyo stated, worriedly.
"Nor smiling, laughing, talking… being him…" Iori added, his head rested on his knuckles and more silence filled the room.
"I've run out of idea's on what it could be." Masaomi shook his head, disappointed with himself.
"I have an idea what it could link to…" Kaname began, drawing in his brothers attention on what he had to say, their eyes worried but showed a glimpse of hope on being able to help out their little brother. "It must be what shook him up so badly that time." he continued.
"The time about Jirou Wada?" Subaru questioned.
"Hai. Remember? Before we had the conversation with him he went into a panic, couldn't hear or see us, was shaking like crazy and crying… I held him to calm him down and it only worked after a few minutes of constant rocking back and forth to bring him back." he sighed loudly, watching his siblings faces drop into realisation on what particular event he was on about.
"As much as that is helpful.. it isn't at the same time." Yuusuke said sadly.
"Maybe so, but it tells us that what is bothering him so much right now is from the past." Natsume commented, nodding as if onto something. "Do you think Ema-san would know?" he questioned them.
"It's too late to ask her now.. but tomorrow I think we should contact her." Hikaru suggested and got the nods of approval.
"For now, lets try to get some sleep." Azusa stated, and again they nodded.
Sorry that my letters haven't been very long recently, but today it will be.
Miwa and Rintarou stayed for the night a couple of days ago, it was nice having dinner with them, sadly they couldn't stay longer as they had another adventure awaiting them.
Ema and I have made up, she didn't really say it vocally but when she saw me she hugged me before heading to Hiro's-senpai. We are distant but sometimes call and text, i'm just glad her and Hiro-senpai living together is going so well, she still has her room here though, in Sunrise Residence. I'm just happy for her, she's definitely going to get the grades she needs for uni!
The brothers like always are great, i'm glad Rintarou got married, otherwise I wouldn't have such wonderful people in my life. They helped and still do with so much!
Ah! I almost forgot! Futo-nii keeps doing embarrassing things, it makes me laugh but my face becomes red, anyway I can calm that down? Hehe. He snuck up on my the other day when I was in the shower, I opened the door to him trying to come on and shut the door on his face… I think I was scared for my life at that point, it did hit him, but we laughed it off.
I've not known what to say in this letter, it's been ten years already I can't believe it.. I miss you and i'll be seeing you again tomorrow! It's been..
He stopped. He looked at the time and it was midnight, 23rd July. His heart began to rage in his chest, his body began shaking. He bit his bottom lip, holding back his tears that were bursting to pour out, his mind started to become blank as he stared down at the letter, the one he was finally able to write after a week. A tear fell onto the page, blurring the words 'I miss you'. Another fell and then another.
He lifted his hand over the paper, shaking rapidly and unable to control it before forcing the pen heavily on the sheet and crossing through line after line, until he calmed down. It was still readable, just about, but there were tears where he had pressed harder and stains were the distraught blonds pain had hit.
Minutes passed and once again he just stared, picking up his pen once more and moving it towards the bottom of the page.
Come back to me… please… I need you..
Futo sluggishly walked down the stairs into the living room, he scratched his head, still waking up.
"Don't you have school today?" Ukyo asked.
"No, it's a teacher training day or summet," the idol shook his head. "Where's Baka-chan?" the brunette asked, in a sleepish state.
"That's what we were going to ask, we thought he would have come down with you." Masaomi said concerned.
"No? I knocked on his door but didn't get an answer, I thought he was finally sleeping." the brunette commented.
"He has been struggling lately, but he would be up by now… Azusa, should we go and check?" the twin said, already heading in the direction.
"Hai, we should." the other twin followed.
"Hey, let's all go, we are all worried after all." Hikaru suggested and they agreed, all hurriedly heading towards the little blonds room.
With every step the brothers took their unsettled feeling of worry grew. Something wasn't right, they could feel it, the way everything felt empty and lifeless.
Natsume reached the door first, he knocked heavily, hoping that Syo would wake up but there was no answer. He looked to his brothers, face full of despair and wanting answers.
"Move!" Futo commanded, pushing him away before staring at the door. "Something isn't right." he muttered, reaching his hand for the handle and gripping onto it before taking a deep breath.
"It'll be locked won't it?" Iori asked.
The idol pulled it down to confirm his thoughts, it wasn't locked. He took yet another deep breath before opening the door fully and regretted it. His heart dropped as he struggled to speak.
"H.. He's… not.. there.." he muttered in disbelief, his hand fell to his side as Tsubaki, Azusa and Natsume rushed into the room, brushing past the idol.
"His room is empty, where do you think he's gone?" Azusa said in a panic.
"He can't have just disappeared!" Subaru's voice began to raise.
"What should we do!? We need to find him!" Iori stressed.
"Calm down." Masaomi said sternly.
"How can we calm down?! Syo's missing!" Yuusuke shouted, his hands gripping his hair in distress.
"If we aren't calm we won't find him!" Masaomi raised his voice and the brothers remained silent, waiting for his orders. "Ukyo, Louis, Subaru, Yuusuke and Wataru, come with me and we will look else where. Around the whole house and anywhere else we can think of. The rest of you, look in his room for any clues you may find." everyone nodded and separated into their groups, Wataru tugged strongly onto Masaomi's clothing.
"Is onii-chan going to be okay? He hasn't been himself and now he's gone missing." the littlen said, eyes welling up as they spoke. The brunette crouched to his level, trying to smile reassuringly, as he wiped the tears away.
"We'll find him, he won't be far. Don't worry," he said, sounding confident. "Let's go." he commanded.
"We've looked for clues everywhere, where could he be?" Iori muttered.
"He must have disappeared at some point in the night…" the silverette said, his voice barely audible.
Futo was still silent, he didn't know how else to process this whole situation, he glanced around the room again, checking if they missed anything at all.
"Did any of you ring him?" Azusa asked.
"Hai.. but his phone is either dead or turned off." Natsume answered with a sigh.
"Wait.." the idol muttered, his eyes sparking an interest in a certain object.
"What is it?" the blond monk asked.
"That box.." he replied.
"Yeah, thats one of the first things Syo-chan un..packed.. Do you think that maybe.." Kaname ended his sentence with a whisper.
"Let's find out." the brunette picked up the box, placing it between them all before opening it to find one thing they didn't expect. Letters, and a lot of them, all in envelope's but not fully closed.
"There are so many." Hikaru commented with amazement.
"Syo-chan must have written all of these… but to who?" Iori questioned.
"And why have none of them been sent?" Azusa asked.
"Whatever the reason, I have a strong feeling that they'll give us some sort of indication as to where he is." Futo stated.
"Wait, Futo, we can't just read them!" Natsume said with shock, "He wrote these! We would be breaking his privacy!" he closed the box, hiding the letters inside.
"Right now I don't care. If it means a way to find him, i'll do it, so just hand it over." the idol ordered and the youngest of the triplets knew he was right.
Hesitantly he handed it over and watched as the brunette open the box once more. He picked up some of the latest letters and the brothers crowded round as he opened them.
"These earlier letters are written daily…" the idol he commented.
"And?" Kaname eagerly asked.
"Well, these last two… are written a week apart, i've only looked at the dates of these, i've not read the context.. but the time frame…" Futo said as if visualizing everything.
"It was around the time Syo started acting differently. We should just read the last two letters then." Hikaru said, grabbing one. "But this one just says 'I miss you.' and nothing else accept the date."
"This one.. shit.. its be scratched out but it's still easily readable, the only bit you can see is that wasn't scratched out was 'Come back to me… please… I need you..', he wrote so much before that." Tsubaki said, confused by what he saw.
"Look! Water marks! He must have been crying when he wrote this!" Azusa stressed, pointing at different areas of the page.
"Guys, he speaks about us in these letters. 'The brothers like always are great, i'm glad Rintarou got married, otherwise I wouldn't have such wonderful people in my life. They helped and still do with so much!'" Natsume read to them.
"That's not all, look at this, it links with the 'I miss you' and stuff. 'I've not known what to say in this letter, it's been ten years already I can't believe it.. I miss you and i'll be seeing you again tomorrow! It's been..' and then he stopped writing, this must have been the point he started crying." Iori pointed out to them.
"Ten years…Seeing them tomorrow? That would be today…" Futo muttered. "We should meet with everyone and tell them what we know, it will prove useful." he finished, before leaving and flicking out his phone.
[Hello?]
"Hey, Ema-san.. it's me Futo."
[Well this is a surprise, what's up?]
"It's about Baka-chan."
[Course it is.]
"He's missing."
[...]
"Do you know where he is?" he was begging to get impatient.
[What's the date today?]
"I'm asking you.." his voice began to rise but was stopped.
[Tell me!] she demanded.
"23rd!" he shouted.
[Then I know.]
"Where!?"
[Just don't say anything… he's…]
Futo's eyes widened, his heart pounded rapidly and his mind went blank. He couldn't think of anything else apart from Syo and without a second thought he ran.
The words of Ema echoed in his head, it just brought question upon question into his unstable mind. Syo never gave any signs of what happened in his thoughts, let alone what happened in his past. He couldn't understand how no one but Rintarou and Ema knew, his mother must have found out.. did they not think it was important information to share? What about his two best friends, did they know?
He just kept running, he didn't want to stop, he just wanted to see Syo again. He pushed himself harder and harder, staggering up the concrete stairs.
[FLASHBACK]
[Today is the day of his father's death anniversary, it's been ten-years…] she whispered.
"What!? How!? When!?" Futo went into shock.
[Listen! If you want to know more ask him yourself! It is not my place to say! All i'm going to tell you is where he is and that's Atago Shrine, there's a long stair case. People say that if you climb them you win a favour from the Gods.]
"Why is he buried there?!" he asked, agitated.
[Didn't I just tell you!? Go and find him and ask him! He'll need you. Sayanora.]
[FLASHBACK END]
Finally he had reached the top of the ancient stairs. His head scanned the area taking everything in, it was beautiful. Everything was peaceful and all that was able to be heard was the wildlife. Birds flying from tree to tree, making homes for themselves and their families, it was sublime. The shrine itself was small, but it demanded respect of those who entered it's ground, it protect nature, people's prayers and their souls.
He stood in awe of it all. This was were he felt Syo was, he could just sense it as if calling to him. He looked around eagerly to see a small path lead off, his second nature was to follow it and he didn't stop himself.
He walked further in, passing into the vibrant alcove of trees that in the centre stood a gravestone. Knelt down in front was a small blond. The idol sighed in relief of the sight, he'd found him, finally. Stood a few feet away were a certain bluenette and pinkette, their hands clasped together in front and their heads bowed. They were all silent.
Though it was such a peaceful scene, Futo couldn't help but feel and urge. His back looked lonely and screamed sorrow, no one could just turn a blind eye. Futo wouldn't. He softly walked towards them, his head bowed to show respect. Momo and Shin opened an eye, seeing the brunette and being confused but they kept quiet.. it wasn't their place to intervene.
Arms appeared in front of Syo's face and slowly he felt an impact of another on his back. Their arms had wrapped around him, they held him tightly and shared their warmth.
"You're not alone. I'm here." he whispered into his ear and could feel his body tense.
"F-futo-nii? Why..?" he began to stutter, still in shock as tears streaked down his face.
"Shhhh… we're all here for you.. everyone. Masaomi, Ukyo, Hikaru, Louis, Kaname, Azusa, Tsubaki, Natsume, Subaru, Iori, Yuusuke and Wataru.. Ema, Rintarou, Miwa and of course me.. Shin and Momo." he whispered gently as the blond turned to hug him fully.
[Ryota Kurosawa
Beloved Father And A Hero
'Smile. Fight. Live.'
1974-2001]
"He's buried here because he saved a little girl. I saw it… We were waiting to cross the road, near this shrine.. when a little girl got separated from her okaa-san. She must have lost her hand as everyone rushed about in the crossing.. leaving her alone, stood in the middle of the road and the traffic started to go.. she was too small to see." he paused taking a deep breath. Shin and Momo were still praying, but you could see the tears that formed. "A truck came speeding down.. but he couldn't see her, nor hear her screams for her okaa-san. I could see her though, she was full of tears… pushing through the crowd as hard as she could in a panic… keeping a constant eye on her daughter who cried so much. When she had noticed the truck coming straight towards her child.. you could see it in her eyes. Desperation." he continued, remembering as if it was yesterday.
[FLASHBACK]
The young man watched the whole thing before his eyes. He was numb, he could only imagine what the woman was feeling, being so close and yet so far from your child that is in danger. He could also tell that no matter what… she wasn't going to make it in time. He looked downwards towards his son who was the spitting image of him, with love and loss in his emerald eyes.
He knew no one was going to help them and by how the light of his life held onto his hand, he could tell that he wasn't the only one. Quickly he knelt down, holding his six year old in his arms one last time.
"I love you, Syo. But tou-san needs to do this, if he doesn't then that little girl is in a lot of trouble. Do you understand?" he bravely said, looking his son in the eye and watching as he nodded, pursing his lips to not cry and stay strong for his father.
He pulled his son into his embrace once more, holding him close and burying his head into his child's small shoulder. He held him, tightly not wanting to let go but knowing that time was running out… and fast.
He smiled, removing the necklace around his neck that held a beam note, a dagger and a flame, before placing it on Syo who still forced a brave face.
"Syo, don't look so sad…" Ryota said with another smile, ruffling his son's blond hair.
"Smile. Fight. Live." he plucked up the courage to say, beaming a smile to his father.
Quickly Ryota kissed his forehead, letting it last just that second longer. He stood, looking at the little girl and then to the mother who was in a highly panicked state and then to the truck. Time was running out, he'd made up his mind and Kurosawa's never backed down. They never gave up. They fought for what was right.
He ran, desperately, towards the girl. Her mother became confused but still fought the crowd and his son, Syo watched in horror.
"DADDY!" the silence that had filled the roads broke from a scream that came from a little blond child.
He dashed to his dad who just led in the road, surrounded by blood. The little girl had been pushed out of the way was reunited with her mother, being held tightly in her arms.
Syo fell to his dad's side, holding back his tears and determined to not let them show. A hand touched his cheek, it was covered in blood but the little blond was too numb and focused to let it bother him. He held it in his small hands, placing the necklace between them, smiling continuously.
"You did it tou-san… so.. so… Smile. Fight…" he said, wanting his voice to stop breaking so he could keep his promise and smile.
"Live. Syo, you're.." he coughed, his voice was weak. "You're.. a strong boy… look after yourself, i'll … always be here. Never give up. I love you, you are m..my life, Syo." his voice turned into a whisper.
"I love you too! I love you! Please…Live…" he looked in his emerald eyes, their light was fading, the hand he held was weakening but his smile stayed.
There was no response, any life that remained had gone right before his eyes and in his arms. Syo shook his dad lightly, calling his name becoming more desperate each and every time. His head buried into his dads chest, holding onto him realizing what's finally happened. He couldn't hold it anymore. He cried, he broke, he screamed. The tears burst out, he didn't want to stop them all he wanted was for his father to live again.
The woman came over, shaking slightly as she hugged him, saying sorry for everything with her tear stained face.
"It's not.. your fault. He chose to do this because he wanted to." Syo said, still crying but he didn't want this woman to feel guilty.
He looked at his dad's body one last time, holding tight onto the necklace before being dragged away.
[FLASHBACK END]
Silence filled the area they all stood around, the brothers kept their distance having arrived at the start of him explaining what happened. Futo still embraced Syo in his arms, he wouldn't let go, not until he stopped shaking.
"Rintarou.. he found me on the street and took me in, he found me underweight, homeless and dirty. He adopted me the next day. Before that I was in an orphanage, and was mistreated by the first man who adopted me.. he abused me but thankfully I escaped from a random visit a social worker gave. That's when I ran away, and that's when I was found and became a Hinata.
Gomen! For not telling you all this, I just didn't find the right time. But now i'm an Asahina… and couldn't be more happy… I know Ryota is too. Ne, tou-san?" he spoke softly as he placed a hand on the grave smiling.
The Asahina's moved as one, bowing their heads and paying their respects. Syo smiled at this as they gave a moment of silence.
Smile. Fight. Live.
"Ryota. Please entrust Syo-chan to us, we will protect him from all harm and love him so much. He is now not just an Asahina, but still a Kurosawa. Arigatou for having such an amazing son." Futo said and bowed along with his brothers.
The sun set low in the sky, it was picturesque and the perfect way to end the day. Syo had placed a photo of him and his father in his room, they looked like brothers and so happy.
He rushed downstairs to where a film had been picked, '22 Jump Street' and take out at the ready. All the people he loved in one room, the brothers and his best friends, waiting for him to join.
Ryota… i'm so happy… I love you and miss you so much, but i'm smiling, fighting and living.
