(OC POV)
"Skystreak. Abigail was my past life." I said automatically when the room rang with silence for a few moments after he said my old name, the golden mech tilting his helm as he looked at me with the same bright blue optics that I fell in love with.
"Skystreak. Has a nice ring to it I guess." He said quietly as he moved his mouth slowly like he was trying to taste the new Bot name on his glossa, a frown marring his brow before he merely shrugged and started staring at me again like I was a puzzle.
"How are you?" I asked automatically again when the awkward silence coated the room while he was appraising my frame, sudden irritation flashing through his optics as he clenched his fists though he didn't make a move towards me.
"How am I? How am I!? I lost the love of my life years ago only to find out that she was reborn into a Decepticon body. For as long as I could remember I was raised and trained to hate Decepticons. Finding out that my sparkmate turned into one is not very comforting, back from the dead or not. So I'm not doing so great." He started off angry and icy before he lost his fire as his rant continued and his words finally got to him, his optics staring at the ground sadly as his frame bowed forward like he had lost the strength to stand straight.
"I'll leave then, if it bothers you that much." I said after I took in all his words and painfully processed just how much this situation was hurting him, looking at the doorway longingly as the strong urge to disappear forever took forefront in my processor.
"No! No…don't leave. I'm just confused. I don't know what to think. All I know is that when I look at your optics I see Abigail, but you aren't her. I hear you talk and see the way you move and my processor sees you as Abigail…but you're Skystreak." He said as his quiet tone took on slight confusion and he tilted his helm to once again appraise me thoroughly, my own confused frown appearing before I shook my helm and decided to just be grateful he wanted me around.
"I'm still her. Just…reborn." I said as I struggled to find a word that would fit this situation though there wasn't many to even begin with, the mech nodding slightly as if agreeing with the explanation before sighing and stepping up to me slowly.
"And that's what I'm trying to understand. But I don't want you to leave…no matter who you are now, you've always been my sparkmate. I just need to accept your new…form." He said and hugged my frame to his gently as he buried his helm into my neck cables and took a deep breath, my own green optics widening before I rested my own helm on his shoulder and took in his presence happily.
"Then space would be good…?" I started then trailed off slowly as we both pulled back and he smiled softly though it wasn't how he used to, his optics tightening in discomfort at what I assume was the thought of me leaving his sight for any amount of time.
"Just a bit." He said and that let me know that he wanted me within calling distance which meant not leaving the base, a soft and relieved smile coming to my expression as I nodded and took a few steps away from him hesitantly.
"Ok." I whispered softly before quickly turning on my heel struts and leaving the center then stopping just out of sight, a deep exhale leaving me in relief before a smile took over my features and joy spread throughout my spark.
"Told you so." Ratchet said from where he was leaning against the wall of the command central a few yards from me, my helm snapping up in surprise before my optics narrowed slightly at the smug air that he was putting off.
"Afthole." I snapped out before smiling softly and looking up at the sky as my spark lifted in freedom.
