Calling all the Hosts

I couldn't help the twitching that occurred as the clock inched ever closer to dismissal. I was starting to doubt agreeing to have a discussion with Kyoya. Flicking my eyes to the side I watched the shadow king and the fool prince taking notes. I couldn't even pretend to do that. My hands were shaking too much that they wouldn't be legible.

"See you after school, Ryo-Chan." The memory of Haninozuka's cute voice filled my head and the rest of me with fear. It wasn't meant to be a threat but it made it seem like the Host Club was going to get me.

Kyoya tipped his head and adjusted his glasses. My eyes snapped back to my own notebook. He saw me looking. Shit! They really were going to get me. I could out run Kyoya and Tamaki but no way in the seven circles of hell could I get away from Haninozuka and Morinozuka.

My face hit the desk with a moan. I really did not want to do this. What the hell was I thinking challenging Kyoya like that? He'll crush me in these so called 'negations'. Shit! Shit! Shit! I'm so screwed!

Snapping my head up I checked the clock. I would run; bolt out of the school like a fire ball. I packed up my things drawing the attention of students around me. I had two minutes to plot my escape course and get out. I would deal with tomorrow when it came.

The second hand slid around passing 12 and my feet twitched. I positioned my bag on my shoulder. 30 seconds. Kyoya glanced my way those sharp eyes and brain putting together my plan in a moment. A small knowing grin slipped across his face before he flipped open his phone.

10 seconds. I noticed Tamaki wasn't taking any notice of the events going on. 5 seconds…4 …3…2…Kyoya snapped his phone closed as the bell rang. I skirted around the edge of my desk and headed for the door. Catching the frame I side stepped around the corner keeping it tight. Sprinting towards the stairs I noticed signs. Detour signs. Something was with the front steps. Cloud Kyoya have…?

No! Impossible! There was no time. Turning a corner me boot squeak as I twisted on it before shooting off towards the other flight of stairs. Slipping in and around students I went to turn down another hall when something caught my arms. I spun slightly from my interrupted momentum and something else grabbed my other arm. My knees seized but I still tried to pull away.

I could feel fingers on my arms; hold me, restraining me. The events from the weekend flooded my memory and I was dragged stiffed legged somewhere. I should scream. I should scream really loud. Opening my mouth nothing came out. Scream you idiot! I tried again but it didn't work.

A buzzing of fear filled me head drowning out the most of the sounds around me. My vision was blurred but I could make out a set of doors closing cutting me off from the rest of the world. My lungs tightened as I tried to scream again but it only came out as a squeak. Damn it why couldn't I scream or make any really kind of noise. I was suddenly let go and stumbled to my knees.

My stomach rolled as muffled voices filtered through the buzzing in my head from around me. I slumped forward steading myself on my hands. Voices called out to me. Voices I knew. Raising my eyes I could see Tamaki almost in my face. He looked panicked as his mouth moved silent. I tried to right myself but my stomach rolled again. Slapping a hand over my mouth I moaned; "Bathroom."

It fell silent again. "Ryoko, are you okay?"

That voice was Haruhi. I fought back a gag trying to push back the memories. "Haru." I whimpered reaching out with my free hand.

"Here." She grabbed and I shuttered.

"I'm going to be sick." I ground out through clenched teeth. Haruhi helped me to my feet a lead the way to the bathroom. Before she closed the door I spotted Morinozuka and Haninozuka entering the room. They both stared and shame filled me. The moment the door shut I pulled away and staggered to the toilet. Losing my lunch, I coughed. I felt hands pulling my hair back away. I lost it again and heaved a few times with nothing coming up. I spit a few times trying to rid the taste from my mouth.

"Fucking weak." I moaned cursing myself mentally as I fought back another roll of sickness. Leaning back my hair was dropped and fell over my shoulder.

"You're not weak." Haruhi snapped kneeling down with a bottle of water.

I took it and rinsed my mouth before flushing. I stood and staggered towards the sink. I rinsed my mouth several more times and wiped some of the cool water over my face. Looking in the mirror I wanted to flinch away. My eyes were slightly red and my cheeks were splotchy. "Who grabbed me?" I grunted rinsing my mouth one last time before looking towards her.

"Hikaru and Karou."

"The twins, right?" I looked back at the mirror and rubbed my face. I caught her nodding in the reflection. Pushing off the sink I steadied myself after a bit of wobble. "Thanks, Haruhi."

"You know you're not weak, right?" She asked looking up at me.

"Haru, I got sick from a memory. I'd call that weak."

"What Tensinu did…"

"Was nothing." I snapped harsher than I wanted. "They beat me up a bit. That was it."

'He grouped you a little and would have done worse. Given the chance.' My mind hissed reminding me of my fear; making my stomach roll. "Let's get this over with." Pushing away the feeling we exited the bathroom.

"Are you feeling better Ryoko?" Kyoya asked nearly the second we came out of the bathroom.

I shot a glance at the twins ready to chew them out but they were avoiding my line of sight. "Yeah, I'm fine." I grumbled turning my attention back to the shadow king. "I'm not going to tell anyone about Haruhi being a girl. So I don't see what the point of this is."

Tamaki was suddenly in front of me. "You know Haruhi's secret!" He shouted and I flinched back as he tried to grab me. There was a split second of panic before I was twisted away from his reach. When that second passed there was a blue suit in my vision. Lifting my head I followed it up to see Morinozuka between Tamaki and I.

"Mori-sempi." Tamaki said softly. I spotted Kyoya taking notes before someone pulled lightly on my hand.

"You okay, Ryo-chan?" Haninozuka asked when I looked down at him.

"I'm good. Just…" I ran a hand though my hair with a sigh. Stepping around Morinozuka I looked at the other members of the Host Club. "Yeah I know about Haruhi. We're friends." My attention turned directly to Kyoya. "So what do you want?"

"I wasn't going to bring up the fact that you know about Haruhi." He spoke slowly before looking up at me. "I wanted to discuss your history grades and the events of the weekend." I felt the muscles in my back tighten. "Also the fact that you have been the target of bulling by Ayanokoji."

"I don't think the first or the last are a matter of your importance. And as for this week…for what happened." I said stumbling. "As I told Haruhi nothing happened. He just scared me a bit."

"And beat you up." Haruhi added. I couldn't stop the glare I shot her.

"Yeah, he laid into my face too. It's not that big of deal." I grunted crossing my arms over my chest. I had to keep telling myself that. I don't know what would happen if I didn't.

"If you recall what I told you on your first day." Kyoya paused letting me think.

"Tamaki is sometimes very naive but I would not allow him to associate with someone that would ruin his, mine or any of our friends' reputations." The words came back to me and I nodded.

"So that's what this is about." He nodded. "So how do you want to fix this?"

"You will join the Host Club and assist in the daily workings of the club."

"So you want me to clean and serve the guests?"

Again he nodded. "I believe this will benefit all parties included."

I sighed and closed my eyes for a moment. I really didn't have a choice and a bit of backup at times would be nice. I opened my eyes for a moment to look at Morinozuka. I couldn't help but notice how he was watching me; waiting for my answer. My face flushed and I looked away. Did he want me to say yes? "Sure Kyoya. I'll work for the Host Club."

"Very good and because we can't have your grades dropping below expectable levels Morinozuka has agreed to be your tutor in history."

My arms dropped to my side and I stared startled at Kyoya. "Wait, what?"
