A/N: Hey everyone, I'm sorry I know it's been forever since my last update! I promise I will try my best not to take that long with chapter 12! Anyway, I hope you enjoy...I kinda went with my own ideas and strayed away from TO and TVD a bit. The things that may happen to them may not happen in the shows, or I may have forgotten certain things (like if Bonnie could use magic while dead) so I just winged it and added my own twist. I hope you guys enjoy!
Disclaimer: I do not own TVD or TO
The sun was rising; the beautiful shades of various hues of orange and red appeared in the sky as dawn approached. Bonnie walked the bare streets of New Orleans.
She was alone, which was something she needed to get used to. After all, she couldn't expect Jer to constantly be there.
She didn't see a loop hole that could bring her back from the dead. She told herself at least a dozen times throughout the day that she just needed to accept her death.
Stop it…your main focus is to save Caroline. You have plenty of time to dwell on your own issues. She mentally reminded herself. Right now, the most important thing was Caroline.
The church seemed to sneak up on her out of nowhere; she stood twenty five feet from the entrance.
Bonnie inhaled deeply, clenching her fists. "Alright little witch…let's see if you're going to make this easy for me, or difficult." She walked straight through the door, no sense in taking the time to will it open.
She sensed Davina the moment she entered the church, and headed to the back easily finding the hidden stairwell.
The sensation Bonnie felt heightened. "This must be the way…" She walked up the flight of stairs trying her best to stabilize the sensation of power she felt radiating off of Davina with each step she took.
Bonnie heard a door creak, when she ascended at the top of the staircase she noticed the door on her far right cracked only just.
"Why don't you just tell me what you want and leave?" A voice said from inside of the room.
Bonnie entered the room, examining her surroundings.
She noticed all of the canvases full of paintings. Each and every one was empty and dark.
Davina sat in the center of the room, easel and brush in hand.
Elijah's coffin was placed no more than ten feet from the girl.
"I want him." Bonnie pointed at the sealed coffin before her.
"Not a chance…that's an original. He's up here until I can figure out how to kill them."
Bonnie made her way toward Davina her patience for this girl at a zero. "I need him to save my friend, Caroline. After that, you can do what you want with the Original family."
"Marcel told me all about Caroline, she's the enemy. She's no better than them." She nodded her head in the direction of the occupied coffin, informing Bonnie of who Caroline was no better than exactly.
Bonnie's fuse was short this morning, and Davina was stubborn. "Marcel lied to you."
"You're wrong. He would never lie to me." She dipped her brush in the splatter of black paint that was on the easel.
"If you believe that, then you are as naïve as he sees you." Bonnie told the girl coldly.
With the flick of her wrist, Davina sent Bonnie crashing into the wall across the room."You can't beat me."
Bonnie got to her feet slowly, the wind outside rattling the shutters that rested over the only window in the attic. "I'd think twice before saying that."
Davina didn't know how or what had happened, the next thing she knew she was lying on the ground across the attic trying to catch her breath.
Bonnie reached her hand out toward the coffin, flicking her wrist and commanding it to open.
She willed the blade out of Elijah's chest swiftly.
Elijah gasped for breath; sucking in as much oxygen as possible.
The ashen gray of his skin lifted, the vibrancy of life awakening inside of him once more.
Davina stared at the scene that had just played out before her dumbfounded.
She fixated her gaze on Bonnie. "Who are you?" She whispered trying to hide the tremble in her voice.
"Who I am doesn't concern you." Bonnie walked over to the coffin helping Elijah out of it slowly.
She held him upright, giving him a chance to regain his balance.
that's not going to happen again." Her eyes found the dagger that now lie on the floor, she focused on it, lifting it with her mind wanting with every ounce of her being to thrust it back into the original vampire that it came out of.
Bonnie glanced at the young witch, quickly knocking the dagger back to the ground easily overpowering Davina.
"How can you keep doing that?!" Davina shouted, crossing her arms in a pout.
Bonnie shrugged. "You know as well as I do that I'm dead, but I didn't cross over...and for some reason I can still use my powers."
Elijah gently pushed off of Bonnie trying his best to stand on his own two feet.
Davina shook her head in protest over and over again. "That's impossible; once a witch dies…they lose their abilities. Unless-"
"Unless they belong to one of the three most powerful bloodlines." Elijah spoke softly, undoubtedly shocking them both.
"Davina, I'd like to introduce you to Miss Bonnie Bennett." No words were needed after the introduction, fear and silence hung in the air.
Davina was full of shock and fear, instead of challenging Bonnie and her abilities; she decided not to test it any more than it needed to be.
She let them leave the attic, giving Elijah her word that she would not mention anything that had occurred to Marcel.
Elijah and Bonnie picked up there pace, heading toward his old home. "What has happened?" He asked in a pensive tone.
He sensed that things weren't right.
Bonnie furrowed her brow in confusion, noticing the difference between Elijah and everyone else. "How can you see me?"
He exhaled, keeping his eyes on what was ahead of him. "I may have seemed to be in a slumber while I was daggered, but you could have considered me dead. To make more sense of this to you, when you pulled that dagger out the afterlife still lingered inside of me, it still is as we speak. I can see you because I'm not fully on this side yet." He glanced at Bonnie; she was looking at him with a questioning expressing on her face.
"We must hurry, the effects will were off soon. Now tell me…what has happened?"
"It's Caroline." Bonnie said, looking Elijah right in the eye.
They stopped dead in their tracks; he turned his attention to the witch.
"Has anyone told Niklaus?" He asked.
She shook her head, the tears brushing over her eyelashes. "Marcel has done terrible things to her."
Elijah simply nodded, now everything was beginning to make sense.
They began walking again, still in the direction of their old mansion. "This is not our fight; he is using Caroline to weaken Niklaus."
Bonnie stopped, grabbing him by the arm forcing him to face her. "What do we do?"
"We need to tell my brother…and pray for Marcel. Once my brother finds out, Marcel won't live long enough to ask for forgiveness."
Klaus was silent, he was glad the day was coming to an end.
The sooner his favor to Damon was up, the quicker he could get back to his own business back in New Orleans.
He leaned back on the couch, trying his best to relax with a glass of bourbon in his hand that Damon insisted he drank to take his mind off of things-things meaning Caroline.
There was one thought that continued to plague him; when had he become so weak?
He tried his best not to think like that, when it came to Caroline she did something to him….made him feel consideration, compassion, even love.
It was something he learned that he could not control long ago.
He heard the frantic footsteps approach the door of the Salvatore's home. Damon seemed to be on the same page, coming out from behind the bar he headed toward the front door but she walked in just before he reached it.
The panic she displayed was overwhelming. "Damon…it's been at least two weeks and Caroline hasn't been at school. The only thing I could think of would be that she decided to come home for a while…but I called Ms. Forbs and-"
"What is it, Elena? What about Caroline?" The second her name was mentioned Klaus reacted.
He didn't like the fear Elena displayed, it made him worry.
Elena paused at the sight of Klaus at first, she looked between Damon and him…trying to figure out what exactly an enemy was doing cozied up in Damon and Stefan's home.
Klaus read the confusion rather quickly, and decided to save her the trouble. "Damon needed a favor, and he was much obliged that he received my help."
Elena only nodded; she had bigger concerns than Klaus right now. "Klaus, no offense but our problems with Caroline don't concern you."
Klaus walked up to Elena trying to remain as cool and collect as he could.
His walk was cold and menacing.
Elena pressed herself against Damon, unsure of what Klaus was planning.
He approached her, his face only inches away from hers.
He assumed that the more fear she felt the more likely she would be to really comprehend and listen to what he was about to say.
"Ah love, Caroline is my concern…it will be best to explain everything to me." He moved in even closer, confident that Elena would agree to let him help. "It will be better for you; to have me on your side love…don't you think?"
Elena's courage peaked and she shoved Klaus out of her face and away from her.
"You want to be on our side? The same man who always had ulterior motives and dishonorable intentions whenever we did need you on our side?" She did not stand down; her guard was up full force.
In Elena's eyes, Niklaus Mikaelson could never be trusted.
"Have a little faith love. Everyone is capable of change…"
Elena thought it over….what other choice did she have? Klaus would be a good asset if something did happen to Caroline.
"fine." She said, finally agreeing. "But I still don't trust you."
Klaus smiled icily, nodding his head in understanding. "Now, what's happened with Caroline?"
"She's gone." Elena said, trying her best to keep her composure.
Klaus did his best to keep his feelings in check…as he flipped those words Elena spoke over and over in his mind, his cell phone went off.
He reached into his pocket, seeing that it was his brother he reluctantly answered. "Yes brother, I'm a bit busy can't this-"
Elijah didn't have the time or patience to listen to what Niklaus had to say. "Brother…you need to come home. It's Caroline." He got straight to the point.
Klaus' eyes widened in shock, and the hand that held the cell phone began to shake.
No good news could come to what he was about to be told, he felt it.
He closed his eyes, not wanting to ask his brother what happened, not wanting to know.
"Brother, what's happened to Caroline?" Klaus voice was tight with fear; his words came out in a rugged whisper.
"Marcel has her…you need to get back here, now." The phone dropped from Klaus hand, he stared unconsciously into nothingness, trying to understand what he had just been told.
The voices were a muffled echo when he finally snapped back to reality.
He was unsure of how long he was lost in his thoughts, and did not care.
The only thing that mattered was getting to Caroline.
The fear Klaus felt after hearing the news was gone.
It was replaced with white hot anger, and Klaus was seeing red. "Marcel, you will pay for this."
