It's Sunday again! Kind of a short chapter, and the next chapter is short to. But I hope you enjoy it anyway.
Chapter Eleven
When I woke up the next morning, all the sickness from the day before was gone. I sat up; I was a little weak, but I didn't feel sick anymore.
Thank god. I don't think I could've handled anymore of that nasty virus. I looked over to Jake, who was still snoozing in my bed. I checked his temperature, it was normal. Good.
I quietly got out of bed and walked into the kitchen. Dad was standing at the counter, eating some toast.
"How are you feeling?" I asked as I poured myself some water.
"I feel fine. I think it passed." He said as he took another bite.
"Good," I took a big sip of my water, "I'll wash your stuff tonight."
"You don't have to Bells. I can wash it when I get home."
"I know, but you don't want to wash clothes right when you get home tomorrow. It's no trouble to me."
He kissed my cheek, "Thanks Bella. I don't know what I'd do without you."
I stuck some bread in the toaster, my fingers tapping against the counter. I was having trouble keeping quiet.
"Come on, Bells, go ahead and ask it."
I sighed, "You're going to say no, so I'm not even going to ask this type."
"C'mon, it's tradition. You always ask."
I grabbed my toast and turned to face him, "Dad, will you please consider moving here with Jake and me. We have plenty of room, and we'd really love for you to be here."
"Thanks, but I'm settled where I am."
I laughed, shaking my hand, "See, why do I bother asking anymore?"
"Well, maybe one day I will. Just not this time."
I snorted and rolled my eyes. Jake walked into the kitchen, rubbing his eyes.
"Mama, what's for breakfast?"
"You want some cereal baby? Maybe tonight we could go out to eat—," I paused, suddenly remembering a prior engagement, "Oh crap. Uh, dad, can you give Jake some cereal? I'll be right back."
I ran back to my room and grabbed my cellphone. I had three missed calls from Edward. Shit. I didn't even hear my phone ringing last night. Damn it, I hoped he wasn't mad.
I dialed the number, my leg bouncing nervously. He picked up on the third ring.
"Hello?"
"I am so sorry," I said, "I got sick yesterday with that Norovirus and I just passed out and I didn't even hear my phone."
He laughed loudly, "It's okay. I'm just glad you called me. I thought maybe you had gotten sick, but I was kind of nervous that you were blowing me off."
I chuckled, "No, I'd never blow you off. I'm really sorry about last night. Do you think we could reschedule for next weekend? I can't do anything tonight, it's my dad's last night in town, but I'm free all next weekend."
"Yeah, that works out great. Rose is going to a sleepover Saturday night. Would that work?"
"Next Saturday is perfect. I promise I won't get sick."
He laughed, "That's good to hear. I'll see you Saturday, around 6:00?"
"6:00 is great. Goodbye Edward." I smiled.
"Goodbye Bella."
I hung up the phone, the smile still on my face. I was so glad he wasn't angry and still wanted to go out with me.
Edward's POV
I was so happy she called me back. I couldn't get rid of the big goofy smile on my face. I knew that she had probably been sick, but, a little part of me was scared that she had blew me off.
I pulled up to that girl's house Rosalie was staying out. I was getting ready to get out and go get her, but she ran out, her bag over her shoulder. She jumped into my car.
"Hey, did you have a good time?"
"Yeah, it was a lot of fun," She smiled widely, "Tanya's so cool! Her dad said that she can get a little tattoo next year for high school! Isn't that so cool!"
My brows raised but I refrained from speaking ill of the girl's parents. I guess it's no surprise, I mean, any parents that would let a 14-year-old get a belly ring.
"Dad, you know, maybe I could—,"
"I'll go ahead and stop you right there," I said, "You're not getting a tattoo."
"No, not a tattoo," She said, "I was thinking that… maybe I could get my bellybutton pierced?"
"Absolutely not."
"Why?" She said.
"Because, for one, you're way to young. And secondly, there's no need for it. You're not showing off your bellybutton to anyone. You're not getting any piercings like that."
She rolled her eyes, "Dad, you're so lame."
"Eh, it's not my job to be cool sweetie. It's my job to be your dad and make sure you don't make any decisions that you'll regret later on in life."
She sighed heavily, her head thumping against the window.
Bella's POV
Phew, I didn't think I was going to make it to lunch. I had to pee so bad. I went to the closest bathroom to me, which was the girl's bathroom. Unfortunately, my classroom was all the way on the other side of the building.
I sighed, once I got into the stall. Damn. Three hours was to long of a wait.
"Rosalie is a such prude."
I heard a girl say when she entered the bathroom.
"I mean, she's okay," another one said.
"No, she's a total prude. Stuck up to. She just thinks cause her dad is a doctor she's better than everyone else."
I walked out of the stall, brushing my skirt down, "Girls, let's not be catty." I said.
"We're not being catty, Mrs. Swan." The blond smiled widely.
I washed my hands, "I certainly hope not. Because you don't want to be glue."
"Huh?" The other girl said.
I fixed my hair in the mirror, "Rubber and glue girls. Anything you say, bounces off and sticks back to you." I walked by them and smiled as I walked by. They smiled as well, but I knew that they were secretly annoyed that I stuck my nose in their business. But they couldn't say anything back. I was a teacher.
I walked back into my classroom and straight to my desk. I needed to get some work done before my next period.
Edward's POV (Saturday Night)
"Alright Rose, if you need me, I'll have my phone on me." I said as I pulled up to Tanya's house.
"I know dad, I'll see you later." She said as she got out and caught up with the other girls walking into the house. Tanya was standing on the porch wearing shorts that came up to the crack of her butt. Dear god, please don't let Rosie be getting any ideas.
I drove to the Sushi place that Bella and I were meeting at. It was an upscale place, so I had my nice green tie on. Elizabeth had picked it out for me years ago and I always wore it. She had said it matched my eyes.
I pulled into the Sushi place just as Bella pulled in. Great timing. I stepped out of my car, smiling at her.
"You look great," I said; she did look great. She was wearing a blue fitted dress.
"Thanks, you don't look so bad yourself." She smiled.
I laughed and adjusted my tie, "Well, I try my best with what I have."
We walked into the restaurant, "Hi, we have reservations under Cullen."
"Yes, Mr. Cullen right this way."
The hostess led us to the square table. We choose two seats on the corner of the stove.
"I didn't know this was a cook-in-front of you place," Bella said as I tucked her chair underneath her.
"Yeah, I hope that's okay. Rose and I love this place. We go here every year for her birthday."
"Jake would love a place like this. Dinner and a show, maybe he'd actually eat all his food." She laughed.
I smiled, a good feeling washing over me. I think this was actually going to be a good date.
