My body crashed into his. There was no pain, only anger and adrenaline. Scales and fire coming together, scraping, ripping, falling.

We were falling.

Our wings were entangled, our claws reached out desperately for air, he cried out in surprise and I screamed an infuriated response. It didn't matter. Nothing mattered except the burning buildings, my home, and the red headed boy waiting for my return.

The trees whooshed past. I was hit everywhere. It didn't matter. He was too. And when we finally hit the ground, the Earth shook beneath us in terror.

When we stood we were human.

He had black hair, like me. And though we were siblings, his eyes were red where mine were green. He stared at me. And I stared back. My eyebrows creased, my teeth bared, a growl in my throat. He took a step forward, his naked body completely devoid of scales, also unlike me. My arms had more scales, more spikes than they ever had before. I could feel them tight on my skin, creeping up my neck to my cheeks.

He was perfect.

I resented him for it.

"Aven," I felt that growl rip through me as I said his name. "How dare you? How dare you!"

His form straightened. His bronze skin glowing. A smirk on those lips and underneath them his pointed teeth gleamed. "Anora, my dear sister, not happy to see me?"

"Auugh!"

Rage ripped through me and I leapt towards him. He dodged me easily.

"I've been looking for you for ages," he said calmly, still averting me, "Haven't you missed me at all?"

I stopped trying to fight him. Clearly he was more used to this body than I. "Not after what you did," I decided to respond. "Even after all this time, I don't think I have forgiven you."

Aven's smirk twisted into a frown. He has always been so self-centered. Of course he would come rushing in to find me, making a huge scene, expecting me to have already forgiven him. But how could I? After the war we fought together, his betrayal is something that still hangs heavily in my heart. Apparently his heart is over it. Unbelievable.

"Even after all this time-"

His sentence is interrupted by the sound of heavy footsteps, running steps, crashing through the forest towards us.

In the back of my mind, I just knew it had to be Hiccup. He was always the one in danger, always looking for trouble, following his heart. It had to be Hiccup, about to get in-between this very dangerous family reunion. The steps were getting closer, and the wind pushed scents towards my nose. Smoke, fur, sweat, metal and… Hiccup.

Panic rose within me, not for the first time today. I noticed Aven sniffing the air as well and he licked his lips, quickly, without even fully realizing he was doing it. I couldn't stand for it.

I pounced towards my brother, my body erupting in scales once more, my teeth becoming sharp, my wings spreading, and his body did the same. Though he was bigger, my teeth latched firmly onto his neck before he could get on top of me.

With my teeth full of his flesh, I spread my wings and beat into the air as hard and fast as I could. I knew I wouldn't be able to fly, but I wanted to get out of the woods, get away before Hiccup found us. I retracted my teeth and kicked off of Aven's body to get a head start into the air. I knew he would follow me. He had to follow me.

As we took off, I looked back to see Hiccup and Stoick gaping at us. I saw Hiccup's mouth form the word, "Toothless?"

And as I was looking back, I saw that Aven had turned to see them as well.

He wasn't following me.
