Here I Am

Chapter 11

Naruto opened his eyes in the morning and winced at the sunlight coming in through the gap in the long white curtains that adorned the windows near his bed. There time at the hot springs had passed and it was time to continue their journey towards the Hyuuga clans training facilities. The last few days had gone so fast and he was happy with the way the scenario had played out. Hinata and himself hadn't kissed since the other night and he didn't think it was going to happen again for some time, he wanted to get to know her. The blonde, half asleep, forced himself out of his bed and into the bathroom to brush his teeth. However when he opened the door someone else was already doing the same thing.

Hinata looked over to him and then back to the mirror that she had been previously concentrating on before becoming embarrassed by small amount of toothpaste that had stuck itself in the corner of her mouth. Naruto gave her a nervous smile and began to back out of the room, "Ah gomen, Hinata-chan" he apologized taking a step back.

A small hand gripped his forearm and he looked up at the beautiful kunoichi who was signalling him that it was alright. In a shy manner he slid next to her at the sink and began to spread toothpaste onto his toothbrush, when he looked over at Hinata she was staring at the ground with a slight blush over her cheeks. He noticed the tiny spot of toothpaste on her face and his lips curved into a smile.

"Oh no!" he shouted in a monotonous voice after pretending to slip on the sink.

Hinata came to his aid with worry present in her eyes, this quickly changed to laughter when Naruto looked up with toothpaste smudged all over his face.

"I'm so god damn clumsy" he said in a fake voice, trying not to laugh.

Hinata gently pushed his arm before helping the blonde up from the ground. The teenagers finished up in the bathroom and began packing their belongings away for the journey that was ahead of them.

Naruto changed into Kiba clothes and continued his Henge, he felt weird pretending to be one of his friends but he had no choice in the matter, it was safer for him – and his current comrades – this way.

Picking up his backpack, he turned to Hinata, "you know Hinata... I've always considered you one of my closest friends and my friends are the most valuable thing to me. If you ever need anything, or any help, feel free to ask me," he moved towards her and bent down, "I'll always be here for you"

He reached out for her hand but she pulled it away very quickly, "Hinata?" he asked, confused.

She looked up nervously and smiled at him, "I-I-It's nothing Naruto-kun, you better hurry downstairs to meet with Kakashi-sensei and Kurenai-sensei or you will get in trouble. I'll meet you down there" she continued to smile at him while she rolled up her clothes and packed them away into her purple backpack.

Naruto stood up and walked over to the door, he hesitated in the doorway for a moment as a sickening feeling took over his stomach Hinata-chan he thought to himself looking back at the Hyuuga heiress. He watched as her purple hair fell from behind her ears and gently rested against her rosy red cheeks.

Sighing he left the room and began to tread down the corridor and steps that would lead him outside.

"Naruto!" called out a familiar voice, he turned and saw that he had just passed his teacher, "What are you doing?" his teacher questioned.

"Ah... I'm just going to go get some breakfast; Hinata is still packing so I gathered I would have enough time. Is that alright?" Naruto looked towards the ground and turned around before a response was heard.

"Ah I... guess so" muttered Kakashi as his student wandered off.

"Where is he going?" Kurenai poked the sharingan user in the face as she spoke, "He looks grumpy... like you, don't tell me you're rubbing off on him!"

Kakashi shifted his head and bit Kurenai's finger.

"Itai! Itai!" she shouted rubber her injury, "Kakashi, that's no way for a teacher to act!"

"Look at yourself when you say that Kurenai... plus my student is the one who is ready to go, shouldn't you go check on Hinata and make sure she is nearly ready", Kakashi sat down on the bench next to him and pulled out his favourite book, escaping to another world and drowning out Kurenai completely.

Meanwhile Naruto had somehow ended back at that same bench, the one where they had kissed. He sat still looking out over the park that he hadn't realised was there before. 'What did I do, I don't understand'

"Argh!" he shouted in frustration, slamming his feet on the ground.

"So Naruto-kun... this is where you have been hiding haha how trivial, those pills only work if you stay in henge form" an evil laughter followed from a shadow in the trees next to the park. A foot stepped out into the sunlight.

Naruto shot up from the bench gripping a kunai from his holster, "Who are you! Don't make me kick your arse" he threatened, readying himself for an attack.

"You really let your guard down around that girl... Naruto-kun, otherwise I wouldn't of stumbled across you, it must be a sign from god"

"W-What are you talking about! Who are you! Why are you following me!" Naruto was confused, he didn't recognize the voice of the stranger, but that sickening feeling in his stomach had gotten even worse.

"Two birds with one stone... I guess everything is going my way haha", the strangers words echoed in Naruto's head.

The blonde furrowed his eyebrows and made the sign for kage bunshin no jutsu, "Two? What do you-" he was cut off as a heavy metal object slammed into the back of his head and he fell to his knees, consciousness slipping away quickly.

The figure behind him stepped back and began walking away from the jinchuriki.

Naruto's eyes glanced at the ground before he fell backwards, twisting his body as he fell in order to land on his stomach. His eyelids began to close as he watched his attacker walk towards the accommodation of the site. He let out a gasp and his eyes widened as he realised what the stranger meant by 'two birds'.

With his last ounce of strength he extended his arm in front of him, almost as if trying to grab for something, "Hi...nata...chan" he whispered before losing consciousness.
