Sorry this chapter's late (Don't stone me or snap my neck) but I got home late last night from a hockey tournament. Please review with questions and comments. And yes to clarify Jeremy died last chapter, but thanks to the magical Gilbert ring he came back to life, the way I see it he was suffering from the venom until he officially died from blood loss. So thanks, and here's the next chapter. Love you peeps :)
"Mary certainly is a hoarder." I say trailing my fingers over all of the seemingly useless objects.
"What did you expect she was going crazy when we met her." Kol said tossing around a baseball bat.
"I don't know. I'm going to use the guest bedroom wake me when anything important happens." I say tiredly.
"Edward!" I call out to the retreating figure reaching out as his face morphs into one with a stronger chin and kind eyes, Elijah. He turns around and walks away but I catch up to him and turn him around facing Kol. His eyes are full of hatred. I take a step back and then a stake appears in his hand. "What are you doing," I ask worriedly looking into his playful brown eyes that change from Kol's to Edward's to Elijah's rotating between people I love or loved. They stab me through the heart and I crumple to the ground.
I pull out the stake in what seems like minutes later and stand up in time to see a bonfire. The flames being fed by the staked body of Kol. I fall down to my knees too weak to stand and unable to tear my eyes away.
"Tia? Tia! What is it what's wrong?" Kol says throwing the door to Scary Mary's guest bedroom open baseball bat in hand ready for a fight. He calms down seeing no threat and sits down on the edge of my bed taking me into his arms. "I heard you screaming," he began.
"It was just a dream," I said shushing him and repeating it once more to reassure myself. He calmly rubs my back and buries his face in my hair. We stay like that until we hear movement outside. He draws away planting a quick kiss on my lips and disappearing downstairs.
"Shame about Mary, she was a blast. Don't know what quite happened. You know all the time she spent with my family could've ruined her. She was a bit of an original groupy." Kol's voice said mockingly downstairs. I sighed and disappeared downstairs staying hidden and not stealing Kol's show, until he went after Elena.
"Leave my bloodline alone. Unless her name starts with a K and ends in an aterina. You will not kill anyone from my doppelganger line." I hiss slapping his hand away from her and standing between them. "We have enough stress as it is," I mutter while he returns his attention to Damon.
"Hey I just want to be even," Kol began. "Now we are," he said triumphantly after beating him up with an aluminum bat many times.
"I however want you dead. But I'm not allowed to kill you darling. But someday it'll just be me, you and a wooden stake; and I can't wait for that day." I say staring him down.
"I will kill her," I hear him mutter as I walk out the door casually instead of taking off vamp speed like Kol did. I pause and turn at the door with a sweet smile on my face.
"Just a tip, if you did manage to kill me. You would end all vampires, including yourself, something to chew on." I say sweetly before taking my time and walking out of the house leisurely.
"I don't have all night m'lady," Kol called out teasingly from behind the wheel of the car.
"When did you learn how to drive?"
"I didn't."
"Then get out of the front seat smarts. I don't feel like a car crash tonight."
"You ruin all the fun Tia."
"Yeah I'm a buzz kill that doesn't feel like teaching you how to drive," I say getting in the driver's seat and starting the car only to pause. "Where should we go? We could go to New York City, LA, somewhere in Canada, I haven't been to New Orleans for a long time." I mused remembering the witch infested area. They left me alone as long as I did the same for them. One of my friends had been the one to tell me about the originals being in town. I found out a dew years later it was because Elijah was dating her. I didn't mourn her death, but I didn't kill her either, she tried to help me find Kol and gave me the advice of starting over somewhere new. I looked at him while he fussed with the glove compartment pulling out a paper map. He unfolded it and lay it flat. It was a road map of New York state.
"Close your eyes." He said patiently, I did not knowing what he meant to do. "Okay now choose a spot on the map." I placed my finger down lightly but firmly and opened my eyes.
"Syracuse?" I mused.
"Let's go to Syracuse then," he said calmly as if the decision wasn't that important. I guess it wasn't either, at least not when you live forever.
"Are you sure? I've never seen you anywhere besides a big city," I said thoughtfully entering it into the GPS.
"Well maybe there is a big city along the way that we'll stay in. Nothings set in stone Tia. We can go anywhere we want. Maybe we'll reach Syracuse in a week, maybe in a century or two. Maybe we will even take a trip to Paris again just to dance in the street."
"There's always Mardi Gras. That would be fun." I said smiling as the car started moving to the future whatever it may hold.
"No Rebekah, we don't want to go to some stupid 20's dance. We're less than an hour away and I won't stop till we're there. Well kidding we just stopped for food." I paused my phone rant and looked into the quaint diner we stopped in where Kol was sipping coffee. my eyes widened when I noticed the couple that just sat down. The guy had caramel curly hair with long sleeves that hid scars from vampire bites, Jasper. The perky pixie cut dark haired girl beside him was Alice. I was sure of it. "Goodbye Bekah I got to go." I hung up and walked into the diner sliding onto a stool next to Jasper.
"What are you two doing here besides not eating?" I ask absently shooting Kol a later look.
"Looking for you," Alice chirped in her sing-song voice.
"Well you found me, what's so important and how did you find me anyway?"
"Esther sent us." I tensed as the name rolled off Alice's tongue and immediately looked around the diner, Kol was beside me sitting in a protective manner on the stool beside mine.
"Why would she send you?"
"She knew you would hear us out. She wants your stake."
"Of course she does. Will she get it? No she won't." I was about to stand up and leave when Jasper caught my arm and sent a wave of calm throughout me. I snarled and yanked my arm away from him trying to overcome the drowsiness I was feeling. "Jasper I don't want to hurt you but I will if I have to. Same goes for you Alice," I mumbled sleep taking over me.
"What did you do to her mate?" I heard Kol thunder before sleep claimed me.
"Wh-what happened?" I murmur waking slowly. The memories of last night coming back slower than my awakening.
"Don't worry your safe. You dropped to the ground and then everyone in the diner suddenly had wooden stakes and were coming after you. I got you out of there before anyone did any actual damage. I couldn't find the two you were talking to before all of the chaos though so they aren't dead," Kol said next to me where he was quietly playing with my hair like nothing bad recently happened. We were in what looked like a hotel room on a king size bed with a white duvet, sheets and pillows. The walls were cream colored and the carpet a mustard yellow color. Kol had a baseball game playing on the flat screen.
"Where are we?" I said glancing towards him remembering my short conversation with Alice and Jasper then looked at my feet for my boots only to find them gone. "Where is the stake?" I ask panic leaking through my voice.
"In some hotel. What stake?"
"Shit Alice must've grabbed it while you threatened Jasper with a fork." I muttered when I found my boots devoid of any wooden stakes white oak or not. I pulled my phone out of my pocket and called Rebekah. When she didn't answer I simply yelled into the phone telling her to answer it or she'll end up with a stake knife through her heart and in a coffin. Yep I was mad. I dialed Nik's number and waited for him to answer silently daring him to not in my head. He answered on the fourth ring. "Nik your mother is back and she has a white oak stake. Now if this ends up being the last time I talk to you I will kill you and then kill you again to make sure you get the point."
"No all of the white stakes were burned."
"Except for the one I had which was taken from me when your mother arranged an attack against me. I'm on my way to Mystic Falls with Kol. I want to know she's dead before I try to live somewhere again."
"She is, she tried to make a weapon and failed to do so. Want me to send a picture of the body?"
"Alaric Saltzman just tried to kill me," Rebekah's voice rang out on the other end.
"Alaric Saltzman is supposed to be dead." Nik said.
"Well he's not and he's a vampire thanks to mother's spell with a white oak stake that can't kill him. He's strong Nik, too strong."
"Where is he now?" Nik asked an obviously worried Rebekah.
"Stuck at the school without a daylight ring, but as soon as night falls he'll come after us. We need to leave now."
"Whoa wait a second. What spell did Esther use?" I called out.
"The spell mother used to turn us into vampires," Nik said.
"Is Elena still alive as a human?" I ask knowing how the spell works better than anyone besides Esther herself.
"Yes but I don't know why that matters," Nik answered.
"It matters because I had to die in order for the spell to be complete. One of the side effects was that I'd rise again too as a vampire stronger than those turned with my blood. I'd guess that your mother somehow figured out how to bend the rules so that Alaric gained the extra power. He'll have a weakness, he can't be truly immortal. Good luck, I don't want to be attending either of your funerals. Bye and stay safe," I say hanging up.
"So what now?" Kol asked above the sounds of the baseball game.
"Now we get on a plane and head back to Mystic Falls. We both know Nik will end up trying to get rid of Alaric and mess it up."
"He always messes up when it comes down to killing important people," Kol mused jumping to his feet and turning off the game.
"Do you want to call the airport or should I?"
"I'll do it. Humans these days amuse me. They seem to lack common sense." Kol said grabbing his phone as we walked out the door leaving me to run after him.
