A.N. Yeah, I know it's been forever but I haven't given up yet. It may take a while but I am determined to eventually finish this story. There will be more to come so please review so I can improve!

It wasn't long after Jacob left that he returned with Sam in tow. They were in mid- conversation and neither looked very happy. The only difference was that Sam still appeared to be thinking straight. He was the first to speak.

"We have to at least try to solve this peacefully. I don't like them any more than you do but if it comes to a fight no matter who wins, a lot will be lost and I am not willing to sacrifice my pack!" I was definitely on Sam's side in this.

"Yeah, why can't we all just be friends?" I spoke up, causing all eyes to snap back to Fang and me as if just realizing we were still here. They apparently decided to ignore my comment because Jacob turned back to Sam to continue their conversation.

"The Cullens are harboring possibly dangerous creatures! How can we possibly solve this peacefully? They have broken the treaty!" Jacob was right about one thing, we were definitely dangerous, but by the look on Seths face he was incorrect about the treaty, whatever the treaty was.

"But they haven't bitten anyone and I'm pretty sure it doesn't say they can't give shelter to…" Seth paused for a moment, trying to decide what to call us. "bird kids?" Seth was definitely my favorite; he seemed the most neutral in all of this.

"Seth's right Jacob, I am going to call the Cullens and ask to meet." Sam began "You need to go outside and cool off; you're no good if you're going to start a fight." It seemed his word was law so without argument Jacob stomped outside like impudent child. Seth's eyes followed him as he left before snapping back to Sam for directions.

"Don't let them out of your sight while I'm gone." That was all Sam thought was necessary to say before heading into what I knew was the kitchen. I listened closely to the sound of a phone being lifted from its stand and numbers being punched in. After a few rings, straining my ears to hear, I was able to faintly hear Carlisle's voice as he answered. Maybe it was just me but he sounded concerned.

"I believe we have something that belongs to you." Sam said it so nonchalantly he might as well have been telling him he needed to borrow some flour for the cupcakes he was baking. Carlisle's response came back with an anger I didn't know he possessed.

"If you hurt them we will destroy you, to hell with the treaty!" Sam waited as if to give Carlisle time to compose himself. "What do you want?"

"All we want is a meeting. You can meet us at the highest cliff; you know the one, at 7 tonight. You have my permission to step onto our land tonight only, no sooner than 6. You may bring one family member but that is all. You try anything and you won't get your… children back. I believe I've made myself clear so I will see you tonight." Without waiting for a response I heard the quiet beep as Sam hung up.

"I don't know what all the fuss is about." I began, knowing Sam could hear me from in the kitchen. "If you would just let us go we could make it back to the Cullens house no problem. There's no need to make Carlisle travel all the way out here." I hoped I could get him talking and find out some more information.

Sam walked out of the kitchen and left the house without even a glance at us. Apparently he wasn't as chatty as Jacob and Seth. Speaking of Seth…

"So, Seth, why do you guys hate the Cullens so much?" I was counting on him responding well to blunt and to the point. Plus, he looked pretty bored and it didn't seem like it would take too much to get him to talk. It wasn't long before he proved me right.

"Mainly it's just because they're vampires. It's in our nature to despise them. I personally don't mind them. They've helped us out in the past so I'm not really sure why we can't just get along.

"See, this is why I like you." I shot him a grin, liking him more and more every second. I decided to try and push my luck a little. I contorted my face into a painful expression and let out a whimper. Seth responded just as I had expected.

"Are you alright? What hurts?" His concern was evident and I almost felt bad manipulating him. Yes almost, in the end he was just a means to an end.

"It's my wing." I ground out, pouring pain into every syllable. I had been in enough pain throughout my life that I was an expert at faking it. "I think I must have injured it in the fight and with my hands tied and pressing against it I must have irritated the wound." I bit my lip hard and clenched me eyes shut against the invisible pain.

"Oh gosh, what can I do?" By now he had moved from his previous seat and I could feel him crouching in front of where I was sitting. This could not have been going better. I let my eyes drift open and stare into his.

"I need to see how bad the wound is asap. I heal faster than normal so if its broken and I don't set it properly it won't heal right and I'll never be able to fly again." I let a tear escape from the corner of my eye. It wasn't hard to make myself seem frightened; the idea of never being able to fly again did that on its own.

"If I untie your hands you have to promise not to try anything." This is what I had been waiting for, him to make the suggestion of untying me. He looked a little skeptical but more worried than anything.

"I'm not exactly in any position to fight, or escape for that matter. Just please help me, I need to fly again. I won't be able to live without flying." That seemed to be all the convincing he needed as he reached out and helped me to turn around so he could untie me.

When my hands were free I had to resist the urge to make my move. He was way too attentive right now and I knew I wouldn't make it. Instead I allowed my wings to slide out from my shirt, adding winces for emphasis. I pulled me right wing around me and began searching for a wound I knew I wouldn't find.

"Are you finding anything?" Seth asked, still naively concerned about my well being. I let out a small cry as I pretended to find where my wing had been hurt.

"Yeah, and it feels like it's broken. I'm going to need to re-set it. Do you have any kind of morphine or pain pill?" I asked, looking into his eyes again. He seemed deep in thought for a moment before nodding, saying he would be right back, and scurrying into the kitchen.

This was the moment I had been waiting for. I leaned over and quickly untied Fangs hands and feet, silently motioning to him to act like he was still tied. He nodded in understanding and shot me a smirk, his way of giving me praise. I untied the knot around my feet but left the rope wrapped around them so that it appeared as though I was still tied. Now came the hard part.

I let out another fake whimper just as Seth entered the room again with a bottle of a clear liquid and a syringe.

"Here, I found some morphine. Just tell me what you need me to do." He said, crouching down in front of me again. I didn't stop to wonder why they had a whole bottle of morphine in the kitchen, this was my moment.

I carefully took the morphine and syringe from him and filled the syringe. Just as I was about to inject myself, I turned the needle and stabbed in into his shoulder. He let out a yelp of surprise and stumbled backwards.

I jumped up with fang right behind me and tackled Seth. The morphine hadn't knocked him out but he was definitely a lot weaker so it was easy to bind his hands and feet. The look in his eyes told me that he felt utterly betrayed.

"I'm really sorry but we have to do what we have to do to survive. I hope you understand." I turned to Fang and noticed a reflection of the look I was sure to have on my own face. We had never felt so bad about doing this to someone in our lives.

Now wasn't the time to worry about that so we broke our gaze and headed for the door. Everything had gone perfectly so I guess there always has to be an end sometime. We hadn't made it two steps when the door burst open and Sam and Jacob stormed in.

They took one glance at Seth on the ground and us loose and jumped into action. Sam dove straight for Fang leaving Jacob to face me. I could hear as Sam and Fang's bodies collided but I didn't dare look away from the threat facing me.

"If you give up now I'm sure it will save everyone a lot of pain." Jacob stated, giving one attempt at reasoning. Instead of answering I lunged forward and struck out with my leg. He surprised me when he was able to grasp my ankle and twist, causing me to lose balance and slam my shoulder into the ground. With a resounding pop I knew I was losing the fight that had barely begun.

I forced myself to stand, my right arm dangling uselessly by my side. This time Jacob made the first move, taking advantage of my weakness. He swept my legs out from under me and jumped on top of me as I landed. He had my arms pinned instantly and the pain radiating from my shoulder refused to be ignored.

In a last ditch effort I kicked hard, aiming for his crowned jewels. Luckily for him, he managed to shift just enough that my boot landed on his thigh and he barely flinched before pinning my legs as well. Sam, having finished binding Fang, came over to assist in tying me.

He easily brought my ankles together and immobilized them despite my struggles. Fairly fed up with me, he grabbed my right arm roughly, pausing when a small screech escaped my mouth. Jacob quickly explained that I had landed on my shoulder during the fight. Sams' skilled fingers explored the joint as I bit my lip hard.

"It's popped out of place," thanks captain obvious… "You steady her while I pop it back." It irked me more than it should that Sam would talk to Jacob and completely ignore me. I barely had time to process what had been said when Jacobs grip tightened and a pop sounded, followed by intense pain.

"Holy crap! Could you not have at least given me a little warning!" I screamed, more pissed than anything. I noticed that Sam had left the room only when he returned with some sort of bandage and sling.

"Hold still or you'll make it worse." Sam mumbled before grasping my injured arm and expertly wrapping it. He slid the sling into place as he began talking again. "Since your hands can't be tied, I will handcuff you to Jacob until the meeting tonight. Try anything and we will bind your hands which I can't imagine being comfortable." I couldn't argue to the plan, the thought of the right arm being moved made me cringe.

Jacob had climbed off of my and as a sign of my surrender I held out my left wrist to them. Sam accepted it and locked a set of authentic police handcuffs around mine and Jacobs's wrists. He then picked me up and set me on the couch beside Fang who simultaneously looked concerned and pissed. With Jacob sitting on my left, I was happy to have Fang on my right providing silent comfort.

Sam was bent over beside Seth untying him. As they got to their feet, Seth locked eyes with me and I felt my heart melt. I mouthed 'sorry' at him and he grinned, coming over to the couch. I wasn't sure what to expect but I definitely didn't expect what he did.

He said "no hard feelings" as he ruffled my hair. I don't think anyone has ever ruffled my hair and lived, but with his goofy grin I couldn't be mad. After that he went to sit in his chair from earlier and relax, keeping an eye on us as Sam left.

I looked over at the clock on the wall and noticed it was only 3 pm. We still had 4 hours before the meeting. I could feel the utter exhaustion of having no sleep the night before weighing on me. If I was going to sleep I needed to know it would be safe. I looked over and locked eyes with Fang, conveying my need. He nodded, his way of promising to keep watch so I could rest. I mouthed a quick 'thanks' before leaning my head back. I focused on the steady in and out breaths of Fang and I slowly drifted to sleep.
