Author's Note: Hey guys. This is probably the second to the last chapter. I'm going to try to wrap it up in the next one.
Chapter Elven: Preparations and Acceptations
"Will you be my Court Sorcerer?"
"What," Merlin asked.
"Will. You. Be. My. Court. Sorcerer," I asked.
"Oh," Merlin said, baffled. "Of course."
Then he frowned.
"Wait," he asked. "Don't you have to make magic legal for that?"
I smiled.
"Yes," I said simply. "Wouldn't that make your life easier?"
He gave me his widest trademark grin.
"Yes," he said. "I would finally be free!"
"That was what I was going for," Arthur said smirking.
"What are you two talking about over there," Jack asked.
"Legalizing magic," I answered.
"Wait," Claire yelled. "It isn't legal! You made your best friend illegal!"
"Not on purpose," Merlin said. "You see, it all started with his father asking the High Priestess Nimueh to help him have an heir for his wife, Ygraine, was barren. Ygraine died in result of Uther not heading Nimueh's warning about a life for a life to keep the Old Religion balanced. This resulted into the ban on magic. As, Arthur grew up, the Great Purge was being spread across the kingdom, and prejudice spread throughout the five kingdoms. Arthur grew up to hate magic, and I was born to help Arthur realize that not all magic is evil and to help him unite all the lands of Albion. It's actually really complicated."
"I bet," John said rubbing his temples.
"You have to carry that burden every day," Claire asked.
I nodded.
"That's why I'm legalizing magic," Arthur explained. "So he doesn't have to live in fear any longer."
Everyone nodded.
"It's hard to be hunted," Peter said. "I remember when Nathan—my brother—told the government about us with powers. It was a nightmare. We couldn't go anywhere without fear, and could trust no one, but ourselves and each other."
"It's hard," Merlin agreed. "I would wish it upon no one. Not even my greatest enemies."
At this point the TARDIS jerked.
"We're here," the Doctor said, breaking the sullen mood.
"Time to get ready," I agreed.
Merlin nodded and we all walked out into the Court Yard. The Knights had their swords raised and all the citizens' mouths were formed like a fish's.
"Stand down," I ordered. "These people are here to help us defeat Morgana and Morgause once and for all!"
"But, they have magic, Sire," Sir Leon said.
"Some do, yes," I agreed. "However, most of my new compainions do not. We got here through advanced technology created by a race that used to live beyond the stars. Their names were the Timelords, and the Doctor is one of the surviving two."
"From left to right is the Doctor, Castiel—or Cass—, Dean and Sam Winchester, Peter Peterlli, Gabriel—or Sylar—Grey, Aaron—or Hotch—Hotchner, Spencer Reid, Jack Harkness, David Rossy, Claire Bennett, Hiro Nakamura, Ando Masahashi, Emily Prentiss, Jenifer—or JJ—Jareau, Mohinder Suresh, Darek Morgan, and Matt Parkman," Merlin said.
"Thank you, Merlin," I said. "And, before we go into anything else, I am lifting the ban of magic!"
There were gasps of joy and outrage.
"The ban is wrong," I continued. "And, from this day forward, people with magic shall be free! To make sure that everyone is governed fairly, I am appointing a Court Sorcerer. This title shall go to the most loyal man I know … Merlin Emrys."
There was a collected gasp of shock from the crowd. No one could believe that Merlin of all people could be a sorcerer.
"This is a joke, right," Gwen asked.
"No," Merlin said. "It's not. I am Emrys, the most powerful Warlock to ever walk this earth."
"And he will be the most powerful throughout time," Sherlock agreed. "There are legends about him where we come from."
Arthur nodded.
"Why are you doing this," Leon asked. "You must be enchanted!"
"Merlin wouldn't enchant me," I said. "He was born to protect me."
"How do you know," a citizen asked.
"The prophecies," I told them. "But, right now isn't the time for this. Leon, order the outlying villages to the citadel, we're preparing for siege. Citizens of Camelot! The Lady Morgana has sided with the Witch Morgause and they have formed an alliance with enemies from other times! These enemies are Moriarty and the Master—both ruthless and psychopathic geniuses. The battle that will commence will be hard, and everyone that was brought here today has agreed to lend their skills. Treat them kindly."
I motioned my new companions to follow me, not waiting for a reaction.
For three weeks everyone prepared for battle. Merlin trained with Cass, Sam, Peter, Sylar, Mohinder, Matt, Hiro, and Ando. Dean, Morgan, Hotch, and I trained in arms. Claire and Jack discussed strategies on how they can use their ability to not die—along with Sylar when he wasn't with Merlin. Sherlock, Reid, and the Doctor discussed more… intellectual… things. JJ, Emily, and Rossy called Garcia to have her research Moriarty and his possible allies.
The ban on magic was finally abolished. The people are more accepting, now that they've seen Merlin help people with his magic. All in all, it's been a busy three weeks.
"Gwaine," I called. "How are we doing?"
"Great, Princess," he called. "Everything's ready!"
"Arthur," Merlin screamed as he ran towards me.
"What is it," I asked already on edge.
"I sense something."
"Do you know what it is?"
He shook his head.
"But whatever it is," he said, voice weary. "It's not good."
"Is it ever," I sighed.
Merlin gave me a small smile. We both know that it usually wasn't.
"Should we prepare ourselves," I asked.
"Oh course, dear," someone said. "You should always be prepared."
"Who are you," I spat.
"Don't you already know," he asked. "I thought he would tell you."
"Oh, no," Merlin said.
"Oh, yes," the man agreed.
"Sound the alarm," Merlin mouthed to Gwaine.

The Band of Thieves: Thank you. I'm glad you liked it. And, I'm sad to see the story coming to a close also.
