You're in danger.

Her breath hitches and she sits up quickly, ignoring the sensation of her hair sticking up along the back of her skull she looks around the quiet guest room, noting the sunlight streaming through the window.

It's morning…..Brittany glances at the munk sprawled out on the bed beside her, his mouth hangs open as soft snores fill the air, she frowns and looks back to the window.

That voice…slipping the sheets off her legs she steps onto the carpet and crosses the room quietly, barely lifting the curtains she leans forward to peek down into the small backyard below.

Her heartbeat drums loudly in her ears as her eyes is drawn immediately to the man barely visible in the shadows of the tall apartment complex, he's crouching slightly and she would've missed him entirely due to his dark appeal and dark outcropping of hair, he's barely even moving.

Not human.

The voice startles her enough and she flinches as it echoes through her skull, the slight movement causes the man below to move, she looks down quickly and locks eyes with another predator, one with dark hungry red eyes.

Brittany chokes on a scream when a familiar body suddenly presses against her back, "Shit," Alvin is gone as quickly as he appeared, she hears the back door creak as it's left ajar and she manages to catch the man as he turns and vanishes into thin air.

Alvin crosses the yard, his nose to the air she watches as he circles the area, vanishing from view she steps away from the window quickly.

Her heartbeat hasn't slowed and she feels herself shaking slightly, those eyes…a chill races up her spine and the fur along her arms and neck stand on end as she trembles with the chill.

"Hey," Brittany meets his eyes as he steps into the doorway, golden eyes blazing with something she's never seen, something that she sway in that man's eyes.

Bloodlust.

"What was that?"

Alvin glances towards the window behind her, one hand resting on the doorframe he shakes his head, "Just a man,"

"No, he wasn't human Alvin, don't lie," She spits out, feeling that sense of unease again, like she's overstepping a line.

"We're not the only creatures who go bump in the night, he's one of those other things, a vampire," The wood creaks and they both ignore it as the wood splinters beneath Alvin's fingers, his eyes swirl with hatred and she can smell the anger and fear enveloping the room.

Brittany wraps her arms around herself, looking down at the carpet she marvels at how her toes sink into the plush fabric, nearly consumed by the white, "Why was he here?"

"I'm not sure, vampires and werewolves don't exactly see eye to eye and I don't have any contact with any other wolves. Being a lone wolf is a dangerous thing to be, and according to those other creatures out there…..we're both lonely wolves easy to pick off," Alvin's sharp tone makes her skin crawl and she bites her tongue to hold back an equally sharp response.

"But we're together, surely they-"

"No we're not," She risks a glance up and meets his eyes, taking in the swirling currents of golds and browns whirling in his irises, and she feels lost…..

"We're not?"

"…Not technically, our wolves feel the pull but to outsiders we're nothing but love struck teenagers," He flashes a grin, finally releasing his death grip on the doorframe he copies her and crosses his arms, filling up the doorway.

Brittany feels her ears heat up as she tries not to think about why he's implying…."You mean we have to-"

"Eh not entirely, I mean sure I'd like to," He winks making her huff and fight back the heat racing up her neck to pool in her cheeks, "I can Mark you, let other wolves and supernatural beings see that you're taken, that we're not alone,"

Brittany rubs at her temples, "There's so much…so much I don't know about being a werewolf, or a Shapeshifter, I'm lost in this world Alvin, I don't know what to do…." She bites her cheek, startled at her sudden torrent of words.

She hadn't meant to tell him any of that, but something pushed at her brain and she couldn't help it.

"I honestly don't know everything about werewolves either, I don't think anyone here does," Alvin crosses the room to rest a paw on her shoulder, squeezing it softly she feels some of the anxious energy in her stomach settle and she looks to his face again.

"And we'll get through all of this together, you're not alone Britt. Your sisters are here for you, Simon is here…and I'm here," He smiles and leans forward, pressing their foreheads together she tries to ignore the fluttering in her stomach as she nods weakly.

"What happened to my door?!"

Alvin groans and steps away from her, heading off downstairs quickly he yells something at his brother but Brittany is too busy mourning the sense of security and warmth that he brought to actually pay attention to their bickering.

That vampire's eyes flash through her mind again and she hurries downstairs to the warm kitchen and her drowsy sisters, having been woken by Alvin and Simon's yelling.

As Brittany settles in a chair and takes the offered coffee from Jeanette she catches a tidbit of Simon's yelling, "Theodore should've taken you in! He's got a bigger house and he actually has connections!"

"Connections?" The two munks turn to Brittany's curious tone and Simon nods, rubbing at his forehead as Alvin takes the chance to slip away from his brother's temper.

"Yes…Theodore wasn't willing to give up on our father or Alvin after that night…and surprisingly he's very good at researching and hunting people down…Last time I talked to him he was telling me he was going to try and talk to a wolf pack south of the city," Simon spares his older brother a glance as the russet munk hands off a warm cup of coffee.

"A pack? Of werewolves?" Brittany sets her own drink down onto the table, eagerly awaiting for him to continue.

"Yes, but it's pretty dangerous for outsiders to go to their territory….I was a bit concerned when he told me that but he said he knew a wolf from that pack and he'd be safe…..I was planning to travel down there myself but then you all showed up," He smiles, letting her know that he didn't see them as a burden, "I guess we can all go now, it's a lot safer-"

"No it's not," Alvin huffs, rummaging around in the fridge he glances back at them, "Werewolves in a group like that is nothing but trouble,"

"But Alvin-"

"No, I'm not dragging my brother to a place crawling with unstable wolves, and Theodore shouldn't have gone. We're not going," Alvin shoots the last sentence towards Brittany who meets his flaring temper with one of her own.

"Then I'll go alone!" The cup in her hands shatters and she flinches in surprise as the hot coffee sloshes out onto the table and her paws, the sudden increase in her strength stuns the occupants of the kitchen and she takes that silence as her invitation to leave.

Standing up quickly she storms off upstairs, ignoring the following foot steps behind her she walks into the guest room and begins shoving things into the bag her sisters packed for her.

"You're not going,"

"You can't hold me hostage, I'll go and get your brother back and get the answers I need, I won't stay," She shoves a pair of pants into the crammed backpack, annoyed when the zipper doesn't slide cleanly into place.

"Brittany you're not going,"

"You don't own me Alvin!" She stands and whirls around to face him, her anger mixed with annoyance flaring in her azure eyes as they meet his, she meets his blazing eyes with her own fire and they stare at each other for a moment, he doesn't scare her.

"I know, but you'll get yourself killed…packs are just a place brewing with trouble and I don't like the idea of you just walking in there!" His voice is rising and his ears flick backwards, pinned against his head as he tries to change her mind.

"How do you know?! You've never been in a pack!"

"Exactly! I don't know what can happen, what happens there, and I don't want you hurt again! Why can't you just listen to me?!"

"Because I need to know! I need to know that I won't turn into a monster, that I won't hurt someone…..that I have a chance to control this thing before it can become stronger…" She feels her fear swallow up her anger like a whale devouring a minnow, her throat tightens as her words keep spilling out but this time she can't stop them.

"I don't want to kill someone, I-I won't ever be able to forgive myself if that happens," Her voice cracks and she feels the hot prickle of tears at the back of her throat.

Brittany closes her eyes as she feels his arms surround her, holding her firmly as she fights back the looming tears, she slowly raises her arms to return his embrace.

"You're already strong, back at the farm should be proof enough," She opens her eyes as his face presses against the side of her neck, "I don't want to face the risk of losing you," his words are muffled by her hair and she feels her aching heart flutter weakly at his words.

"You can come with me….." She offers weakly, managing a smile when she feels him snort and his hold on her tightens, she hears him whine like a lost puppy.

"Brittany…this is going to be far out of my comfort zone," He mumbles and she suppresses a shiver when his nose brushes across her pulse, her fur prickles slightly as his warm breath fans across the expanse of her neck.

"I know…but we need answers and allies….we're not out of the woods yet," Brittany swallows uneasily when she feels his breathing hitch slightly, she can feel his racing heartbeat beneath her paws which are pressed against his back.

A moment passes and he hasn't responded, she frowns confused, "Al-?" She gasps as four canines suddenly sink into her neck, she grasps his shirt as the familiar trickle of blood makes a line down her neck and slips beneath her shirt. Warmth floods through her and she tries to squash the sensation as fear and lust collide and her vision swims with startled tears.

He bit her.
