Disclaimer: Naruto isn't mine.

Thanks for reviewing.

For all who are wondering, my plot mainly revolves around Obito though he won't be there most chapters. Should I mention Obito's part in the summary? I am not good with summaries…

Alisha, Kakashi never truly hated Hinata, he was frustrated over the situation and was under the assumption that she explicitly accused Obito. That was resolved. As for romance, I have not placed this story under that genre. Yes there will be KakaHina moments and it is a story where they spend a lot of time together but it's not exactly a romance. Kakashi never thought she was weak. He is only confident in his abilities, he is ranked higher than her and is more experienced. He has been in Anbu, Hinata truly doesn't stand a chance against him. Not with only Byakugan training since Kakashi can adapt to any situation and has the sharingan advantage. That doesn't mean she is weak though. Kakashi is in running for Hokage (here) and he was made Hokage in the manga series. He is the strongest ninja in the village so if he can handle someone it doesn't mean they are weak. And Hinata is not in her best state, she can't see and all her training has been eye-centered. She was never trained to fight blindly. I don't think even Naruto would be able to fight like that let alone a Hyuuga.

Last chapter seemed very abrupt I suppose. My reason for writing it the way I did is that Hinata was always reprimanded by her father since she was very young. Hiashi is a very stoic man and wouldn't show emotions but seeing his daughter in a near death situation would definitely worry him. He has already lost his wife and the thought of losing is daughter as well must hurt. Due to this, Hinata finally gets affection from her father. As pleasing her father and becoming strong has been such a big part of Hinata's life than finally being accepted by her father, knowing that even without her eyes he loves her made her very happy. Actually 'happy' is underestimating the intensity of her emotions. She views Kakashi as a comrade and a reasonable, clever man and wouldn't immediately want to hurt him. She would first talk about the reasons behind his actions. Also, Hinata is very gentle and doesn't hold grudges.

Kakashi behaved oddly because he was shocked by the change in her demeanor despite the fact she may be fatally diseased. She hadn't been particularly happy since the wedding fiasco. And he was a jerk to her and I don't think anyone else other than Hinata would have forgiven him that easily. He was only noticing things, not having any sort of feelings about her.

The chapter is short but I updated quick!

Chapter 10

Reconciliations

Hinata didn't really believe he'd be back but he was. It was odd how things had transgressed and even now she could hardly believe it.

She had promised to persuade the Kages as soon as she was able to fend for herself. The court was far away and since her father was the clan heir, he couldn't leave the compound to transfuse chakra. Her father was looking into old scrolls and she had started training again even though it involved only walking around the place. Kakashi had offered his help, actually he had forced it on her even though she declined.

Hinata had to admire his loyalty, the trouble he went through for Obito and Sakura. Only Neji would have gone through such measures for her. She smiled wistfully.

He had taken it upon himself that she heal fast and had taken to living with her –at least during the day. That was very odd and yet impressive that he was able to hide from all Hyuuga eyes. They did all train in the compound. How could they not see Kakashi when he probably was the most wanted right now? She would have to do something about that or tell father about it when all this was over.

He didn't stay in the infirmary though and just where he would disappear for the night he wouldn't say. Was he worried she'll tell on him? Even so, what telling her where he slept going to change? Besides, he was the best shinobi in the village other than the Hokage and possibly Naruto and he was training her. She wouldn't tell on that just to lose it.

"Hinata?" Kakashi whispered. They were doing target practice. Kakashi would make very miniscule sounds and she had to react accordingly. They hadn't moved to hitting silent targets yet. She would have to depend on her sense of smell for that and she was average when it came to smelling things. She didn't yet know what Kakashi smelled like (well, she couldn't really categorize or remember it like Kiba did) and he was with her the whole day except when her father was there and she had to take care of personal matters.

"Hai, Kakashi-san?" She threw a kunai where she heard his voice.

"I copied from your library." His voice was calm and neutral.

What?

She was confounded for a moment and missed the sound of a kunai flashing past her.

"Hinata, pay attention." Kakashi scolded. Hinata wondered if he was testing her or if it was true. She didn't trust him when it came to helping his friends. He'd do anything in his power without boundaries. Maybe that's what made him such a fierce ninja. He took risks that no one in their right mind would, not to mention he was clever enough to survive.

"G-Gomen." she deflected another kunai that wasn't really aimed at her. "What do you mean…?" she got out while she concentrated on the sounds around her. She hoped she didn't kill a few plants or animals. Thankfully they weren't in the herb garden anymore but in the woods that covered the area.

"I needed to know how your chakra works to train you Hinata. Kurenai mentioned that your team mostly trained individually with your clan and got together only for spars, teamwork practice and missions."

Cluck. Shunk.

"H-Hai, we c-couldn't tell each other how our j-jutsu worked." She threw another shuriken. "But t-this doesn't need chakra knowledge" she told him accusingly.

"Do you really think this is all I am going to train you in?"

"Well… I supposed since I am no good-"

"You have missed only one target Hinata. In fact you are doing better than most would."

"Then w-why are we still…?" she frowned.

"So that it becomes second nature to you. You need to be able to concentrate with ease all the time. We'll move to smelling weapon after an hour or two of this." He notified.

"B-But you still can't read those scrolls." Hinata pouted.

"Would it be better if I read them to you?" Kakashi quirked an eyebrow, smiling slightly, even though Hinata couldn't see it.

"You s-still shouldn't." she threw a senbon needle at him. They were harder to deflect and he did say to hit wherever the sound came from. Right now, he was talking.

He chuckled. It was low, deep and so rough it made her blush. She had never paid attention to the intensity of sounds before. Come to think of it, she rather liked Kakashi's voice when he wasn't being overly irritating.

"I know and I wouldn't go for it but Sakura and I need to-" Hinata froze midway and was only able to throw the kunai in hand a mere feet away.

"Sakura?" her voice pitched and her eyebrows rose. She nearly missed the shuriken that whizzed towards her. "You gave them to her?" her voice was cold and it stopped Kakashi for a moment.

"Yes, she is the medical nin and I don't know much about the subject."

"Kakashi even Hokage doesn't know about them! How could you? Father doesn't like Haruno-san much either …" she bit her lip. "You have to get them back from her Kakashi." She told him sternly.

"But…"

"How much has she read?" Hinata asked fiercely, deflecting the weapons he threw back at him. Maybe he meant well but that was going too far. Clan secrets weren't just called so for the sake of fun.

He tried to reason with her, told her it was for her they were reading it. She only scoffed at him.

"I respect you Kakashi but would you please stop trying out? You wouldn't be doing any such thing if I wasn't somehow involved with Obito. Neither you nor Sakura are allowed to read them so please go and bring them back right now!" she was about to throw a kunai at him but he caught her wrist. Had she moved closer to him or had he? She wasn't sure.

"You weren't so angry before I mentioned Sakura." He accused and instantly regretted it when her shoulders slumped. He couldn't take it back now though. Way to go, this will definitely convince her. Why did I have to bring up the scrolls? He reprimanded himself. He didn't feel right taking possession of oldest clan secrets. It wouldn't have mattered to him if Hyuuga weren't in Konoha but since they were, stealing pricked his conscience.

"You are right." Hinata whispered after a moment. "I… I admit I am jealous of her. But Kakashi, I don't act just from jealousy. If it had been anyone else, I still would have been upset. They are clan secrets Kakashi."

"What about me? You weren't this angry." Kakashi pointed out, not to be cruel but out of curiosity.

"Because Obito is a precious person to you, not to Sakura or anyone else. I…I've never before seen you as happy as I have this past year, Kakashi. You aren't as passive as you were. But Kakashi, my clan is looking into it and they'd understand these scrolls better than you would. They have been working with Byakugan all their life. Also, father and elders wouldn't hide something important."

Kakashi once again couldn't help but feel uncomfortable. They had never spent much time together or even talked so much before the Obito incidence, how could she know how his behavior? He made sure no one could read him.

"I'm not so sure about that Hinata. Everyone wants Obito to die." Kakashi said bitterly.

"But they don't want me to die." She smiled sadly at him.

Kakashi frowned and placed a hand on her head.

"I know but there's no guarantee they won't lie to you. Hinata, believe it or not, I am doing it as much for you as I am for Obito. I know we started at wrong footing but even if it wasn't Obito I still would have done this for you, maybe I wouldn't have dug the way here but I would have still helped. I am sorry about what happened at the wedding but I wouldn't have called you on stage if it was going to be detrimental for you."

"You told me not to thank you." She said as calmly as she could manage. It still hurt to think back to that night.

"Because you didn't need to. I wouldn't have done anything if Sakura hadn't mentioned it. I didn't know before that." His hand was on the side of her face now.

"T-The whole village knew!" Why was he lying? She wasn't going to hold it against him and even if she did, she already promised to help Obito.

"Probably because you jumped in front of Naruto. I wouldn't have known about it if Sakura hadn't said anything."

"But how can you not have…"

"I was dead at the time Hinata. I know I hurt you, I could tell, and I am sorry. I should have talked to you about it instead of acting on it. In my defense, Sakura hadn't given me much time. It was only when you arrived at the wedding looking so down that she grew worried. You were never around since they started going out." That shut her up and instead of saying anything she bit her lip. Kakashi took a deep breath. "I'm sorry, Hinata. If it makes you feel better I'll bring back the scrolls but I won't promise that I won't read them. I will tell you everything I read and after this whole thing is over, it's up to you if you wish to erase my memories."

Hinata seemed to be contemplating it so Kakashi waited patiently and sensing the change in atmosphere retracted his hand to his side.

"A-about that… t-there is a p-problem." Hinata blushed.

"And that is…?" he trailed off.

"I d-don't k-know how to e-erase them." She poked her fingers together and bent her head down to hide her face. Kakashi looked at her incredulously and then suddenly laughed making Hinata flush to the tip of her ears. His laugh was deeper than but not as rough as his chuckle. She lowered her head.

"That's alright, I can teach you." When she didn't look up he pulled her face up with the heel of his hand resting on her forehead. "It isn't taught unless one works in infiltration or interrogation sometimes. And infiltration mission are reserved only for Anbu or the best jounin. It's not a big deal if you didn't know." He ruffled her hair for good measure.

"H-Hai" she was still blushing and he wondered how long it took for the coloring to go back to normal.
