REALLY short had it had to be in order to get this in by midnight.
Chapter 11
Back Through the Little Door
There was a strange fluttering in Querl's stomach that kept him from eating much at dinner. That and even with the newly repaired item none of them were adapt cooks yet. So when Querl returned to his room for the night he brought up a small plate of cheese and crackers to nibble on as he read and completed his homework with ease.
After the homework was stored in his backpack for the morning Querl went to bed. His head had barely touched the pillow when he heard a distance squeak.
Sitting up, Querl spotted three orange kangaroo mice with green button eyes, gathering up the cheese he had forgotten about on his bedside table. Before Querl could say anything, or think of anything that would be logical to say to mice, the mice jumped down and darted out the door.
There should have been some hesitation in following the mice again. Querl didn't dream very often and he doubted he would basically dream the same thing two nights in a row but despite himself he was already swinging his legs over the side of the bed, actually chasing the mice down the stairs. Part of him realized he was probably being very noisy and could wake the others up but he couldn't lose sight of the mice even though he knew exactly where they were leading him.
As he predicted, Querl followed the mice to the living room where they squeezed into the creaked opening of the little door. Right behind them, Querl slid to his knees and threw opening the door, the tunnel expanding before him and hurrying the mice over to the other side.
Despite himself, Querl smiled and crawled into the tunnel.
