Gail and Joe were on their way back to New York. Both were quiet from the start of the car ride home.

Joe glanced over at Gail and noticed she was smiling. He couldn't help but smile himself.

Even with wrinkled, stained clothes and messy hair, she still looks beautiful. Last night was amazing.

Gail rain her fingers through her hair. She took a compact out of her purse and begin looking in the mirror.

"Put that away. You look fine," Joe said.

Gail giggled, "No I don't. You're being nice. I look a complete mess."

"But a beautiful mess."

Gail was speechless. She looked out to the window as she put the compact back inside her purse.

"Aren't you quite the charmer?"

"I try my best," Joe teased.

"Well you are doing a good job. Flattery will get you everywhere."

"Even inside your heart?" Joe asked.

"Wow," Gail was caught off guard. "That was a good one. A little cheesy but good, I will give you that," Gail laughed.

"I've never been good with this flirting stuff. I will stop if you want me too." Joe admitted to Gail.

Gail reaches over to careers the back of Joe's head. "Don't. you're doing fine," Gail lowered her voice.

Joe smiled, "I meant what I said Gail. I haven't had this kind of feeling since . . . Well you already know. I hope I'm not being too forward."

"Not at all. I trust you."

Gail sat back in her seat. She reached for Joe's hand and placed it in hers. They held hands for the rest of the ride.

-Last Night in New Jersey-

"Can you believe this house? Isn't it beautiful?", Gail asked. She held out her arms and started to spin around in the empty space. A reluctant Joe hesitated to answer.

"Yeah, very."

"The pictures didn't do it any justice!" Gail squealed.

Joe looked around the empty house. Memories of began to flood his mind. He began to remember everything about his former fiancée Velvet. From the time they first moved into to when she moved out. Joe was feeling dizzy. He leaned against the wall for support.

When Gail stopped spinning, she noticed something was wrong with Joe.

"Joe? Joe? Are you ok?" she walked over to him. She feels his face to see if he is warm and that he is.

"I'm fine just a bit tired that's all," Joe lied.

"Well you feel a bit warm. I have a scarf in my purse. I'm going to go wet it. I just need to find the kitchen." Gail began searching for her purse.

"It's straight ahead to your right." Joe told her.

"Thanks," Gail stops in her tracks.

"Wait. How did you know that?" she was wondered.

"This was the house I use to share with my ex." he informed her.

"What? Seriously?"

"Yes. The house was in her name. Jamie Szantyr. "

"Jamie Szantyr? I thought your ex's name was Velvet.

"Velvet was her stage name. She was a stripper when we met."

"That explains everything."

Joe laughed, "Yeah not the best place to meet someone."

"Obviously. So are you ready to eat?"

"Yeah, I am."

Joe and Gail arrived at her apartment.

"We're here," Joe said as he put the car in park and turned off the engine.

Gail sighed while looking at the apartment building. "I really don't want to go in there. I already know what's waiting for me. I just can't deal with it."

"It's fine Gail. Everything will be fine. Now go inside and get some rest. I will call you later," Joe touched her hand.

"Ok. I had a great time with you last night. Thank you for coming with me."

"No problem," Joe smiled.

Gail leans over to kiss Joe on the cheek. The kiss on the cheek soon turned into a long and gentle peck on the lips.

"I'll see you later Joe?" Gail whispered.

"Definitely." They kissed once more.

Gail exited the car, waving to Joe while he watched her go inside. Once she was inside, Gail checked her mail and then her phone. She seen she had a few missed calls and text messages.

"I will deal with this later," she said to herself. She stepped into the elevator to go to her apartment. Gail began to think about last night and the kiss she recently shared with Joe. She tried to suppress her smile but couldn't. It was the only way she could keep her mind off her father.

Once inside Gail noticed her answer machine was full also. Instead of listening to the messages, she went straight to the bathroom to take a shower.

Before she could take off her clothes to get in, Gail hears a knock at the door.

I wonder who that could be?

Gail does not bother to look through the peephole and opens the door instead. It was Joe.

"Joe? What are you doing here?" she asked.

Joe did not answer. He could only stare at Gail. She could see that he was breathing heavily.

Gail then takes Joe's arm, pulling him into a kiss then dragging him inside and closing the door.
