Chapter 11: Memories and Brainwashing
Later that evening, Rebecca had a question for Luna.
"What was that thing that Sailor Mars tried to stick on my head during the battle earlier? From what she said, it sounded like something she was using to try to heal me of demonic possession," Rebecca said.
"That was an ofuda, and yes, that is exactly what she was trying to do with it. It's something she would have used as a Shinto priestess as a protection against evil, and it's a power she had before she became Sailor Mars. Of course, because you are NOT a victim of demonic possession, nor are you evil, it would not have done anything to you," Luna explained.
"Maybe that will help her stop attacking us, now that she knows you don't have any evil energy inside of you," Annabelle suggested.
"That might happen, or Princess Twinkle might tell Sailor Mars some other lie to prevent her from questioning why her ofuda didn't work like she wanted it to," Luna said.
"I think it would be boring if they just stopped fighting us like that. What's the point of being a superhero if I can't have a big epic showdown with the bad guys?!" Mary complained.
"But the Sailor Senshi shouldn't BE the bad guys in the first place! They were probably just tricked by that Princess Twinkle person, and once they realize that, I'm sure they will go back to being good girls like they originally were, and then maybe we could be friends with them because we're Sailor Senshi too!" Annabelle declared optimistically.
"Fine, then what about Princess Twinkle? Can I at least fight her?" Mary whined.
"We don't know where her home base is. We would have to find it first, unless she comes to engage you in a fight herself. And unfortunately, I'm not sure how to find it without the use of Sailor Mercury's computer," Luna said with a sigh.
"What would happen if Sailor Mars used that ofuda on herself, or if one of us took one from her and stuck it on her head?" Rebecca asked.
"I don't know. If Princess Twinkle did brainwash them, it could be a way to undo it and restore them to normal," Luna guessed, "I don't really know that much about what happened to them myself, other than what all of you were told at the clubhouse meeting the other day. I think for now, maybe all of you should get ready for bed so that you are well-rested in case Sailor Mars comes back tomorrow."
Later that night, Sailor Jupiter prepared to go on the attack. Princess Twinkle had suggested trying to attack the Senshi during the night, and she had agreed that would be a good plan, since it would catch them off-guard. Since she remembered Luna being somewhat of the leader of the cats, she decided to try to kill her first. Sailor Jupiter teleported to the Baker household, appearing on their front lawn.
"Sparkling Wide Pressure!" she yelled, throwing a crackling ball of electricity at the front door. This not only succeeded in smashing the door open, but it also woke up all three girls and their parents, as well as Luna. At first, Annabelle thought that it might be someone shooting off fireworks nearby, but she realized that it would be an odd time of year for fireworks. Any thoughts of early New Year's fireworks were quickly wiped out as she heard what sounded like someone stomping around downstairs in the house. She screamed in fear and huddled under her covers, wanting to hide from whoever was breaking into their house in the night. She then heard Mary yelling, and realized what was really happening.
"Sailor Jupiter?! What the **** are you doing in our house at this hour?!" she heard Mary yell from downstairs. Sailor Jupiter was invading their house? Annabelle wasn't sure what to do. She didn't want to have to fight another one of the Sailor Senshi she had admired, but she also didn't want her house and family to be hurt. But what if she could convince Sailor Jupiter that she and the other Japanese Sailor Senshi were probably being brainwashed by that Princess Twinkle person, and remind her of the good heroine she used to be? She grabbed her ruby pendant, put it on over her nightgown, and transformed.
"Ruby Prism Power, Make Up!" she called, and then she ran downstairs, searching for her family and the intruding Sailor Senshi. She found them in the living room, which was surprisingly unharmed aside from the door, which had been blown to pieces by Sailor Jupiter's "Sparkling Wide Pressure" attack. Sailor Jupiter herself was backed into a corner, looking very frightened and talking to herself.
"Please don't kill him! Even if he rejected me for being too tall, that doesn't mean he deserves to die!" she was wailing. Sailor Ruby realized that Jupiter must have been stricken by her sister's nightmare powers, given that Sailor Mars had acted the same way when under the spell of "Amethyst Terrifying Nightmare." Sailor Amethyst and Sailor Peridot were also transformed, and they were discussing what to do with Sailor Jupiter.
"Yeah, you can tie her up, but what do we do with her after that? I think I should get to make her talk," Sailor Amethyst said with a malicious smirk.
"Please don't torture her, and don't tie her up either! We should try to remind her of her good side, the way she was before she joined Princess Twinkle!" Sailor Ruby pleaded, getting her older sisters' attention.
"She's right. There has to be some way to remind her of…" Luna stopped speaking, and her red eyes widened with realization. "I did that once before. After the battle against the Dark Kingdom, Usagi and her friends lost their memories of being Sailor Senshi, but I was able to use a spell to help them remember everything again. I'm just not sure if that will work if she's unwilling to cooperate."
"I won't let you kill him, Galaxia! Sparkling Wide Pressure!" Sailor Jupiter screamed, flinging her electric ball attack across the room. It hit Sailor Amethyst, who had been distracted by listening to Luna, and she cried out in pain as she was thrown backwards, crashing into the couch and nearly toppling it over.
"She's not going to listen right now, Luna," Sailor Peridot said with a regretful sigh, and then she turned to face Sailor Jupiter, who was beginning to charge up the lightning rod that was sticking out of the jewel on her tiara.
"Peridot Slimy Adhesion!" she called, flinging a blob of green slime at Sailor Jupiter, which caused Sailor Jupiter's arms to get stuck to her chest. Sailor Jupiter also seemed to come to her senses, as she suddenly calmed down.
"Where's Galaxia? I was…Luna! My mission is to bring you back to Sailor Moon! She needs you!" Sailor Jupiter exclaimed, remembering what she had come for.
"Yes, she does. She needs me to help her break out of being brainwashed by Princess Twinkle, and so do you," Luna said.
"No I don't! Why are you so opposed to Usagi becoming the ruler of the world? I thought that's what we learned her destiny is when we visited the future Crystal Tokyo," Sailor Jupiter argued.
"Because since when does Usagi want to take over America or any other country?! She's obviously not acting like herself, and she's joined some person I've never heard of! She doesn't need Princess Twinkle's help to become Neo-Queen Serenity, it's her destiny!" Luna reminded her.
"How do you know? What if Princess Twinkle is the one who gives her the power to ascend to the throne?" Sailor Jupiter continued to argue.
"Because she had an evil aura when I saw her lure Usagi away!" Luna snapped, and then she turned to Sailor Peridot. "Use your attack again and cover her with slime so…OW!" Luna yowled as Sailor Jupiter, though she couldn't move her arms, ran up and kicked her across the room. Sailor Peridot got the hint anyway, and used her "Peridot Slimy Adhesion" attack to throw even more sticky slime on Sailor Jupiter, who toppled over, her balance thrown off by her legs becoming stuck together.
"All right! Now you can use that mind melting power you have, Luna!" Sailor Amethyst cheered.
"Please don't melt her brain, Luna!" Sailor Ruby pleaded.
"I said Mind MELD, not Melt! Like I said, it's a spell to bring her memories back if they've been lost or changed. If Princess Twinkle's brainwashing has altered any of her memories, it could help bring them back so that she remembers what her real mission was," Luna corrected the two girls.
"My memories are just fine! My mission is to bring you back with me, Luna, and I'm going to fulfill it! SUPREME THUNDER!" Sailor Jupiter screamed, and electricity surged all over her body, shocking her but also blasting the slime off.
"Then I'll protect her! Amethyst Terrifying…AAGGH!" Sailor Amethyst yelled as Sailor Jupiter tackled her, interrupting her before she could complete her nightmare spell. She kicked outward, sending Sailor Jupiter tumbling backwards. Sailor Jupiter jumped back up and began to charge electricity in her hands.
"Sparkling Wide Pressure!"
"Peridot Slimy Adhesion!" Both Sailor Jupiter and Sailor Peridot attacked at the same time, and the two attacks met in mid-air, creating an explosion of sparks and slime. Both of them were knocked back, and they were both covered in bits of green slime, along with the other two Senshi and the rest of the room. Sailor Jupiter sat up, glared at Luna and the three Gemstone Senshi, and then disappeared in a flash of green light.
"Come back here and help us clean up the mess you made!" Sailor Amethyst shot back, even though it was unlikely Sailor Jupiter could hear her anymore. She and her sisters sighed as they realized that the slime could take quite awhile to clean up, although at least it wouldn't hurt them as long as they were in their Sailor Senshi forms.
