Chapter 11
someone pov
Sitting here in this room was about as boring as watching the 'Head' of the village do his paperworkin his office...in complete and utter silence. Daichi could at least try and be a husband, but it seems his 'love' for me isn't as strong as his love for power. He made the whole village think he was undoubtibly in love with me, he even managed to convince my parents. I would be lying if I said I loved him. I don't, in fact I despise him. He is such a narcissistic asshole. I would catch him adoring himself so much, it was almost as digracful as it was disgusting. Although I would also be lying if I said I had never loved before. I had loved him. no, not him as in my current husband, him, my only love. Yes I was...still am in love with him. Akasuna no Sasori. I miss that redhead. I had heard that some time ago he had left his village, betrayed them. For some reason, I couldn't help but remember what we had, and what we could have had. The day he left, I was left feeling sad, and a few days later,I felt really sick. I decided to see a doctor, and was shocked by their discovery. I was pregnant, and I already knew who the father was, but I was not going to tell anyone. I remember the first 8 months, and having grown quite large, I knew the baby was due. I had been trying to figure out a name for the baby, it was going to be a girl, and I couldn't have been happier.
I looked outside the window and saw a little boy walking with his mother in the street. A sharp pain rose in my heart and I knew why. It was like a piece of me was missing, it was different from Sasori, yet the same. This was going to plague my thoughts and keep me from sleeping for a few nights. Moving from the windowsill, I decided to take a small walk around the village. Just to get some fresh air, and to try and relieve my mind of these thoughts, knowing that it probably won't work. There was still that slight chance though. My mind had been worried about the village and its' people. Recently, there has been incidents going about the village, and my lovely 'husband' won't tell me what it is, even though in truth, I am the actual head of this village, but since I am a female, it automatically went to whoever I had married. I opened the door and started walking down the halls, when my 'husband' just happened to pass by in his formal robes. Do we have guests? "Put on your formal greeting attire Yumi,we have special guests arriving from Konoha." His voice was strained,as if trying to hide something, but it still held that demanding tone he always uses on me as if I were his slave. Konoha? why in the name of Kami do we have shinobi from Konoha coming here? Damn you and your secrets Daichi!
I did as he said and put on my formal attire, which consisted of a green kimono with leaves along the hems of the sleeves and the lining. My hair was pulled up into a high ponytail with a hair ornament. I added one small addition, a cloak. I was very hopeful he wouldn't introduce me as his 'beloved' wife to the strangers, very hopeful. Slipping the hood over my head, I made my way to the gate, shadowing Daichi the whole way. We stood for 15 minutes before we got word of the shinobi growing closer to the gate. They had mentioned a group lead by a masked female, followed by 3 of our very own. They described the shinobi one by one to us. One, probably being the jounin, wore a green jumpsuit, orange leg warmers and a green vest. He also seemed to have a very interesting bowl cut with very hairy eyebrows. They had arrived before we could hear the rest of the description. Here, standing in front of us, stood the Shinobi and Kunoichi of Konoha. I had assumed that, out of the group, the tall one in the green jumpsuit was their jounin. After scanning over the rest, I had come to realize that there was a boy who was basically a miniature version of the jounin. As I continued to scan the rest of the group, my eyes landed on a strangely feminine boy who looked blind but since he was looking around, I concluded that he was not, and the two girls next to him seemed interesting. One had dark brown hair pulled into two buns. She kind of reminded me of a panda, all cute and cuddly, then I noticed the giant scroll on her back and knew from then that she was anything but. The last girl had caught my attention, she had long green hair that was pulled into a high ponytail, like mine. She also wore a mask, and from the description our ninja had given us, she was the one leading. Though, what really caught my attention was her eyes, those eyes that shone a haunting golden color. I had almost burst into giggles when I saw that she was glaring holes into Daichi's robes.
Sonya Pov:
After all this time, all these years, that son of a bitch is still alive!? To top the cake, he is the Head of the village? Oh for Kamis sake! "Welcome to the Village hidden in the Rice Fields, my name is Fuma Daichi, but please call me Daichi, as you are friends of this village. I am the head of this village. Come, we have much to discuss." My eyes bore into his back as I glared. You could swear that I was burning holes into his fancy robe, though...that isn't a bad idea. Reika and Hiro split and headed in opposite directions, I'm guessing since the mission was over, they were done. The poison I smelled earlier, was everywhere, and it seems that they had made no attempt to remove it. What was stopping them, I mean, its quite simple...then again, I was trained by Sasori when it came to the art of poisons. I had even created my own, like the one I had used on that worthless Stone shinobi. My eyes landed on a cloaked figure that was behind Daichi, and for some reason, they felt familiar. I may have to visit them later on tonight.
(Some hours later)
That dinner dragged on longer than I had wanted it to. Daichi was trying to woo Gai and the others into thinking he was a good man and that they were being targeted by a group called 'the scorpions'.
This smelled fishy and I know Kisame isn't here. This group had claimed to be under the command of Akasuna no Sasori, and is poisoning the village to gain money for a cure. "This village has no more money to give, other than rice we harvest and sell, and the money we are giving you for your mission, we have nothing." The cloaked one snorted and Daichi gave them a glare. I saw him whisper something to the figure and then turn and smile back at us. I kept looking at the figure and them to me, freaky.
Later on that night, I couldn't sleep due to the many things wandering and plaguing my mind. Like the cloaked figure, Daichi, and my secret mission. I sat up from my bed, looked around, and sighed. The moon was still up high in the sky and lets just say we were very acquainted with each other. So, to try and ease my troubled thoughts, I got out of bed, put my mask on, and went to the roof. Since it was still spring, the weather at night was perfect. As I laid on the roof, I felt another presence beside me. I turned to see who could have possibly snuck up on me and saw one I was not expecting to see here with me, Daichi. "So, I see you couldn't sleep either?" I shook my head in response, I did not feel like ripping him a new one so late at night. "Everyone introduced themselves except you child. Would you mind giving your name at least?" he asked a little curious. I thought about it for a moment before answering. "You already know me. I didn't think I needed to introduce myself to you once more"
He stared wide eyed before thinking, and giving me a once over. "You...you're alive?" I looked over at him and giggled a bit. "yeah, and kicking 5 times as hard now then I did back then. Oh and Daichi?" I tried sounding as sweet as I could, tiliting my head to look at him. "Don't you say a word. I would kinda like to surprise everyone into heart attacks when they find out that I'm actually not dead" I jumped off the roof and started to walk around, hoping I would find the cloaked figure.
I found the figure sitting my a fountain playing with the water. Every one of my steps were cautious ones. I couldn't tell who this person was or their abilities. I decided a normal approach would seem less threatening. "Hello." I waved a very Kakashi like wave and grin. The figure only nodded in acknowledgment, but before I could strike up a conversation, the figure disappeared on me. "well damn" was all I said before yawning and heading back to bed.
The next morning, Gai put us on patrol, and I was very thankful that we were able to patrol alone. After about 2 hours I heard a very disturbing scream. Following it I came to a halt when I found a 'rogue' shinobi, Shiro on the side-lines and an unconscious Mai on the ground. Needless to say I was beyond pissed when I saw Mai. Before anyone could say anything or wrap their heads around the situation, the Rogue decided it was a bright idea to grab Mai and use her as a hostage. The next thing they knew was Mai on the ground and me behind the shinobi with my wire around his neck.
"let her go or you will be the first headless shinobi in this village" venom dripped from my words as I held my wire tighter around his neck. He neither moved nor spoke, so with my patience running rather thin, I gripped my wire tighter, wanting a response, not caring about if im making a scene. This fucker needed to be taught not the mess with the wrong people. I stared down at my victim, and then to the unconscious Mai to at my right. I was very glad that she wasn't in critical condition. I heaved a sigh of relief , then let the bastard go. "Warning for the future...touch her or any of my comrades and I come back for your head" more venom spilled as I walked towards Mai. I picked her up bridal style and walked off towards the forest surrounding the area to where my 'death' happened. "STOP, many dangerous creatures lurk in that forest Sonya...do you really think the both of you will be safe?!" I had stopped in my tracks and turned towards Shiro, who had just spoken. "Well, I would assume it is a much safer place than here, where Mai was almost killed...now if you will excuse me, I have to tend to her wounds, and feed her. Lets see that asshole face her on a full stomach, he woun't live very long. I assure you, not that it would have mattered. If her instincts had kicked in...there would be nothing left of him" I continued walking towards the forest I had gotten to know so well over the years.
Walking down a forest path, I glared at the member who was chosen to train me for this week. Kisame had thought it funny to wake me up his way. by pouring ice cold water on me while I was still sleeping. After many failed attempts to burn holes into his back, I had given up and started to look around me at my surroundings. The scenery was beautiful, and the air so crisp,and...salty? I looked back at Kisame and noticed he stopped a few yards away. I slowly went beside him and nearly crawled under a rock. Water, and alot of it. sure it was a breath-taking sight, but there was one tinsy problem...I feared it. I didn't have too many good memories involving the substance. I looked up at Kisame and a shiver shot its way up my spine, he was grinning that mischeivious grin of his. At that moment I knew what he had planned, and it involved this water.
(4 hours later)
I was lying sprawled on my back on the shore. Kisame was towering over me with that same sadistic grin plastered on his face. His stupid fishy face. This whole training session consisted of Kisames' shark jutsu, and me running away in fear for my life.
And to think, that after a week of training with Kisame, I finally got over that dumb fear. heh, I guess I need to thak the Shark-man. As I walked deeper into the forest, I began to recognize the area more. I finally stopped in an open field and the memories flooded back to me. This was the old training grounds for the organization. Must mean the old hideout is near by too. I started to head further down the specially marked path. The marks were very well hidden, but some were exposed, and read 'heaven' and others read 'earth'. Heaven meant death, as earth lead to another dead-end. Only with really sharp talent would you ever stumble upon our hideout, and some did, which probably lead to us hauling some major ass out of there. After walking a few miles, I lost my ever so graceful footing, and tripped over a rock. A ROCK! how lame was that?! I dropped Mai and nearly had a heart attack when she almost hit her head on a sharp looking rock. "damn it Mai." I picked her up yet again, and resumed walking. Shiro was over-reacting about the dangers of this forest, we had basically killed all the more dangerous creatures when I was being trained. It was Hidans' idea to have me train in the darkest part of the forest.
Yet another horrendous week with a member who was clearly not all there. He killed for a god whom I have never heard of. I was again, walking down a beaten path of the forest, although, this one seemed to tread along a darker side of the forest. I was getting a little more scared each time I heard a crow caw. I jumped when I heard the bushes rustle and there was no wind, and there was a time when I would scream when a hand was placed on my shoulder, and I was looking into the eyes of the devil himself, Hidan. "heh, did the fucking baby wet herself?" he was clearly mocking me. I didn't care if he was an immortal or not...I was going to get him back. "what are we doing out here?" asking Hidan as if he was going to answer back without a smart remark. "What the fuck else kid?! you're going to learn how to fucking defend yourself against fucking everything." I rose a brow but quickly learned that it was a waste of muscle movement. Hidan had already pulled out his scythe and was ready to plung an attack. Quickly getting into a fighting stance, not even 2 seconds after, I was then pinned to the ground, with Hidan ontop of me. "Pretty fucking sad kid." he smiled and got up. This training went on for about 10 hours give or take a few minutes. By the end of the day, I was covered in my own blood but, my awareness grew sharply, and I was on edge for the rest of the night. I couldn't sleep at all because of it. Hidan had kept it up like that all week until I could defend myself better.
I had found the old hideout, a cave similar to the other one, but instead of the boulder sitting at the entrance, it was now laying lopsided next to the entrance. I entered the cave, Mai in tow, and sat her down gently to go look for any of Kakuzus' medicines, or even Sasoris', if there was any left. Kakuzu's room was first on my list since he was kind of the doctor of the organization.
*sometime later*
I had rummaged through both rooms and only found a few small rolls of gauze, peroxide, needles, and a few bandaids. Looking at my inventory, I took the peroxide, and the gauze. I heard noise and saw that Mai was waking up. "where is that sonofabitch? I wanna rip his head off, but not before I slowly torture the cunt of a man." She grinned and I knew she was hanging around Hidan way too much. That mouth was proof enough, no one else talked as foul as the stupid Jashinist. Walking up to her I slowly sat down and tried to calm her."now, now. I don't believe that he deserves such an honor. Although, before we can discuss his demise, how about a hunt for dinner? I know your hungry, otherwise that idiot could have never taken you down" I started tending to the more severe wounds. All she did was nod and look at the ground, and the only reason she did that was because she was thinking over the situation. I had heard a small noise and my head snapped up to see what it was. My eyes widened at the sight before me, here standing at the entrance, was the cloaked was the first to speak. "Who the hell are you?" she didn't hide the fact that she didn't trust the figure either. I liked that about Mai, she was just so blunt and to the point. I was not expecting the figure to respond to her question. "I mean no harm, I did not know there were others who knew of this place." The voice was gentle, kind, feminine. She removed her hood and revealed herself to us. It didn't take me long to figure out who she was. "Pardon my manners children, my name is Yumi Fuma, the actual heir to the Fuma clan. who are you" I stood there in momentary shock. Here, intront of me was my mother, the figure I was missing in my life, right here.
