Almost Killed Your Light.

The heat burned my back as I hurried down the street towards the apartment building. I was ready to fall over and sleep, maybe drink some cold water before doing so. Before I left the motel, Mukuro said he wants to hang out tomorrow and this time at the apartment. I wanted to say no since Bel might be there, but like a good friend and pupil, I accepted.

The thought of telling Bel-Senpai the news made me sweat from anticipation. He would be undoubtedly angry, but I could suggest he go to HQ for a few hours until they leave. He might start whining about how they should just go back to Japan. I clenched my teeth and heaved myself through the front doors to the building and up the exhausting staircase until I reached the third floor. The hallway was hot and stuffy. I pushed the door open and walked in, the air conditioning was turned on and I almost fell to my knees to thank god.

I sighed with relief as I slipped my shoes off and strolled over to the couch where I laid down on, relaxing for several minutes until I realized the strange silence in the apartment. Usually Bel-Senpai would enter and start complaining about something, but he hasn't yet. Curiosity sparked inside my head as I jumped up and headed off to his bedroom. I placed my ear against the hardwood door and listened, but there was no sound. I gripped the knob and turned it slowly, to my surprise, Bel was lying on his bed and beside him was a pretty naked girl, her body covered by the blankets.

I was only gone for an hour and twenty minutes. A slight pain twisted inside my chest as I closed the door and stood in front of his bedroom for a few seconds, once I was over my state of shock, I headed back into the living room where I sat down and stared at the blank TV.

Bel always brings girls over, it's his usual thing, the routine. Sometimes he doesn't bring them back here, he takes them to a hotel and afterwards dumps her off somewhere. Ever since we began living together, he constantly introduces strangers I'll never see again. There was one girl by the name of Lily, she had long silky black hair with amber eyes, I liked her for her eccentric personality, even though I wished Bel would date her just so I could see her again. When I told Bel this, the idiot prince laughed at me for being sentimental to a one-night stand. I asked if he ever paid them, he said no. When Lily was about to leave one day, I gave her fifty bucks, she smiled and said thanks, I never saw her again after that.

The other girls are usually alcoholics and addicts. They usually get high in the kitchen, Bel never did drugs, he only drinks. At times I went out drinking with him, the entire time he'd be dancing with girls and when he got too excited, we'd have to run because he would end up stabbing someone with one of his silver knives.

"Hey." I looked to see a blond girl standing in the entrance to the hallway. She wore a shimmering white tank-top, a leather jacket and dark jeans, she held an unlit cigarette in her fingertips. "Can I smoke in here?"

I nodded, sliding over to the window and lifting it up and placing the CD's to hold it in place. She sat down on the opposite side of the couch from me. We stayed quiet for a minute or two while she smoked her cigarette.

"Is your friend Bi or something?"

Bi? Does she mean bisexual? Where did she get that assumption from. I shook my head, "He's straight as a ruler."

She gave a slow nod. "I'm Julie."

"Fran."

"Too bad he's straight. You're pretty for a boy."

I was a little taken back by her compliment and she seemed to see this as she chuckled. "I'm not interested in guys," I told her, but she shrugged her shoulders.

"You two could fuck for fun."

"I'm a virgin." I didn't understand how stating that fact could change the conversation, but she laughed and slid over to me. I watched as she flicked her smoke out the window and when I thought she was going to back away. She leaned forward, her lips still turned up in a smile, unlike Bel's who's cunning, her's seemed friendly and inviting. Her breath touched my lips and I was sure we were going to kiss any second now, but then she was roughly pulled back.

Bel stood behind her, wearing a pair of tight black jeans, he dragged her from the apartment as she gave me a wave before the door slammed shut. Bel locked it and turned back to me with a frown. "Now you're stealing my one-night stands?"

"I wasn't doing anything, Bel-Senpai." Although my heart could beg to differ, it wouldn't slow down from Julie's close proximity, the anticipation of kissing her was still there, fresh on my mind and tingling along my skin.

Bel scoffed. "She was about to kiss you."

"But she didn't," I retorted.

He rolled his eyes as if he couldn't believe the conversation we were having. He looked at the door forlornly as if he missed her, my eyes settled on his naked chest and arms, a sudden desire to reach over and pull him down, just to touch him. The thoughts were strange and I wanted to wipe them from my mind, but I couldn't push them away.

Bel looked back and my eyes shifted out the window, a warm flush tingled my face. "And you were going to let her?"

I shrugged, Julie popped back into my mind, dispersing whatever images I had of Bel. "I'm a guy, Bel-Senpai. I have wants and needs too." Although I couldn't see myself ever doing anything with Julie, it was a bit troublesome when I wouldn't mind with Bel.

"Screw that." I looked up at Bel who was scowling as if I were a child. "Like you said, you're a virgin." He stomped into the kitchen.

"One day I won't be," I called, but heard nothing in response, that's when I remembered Mukuro.

"Oh Bel. Mukuro is coming over, along with Ken, Chikusa and Chrome." The sound of the fridge door slamming shut and Bel walking back into the living room with a glare on his face.

"Who the fuck said you could have friends over?" He asked.

I sat back against the couch, "This is my apartment too. I'm allowed friends over if I want too."

Bel shook his head, "Fine. I'll be at the Varia for the day." He went back into the kitchen while I danced inside my head.
