Chapter 11! Hereeeeeeeee weeeee go!
Okay, shit went down in my life. Drama here, there and everywhere. It wasn't fun and I'm on the verge of a breakdown.
Important: My exams are coming up, so I wrote this extra long chapter for you guys since I probably won't be updating til, June 14th ish. I have 5 GCSE Exams (since im only 14) and a karate grading and coursework and life.
And there will be no pairings in this... Except for maybe the default hp pairings, and some fluff between characters. People mention I keep adding hints of romance. I'm doing this unknowingly... Sorry.
I honestly wanted to finish this before June but my life is a bitch *cries*
And the 'curiosity killed the cat' I did make that up myself to the guest who asked
I am also very surprised NO ONE mentioned anything about the foreshadowing in chapter 9…. I thought it was pretty obvious ?Or was it uninteresting?...
Chapter 11: Troll hunters~
"Did you hear?! Harry is now the seeker for the Gryffindor team!" exclaimed Vasilica happily.
"Of course I did." Mumbled Arthur, flipping through one of the spells books. Lukas looked at Vas with an eyebrow raised.
"What?"
"You were the last one to know."
"Not my fault!"
"Well it was."
"Hmpf. I was busying practicing to realize." Huffed Vasilica, Arthur looked up curiously from his book.
"Practising what?" Vas blushed, eyes looking at the floor as he stumbled over his own words. The other two blondes looked curiously at him before they realized, Vasilica was amazing at Quidditch.
"Ah, you planning to try out?" asked Arthur, shuffling closer to the group.
"Yeah….. Pretty silly right?" Vasilica blushed; Lukas popped his head round from the other side of the tree.
"No, it isn't. You're good at it, with plenty of experience too. You'll get in." said the blonde, pushing some hair behind his ear.
"Aren't you a bit too 'young' to be trying out though?" Asked Arthur. "Sorry, I'm not trying to burst your bubble."
"Oh! I was just hoping they would see how awesome I am and let me in! Or try out next year or something." Arthur hummed in acknowledgement and returned to his book.
"You're good too Lukas, Arthur-"
"We hate it." Said the two in unison, both looking directly at Vas. The Romanian laughed nervously and scratched his head.
"A-Anyway we have charms next, so let's get going!" Vasilica dived up, a nervous grin still on his face as he hoisted his bag on his shoulder. Closing his book Arthur stood up, Lukas didn't say anything. The three walked to charms in a comfortable silence, they ignored the stares they still got for being 'foreigners' and walked into the classroom. Luckily, they were the first ones there so they could grab seats next to each other.
The boys had not forgotten about the incident with Quirrell, but in all honesty there was nothing they could do. Seriously what could they do? Except maybe let Lukas kill him but they still had no idea why he had done what he did.
The incident with the dogs was not forgotten about either; the three were going to go through that trap door, but right now they had bigger problems to sort. And to be quite honest they did actually want to enjoy their time here… You could tell that this was not going according to plan.
Lucky for Vas, since the incident with the blood, which Dumbledore had found out about… somehow. Damm that old man was good. Anyway, since the incident, Dumbledore had switched a few of Vasilica's lessons around. He now had charms and Defense Against The Dark arts with Lukas and Arthur, no one really questioned it either. After all it was only for this year.
The three all sat next to each other on a row near the front, they realised that at the back they would get a lot more attention. The boys were relatively good students anyway. Speaking of being good students, Fred and George hadn't played anymore pranks on them…. Maybe they were plotting for something bigger? Or maybe they hadn't given up? Nah, that didn't sound like the notorious Weasley twins the nations, had been told about.
The three sat in a comfortable silence, Vas humming a tune, Arthur doodling on a piece of spare parchment, and Lukas just staring blankly out the window. Soon, the rest of the class filed in.
"Hi." Said Harry, as he took his place next to Arthur, Ron next to Harry, Lukas on Arthur's other side and Vas next to Lukas.
"Hello."
"Hi!" Vas replied excitedly, why was that little Romanian always so excited?
"Wingardium Leviosa!"
"You're saying it wrong." Lukas looked away from his feather to see Ron waving his arms around like an idiot and Hermione scolding him.
"It's Wing-gar-dium Levi-o-sa, make the 'gar' nice and long."
"You do it, then, if you're so clever," Ron snarled. Lukas could already see how this was going to end, and he didn't even have a crystal ball.
Hermione rolled up the sleeves of her gown, flicked her wand, and said,
"Wingardium Leviosa!"
And of course the feather floated. Professor Flitwick came over and fawned over her while Lukas looked back at his feather. His, Arthur's and Vas's has been floating for the past ten minutes and Flitwick had ignored them. He, himself, was not really bothered about this, neither was Arthur. But it was very clear that Romania was bothered by it.
Vasilica was death glaring the tiny teacher; his hand was twitching slightly on his wand. He looked at Arthur who shook his head at Lukas and sighed, a tiny smirk on his face. This smirk told Lukas, that they were going to let Vasilica go.
Meanwhile, Vas was planning his revenge. It wasn't like he wanted to be fawned over, but the teacher just ignored them! And Flitwick was his head of house! It was quite obvious since day one that Flitwick didn't particularly like him… Maybe because of his… Appearance?
A dark smile made its way over Vasilica's face as he pointed his wand towards the book shelves in the corner. He muttered the spell they were meant to be learning, and the books from the corner floated out of the cupboard. Romania flicked his wand, and the books went flying towards Flitwick.
A student shouted and Flitwick turned and, just in time, managed to dodge the books. But in the process of dodging, Romania had turned his wand on Flitwick, so the little man went flying across the floor.
He stood up angrily, shaking his head and dusting himself off.
"Who did that?" he cried, he looked around the room to see every student with a look of shock on their faces, except for the weird Norwegian that just sat there blankly staring at him. England and Romania had become superb actors over the years… Just saying.
Flitwick demanded an answer, but no one saw anyone else do it. Hermione didn't think anyone could perform magic at that level; she was the only person able to make the feather float! Oh goodness! What if Flitwick thought it was her?
As the little man continued his rant, Hermione began looking around the class. Her eyes landed on the three transfers, there was something… Different about them. Something that separated them from everyone else in the class. It frustrated the bushy haired girl, because for the life of her could she could not figure out what it was. Arthur's answer still hung fresh in her mind; it was a very detailed answer, and… dark in a way… The students themselves seemed dark. Maybe, just maybe, they weren't really students at all.
But either way. Hermione Granger was going to get to the bottom of this.
By the end of the class, everyone was in a bad mood. Especially Ron.
"It's no wonder no one can stand her," he said to Harry as they pushed their way into the crowded corridor, "she's a nightmare, honestly." Norway felt someone shove their way past him and Harry, and let's say all he caught a glimpse of was Hermione's tear stained face.
"I think she heard you." Said Harry.
"No shit Sherlock." Mumbled Arthur, looking after the girl with a slight hint of grief in his eyes.
"So?" said Ron, but he looked a bit uncomfortable. "She must've noticed she's got no friends."
"She probably knows very well Ron." Said Vas, the four turned their attention to Vasilica.
"People notice when they have no friends, and it eats them up inside. Constantly alone and knowing no one likes you, maybe she was trying to be friends with you two." Ron scoffed.
"Us two? Me and Harry?"
"You're probably some of the nicest people in Gryffindor." Arthur said "Most of the time, and probably the most approachable. Think of it from her point of view Ron instead of being a selfish prick."
The two blondes walked ahead, leaving a slightly gaping red head behind them, Lukas watched the two as they left. He had always had the Nordics, and although he felt lonely a lot, he never actually was. It was pretty hard to be lonely with Denmark around. Arthur and Vasilica had been alone since they were born, the effects never left Arthur. That could be seen in his history.
Vas had been saved a little… He found his little brother, who didn't leave him. Though they barely talked. Loneliness can have two effects on people. It can make them like Vasilica, constantly wanting someone around and striving for attention. Or it can make them like Arthur, cold and distant people who pushed others away.
Loneliness works in mysterious ways.
One thing Arthur had noticed, was that the annoying bushy haired girl had not been in any of his classes since the incident with Ron this morning.
"I heard her crying in the bathroom, she just wants to be alone!" exclaimed the gossip of Gryffindor, Padma Patil.
Anyway, Arthur was just tucking into his jacket potato, when professor Quirrell suddenly ran through the doors. A look of pure terror and fear on his face.
"Troll—in the dungeons—thought you ought to know." Then he collapsed on the floor. Before the students began to panic, Arthur, Vasilica and Lukas shared a look. They were going to go see this 'troll'.
There was uproar, students were running around screaming. Before Dumbledore raised his wand and purple sparks flew out of it.
"Prefects," he rumbled, "lead your Houses back to the dormitories immediately!"
They were pushed along with the other students, but the three boys saw Harry and Ron sneaking away to join the Hufflepuffs, and decided to join them.
"What are you doing here?!" hissed Ron, Vas smiled at him.
"Troll hunting." Said the three in unison.
"Troll Hunters~ Yeah~"
The other two didn't question the trio, and immediately ran towards the girl's bathrooms. The trio were about to make their way to the dungeons when Lukas stopped them.
"The troll isn't this way…." He turned. "It's back the way we came."
"The girls… bathroom?"
"Hermione, Ron and Harry are there!" the trio's eyes widened. Arthur and Vas were thinking about what the troll would do to three first years, Lukas was thinking about what the three would do to the troll.
The trio dashed back the way they came, and they knew immediately that the troll was there, the girly screaming and the sound of things smashing echoed of the cold, stone walls. The three dashed into the room as Ron had his wand aimed at the troll.
"Wingardiu-"
"Stop!" Everyone turned to face the blonde Slytherin.
"What do you think you're doing?" Lukas looked up straight at the troll; the troll turned its dumbfounded face towards Lukas, before it cast its eyes and head to the floor. Like a small, scolded puppy.
Hermione, Ron and Harry were dumbfounded, their mouths opening and closing rapidly, like fish out of water.
"What are you doing in this school? You silly little troll what do you think you're doing?" The troll shuffled its feet; Hermione would have said that it looked embarrassed. Vas and Arthur stood there smirking a little, as Lukas scolded the troll. This was always amusing to them. Lukas looked at the troll for a few moments before walking towards. The troll looked down at the blonde, before it let itself drop to the floor, so it was sitting cross legged on its bum.
Lukas held one hand out, and the troll moved its head towards Lukas's hand. Nuzzling into it. Lukas's eyes softened a little.
"You're scared aren't you? You didn't want to hurt the girl did you?"
The troll let out a strangled sort of whine.
"I know, I know. You wanted help and she screamed." Trolls were funny creatures, people thought they were dumb, but they actually just had no common sense. Of course, Thor was an exception.
The teachers decided now was the perfect time to come into the room, Snape, McGonagall and Quirrell filed into the room. Quirrell almost fainted, while Snape and McGonagall's eyes bulged out of their heads.
"Don't do anything rash." Arthur advised the teachers.
"Although that troll looks calm, it could lash out at Lukas if it feels threatened." Warned Vasilica.
The three teachers nodded dumbly, Lukas decided there was only one was out of this. The blonde boy kept his hand still on the troll's head, while he casted a small spell on the troll. One that would be unseen to the teachers.
The troll fell to the ground snoring.
Lukas looked thoroughly exhausted, which made his two friends worry a little.
"What on earth were you thinking of?" said McGonagall. Lukas tried hard to focus on what was happening, but his vision was blurring a little and his mind was hazy. He didn't understand what was going on.
"Please, Professor McGonagall—they were looking for me."
"Miss Granger!"
"Even Lukas, Vas and Arthur!"
"We heard that Hermione was down here an-"
"-Tried to help."
"If they hadn't found me, I'd be dead now.
"You each win five points."
Everything was merging together and Lukas couldn't concentrate. Arthur looked worriedly at him, the blonde boy's eyes were their usual deep ocean blue, but the depths seemed to be missing a few fish.
That's when Arthur realised Quirrell was staring at Lukas, and it seemed the longer Quirrell kept eye contact, the more fish seemed to disappear.
Arthur currently couldn't do anything, so he looked at the only person he thought could help, Professor Snape. The man instantly caught the boy staring at him, and looked at him with slight curiosity while McGonagall continued scolding them.
Arthur jerked his head slightly, in the direction of Lukas; Snape snapped his head to the side to see his student on the verge of collapsing and Quirrell seemingly staring at the boy. But both Arthur and Snape knew he was casting a spell.
"I'll be taking Bondevik as he is my student." Snape grabbed Lukas's arm and pulled him along, the turban man glared, before his expression turned nervous and he shivered.
"Good, now that's sorted. Quirrell deal with the troll, and I'll take Mr Potter and his friends back." McGonagall grabbed the scruff of Ron's collar and began dragging him off with the other Gryffindors and Vasilica following in advance.
The two blonde's cast nervous glances back to their blonde friend who was being dragged off by Snape, but they currently couldn't do anything. They also knew that Lukas would be safe in Snape's hands.
Lukas felt weak, why wasn't he able to throw that spell off? Why didn't he realize what was happening? He felt stupid and felt like kicking himself as he was took back to the common room by Snape. Though it may sound big headed, Lukas had always prided himself as the strongest fighter of the three. Magic wise.
"I think we need a little chat? Right? Mr Bondevik?" said Snape, as instead of taking the nation to the common room, he took him to his office.
This was going to be fun.
Arthur was growing incredibly more suspicious of Quirrell. That was two attacks on the three nations; England assumed he would be the next target. Or maybe he would go after Norway again.
Who knows? This was getting dangerous. Quirrell gave Arthur a horrible feeling. It was dark whatever it was… And Arthur was sure he had felt this before. When he was a young nation wondering through the wilderness on his own. When all sorts of magical creatures tempted him.
He just had to figure out what it was.
THERE WILL PROBABLY BE SO MANY MISTAKES IN THIS CHAPTER I APOLOGIZE
The troll scene didn't turn out the way I wanted, I'm sorry, I feel like I didn't do the scene its justice.
I'll end up changing it later.
Good luck to anyone else doing exams.
Now i'm going to be dramatic
Well this is it… Farewell my Duckies. Our time together was short. So short. I apologize… But this is how it must be.
Farewell
Love chibi xx
