Hey guys! Long time no see. Yes, yes, I know this is so typical of authors. We start and abandon, but I swear to god I am finishing this. I actually have others almost done and lined up. Just uh, gotta get through my last year of university.
Also, just a heads up, since there has been such a huge time gap from when I first started this to now, my writing style has changed and so has the plot and characters. I'm trying to stay as true to the original as possible, but forgive me for any inaccuracies or inconsistencies. Anyway, enjoy!
ALSO, HAPPY NEW YEAR! MAY 2016 REST IN PIECES. Fingers crossed that 2017 is better.
Chapter 11
Ineffable
The room exploded into angry, disillusioned screams demanding why she did such a thing. Too bad Kira didn't actually care to answer them. On the contrary, she shoved them all out and started throwing things into a bag at random. Then, her shoulders slumped. What the hell was she doing? Did she honestly believe she could get forgiveness? She didn't want to give up, but she was just so exhausted. Not to mention I'd be going against direct orders. I'm on 'vacation' now…
Reluctantly, she put her bag away and slinked downstairs. Everyone was tense and looking at her cautiously. "Don't worry, I'm not going to look for them. Actually, I've decided to try this whole being a normal teenager thing so… I'm at your disposal."
It seemed everyone was holding a breath and they happily agreed that it was the best decision. Kyoko and Haru talked excitedly to her for a good two hours. They asked her all sorts of questions about her work and why she was in the hospital for so long. Kira slowly felt herself loosen up and enjoy the conversation. Somehow, the topic of dating kept coming up and they said they knew a bunch of girls that Kira would get along with.
Just one problem.
"I really don't want to date right now," she said nervously, trying to get off the topic.
"Why not?" Haru asked, insistent. "From what Kyoko-chan has told me you're popular at your school, right?"
Kira tried her best to not cringe. "I suppose. Still, I want to focus on getting myself together before dating…" It wasn't a complete lie.
They seemed to buy it and switched the topic. Finally, the girls left and Kira was let to explain why she broke the homicidal maniac out of prison. Seeing as they were pretty much guaranteed permanent members, she told them the gist of their history.
"A long time ago, when Mukuro and I were like four, possibly younger, we were both part of this experiment along with a bunch of other kids. He was there longer than anyone and in a short time saw a lot of death. When I was brought in he decided he didn't want to be alone anymore and we became friends."
Tsuna stared at her with a forlorn expression, he was still so soft, but now Kira actually admired him for it. It was hard to keep your innocence in this business. "Mukuro said a girl betrayed him though…"
Kira smiled. "That's me. Now, I was under orders to not reveal my identity, but since you guys aren't outsiders." She paused. "That was stupid, you're going to be my boss one day so telling you is something I should do."
Yamamoto and Tsuna's faces were priceless.
"But we're in the same gym class and w-we even changed in the-"
"-I changed in the toilet stall."
Tsuna tried his best to go along with it and prompted her to continue her story.
"So we became friends. You see, they were obsessed with this one experiment. They wanted to create a superhuman and were convinced in implanting this microchip into the brain. They thought the earlier they did it the more promising the results would be as the brain would have more time to adapt to it."
She pointed to herself.
"It's in me right now."
Yamamoto made a 'wow' sound while Gokudera stared at her with skepticism.
"People kept dying though, and Mukuro had had enough, so he used his illusionary powers to protect me while I was in surgery. He's the reason I'm alive, but I left him. When we were six, a group came to rescue us. There was a huge battle and I was so tired and scared that I didn't tell them there was still someone left. Mukuro was in the lowest level, in the most secure lab that day."
"Kira, do you still feel guilty?"
"Of course I do." She began pacing. "I should have said something. I wanted to, but it was such chaos and I didn't know who they were or what they were doing, and by the time I realized they said there was no time left. Mukuro was already being moved. So I opened my mind-"
"-what?"
Kira looked at the questioning faces.
"Um, as you know, Mukuro uses illusions, but that just means he's in your brain, manipulating your perception of reality. Since the chip allows me full control of my body, and I mean 100% control of every chemical reaction, I can put up barriers or negate his illusions. Anyway, I took down the barriers and I told him I would send help, but help never came. I didn't know where they took him and the people who rescued me weren't willing to do it a second time."
"Your rescuers, were they the Vongola?"
Kira nodded. "But it was during a troubled time. They didn't have the manpower to do a second raid, and not for one person."
Everyone in the room looked visibly troubled. Mukuro was much more complicated than they thought, but at least now they no longer held any grief against Kira.
"I tried to contact him, or rather, let him contact me. But it was useless. They had constructed something that kept his powers under control, and I stopped trying. Then, he showed up in Japan and I had to do something…"
She didn't tell them that she didn't know Ken or Chikusa. They came after her. Everyone came after her. The Estraneo didn't begin experimenting on their own kids until they had no choice.
She also kept out more intimate parts. Back then, she and Mukuro were the only survivors. At one point she even promised to be with him forever, but he had changed so much, and she couldn't help but feel it was her fault. Still, some part of her still believed the old him was in there somewhere.
Tsuna walked towards her. "Kira-san…"
"Look," she said, turning around. "I'm not asking you guys to forgive me or be okay with this, but I just wanted you to understand."
"Are you sure it was okay telling us all this?" Yamamoto asked.
"Yeah," she replied, letting out a sigh of relief. That therapist was right, talking helped. "You're all members of Tsunayoshi's family, so you were going to find out at some point. I'd rather it come from me anyway."
"One question," Gokudera started. "Why is your voice so low?"
Kira gave him a huge grin. "Just one of my tricks. Here, listen." She cleared her throat and then spoke in a voice that was at least two octaves higher. "This is my normal voice."
"EEEEHHH?!" There were three gaping mouths. "What the-"
"Told you I can get my body to do anything."
They started pelting her with questions and requests to perform various things from balancing on one finger to singing in soprano.
"Takeshi, I DO NOT sing!"
"Is that how you can fight?!"
"Her adrenal gland is probably the size of a melon by now!"
Kira glared pointedly at Gokudera. "Give me some credit, I at least take care of my organs better than that, especially the ones I rely on."
"What else can you do?"
Kira hummed and poked her cheek with a finger. What else? "There's not much to say. I'm sure the chip is responsible for my brains, but absolute control over my body is everything."
"Huh?" Gokudera looked unimpressed. "That's it? To think you can do things like that just because of a tiny chip in your brain."
"Amazing what technology can achieve, right?"
They left shortly after, and Kira was left alone. Dino had gone back to Italy. He said he had taken way too much time off work and that Kira looked like she could take somewhat better care of herself so he wasn't as worried. He did offer to leave some help behind with the estate, but she declined.
Dusk was settling in, and as she stared at the sunset she felt the guilt that ate at her for ten years fade. Then, her phone rang.
Kyouya.
"Hey."
"Come to the school immediately."
The connection cut off.
"As rude as ever."
She twirled the phone in her hands and wondered if she should go. Well, she had to face him sooner or later. Also, she did say she would try to be a regular teenager so should she try to explain that to Hibari as well? He wouldn't care, but still…
Might as well… haven't seen him since I ditched the battle.
Then, a sudden feeling of unease came over her. Why wasn't he in a hospital? She became increasingly worried and was driving to Namimori at breakneck speed.
When she arrived, the school was completely deserted. All except one. She went into the reception room without knocking and Hibari was lying on the couch, covered in injuries.
"You're late."
"You never specified a time."
She could have sworn she saw him smirk and sat beside him. "So what's up?"
"What's up?"
Uh-oh.
"You brought that pineapple head over to my house at 4AM, how's that for what's up?"
"Uh, yeah, about that-"
"-and then you left as soon as you came."
"That one's on me-"
"-and now my property is completely trashed."
"Okay, I can pay for that."
He seemed like he was done talking.
"More importantly." Nope, he wasn't. "You've missed an unacceptable number of classes."
Really, that's what's more important?
"Kizuna, if you continue to damage my school's reputation, I will bite you to death."
She moved to the other couch.
"I totally understand," she said nervously as she held up her palms in surrender. "Actually, that's why I came. I've sort of made a commitment to try to be more normal. My work is being put on hold so I can focus on things like school and… socialization."
It felt weird even saying that last word.
"Spit it out."
"Um," the words were getting caught in her throat. "I'm not asking to leave the committee, but maybe take a hiatus from it?"
The answer was immediate. "No."
She subconsciously pouted. This was not fair.
"Please?"
She crouched next to his face and cupped her face in her palms, trying to look as cute as possible.
"No."
"Pretty please?"
"No."
"Why aren't you in the hospital?"
Hibari's expression changed slightly. She finally dropped the subject. "I didn't feel like going."
"Well, are you at least going to tend to yourself?" He gave her a look that said he didn't need to, which only made her grumble. "Come on, don't you have any medical supplies?"
Actually, come to think of it, we have the infirmary at our disposal.
"Come on, let's go get you fixed up."
"There's no staff today."
"I know, but I can do it too."
He still didn't move and she wasn't sure if that was out of stubbornness or because he physically couldn't move. Why he chose to come to the school when he was already at home, she couldn't fathom but chose to keep her mouth shut.
"Kyouya, please."
He sat up and she didn't miss the tiny bit of wincing. So it was the latter. Not bothering to ask for permission, she pulled his left arm over her shoulder and began dragging him out. He supported most of his weight, not wanting to rely on Kira. They got to the infirmary faster than she anticipated. He was really stubborn.
"Here, sit."
He did so without complaining. Actually, he was curious to see her skills. When Reborn said she would be useful, he didn't consider this. Tech nerd and a medic, not bad.
She moved around as if she knew the procedures like the back of her hand. Kira didn't even think twice when she removed his shirt as she was in medic mode. There was a huge gash in his lower abdomen.
"I don't even know how you haven't bled out yet."
He scoffed. "It's just a small cut."
She stared at him in disbelief. What the flipping hell. "Right."
As she cleaned him up and bandaged him, she remembered her promise to Akito. That was weeks ago, but at least she kept tabs on him. Hibari seemed done with him so maybe she shouldn't bring it up. He seemed to sense the hesitation in her movements.
"What is it now?"
"Nothing…" she mumbled and moved to place a bandaid onto a cut on his cheek, but a hand darted out and grabbed her wrist.
"I don't tolerate liars, Kizuna."
She looked at the hand gripping her wrist absentmindedly. For some reason, the initial anxiety she had was gone. Was it because she finally faced Mukuro? It made sense. For as long as she could remember, he haunted her, but it seemed she had put the ghost to rest.
"I promise I won't lie to you then." She gently pried her wrist free and set his hand back beside him. "On one condition."
"What?"
"You have to call me by my name."
He raised an eyebrow. "I'm already doing that."
She smiled and shook her head. "My first name."
"That's it?"
Hibari thought it was a weird request, and quite a stupid one. He could have asked for a lot more, but whatever.
"Fine."
"I was just thinking about Akito." She began prepping the needle and surgical thread. "I told him I would talk to you about leaving him alone since he was being used." She motioned for him to lie down. "The stitches will fall out by themselves."
"You needn't worry about that herbivore."
"Yeah, I've been looking after him." She began stitching up the wound. "I still wanted to mention it since I promised him I would."
Hibari didn't take his eyes off him the whole time.
"There, all done."
It was only then that she noticed he was barechested. He noticed her staring but didn't make anything of it.
Right, he still doesn't know I'm a girl. I feel kind of guilty since I told the others, but there's no telling how he'll react to this. Besides, I'm not sure he's even officially a member.
She began cleaning up. "Anyway, you're all set so unless there's something else, you should just rest. I'm trusting you to change your bandages on a regular basis."
She finished and leaned against a desk, waiting for his reply. He was putting his shirt back on and pointedly ignoring her suggestion.
"Come on, it's for your own health."
"And what if I say I won't?"
Kira groaned. Why was everyone so difficult? "Kyooouya," she whined. "You'll get an infection. Even if you don't want to do it, can't you get one of your lackeys to do it?"
As soon as the words left her mouth, she realized she made a big mistake. He turned to her with a smirk. "You mean like you?"
Kira gripped the desk and tried to play it cool. "Please, don't insult me. I am not one of your henchmen." I've only been cooperating for the sake of the family.
"And who would you recommend to tend to my injuries, Kira?"
The sound of her name sent shivers down her spine.
"Who's responsible for my injuries, Kira?"
It was extremely unnerving, she decided.
"Who should take care of me, if not you, Kira?"
She didn't even notice how close he'd gotten and she was forced to look away in shame. This was all her fault. I have the free time. No training Tsunayoshi, no work, no nothing.
"Alright, you don't have to be so cruel," she pouted. Hibari took a step back. "Let's go then. Your house, I presume?"
When they reached her car, Hibari had some choice words. And questions.
"You're a first year."
"Yes."
"You drive."
"Yes."
He shot her an annoyed look that demanded she explain herself. He also noticed she was listed as 15 years old, but he let that slide as she said since she was homeschooled she was slightly off in her schooling.
"So here's the thing… I'm actually 16."
She started the car and began driving at exactly the speed limit. Somehow she didn't think he would appreciate her mad drifting skills through his city.
"I learned when I was a lot younger. But to be fair, everyone did. You know kids in Italy are allowed to drive when they're 13?"
Well not real cars but still.
"And kids like me… well, as soon as we can reach the gas pedal the training is on. Besides, you have a motorcycle."
He said that was different and she just mumbled 'sure' under her breath. As they got out of the car, she observed the damage as the illusion didn't work on her. It was going to take a lot of money. Not that it was a problem, but she definitely saw what Reborn meant by be more careful. She couldn't tell if Hibari could see through the illusion since he didn't have any training against illusionists, but he definitely saw the projectors all around his lawn. They were one of Kira's collaborations with Verde that actually beared fruit.
Kira led him to his room and left him to sleep off the lesser injuries. She said she would stay, but it was only half an hour later and she was regretting her words. She could only do so much on her phone. Speaking of which, she was staring at an annoying email. They were orders to sell the warehouse. Apparently price wasn't the problem, but they had suspected she would turn it into her lab and deny orders to not work.
They should give me more credit. Whatever, I don't even care. Sell it, keep it, it's all the same. I could use the funds to repair Kyouya's house.
Meanwhile, Hibari was lying awake. What the hell did he do? He was going to go to the hospital, but he let Kira tend to him. And then, ugh it was even awkward to think about, he actually made Kira his personal caretaker and have him go to his house. Hibari couldn't understand his actions and it ticked him off. Something was off about the blond, but he couldn't put his finger on it. Whatever it was, he'd sleep it off. With that, he felt his eyelids get heavy and began drifting off.
Kira crept up the stairs, trying to be as quiet as possible. She poked her head inside Kyouya's room, trying to assess if he was still awake. Then, barely a whisper, she called out tentatively, "Kyouya?"
Piercing blue eyes and a pair of hands with a vice-grip had her pinned against the wall by her neck. He was so not a morning person.
The fact was, it had only been a few minutes since Hibari began drifting off to sleep, and hearing Kira's voice invoked in him a strange feeling. The sleep faded from his vision and he noticed the position they were in. Kira was looking up at him, but there was no fear in his eyes. "You shouldn't wake me up."
"I noticed."
But he didn't loosen his grip. Kira thought he must have just been really out of it, given it looked like he hadn't slept in two days. Hibari would never admit that it was because he didn't want to.
Regardless, she started wriggling her arm free and pushing him away. He hated this feeling. "I was just going to leave a note if you were asleep. Since I don't want to impose, I figured I'd go home and check up on you in the morning."
"No." He said quickly, almost too quickly. "You're staying with me."
She knew she should have said no, but she agreed. There was a strange feeling of foreboding that came over her as she realized this was the end of something. "Just let me get some stuff and I'll be back later tonight, alright?"
"Fine."
Kira spaced out in her car. What had she agreed to? Should she tell Reborn? No, he was totally preoccupied with Tsuna. This was on her, and besides, Hibari didn't look like he was going to hurt her. Wait-hurt her?
He... hasn't actually hurt me. Given, there were some close calls, but he hasn't. This was unsettling. He hadn't even bruised her wrists from all the times he's grabbed her. That was the other thing, he didn't seem like the touchy-feely type, but he was always so close to her. No, I'm reading too much into this again.
She returned to the house around midnight, her car packed with clothes and electronics. Can't believe I'm temporarily moving in with Kyouya. What would everyone think if I told them?
Actually, it seemed like a good idea. She wanted to see the look on their faces. We have school tomorrow so it'll be fun.
She only brought her laptop and a backpack inside as she didn't want to risk waking Hibari up. Now that I think about it, where am I supposed to sleep? Her eyes wandered to the couch. That'll do. She was out within minutes.
"Wake up."
Kira's brain was vehemently trying to ignore the voice, but the more rational part of her told her it was a baaad idea and she peeked at the source of the voice. "Morning."
"Get ready for class."
Kira sat up, bleary eyed and still comprehending her situation. She was in Hibari's house. She slept on his couch. She was here to take care of him. "Kyouya, wait."
He stopped and cast a glance over his shoulder. "You can change my bandages after you get cleaned up."
Is he implying that I stink? Either way, I need a shower.
She was careful to not leave anything behind in his bathroom, her laundry packed into a bag and thrown back into her car. This was actually kind of fun, living out of her car.
"Kyouya, you in here?" She walked in while he was taking off his shirt and froze. Don't. Do. Anything. Weird. You're used to seeing much worse. Getting into medic mode, she pushed away the blush and composed herself. "Where do you keep your medical supplies?"
He pointed at a door and she pulled it out from his closet and instructed him to sit on his bed. He was healing quickly, so that was good. It meant she didn't have to stay as long as she thought. Her fingers grazed the stitches and she felt his muscles tense.
"Sorry." She withdrew her hand and began shuffling around the box for antiseptic. "It's a bit of a bad habit."
Hibari just stared at her, not willing to say that he didn't mind.
"Anyway, everything is going well." She dabbed at the stitches as the wound was still not fully scabbed over. "You should be almost fully recovered in a week."
She put the box away and when she turned around she was face to face with Hibari's nose. He simply reached over her shoulder and took out his uniform jacket. She stared at his retreating back and couldn't help but think it was a bit unnecessary.
Could've just waited three more seconds for me to move.
What Hibari didn't understand was his sudden urge to be near him. As soon as Kira said he'd be here only one week-what? Only one week? Why was he thinking only one? That fight with Mukuro must have really affected him.
Hibari still couldn't get over the things Mukuro said. To begin with, he called Kira Ki-kun the whole time and just said random things like what his favourite colour was, what his favourite ice cream flavours were, why he preferred tea over coffee, and various other random things. It was infuriating.
Then there was the Cavallone. It was super weird to see the taller blond hold his nerd like that, and it ticked him off more how close they were. All he wanted to do at that time was bite them both to death. Well…
He glanced behind him to see Kira putting a notebooks in his bag. Was it both of them? He couldn't remember. "Hurry up."
"Coming."
Hibari was joined by Kusakabe at the school entrance. Kira had drifted away while they were walking, but Hibari had a sneaking suspicion that it wasn't on accident. So he didn't want to be seen with him, was that it?
Kira had actually doubled back to see if she could find Tsuna. Hibari didn't live in the same direction and she didn't want the hassle of explaining to her classmates why it looked like she was walking to school with someone like him. There was a tiny tinge of guilt, but nothing she couldn't repress.
Finally, she saw the familiar mop of brown hair and ran towards it excitedly.
"TSUNAYOSHI!"
This caught him so off guard he almost fell over. She grabbed him, Gokudera and Yamamoto to the side and started recounting what happened last night rapidly. When she was done, Gokudera had a look on his face that she did not like one bit.
"Whaaat?"
"Pfft," he sniggered into his palm. "He is so obvious."
"Excuse me?"
"You are too."
Yamamoto tried to step in before things got out of hand. "Kira, what he means to say is that maybe Hibari-san likes you."
Tsuna a made sound that echoed what she was feeling. "No way. He doesn't, you know, know." She gestured towards herself.
"I may not like him but he's no idiot," Gokudera cut in. "He's gonna figure it out. And besides, haven't you noticed that you're the only person on this planet that he hasn't beaten into a bloody mess yet?"
"Yes, I had considered that, but-"
"-but what?"
"I've been playing this smart to avoid such a situation, and it's not like he hasn't expressed an interest in acquainting my face with his fist."
She wanted to talk about this more, but another disciplinary member showed up and told them they were late, cutting off their conversation. During the lesson, Kira waited impatiently for lunch.
Wait a minute. Am I actually eager to talk about my feelings? And with a bunch of guys? When did I get so… girly.
Kira willed those foreign thoughts away and focused on stopping them. She was confused. She was going through a lot of changes and met someone with weird habits. That's all. That's-
"Will Kizuna Kira please report to the reception room."
Oh fuck me.
She ignored the looks her class gave her as she trudged out. Didn't know people actually trudged. When she opened the door, Hibari was sprawled out on the couch, a first aid kit on the coffee table and blood soaking his shirt.
Oh.
"What did you do this time?" She meant for it to sound exasperated, but it came out more like a reprimanding parent.
"The stitches opened up."
Crap.
Not wasting any time, she actually ripped open his shirt. He just laid there, passive. This was so weird, but then she remembered that he was probably used to this kind of medical treatment, owning the hospital and all.
It looks so much worse than this morning. Just what the hell happened.
"Since you obviously don't want to tell me what happened, I'm just going to advise you to not do anything strenuous for the next two weeks. Maybe three."
Hibari's lips curled into a smile like a satisfied cat. "Good to hear."
She wasn't sure what was so good about that. "Whatever you say." She got to work immediately and was done in a few minutes. She motioned for Hibari to sit up so she could wipe the couch and clean her hands.
Then, the lunch bell rang. Kira put everything away and made to leave when his voice stopped her. "Where do you think you're going?"
"To lunch?"
"Hm?" He faked a frown. "And I don't suppose I was part of your plan?"
"Uh." She had totally overlooked him. Honestly, the things Gokudera and Yamamoto said were bothering her and she was trying her damnedest to not believe it, but now her brain was sending her all kinds of suggestive messages. "I'll be back in about fifteen minutes then. Anything you want to eat?"
Hibari ordered a traditional Japanese lunch, which meant she had to go out and get it since cafeteria food was clearly not going to cut it. She had plenty of time to think about what she would say to him. If she would tell him at all. He was a huge help in defeating Mukuro, even if he did it for his own reasons. There's a good chance that he'll be part of the family. Reborn is so insistent on it. Hm, is that Tsunayoshi?
She called out to him and saw that he was hunched over against the exterior of the fence. "What's wrong?"
"R-Reborn…"
Looks like he got kicked. Or punched. Or both.
"But Kira-san, I have something to tell you. I forgot to mention this before, but you said you broke Mukuro out of prison."
"Yes."
"And that his security hadn't been changed?"
"Nope."
"You also mentioned you met him in a dream and he said that he had been in there seven years?"
"Yup." Oh. That's where he's going with this. "Tsunayoshi, Mukuro's real body was hidden the whole time. He never escaped. The body you fought was an illusion. A very good one, but still an illusion. He can materialize things into reality now."
"No w-way…" Tsuna's face said 'and you let him out of prison!?'.
"Yeah, and I still can't believe he had Ken and Chikusa hurt a lot of regular kids…" He didn't do it himself though. He had a weird sense of honour and pride, at least that part hadn't changed.
"Are you sure Japan is safe?"
To be totally honest, no.
"Let's not worry about that right now. I have to get a certain prefect his lunch."
She hurried away and picked the first place that seemed decent. When she returned, Hibari was napping. Oh crap. Do I wake him up? Compromising, she waved the food in front of his nose, hoping the smell would wake him up. No dice. Why did it have to come to this.
Kira placed the food on the table and keeping her body as far away as possible, reached out with her index finger and poked Hibari on the shoulder. The effect was instant. Hibari seized both her wrists and had her pinned to the ground.
"Lunch is served."
That came out weird. It was almost like I was talking about mysel-NO! Do not go there.
Hibari's gaze moved to the takeout on the table and with a grunt he got up to sit on the couch. He did just have his stitches redone. Though, he wouldn't mind if he opened them again.
"Here." She handed him some chopsticks and began eating her share. They finished lunch in silence and he promptly went back to sleep. The bell signaled the end of lunch and she unwillingly went back to class.
On the way back, she heard a bunch of people discussing the upcoming autumn festival. Apparently, along with the school, the city was having a huge event for the weekend. Kyoko was among the people that wanted to go, which meant Tsuna was going to go, which meant that Kira was probably going to go. She made a note to research what the customs were.
Unfortunately, or fortunately, she couldn't focus in class and propped a textbook up so she could use her phone. Yukatas were optional but preferable?
"Yo, Kizuna, are you going to the school festival?"
"Probably."
Some of the girls were whispering that they wanted to see the Italian duo in Yukatas.
I wonder what Kyouya looks like in a yukata.
…
Why is my brain betraying me.
By the end of classes, she was so relieved to see Hibari hadn't opened his wounds again. She said a short goodbye to Tsuna and half-jogged to Hibari standing by the gate. "Hey."
"Hello."
Was he smiling slightly?
"How much longer until we leave?"
Hibari focused on the students leaving. "You can go ahead first."
Kira blinked at him. Well, if he insisted. She had to make some calls about fixing his house anyway. She began jogging back, eager to be reunited with her car when a sharp pain shot through her abdomen. Her body was not happy with her excursion to Italy. They were right that she had pushed her organs too far. Damn-freaking-it.
As soon as she got there she began raiding his fridge. After an hour she finally finished cooking. Did I make two people's portions? Just then, the door opened. Speak of the devil.
"I made some for you too… if you're in the mood for an early dinner." I'll leave out the accidental part.
Hibari was staring at the food like it was poison. Kira's eye twitched.
"Hey, I'm not that bad of a cook."
"Clean this mess up later." Hibari gestured towards the sink, pulled out a chair and began eating. Kira sat across from him and started nibbling on some steamed veggies and rice.
"Oh, by the way, I made some calls and is it okay that people come over to do repairs tomorrow morning?"
Hibari put his bowl down and looked at her thoughtfully. In normal circumstances, yes. But considering… "No. They can come after I've recovered."
"Really? Um, okay then."
She quickly sent a few texts and continued eating. Her stomach was so not her number one fan right now. It took forever to digest anything, and the chewing made her jaw hurt. Eating is so annoying… euh, am I really that addicted to my pills?
Hibari finished and went upstairs to get washed up, leaving Kira to her thoughts. After he got out she'd have to see to his wounds again. Tapping the chopsticks against her lips, Kira thought about what kind of yukata to wear. The sun was setting, but shops were still open. It wouldn't hurt to look around for some patterns.
Kira snuck out quietly, closing the door gingerly behind her.
Hibari stared at the blond head running down his front yard and into the streets. Kira had forgotten to check up on him. When he got back, things were going to be interesting.
Short note, not sure if I've said this before but I switch between he and she to show when someone is thinking specifically of Kira. This most applies to Hibari, and it separates second person from third person. So yeah, it may get a bit messy. I will do my best to update this through uni, but since I am in my last year and last semester, I really have to focus to make sure I secure all my credits. With that said, I am currently working on chapter 14, so you'll get at least two more chapters from Feb-Mar.
Drop a review if you enjoyed this, it really helps :D
Again, happy new year everyone!
