The rest of the afternoon was spent in more amicable conversation. The two talked about mundane day to day things, movie they had seen recently, music they had found that they liked, events in their communities, and some other things like that.

Eventually evening came around.

"So, are you going to call America tonight," Prussia said casually.

Canada flinched slightly but replied evenly, "Yeah, I guess I might as well just get it over with." He looked over at Prussia briefly, "And I'm assuming you will use force if necessary to make sure I do it eventually, probably sooner rather than later."

Prussia cackled, "Yes, I am not above literally twisting your arm."

"Right," Canada said with some unease.

They continued driving down a road just a short distance outside the city; there wasn't a lot to look at besides the city lights retreating in the distance. Soon enough they turned into a driveway and parked in front of a neat little two story house.

"You know, this is the first time I've ever seen your house and I am not the least bit surprised by it," remarked Prussia.

Canada chuckled, "I do think it suits me very well."

Both countries unfolded themselves from the car and walked up the front porch steps to the door. Canada unlocked it and gestured for Prussia to go in first. Prussia was immediately distracted by the complete and total normalcy of the whole space.

It looked like a typical farmhouse, wood furnishing and comfy sitting places but overall sparsely decorated. Most nations had mementos hanging around, an old trophy here, a picture of them with old leaders there, generally stuff that made their homes seem at least a little out of the ordinary. Canada had none of that though. Prussia thought it strange. She herself had a stash of scrapbooks filled with old paintings and photographs of her with the people she had liked.

Canada followed her into the space shortly after taking off his shoes and straightening the shoes Prussia had splayed haphazardly across the floor while staring at his home.

Canada spoke, "Do you want coffee or tea or something?"

"Hmm," Prussia thought for a moment, "No thanks."

"Alright, I need a hot drink to steady my nerves before I phone Alfred. You can take a seat in the living room or in the kitchen, wherever you'd prefer."

Prussia hummed an affirmative and Canada disappeared through the dining room to the left and into the kitchen. Prussia wandered into the living room off to the right first to look more closely at what all he had in the room. It continued to be incredibly normal even upon further inspection. The only things in the whole room that gave any indication that Matthew could even be a little important were three pictures of him with recent popular leaders. The rest was not at all noteworthy.

Prussia followed after Canada into the kitchen, having quickly become bored with the other room. Canada stood at the counter where a mug already occupied by a tea bag sat while he waited for the kettle to boil. Prussia stood partially in the doorway and watched quietly as Canada shifted through his cupboard obviously looking for something. What he withdrew a moment later was a small bottle of flavouring. Prussia had pretty good eyesight but she couldn't quite see it from the doorway so she stepped further into the room.

Of course as soon as she did that Canada noticed her and surreptitiously moved the bottle out of her line of sight. Just as Prussia opened her mouth to ask about it the kettle let out a clear high whistle, cutting her off. Holding up his pointer finger to indicate that he would be just a moment Canada took the kettle and poured the boiling water into his mug. Once he was done pouring he also added a couple drops of the mystery liquid to the cup before tucking the tiny bottle back in the cupboard.

Prussia still hadn't managed to get a good look at it and the curiosity was making her itch. Once again though, before she could ask, she was interrupted.

"Okay, I'm ready." Canada said, with less gusto than he was obviously trying to project.

Prussia nodded once and they both moved to the living room where the phone sat. Setting his mug on the coffee table Canada took a seat on the couch and Prussia sat down beside him. Then he picked up the phone and began dialing.
