Chapter 11

Percy tried to clear his mind, he sat at the bottom of the lake with his eyes closed, even the Naiads kept their distance from him, sensing the change in the water around them as it swirled around the son of Poseidon.

The look on Annabeth's face, she was so angry with him for speaking against Markos but Percy only followed what she had said right at the beginning of their journey, she didn't trust Markos at first either, but now, yes he had helped them, Percy could not deny that Markos had save their lives with the hell hounds, but he still was a dangerous being and Annabeth was protecting him as if they had been friends for years. Percy didn't understand it, Annabeth was a daughter of the Goddess of wisdom and yet she was being irrational about this guy.

Could the blonde really have feelings for the Son of Ares, Percy thought that after they defeated Cronus and Annabeth had come back from death that he and Annabeth would discuss their feelings. There was no doubting Percy's feelings for the daughter of Athena, but now, now he feels like she is pulling away from him. He didn't want to pressure her after she lost Luke Castellan, even if she had told him that she was not in love with him, everyone knew that that was not 100% true, there had always been some chemistry between them. But had Percy now waited too long, missed his shot? They had been best friends for years, he thought that maybe now they could be something more, was he wrong to feel that way.

Percy opened his eyes as a shadow flickered over the surface of the water, a figure lurked above. The water suddenly shifted, overpowering Percy's control on it, bringing him gently to the surface of the water,

Percy soon realised that there was more than one standing there on the pier, a hand extended, pulling him out of the water and he was greeted with Grover's grave face, behind him stood Chiron and another man which caused his jaw dropped. There behind the centaur was Percy's biological father, Poseidon, God of the Sea stood there, his aqua green eyes exactly the same as Percy's own, he also had jet black hair, just a little shorter than his own.

"Hello Percy" he greeted solemnly, he didn't have his usual godly youth look around his temples were grey and wrinkles touched the corners of his eyes

"What are you doing here?" Percy gawked, Poseidon stepped forward, the water becoming too calm in his presence, something was wrong, why else would Poseidon come to Camp Half-Blood

"Breaking the treaty" he confirmed as he came to stand in front of his son "Hades has taken the Baetylus from Hephaestus's safe, Zeus is furious but he will do nothing until the threat reaches Olympus, my brother does not care for the human world" Poseidon looked down ashamed of his brothers

"So why do you not intervene" asked Percy ignoring the look Chiron was trying to give him "Get it back from Hades? Stop him, surely the other Gods do not wish for this to happen"

Poseidon sighed, scratching his bearded chin "Percy you don't understand the way my world works, I cannot go against Hades with Zeus's permission, we swore a treaty, all of the Olympians" he placed a hand on his son's shoulder giving it a supportive squeeze

"I'm sorry to put this on you Percy, it's such a burden to bear for one so young, but I believe in you, look at all you have accomplished, you have friends that will stand by your side no matter what, you will win Percy" he paused for a moment before pulling Percy into an embrace

Percy inhaled deeply, wrapping his arms around his father, He smelled like the fresh open sea air, the kind after a violent storm, just as the sea was becoming calm once more and everything was going to be okay

"Be safe my son" he whispered

He released Percy and walked towards the lake, dissipating into the water, until the water returned to it's natural state

"Dad wait!" Percy called but he was gone, the water smooth as though nothing had happened, Percy kept his eyes on the lake "I need your help" he muttered

The tap of hooves on wood signalled Chiron's approach, he stood there next to Percy for a moment, he too looking out across the water and his camp, his home

"It will not be easy Percy, but then again our lives never are" he turned to the young Demi-God "But this is what it means to be a Son of a God, only we can prevent monsters from devastating the human world and our own way of life"

Percy knew Chiron was right and if Hades had got the Baetylus, then it was only a matter of time before Tityus was released, they had to act fast

He turned to Grover, the satyr watched him with worry in his eyes "We need to get ready"
