"Don't believe what others tell you. Be yourself. The real you is you and nobody can ever change that. I believe in you.. And so does everyone else... No matter what happens, I will support you.. In your life and to be Tsuna's right-hand man, okay?"-Kohana Kazumi
-Third Person's POV-
Chip! Chirp! Chirp!
A little blue bird chirped happily as it awoke from its not so long slumber, waking a certain blacknette up as well.
Rubbing her eyes, she tried to suppress a yawn, "Eh? What do we have here?" She said raising an eyebrow as she took notice of the small creature beside her. The said creature, on the other hand, returned the red-eyed girl's look of curiosity and tilted its head. The action made the girl chuckle lightly.
"Aren't you scared of me?" She asked the bird as it flew and landed on her right shoulder, nuzzling its head to her cheek.
"I guess it's a no?" The blackenette smiled, slowly standing up. The bird on her shoulder stopped its previous action and looked at her human companion as if it was asking her something.
"It's still 2 p.m. Do you want to eat something, little bird?" She asked as the bird nodded in return.
"By the way, I'm Kohana Kazumi … And you are?"
"Chirp?"
"I'm guessing you don't have a name, do you?"
"…"
"Okay then, I'll name you…..hmmmmmmm…. how about …Ikki?"
"…"
"Saichi?"
"….."
"Rina?"
"…"
"….Mavis?"
"Chirp! Chirp!"
Kohana smiled again and petted the bird gently, "Okay then Mavis, let's go find something to eat."
"Chirp!"
-Kohana's POV-
Well, I found a friend, I think?...
"So.. What do you want to eat, Mavis?"
"Chirp?"
"Hmm, there's a bakery nearby..Do you want to eat some bread?" I asked as Mavis nodded.
Satisfied by her answer, I started walking towards the bakery and bought a bag of bread for me and Mavis to chow down. The both of us then sat on a bench near a river and silently started eating. After a few minutes, I stood up and started walking with Mavis on my shoulder.
"Well that was delicious, don't you think so, Mavis?"
"Chirp!"
"A new found friend, young mistress?" Dago asked.
"Yeah, and Hibird's possible girlfriend," I snickered.
As I was about to cross a certain bridge, I heard a yell.
"Darn it!" It growled.
"What did I do wrong?!" Then realization hit me, 'Oh, if it isn't Gokudera-kun.' I thought as I saw a mop of silver hair. Slowly, I walked towards him.
"Oi…what's the matter?" He snapped his head towards me and sent me a glare.
"Why do you care you STUPID WOMAN!" Stab. Ouch, that hurt.
A tick mark appeared on my forehead as I planned for his death, "What did you-" I was planning on...No. I AM going to strangle him alive but….. seeing people gathering around us; whispering and staring at us, stopped me from doing so, so I dragged Gokudera-kun under the Namimori bridge, by the riverside and threw him into the water.
"What the?! Stupid Wo-" Gokudera yelled as I cut him off.
"WHAT. IS. THE. MATTER. WITH. YOU?!" I asked, narrowing my eyes dangerously as he averted his eyes.
"Why do you care?" He scowled, repeating the same words again. I glared at him.
"Tell. Me. Now." Gokudera, lowered his head and gritted his teeth in frustration.
"Che…..Reborn-san said... that I was a disgrace to the tenth and was not qualified for the tenth's right hand man." He said, frowning.
'Really Reborn? What are you planning this time?' I sighed.
"Are you really Lavina's son?" I muttered, crossing my arms as an image of Gokudera's late mother flashed in my mind.
Hearing her name, the Italian abruptly stood up "What?!" He yelled..again. Getting tired of his loud voice, I dragged him again and this time I threw him on the grass.
He sat down immediately and took out his dynamites, "You!" I sighed and got my scythe out, locking it on his neck.
"Calm down Gokudera-kun…"I told him as he lowered his dynamite but not his guard down.
"Why? Why do you know my mother?" He muttered as he, once again, lowered his head. I sat beside him silently while Mavis flew and landed on my head.
Letting Gokudera-kun calm down a bit, I tilted my head and looked at the sky, "Actually, I idolized your mother greatly. She was my inspiration for playing the piano. I looked up to her. She was very beautiful, kind and talented."
Hearing my words, the silvernette snapped his head towards me, eyes widened, "You..You knew my mother?!"
"Well not actually... Just let me finish!….." I said, smacking him on the head.
"Fine," Gokudera-kun snorted as he rubbed his head.
"Now where was I?...Oh, right.. ..When I was a kid, I used to hate the piano but it all changed one day when I accidentally heard HER amazing piano playing in a little shop..I didn't know what she was doing there but I felt that was.. What do you call it? Uhhh.."
"Fate?"
"Yeah, that's the word. And ever since that day she inspired me to play the piano that I once hated …. A Few years later I overheard the news that Lavina gave birth to a boy….A boy that almost looked like her but the both of them were separated.. " I paused, glancing at Gokudera-kun. He was frowning.
"And after that, she stopped playing the piano…. And 'disappeared' ... Heh... I have to admit, I was devastated when I heard that she couldn't play anymore.. And was more devastated when the rumours said that she died on a car accident," The Italian grunted.
" At first, I prayed all day and night that it wasn't real but reality is cruel isn't it?… Also, it sounds funny but ever since her death, I often go to her grave, leave some flowers behind and pray for her." I finished, smiling sadly.
"So you were the one who left those flowers on my mother's grave." Gokudera-kun murmured as his very deep frown turned into a small smile. "Thank you.."
I looked at him and waved my index finger, "You're welcome and…I'm not finish yet….Before her death I…Actually, met Lavina, herself…" The silvernette looked at me wide eyed as I chuckled.
"Yeah I know...My whole day lit up and I was very happy to meet her, my idol in person. I mean who won't be? And well we talked all day long but.. you know what Gokudera-kun? All the things she talked about were all about you. Everything. She even told me how cute you were and how you would play the piano very well…..And actually she left something…..For you," I said, reaching for my pocket.
"What?"
"She left a letter just for you Gokudera-kun." I repeated as I handed the letter to him.
"Wh-why do you have this?" He asked in disbelief, his voice cracking.
"Well..After our chat, she suddenly gave me that letter and told me to give it to you someday… And truth be told, the first time I met you..I was really shocked..You really resemble her a lot and I met her precious son..Her one and only son…..And after meeting you, I began carrying this letter everywhere because I know, someday, somehow, there will come a time where I will be able to give it to you..So here." I smiled at him, handing him his mother's letter.
Gokudera-kun slowly reached out his hand and reached for the letter "Th-thank you." He muttered with a hint of happiness behind it.
"Oh and Gokudera."
"Huh?"
"Don't believe what others tell you. Be yourself. The real you is you and nobody can ever change that. I believe in you.. And so does everyone else... No matter what happens, I will support you.. In your life and to be Tsuna's right-hand man, okay?" I said, patting his head gently.
He..pouted? "Hayato." He said.
"What?"
"Call me Hayato." He said while blushing, avoiding eye contact. I blinked.
"No. I refuse." I deadpanned.
This caught Gokudera-kun off-guard, "What?!" He exclaimed.
"Onii-san."
"hu-huh?"
"Can I call you onii-san, instead?"
-Gokudera's POV-
"Can I call you onii-san instead?" Kohana asked as she gave me a smile.
I looked at her flustered as I waved my hands frantically, "W-why?!"
She blinked at me and grasped her chin, "Well I wanted a big brother for a while now…A big brother whom I look up to, my inspiration and...my protector." She finished, closing her eyes as if she was recalling something.
"But were at the same age." I raised an eye brow.
"So what? You're older than me by 3 months." She replied bluntly.
I sighed in defeat and looked away, "Fi..Fine."
"Really? Thank you! Onii-san!" She exclaimed happily as her red eyes glowed slightly, hugging me.
I awkwardly returned her hug as she suddenly sat up, hitting my chin in the process, "Gah!"
"Ah, It's already late..I have to go home now, onii-san! Let's go Mavis!" She said as she pecked me on the cheek. My eyes widened.
"Wa..wait! Let me come with you!" I yelled, scrambling after her.
"Hurry up!" She yelled, already some meters away from me.
-Third Person's POV-
Unknown to the both teens, a certain tutor witnessed the whole thing. Smirking he lowered his fedora.
"It seems you have gained Gokudera's trust, Kohana. Well done."
Well I hoped you enjoy! please leave a review! Have a nice day everyone! Ciao~
