Time For Change Proposals

One Month Later

Batman walked through the juvenile correctional hall. He went into an interrogation room, where he met Robert Jr. sitting in a chair with his head down on the table.

"Why did you want me?" Robert asked, but didn't look up.

"I want answers."

"I don't have to answer to you. I don't have to answer to anyone."

"I'm here to help you."

Robert was silent. His head slowly rose. "Help?"

"Look, you need to tell me why you killed you father!"

"He was a villain that I stopped. He hit me and I hit him back."

"This is no game, kid. You killed someone. Do you understand that? Do you understand how serious this is?"

Robert had no remorse. He smiled. "I am a hero just like you."

"No, you do not suppose to kill."

"Is that why so many good people die because the bad people don't?"

Batman was silent. "We deal with them in a different way. Some people die, it's their time and it's out of our control but for those that we can save we do."

"Then I will be a better hero than all of you! I will change everything!"

Batman couldn't get through to Robert. Whatever the boy had learned from his father and whatever he felt was twisted. He shook his head slightly and glared at him.

"I thought I wanted to be like you. But you are nothing but a scary bat," Robert pouted, sinking down in his chair and folded his arms.

Batman said nothing. He got up and banged on the door to leave out. Once the door opened, he walked out with no intention of coming back or trying to help him.

Robert would live out his childhood lost and then as an adult still lost and confused. Ultimately, his action was premeditated. His father taught him things directly and even indirectly that a child shouldn't. What was there else to do, when a child has seen so much and already has his mind set?

Within the next couple of the days, the league held a press conference. Many people wanted to know whether the media stories of the Alan case were true. They also had to ensure that they would get control of the civil crimes that could possibly escalate and end up like this one.

Hippolyta's encounter

Hippolyta rode her white horse on the shore of Themyscira. She looks out onto the ocean remembering the times she spent with Diana. She knew Diana was very independent, stubborn, and strong minded. Her only child, the joy of her life had gone against her wishes and done what never should have been done. Hippolyta kept her safe, loving her, and trusting in her to do what was right. However, Hippolyta was too stern and adamant on Diana to one day be queen. Maybe that's why they couldn't agree. Why she couldn't understand Diana. And why…

"That's a very beautiful horse."Hippolyta turned around somewhat startled. A young girl hovered slightly off the ground. She had her hair pulled back into a ponytail; she had on a sky blue flare dress, but no shoes, and silver brackets on both her wrists. The resemblance of her and Diana was unbelievable, from the raven black hair to her stance with her hand on her hip. Sounds familiar? Hippolyta wanted to believe that the young girl was an illusion of Diana at a younger age but that would mean the Queen was out of sorts with her mind. Though, she knew instantly that the girl was Amazonian but where did she come from? The girl stepped lightly on the ground.

"Please, Queen Hippolyta, do not worry. She hasn't forgotten you, she loves you."

"Who are you, young Amazon?"

"Who I am is not important right now but I'm here to help you."

"With? And how can you?"

"I know you miss her. She misses you too. In all due respect Queen Hippolyta, you were wrong for trying to keep Diana away from following her heart. You didn't and wouldn't listen to her. She says that her relationship with you is strained and that shouldn't be. Diana has learned so much on her own. You should be proud of her not judging her. You are not at fault doing what any mother would do to protect her child. But you had to let go at some point and you could not shelter her forever. You should start thinking as her mother not her Queen."

Shocked, Hippolyta frowned. "You have a sharp tongue to be a mere child."

"I don't mean anything to be taken harshly. The Gods blessed you with what you desired most of all, a daughter, who has changed the lives of many. She has made a difference in man's world. Of course there will be mishaps but Diana is not a child, she is a grown woman now and can make her own decisions."

"I am sure that might be and I am proud of my daughter but-"

"She deserves a chance to find herself, to find her own happiness. Diana needed to make choices that were right for her. She has made mistakes and will make more. Whatever happens was meant to happen. That will only make her stronger."

"Who has sent you? How do you know my daughter?" Hippolyta asked, staring down at the girl.

"No one sent me."

Queen Hippolyta gave her a strange look. "I will not stand here and be talked to this way! I suggest that you leave."

"I speak the truth."

Hippolyta slowly walked closer to the girl. She stared into her eyes. The girl was so young but she had such a strong voice with what she was saying as if she were much older than she appeared.

"Diana will have a child. A daughter."

"A daughter?" Hippolyta had finally came to a realization.

"Not everything should be revealed at this time. What's important is that Diana needs you, her mother."

Hippolyta was silent still in shock.

The girl bowed. "Do what is best. Goodbye, for now."

The young Amazon did not turn back. Hippolyta watched as she flew away.

Hippolyta's mind was racing after her encounter. It's been a month but strangely, Hippolyta had forgotten about the girl and thought that she was in a debate with her own conscience. She knew that wasn't right. For the first time, she did not know what to do. She could not find an answer.

"My Queen? Princess Diana has arrived accompanied by Kal-El of Krypton."

Hippolyta nodded. "Send Diana in alone."

"Yes."

Entering the room, Diana bowed.

"Diana."

"Mother."

"I am glad that you are here. I need to speak with you about an important matter."

"What is it that bothers you?"

"It has been brought to my attention that you feel we have a strained relationship. As my daughter, I have only tried to protect you."

Diana felt the heat rise to her cheeks. She knew this would come, knew that her mother felt betrayed. But Diana was not ashamed. She did what she felt in her heart. She didn't know what to say, didn't know how to make what her mother thought was going on any better.

"We disagree on things and have to find a common ground."

"You must listen and listen closely. I'm not sure if it was a vision or thought that came to mind."

"What of?" Diana asked with concern in her voice.

She stared into her daughter's eyes, searching for an answer that would make sense of her "vision" and she would find the missing pieces.

"It seems to be very vague now, something is missing but it foretold of you and the choice I must make for the future. I am, the Queen of the Amazons, and have been for countless years. I had hoped to pass my legacy down to you, Diana; but the fates have different plans," she said. "I should have known better than to deprive you of your heart most desired. I have realized there is something more valuable than being Queen and that is being a mother."

"I am happy with where I am in my life. Mother, I want to make you proud I can't do that if you don't give me that opportunity."

"I am proud of you, my daughter."

"Well, mother, you have a very peculiar way of showing it."

Hippolyta gave Diana a curious look. "You brought Kal-El here with you. He is a close acquaintance?"

Silence.

"I trust Kal. Man's World has changed. It's not perfect, but I am happy. I have learned so much from the world and Kal-El. I have taught him things as well."

"I would wish that you would come back home more often. As your mother, I do not want my daughter feeling that she does not have a home."

"My home will always be Themyscira, but my new home is Man's World. One day, I would hope that you would come with me to see that there has been a change."

"Do you love him, Diana?"

The words her mother spoke registered into Diana's mind, and she stared at Hippolyta.

"Yes I do. "

Diana anticipated for her mother to response but before Diana could say another word, Hippolyta engulfed her in an embrace.

Pulling away, Hippolyta smiled. "I remember when you were younger; I am not surprised of your determination and outspokenness. I was the same. I just pray that the Gods will continue to guide you to the right path and I would like to have a word with Kal-El."

Diana nodded slightly and smiled back.

The Amazon guard brought Kal in.

"It is a pleasure to see you again, Kal-El. You are the one my daughter has captured my daughter's heart."

"Queen Hippolyta, I would never let anything happen to Diana. She has captured my heart and I will protect her with my life. I truly do care, respect and adore her." Kal replied and looked at Diana. "I love her."

Hippolyta listened as he spoke; knowing that what he was saying was true. "Kal-El, I believe in your words and I give you my trust." She was amazed at the love connection between them. She had never foreseen this coming, but now she sees just how powerful, how concrete, the bond is.

Diana looked at Kal as he took her hand and held it tightly, wordlessly promising her that he was there with her and that he was never going to leave her.

Four more months had passed. Within these months, scientists who had followed Robert Allen, were losing control of their experiments and it was up to league to handle them. By the time they had captured most of them, there were over fifteen that had done experiments on themselves that went totally wrong, some being barely alive.

One night, running through the trees, Flash and Green Lantern tries to catch the deranged scientist.

"This one is too damn fast!" Green Lantern said flashing his ring light.

Suddenly a cold bitter wind hit them.

"You can't catch me!" A voice came from many directions.

"Flash, Lantern, don't move." Batman advised.

Silence. Broken branches and twigs on the ground cracked.

"Move now! Lantern, light to the left."

The scientist screamed in agony, standing bloody and bruised. Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman now joined Lantern and Flash.

Patrick Gilder. A very smart dedicated man of science, though he let his fascination by poisonous lizards. He wanted to become immune to their venom but it took a turn for the worse. His skin was pale, scaly, and dry. He had eyes, feet, a tail and a tongue of a lizard. He had infected over fifteen civilians taking their blood for a cure.

"We do not want to hurt you. We will try our best to get you back to normal." Superman said slowly floating toward Gilder.

"I found it! My experiment is almost complete! I just need a test subject." Gilder eyed Wonder Woman with a syringe in his hand.

Wonder Woman took hold of her lasso. "I dare you to try."

Gilder took off toward Wonder Woman only to be stop by Superman, who grabbed his tail and slammed him to the ground. The syringe flew out his hand. Flash quickly caught it, handing it to Batman.

Wonder Woman wrapped her lasso around him tightly so he is not able move and Lantern made a cage to hold Gilder in.

"I suggest you hurry with whatever that is, Bats," Flash said.

Batman took out another syringe which held the antidote.

Gilder screamed in agony once more, his experiment was failing and he was dying.

"I wasn't even bothering you and you attacked me!" Gilder said in his loud boisterous voice.

Lantern replied. "What about those other people you made into guinea pigs?"

"They are alive, aren't they?"

"Barely!"

Wonder Woman tightened the grip of her lasso around Gilder to keep him still. "Not another word!"

Batman quickly took the syringe, stabbing it into Gilder's arm. Again he screamed in agony, falling unconscious.

Gilder was the last of the mad scientists. Once he was back as a human and his health was stabilizing, the League had them all locked away in a maximum security Asylum.

The next days would be normal, well as normal as they could get. But there was one more battle that might be everlasting. It is not a battle of good and evil but a battle of balances in the world between those who trusted the league, those who were indecisive, and those who believed the League were out for control.

Diana latched on to Kal's arm as they walked through downtown Metropolis. She saw a little girl, about the age of 5 or 6 run towards her father.

"Look daddy, I got the flowers for mommy."

"Those are perfect. Let's go give it to her." He said as he picked her up.

Diana smiled as a thought ran across her mind.

Kal smiled looking down at her.

"Come on, Diana."

Kal pulled her into a nearby alley. "We have to fly from here."

"Where are you taking me?"

He didn't say anything just smiled.

Taking her hand, they flew to the outskirts of Metropolis. Near small mountains was a big beautiful fully furnished 2 story contemporary house.

Kal flew down to the front door still holding her hand.

He opened the front door and pulled her to come inside with him.

"Kal, who does this house belong to?"

"It's vacant for now. I just want you to look around."

She gave him a questionable look but still followed him into the house.

Upstairs, Diana noticed a room isolated from the rest, most likely the master bedroom. Kal was in another room. Diana smiled, loving the view of the sunset. She turned about to walk out the room, but she noticed on the dressing table was a small velvet box.

Curious, she opened the box and gasped. Inside, a diamond ring. Feeling hands around her waist, she looked up into the mirror. She smiled as Kal took the ring out the box and placed it on her finger.

"It's lovely. A perfect fit." She turned and embraced him tightly.

Pulling away Kal took her hand and got down on one knee.

Diana knew exactly what he was doing. She had watched movies, seen this in person only once, listened to stories and wanted to one day to experience that most precious moment. Now it was that time. It was her moment.

"Diana, will you marry me?"

"Yes!"

Kal kissed her hand, standing up then kissed her passionately. She responded immediately, and put my arms around his neck.

"What was your purpose of bringing me here to propose? The house is beautiful. The scenery is magnificent."

"You really like it?"

Diana nodded.

"I told you that we need a sense of normalcy. And we can have that. That's why this house belongs to us."

"Really? This is ours? You never ceased to amaze me, Kal-El!"

"I love you, Diana."

"I love you, too." Diana caressed his cheek kissing him passionately.

Kal picked her up and carried her over to the bed, placing her gently down.

There would no interruptions. For this time, they were in their own world, and no one else was allowed in.

Never in her life had Diana felt so happy, so loved and cherished. Never in her life had she held so much hope for the future. A future they would spend together.

Kal and Diana knew that the road ahead would be paved with hardships, but they weren't worried. As long as they were together, as long as they had each other, they would always be able to overcome anything and everything. And it felt so wonderful.
