Daisuke Uchiha Chapter Eleven

I don't own Digimon or Naruto

Chapter Eleven: A Lesson Learned

A short while after the final battle with Aoi and Torashinai, Team Seven had returned to the village that they were sent to protect. They all saw the villagers had returned to their village and were already cleaning up the corpses and damage. The man that had talked to the team earlier, before the bandits attacked them, walked over.

"Thank you leaf ninja, without your help our home would have most surely been destroyed," he said, bowing to them all.

"You're welcome. What's going to happen to your village now?" Naruto asked the man curiously, but lacking his usual enthusiasm. The man did not notice, but Kakashi did.

"Looks like they are all still shaken up by the fact that they have just killed several people, and Daisuke looks the worse," Kakashi thought to himself as he looked at Daisuke. She was looking down at the ground and kept glancing at her hands that still had blood on them from when she killed Aoi.

"Will you be staying to aid us with repairing our village?" the man asked Kakashi, breaking him out of his thoughts.

"I am sorry, but our mission was to help you deal with the bandits attacking your village and I believe you can handle repairs yourself, now that no bandits threaten you," Kakashi said to the man who looked at him and he nodded his head with a smile.

"Of course, you need to return to your village. I shouldn't ask you to stay longer than you need to, so may you have a safe journey home." Kakashi nodded his head as he then turned back to his team of Genin.

"Alright you lot, let's all head back to the village," he said, and Naruto and Sasuke nodded their heads while Daisuke just shrugged her shoulders with a blank look on her face. Kakashi nodded back despite his inner thoughts. "Looks like I will have to talk to them on the way back to the village," he thought as Team Seven headed towards the Hidden Leaf Village. After a while the team had stopped in a small clearing. Kakashi was reading his book while Sasuke and Naruto were relaxing under the shade of a tree. Daisuke was away from all three of them as she was curled up with her knees to her chest and her head buried into her legs. Kakashi watched her with a careful gaze and then sighed when he heard a voice call out to him.

"Kakashi-sensei?" the voice asked, and Kakashi looked over to see Naruto looking at him.

"Yes Naruto? What's wrong?" The one-eyed Jonin asked.

"About what happened back when the bandit's attacked that village," Naruto said, and Kakashi nodded.

"Yes. I understand that you might have concerns."

"You know how you said killing was necessary, right?" Naruto asked his sensei.

"I said that, at times, the most prudent action is take the lives of others. However, this is never a decision that should be made lightly," Kakashi said to him.

"Well if it was the right thing to do, then why do I feel so bad about killing those bandits?" Naruto asked Kakashi, who sighed before he nodded his head.

"Well Naruto, to be honest with you, I am glad that you feel bad about killing. Emotions are as powerful a tool at they are a weakness. Many ninja believe that one must supress all emotion in order to be a true shinobi, but it always leaves a hole in them. The strongest shinobi aren't those that suppress their emotions, but those who control them," Kakashi explained as Naruto, Sasuke, and Daisuke looked at him. "Now it is good to fill remorse when you take a life, it is the hardest thing to do for a ninja even for a veteran such as me. The day that you find yourself enjoying your kills is the day you should seriously consider turning in your headband," Kakashi said in all seriousness, and Naruto and Sasuke nodded their heads in understanding.

"Understood sensei," Naruto said.

"Right," Sasuke agreed, and Kakashi nodded his head as he then turned too looked at Daisuke only to see that she wasn't there anymore.

"Daisuke?" he asked, looking around. Sasuke and Naruto looked as well.

"Dai!?" Naruto shouted in shock.

"Where is she?!" Sasuke shouted, and Kakashi looked into the air and closed his eye for a few seconds. He looked down at his two remaining Genin.

"I'll go find her," he said to them. "Both of you stay here, and that is an order," he sternly warned, and Naruto and Sasuke reluctantly nodded their heads, and Kakashi walked away to search for Daisuke. A short ways away, the girl in question had found a stream and put her bloodstained hands in the water. She started to wash the blood of her hands, but it refused to come off easily and Daisuke started to rub harder and faster.

"Come on, wash off," she said as she continued to scrub her hands. She rubbed them so hard that she rubbed them raw, and she yelped in pain as she looked at her hands.

"Pathetic!" a voice called to her, and Daisuke looked down into the water to see her reflection that smirked at her. "Are you crying over a kill, you are such a baby," her reflection sneered at her.

"Shut up!" Daisuke shouted, smacking the water but her reflection returned.

"Can't do that, I am you understand, and you cannot escape the fact you murdered someone," the reflection said as Aoi appeared in the water.

"No! I am not a murderer!" Daisuke screamed.

"Murderer, killer, slaughterer, murderer! Killer! Slaughterer!" Aoi and her reflection taunted.

"I said shut up! FIRE STYLE: FIREBALL JUTSU!" Daisuke shouted jumping into the air. She blew a fireball at the water and evaporated it, causing a cloud of steam and smoke and she panted. "Am I a murderer?" she asked herself, falling to her knees .She sobbed with tears falling to the ground in front of her.

"Daisuke?" a voice called to her, and Daisuke looked around to see Kakashi walk towards her. "Are you alright?" he asked her.

"Yeah I'm…" Daisuke trailed off as she looked at her hands. "No! No I'm not okay, I killed someone I took a life, I am a murderer!" she shouted, sobbing. Kakashi sighed slightly as he walked over to Daisuke who was still sobbing, and he kneeled down beside her. He saw Daisuke's hands.

"Daisuke, your hands," he said to her.

"What about them?" she snapped at her sensei, glaring at him before she stopped, realising what she did. "Sorry," she apologised, and Kakashi smiled slightly.

"It's okay, and I heard your 'conversation'," he said, and Daisuke blushed in embarrassment and looked away from him. "Daisuke you are not a bad person," Kakashi told her.

"Yes I am, I killed somebody. How can I not be bad?" she asked him.

"Do you think Naruto is a bad person? How about Sasuke, or even me?"

"No!" she shouted. "No, you're a lot stronger than me."

"I don't know about stronger," Kakashi mused aloud, "but everyone on the team has more blood on their hands than you. Killing is a terrible act, but doing so, especially for the right reasons, doesn't make you a terrible person. Yes you're a murderer, along with literally every shinobi who made it past Genin. You fought in self-defence, and Aoi was scum. He was a rouge ninja that would not have hesitated in killing you. Or even worse, he could capture you and sell you to the highest bidder. Tell me Daisuke, if you could turn back time, would you still kill Aoi to save your friends?" Kakashi asked her.

"Yes I would, but only to save Naruto and Sasuke. Nothing else," she replied to Kakashi, who nodded his head before he reached into his back pouch and he took out some bandages. He then gently took Daisuke's hands and he wrapped them up in the bandages. Daisuke gave him a smile and Kakashi nodded his head.

"Then don't kill them because you want to. Kill only when it is necessary to protect. Killing those bandits from earlier was necessary to protect the village. Killing Aoi was necessary to protect your teammates. As long as you keep that in mind, you will remain a good person. Are you okay now?" he asked her.

"Yes sensei, sorry I acted like that," Daisuke apologised.

"It's fine. Now, if you have any more problems you can tell me or your teammates. Come on, I think it is time we headed home," Kakashi said, and Daisuke smiled slightly at her sensei. They both walked towards the clearing where Sasuke and Naruto were busy relaxing. Her teammates saw the mahogany-haired girl and they both smiled at her.

"Hey Dai, are you alright?" Naruto asked his friend.

"Yeah, I am now Naruto."

"That's good, I'd hate to be stuck with a fan girl as your replacement," Sasuke said with a teasing smirk.

"Replace me? Never," she retorted with a smile on her face.

"Alright you three, I believe it is time to head back towards the village, don't you think?" Kakashi asked his three Genin who nodded their heads at their sensei. He nodded back at them and they all set off towards the Hidden Leaf Village. A few days later, they were in the Hokage's office and Kakashi handed in their report and once he was done the Sarutobi puffed his pipe.

"So let me get this straight to make sure that I have not misunderstood. You arrived at the village you were sent to, and then, to make things more complicated, the bandits attacked the village, led by two rogue ninja from our own village I might add. Aoi Rokushō and Torashinai the White Tiger? I trust you handled them both Kakashi," Sarutobi said to the one eyes Jonin.

"Actually sir, I fought and killed Torashinai. Then when I found my team, Naruto and Sasuke were incapacitated and Daisuke had killed Aoi," Kakashi informed the Hokage, who looked at him then at Daisuke who avoided his gaze slightly.

"I see. Naruto, Sasuke, would you and your sensei leave for a moment?" the Hokage asked, and Naruto was about to protest before Sasuke elbowed him slightly. Naruto glared at, but the Uchiha starred back with a look that said 'not now' to Naruto, and he frowned before sighing in defeat and the three of them left the office, leaving the Hokage and Daisuke alone. "I trust Kakashi has talked to you about your first kill?" he asked Daisuke, who nodded her head and the Hokage nodded back to her, taking a puff of his pipe. "Would seeing a counsellor help you?" he asked Daisuke.

"No, I will be fine Lord Hokage," Daisuke said, and the old man nodded his head.

"Very well, you may leave now." Daisuke nodded her head and left the office. The Hokage puffed his pipe several times before he looked at the ceiling and he blew out smoke.

"It always saddens me to watch children her age have to kill. Such is the shinobi way; she will have to kill sooner or later, and it might as well be sooner when she has her team and Jonin to look after her." One week soon passed, and Team Seven had done several more missions including one more C-Rank mission. It was another bandit mission and all members of Team Seven had to kill a few more bandits, but they all managed to cope with it this time. Now they were meeting at their usual place, waiting for Kakashi to arrive.

"Where is he?" Naruto asked his team in frustration.

"How should I know, he is always late anyways," Sasuke said.

"He isn't that late," Daisuke said, and both Sasuke and Naruto looked at her. She chuckled slightly and sweatdropped, "Okay, he is late," she relented and both Sasuke and Naruto nodded their heads in agreement. As if on cue, Kakashi appeared in front of the team in a puff of smoke.

"Hey there sorry I am late, a black cat crossed my path."

"Sure it did, was there a real reason why you were late today sensei?" Daisuke asked him, and he nodded his head. He then took out three pieces of paper and handed them to the three Genin who all took them. They read the paper before their eyes went wide in shock. "Wait a second, these papers are admission forms for the Chunin Exams!" Daisuke exclaimed in shock, and Kakashi nodded his head.

"That's right, I feel that you guys are ready for the exam to see if you are capable of being promoted to Chunin," he said with an eye smile, and Sasuke and Naruto smiled slightly while Daisuke just nodded her head. "If you three want to join, sign the paper and meet at the academy in three days' time. Later," Kakashi said as he vanished in a puff of smoke, leaving the three Genin alone.

"The Chunin exams, awesome!" Naruto cheered loudly, and he jumped up in excitement.

"Calm down dobe," Sasuke said as Naruto glared at him. "Save it for the exams."

"Alright then, what about you Daisuke, are you ready for the exams?" Naruto asked his friend, who looked at him and she smiled slightly.

"Sure I am, but I am nervous about it," she answered.

"Don't worry about that, me and Sasuke won't let anyone hurt you," Naruto said to her with a smile.

"He is right you know Daisuke, no one will hurt my family when I am around," Sasuke added, and Daisuke smiled at him and Naruto.

"Thanks you guys," she said as she hugged them both. She also pecked them both on the cheek and they blushed slightly.

"Hey, don't let Kiba see you do that," Naruto said, and Daisuke giggled slightly.

"Right, sorry about that," she said.

"No worries, so are we all signing up?" Naruto asked his team.

"Oh yeah, I'm in," Daisuke said, and Sasuke nodded his head as well.

"Same here."

"Let's do this," Naruto cheered.

"Yeah!" both Sasuke and Daisuke shouted in unison.
