Hey all! So sorry it's been so long! I have a few more chapters lined up and nearly ready to publish, so those will come out within the next few days I hope!
Thank you all so much for reading and commenting. It honestly makes my day!
I am beta-less so all mistakes are mine (and probably because I don't revise my stuff very well... I'm working on it)
This one is a bit short, but I hope you enjoyyyy.
"Sam should have been back by now," Dean paced nervously in the doorway of Brennan's office. Sam had taken Hodgins around the facility to finish up the warding while Dean and Booth watched out for demons from Brennan's office.
"This is a big facility," Booth explained reassuringly. "A lot bigger than you might think. I'm sure your brother and Hodgins are fine. They're just being doubly cautious about what they're warding."
Dean huffed, uneasy. There was a sinking feeling in the pit of his stomach. With Alistair leading these demons, they would all have to be on their "A" game. Unfortunately none of these people, except Sammy, were even close to being who he'd choose for an A-team.
Unable to contain his impatience any longer, Dean took off out of Brennan's office.
"Woah, where are you going?" Booth called out after Dean.
"They've been gone for too long, I'm just gonna go check on them," Dean explained through gritted teeth, he didn't like having to explain himself.
"What about us? We need someone here who can handle themselves against a demon," Booth urged.
Dean motioned to the warding and salt lines all around the lab. "You are more than well protected in here. If something came that could get past that, I would be no help to you anyway."
It was meant to be explanatory and reassuring, but the color drained from Booth's face reminding Dean that he sucked at reassuring people. Turning away, Dean headed out into the lab. Booth didn't follow.
A deafening crash drew Booth and the rest of the group out of the office. Booth held out his hand, making the rest of the group come to a stop before they fully stepped out into the open lab.
"What are you doing, Booth?" Angela asked, concern tightening her voice.
"The entrance to the lab is blocked off," Booth noted. Pointing to the debris and shattered glass sealing the main entrance to the lab. "That was purposeful, something's going on."
"We should find Hodgins and the Winchesters," Brennan suggested. "If the demons are about to do something, we should all be together."
Booth nodded. Pointing to the hallways shooting off of the main lab, Booth commanded, "Check those hallways and see if you see them. Don't go past the salt lines, just glance down and see if you can make out if they are within eyesight."
The rest of the group nodded and split off, each taking a respective hallway to check out. Each would find that the entrance, or exit, to the lab from those hallways had been sealed by collapsed debris as well.
Brennan took a step into the hallway, just before coming to the salt line and tried to make out anything in the dark and dusty hallway. The dust stung her eyes and made it difficult to see anything. The one thing she could for sure make out was Sam lying on the ground. It appeared that he had thrown himself backwards to avoid the falling debris. Coughing the dirt out of his lungs, he slowly got to his feet.
"I found Sam!" Brennan cried out to the rest of the group as she ran towards him over the salt line. "What happened?" Brennan asked helping Sam steady himself on his feet.
Angela was the first to make it to the hallway, followed closely by Cam and Booth. They all echoed Brennan's question.
"There were demons, and I was keeping them off Jack when Dean came and helped me fend them off. We killed one, but before we got the other he pulled down half of the hallway on top of us," Sam explained quickly, turning towards the rubble.
"Hodgins! Jack! JACK!" Angela cried out. She threw herself on the rubble and tried to move a massive piece of concrete out of the way. It wouldn't budge.
"Dean?" Sam called through the rubble, desperately hoping to hear his brother's voice.
There was a cough and muffled cursing before a strong voice answered back. "Yeah, Sammy? We're okay! Are you?"
Hodgins' voice answered as well, "Angela!"
Angela sighed deeply when she heard her husband's voice. She turned and grabbed Sam's arm comforting both him and herself that their loved ones were okay.
Sam heaved a sigh of relief. "Yeah, we're good! Can you see a way to get around or back through?"
"No, it's completely blocked off," Hodgins voice answered.
"Is there any way for them to get back here?" Sam turned and asked Brennan who was shaking dust out of her hair. She coughed a few times before responding.
"No, I think the demons have isolated us in this part of the facility. That hallway is the only way in or out,"
"What do you mean isolated us?" Sam asked, confused.
"This wasn't the only collapse
"Of course it is," Sam huffed in frustration.
Angela begins to laugh nervously.
"Angela?"
"I'm sorry, I just realized," she said as she motioned to the hallway lined with countless illuminated boxes filled with the bones of unidentified and unidentifiable people. "We're stuck in Limbo."
Brennan followed Angela's gesture, the irony was not lost on her, but she didn't find the humor in it.
Booth hung his head and gave a tired scoff.
Sam, missing the joke and wholly uninterested in figuring it out, turned back towards the rubble, "Dean can you still hear me?"
"Yeah!" Came Dean's disembodied voice.
"Y'all need to go to Pamela's, find Bobby," Sam called out, hoping Dean would hear him.
Sam heard more cursing before Dean replied. "I'm not gonna leave you with these demons, Sam!"
"And what are you going to do to help us out there, Dean?" Sam explained pragmatically. "You and Hodgins go. We'll hold the demons off here."
Sam could hear Dean cursing through the rubble. He knew that Dean would assent to his plan, so he listened expectantly for Dean's voice to come back.
"You look after those people, Sam! And be careful!" Dean called.
"Be careful Dean! Don't be stupid," Sam sighed and turned to Booth. "What am I saying, of course he's going to do something stupid."
A/N: Dean is finally going to see Bobby yaaaayyy! [also I could not for the life of me figure out how to fit Pamela and the seance into this fic since I'm trying to stay true to the plot of that episode as much as I can while throwing in the Bones world... I hope it works out! (Stay tuuuned!)
-Much love, Mal
