Chapter 11: How his majesty copes (part 2)
Disclaimer: I'm too poor to own anything :(
((Sesshomaru POV))
Sesshomaru sat down onto his bed, questioning what his father had said. "Well son I had hoped you would, for me at least." Those words could have plenty of meanings but Sesshomaru decided to believe that what his father spoke of was his love for him traveling onto Inuyasha, If not for Inuyasha but for taisho. Sesshomaru shook his head before he sat up from his bed and he switched from his 'no clothes' state into his formal royal clothing. After, he was done properly preparing himself to be presentable in public; Sesshomaru walked up to his room door and exited. The two guards who normally stood guard by Sesshomaru's bedding chambers bowed before one of the guards, a red headed fox demon from Spain, named Francisco looked at him with a questioning gaze.
"Lord Sesshomaru, you dressed yourself. I wouldn't have even noticed if it wasn't for the lack of maids present." He said his Spaniard accent evident in his speech. Sesshomaru looked at him before he gave him a small nod of acknowledgement before he replied.
"Yes I did. I did not have the patients today to wait for their arrival, I had important things to do." Francisco nodded before he went back in a guard position.
"We will patiently await your return, your highness." He said formally as Sesshomaru began to walk away. Sesshomaru continued to make his way to his destination, forte's fortress.
Sesshomaru walked through his hallways being greeted by all his servants with a bow before he made his way to forte and katsumi's room. Three knocks resonated through the hallway to the door of the twins before the door opened.
"Lord Sesshomaru," forte said as he realized it was him. "I didn't know you were coming. Come in." forte said moving to the side to let Sesshomaru in. luckily this time when Sesshomaru entered the room it wasn't a mess. It was neat and tidy like Sesshomaru was used to seeing; the desk at the back of the room was actually seen, unlike before, and the paper were all in a neat stack and the books were all on the shelve except for one opened on the desk. There was a mini table on the side which held beverages and a little bit of snacks.
"It is okay," Sesshomaru said. "I did arrive unannounced." Sesshomaru looked at the room contently before he nodded his head towards the sound proof room. When forte realized the gesture he nodded his head and walked into the room. His previous joyful features became more serious as did the mood between the two.
"My lord, what is it that brought you to me? Is it your father?" forte asked, his accuracy never ceasing to amaze Sesshomaru. Sesshomaru gave forte a small nod before the healer sat down a chair that was new and clean, most likely to replace the batter chair he had seen last time. "What is it that happened, my lord?" he questioned gesturing at another new chair that had not been there before too. Sesshomaru sat down on the seat before he looked at forte who gave him complete attention.
"My father spoke to me." Sesshomaru replied looking at his healer.
"About what?" Sesshomaru placed his hands on his lap before he looked at forte with a steady glare. The healer gulped slightly and Sesshomaru saw little drops of sweat fall down his temples as he looked down at his foot. The fear pleased him, if only for a second, but it pleased him. Feeling less angered, because of forte's submission, Sesshomaru calmed himself before he spoke the words deadly quiet.
"My father spoke to me about my relationship with Inuyasha." Forte eyebrows furrowed before he gestured for Sesshomaru to elaborate even more. Feeling slightly annoyed Sesshomaru sighed as he continued to…elaborate. "He spoke about how he wished me and Inuyasha would get along. As I'm sure you already know I was not fond of my father's decision to mate with the human, nor to have the half breed. Thus this caused me to not be fond of the hanyou too." Forte nodded with more understanding of the situation. Forte seemed to contemplate what Sesshomaru said before his eyes widen slightly.
"Lord Sesshomaru," forte said as though he had an epiphany. "What were you doing when you had seen you father?" Sesshomaru eye brows furrowed wondering how this question per pertained to the problem at hand. He considered questioning it but instead decided on just trusting his healer and answering the question, after all forte had never been wrong before.
"I was in my bedroom resting." The excitement drained from forte's features before he asked a different question.
"What were you doing when the late lord Inutaisho appeared the first time?" he asked though the certainty in his voice seemed as though it was slowly draining. By now Sesshomaru was really curious as to what it was that forte seemed to think the situation was. Though the healer seemed to be losing confidence his concentration did not falter.
"I was in a… spar with the half breed." Sesshomaru replied taking a little long to form the words for their fight. At this forte's assurance seemed to boost from the answer before his next words shocked Sesshomaru.
"Did something happen to Inuyasha before the second time he appeared." Sesshomaru blinked as the realization of what forte was implying hit him. Sesshomaru's shocked must have shown on his feature because forte seemed to have known the answer. "What happened?" he asked, though Sesshomaru felt less than willing to answer. He had been trying to take the whole thing out of his mind but he couldn't. Everything he felt, everything he saw, everything that was going on always reeled its ugly head back around to that…that. Sesshomaru couldn't say it, he didn't want to. Though Sesshomaru fully understood that he needed to in order to fully understand the extent of what was going on. One of forte's eyebrows rose in question of his long response before he mentally shook himself and spoke.
"Inuyasha, my brother, Inuyasha is dead." Sesshomaru said it coldly. He didn't want to feel the words, so he said it coldly hoping he wouldn't. But he did and it angered him. Forte's eyes widen in shock before he put a hand over his mouth and looked down.
"How could you let that happen?" Sesshomaru was shocked by the sudden question and wasn't sure how to reply. Forte did not even know what happened so why did it feel like he was blaming him. "How could you let that happen!" forte yelled instead of asked as he stood up from his seat. The sudden outburst caused Sesshomaru to stand as well.
"How could I let what happen? That ignorant half breed is not my responsibility." Sesshomaru said in a low threatening voice. Anger lacing out on each word. Forte's eyes widen incredulously at Sesshomaru words.
"That stupid half breed is not your responsibility?-…" before forte could continue Sesshomaru cut him off.
"Do NOT defend him, forte. He is the reason my father is dead." Sesshomaru's voice was grim and forte, with tears coming down his face, did not seem as though the comment had calmed down.
"No lord Sesshomaru, Inutaisho did not die because of Inuyasha. Inutaisho knew exactly what he was doing that day when he gave his life for your brother. He knew he wouldn't live. He was counting on you! He was expecting YOU to protect your younger brother, to keep Inuyasha safe while he was gone. No wonder he came back… it's because you were to bratty and selfish to stop thinking everything was about you and realize that you abandon Inuyasha. That you ruined him, you took away everything he could have been and made him what you saw him as, a filthy half breed bastard. You took it all away and now he has nothing. And now he's dead. And it's all your fault." As forte ended the shouting and anger dissipated from his voice and his tone became drowned in sadness. Sesshomaru had sat back down as the words that forte had said dawned on him. He had never realized that was what he had done to Inuyasha until forte mentioned it. He wanted Inuyasha to be what he had seen him as, a filthy half breed bastard. This time Sesshomaru hands came up to cover his mouth and Sesshomaru looked down. He hadn't realized how he had been to his little brother until now. He didn't even know how Inuyasha had lived before he met the group of humans. What he did to...survive? Before Sesshomaru knew it tears began to fall down his cheeks as he finally understood. All Sesshomaru's father ever wanted was to bring them together. Sesshomaru had spent his entire life rejecting the thing that his father died trying to protect and hoping would be saved.
Forte became silent as he slowly realized that the demon lord was crying. He wanted to say something but as he was about he realized something. This was needed, in order for Sesshomaru to fully understand. Taking in that thought forte turned and walked out of the soundproof room and left his working chambers.
