Chapter 11: Is this Heaven

"Don't fuck with me," Grimmjow growled, grabbing Tetsuya by the wrists and forcing him back against a wall, "I know you're not a guard. You've been watching him...trying to get close to him. You could have escaped if you hadn't been fool enough to come out of hiding. Tell me, was healing him more important to you than living? Because even though you saved his life, you're gonna die now."

Grimmjow froze at the lack of fear in the younger man's wide, sapphire eyes. He wondered if this intruder knew he had seen him out of the corner of his eye, more then once, but what he could not figure out was why the young man did not seem afraid.

"Is not true love reason enough to yield one's life?" Tetsuya whispered, swallowing hard as Grimmjow deprived him of the guard's helm and took in his true features.

"Holy fucking hell..." the blue-haired man breathed, staring at the other man's large, blue eyes, comely face and fine, wavy black hair and sinfully soft, pale skin, "Did you say you are in love...with him?"

"W-with Uryu?" Tetsuya said breathlessly, "No. But my cousin is in love with him. And I have given my word to Byakuya-sama, that I will watch over and protect him."

"Huh, and what does your lover think of that, eh?" the blue-haired man asked, tightening his hold on Tetsuya, "How does she...or he feel about you throwing away your life so cheaply?"

Tetsuya hesitated for a moment, gazing back into Grimmjow's ice-blue eyes. He had moved them so they were away from Uryu who already looked better "stay still he wispered quietly" warning the sick man to be still so no one noticed he was doing better. He could tell that Uryu was haveing a dream he wished he could do more to asure the young man that it was going to be ok.

Tetsuya noticed Sado had arived so he knew that he would care for his cousin's beloved, so he stealed himself for the fate that awaited him after this next answer.

Uryu's body was really starting to respond to the medication Tetsyua had administered to him, it allowed his mind to realx enough to slips into a dream state.

Uryu had learned a long time before that living was rife with varying amounts and types of pain. As such, one who wanted to get by without being overwhelmed must gain a goodly amount of power over his mind. He sank down into oblivion, trying to spin his mind fast enough that he wouldn't feel the pounding throb in his damaged wrist and hand. He was rewarded, soon enough for his efforts with shivers that warned of an oncoming fever. He had only enough presence of mind to prey silently that it was not an infection that would make it necessary to remove his hand altogether, then he tumbled into a peaceful and painless abyss.

He did not know that Tetsuya had saved him from that fate and he would have both of his hands for as long as he remained alive.

*Uryu's Dream*

He wandered aimlessly, knowing that he longed to go home, but unable to visualize the place or the people. Only one face seemed familiar to him, a calm, soulful one borne by a pale fleshed man with large gray eyes and a soft, but commanding voice. And whether touched by that somber voice or by the slender, graceful hands, Uryu felt the connection between them to the farthest depths of his soul.

"Bya-kuya," he mumbled dazedly, not knowing if he had really spoken the name aloud. But in dream, unlike in his tattered reality, here, Byakuya answered his call, appearing dressed in flowing white that shouldn't have looked so pleasant set against such pale skin, but somehow only illuminated him, making him seem more dreamlike, to the point of being angelic.

And gone, too, were all of the silly things that held him back, the sound seeming excuses that had driven them apart, the differences in stature and the lascivious and treacherous nature of the king.

Uryu groaned as the thought of the monarch threatened to derail what was becoming a deeply pleasant departure. He wondered if he might be dying, then he was sure he must have already passed over into the afterlife as Byakuya smiled at him and tentatively sought his lips.

And unlike real life, Uryu was able to forget everything that stood between them and he could kiss those soft, solemn lips until they couldn't stop smiling at him. Byakuya's arms wrapped around him, and he scented the crisply starched cloth. He buried his face in the lovely, clean fabric, forgetting for a moment, the truth of his dark, dank environs and embracing goodness, decency and cleanliness. Byakuya laughed softly and coaxed him into another long, warm kiss, then laid him on his back and opened his clothing.

Somewhere in the back of Uryu's mind he slipped from the dream, but he could not tell if it really happened or if it was just part of the felt cool hands touch his face and heard a hushed voice warn him not to speak. He rose out of his reverie just enough to recognize the shadowy figure as someone close to Byakuya. It was over to fast to tell before he faded back into the dream.

Have I been rescued then?

But he was falling too quickly to know. Byakuya's lovely form reappeared, and this time Uryu greeted him with welcoming arms. He let himself be undressed and touched all over, caressed and coaxed into rubbing his body against that other. He sucked hungrily at Byakuya's mouth, moaning and thrashing as the other man laid on top of him, pausing to carefully prepare him, before joining their bodies in a slow, deliberate dance.

He wanted to stay there forever, even if that meant never waking.

Because here, there is no space between us. We are just two men who love each other.

He paused, reeling at the thought.

We...love each other...

He fell deeply into Byakuya's dark eyes, sinking down into senselessness as the fever in his body burned scathingly.

I love you...Byakuya.

I wish I could have told you before dying.

*End Dream*

"I have no lover," he managed finally, "I have never been anyone's lover. I am a..."

He broke off as the cell door opened and the king entered, surrounded by several guards. The group skidded to a halt and the guards drew their weapons as the king's eyes met Tetsuya's widened ones, then flicked to meet Grimmjow's. A wicked laugh welled up from deep in his chest as he waved off the other guards and moved closer.

"Ah, Grimmjow," the king purred happily, "you have outdone yourself!"

He moved forward, glaring into Tetsuya's defiant eyes and caught him by the front of his cloak.

"Filthy little half-blood!" the king snapped, pushing Tetsuya back against the wall and bringing his face close to the younger man's, "I see you haven't changed in your devotion to that poor excuse for a cousin of ours, nor have you ceased to involve yourself in his treachery! But...you and Byakuya will not get away with this!"

"Byakuya had nothing to..."

Tetsuya cried out and collapsed onto his knees and the king's fist connected with his midsection.

"LIAR! He sent you here to check on Uryu. It's just what he would do, isn't it? He's plotting against me and you...you know all about it, don't you? Well, now you are going to tell me everything our bastard cousin is plotting!"

"I don't know..."

Tetsuya screamed as the king's foot struck him in the face, throwing him back against the wall and driving him the rest of the way onto the floor.

"Grimmjow," the king said tersely, "Take him down to the interrogation chambers."

He bent slightly, his eyes meeting Tetsuya's triumphantly.

"You are going to tell me what Byakuya is planning," he hissed venemously, "and then, I am going to have the both of you publicly executed in as foul and painful a way as I can think of! You are going to be very, very sorry you came here, half-blood!"

An icy feeling of sickness in his belly, Grimmjow bent and dragged Tetsuya back onto his feet. The younger man leaned heavily against him and Grimmjow felt an odd catch in his chest at the touch of those soft, slender hands.

"Don't try anything stupid," the blue-haired man warned Tetsuya.

He half-led, half-dragged the injured man out of the room and turned him in the direction of the interrogation chambers.

Chad watched the king leave he was now absolutely certain that Yumichika was loseing his mind after the beating he gave Tetsyua just for being associated with Byakuya. He was upset about the young man being brought to be tortured and he would have to tell Toshiro to let the lord know about his cousins current state.

But right now he was more concerned with the Sastre he heard him mumble the part about death out loud he smiled holding the boy in his lap "you are not dead yet Sastre" he said useing the calm voice he often had to bring Uryu back into the world of the living. This was getting dangerous to say the least Uryu would not last much long and who knew what the king was going to do to Tetsuya.

Chad lifted Uryu up into his bed laying with the young man to keep him warm as his fever broke, he could already tell that the medication was working well luckily he had brought some extra things with him that would help to give the Sastre back his health as well as strength.
