I'm gonna try to finish this up in the next few chapters since it's getting rather lengthy :)
Hop skip and a jump away from an interstellar battle for the sun and the fate of planet Earth!
Ch.11
John nudged his nose so close to the glass on the pane that his nose smashed up against it leaving a grease mark. A wave of lightheadedness washed over him as his entire body felt weightless. His feet left the ground even. Blue eyes darted around the room, in the darkness, and saw nothing at all. Johns' arms began to flail about and his legs kicked frantically. He was being extracted from his hiding place and Karkat...and Karkat that coward was fretting under the bed where no one could see.
A pang of anger flared up in his chest as he watched his pet grow smaller and smaller as he was taken up into the ship. His fleshy body phased through the roof of his room, his eyes still glued to Karkat who was still unmoving on the floor.
"Karkat!" He yelled, but still nothing. "Karkat…"
John was whisked away by the tractor beam through the night sky. His breath was so ragged he thought he was going to have a heart attack half way up. He never imagined that this would be happening to him. None of it, a pet from another world, him about to be imprisoned on an alien spaceship, what the hell! This was just not his week.
"John…!" He heard when he was a little over halfway to the mother ship. He stared down at Karkat in his human form slipping on his shirt. He held out an arm as if to grab his pet up to where he was.
Karkat jumped from the floorboards of the bedroom. He was trying to get into the tractor beam. If he didn't hurry, then it would surely cut out on him when we got to about where John was at that moment and plummet to his death. If only he was like Tavros, then he could just fly up there and be done with it. Or Vriska with her mind control. That power would be helpful too…
Karkat made one final lung into the air and the beam caught hold of his body. Due to his lighter nature, as in he weighed less, his accent was much quicker and he soon caught up to John. They were both nearly in the hull by now.
"What the hell is going on here?" He fumed to his alien counterpart.
Karkat attempted a shrug in zero gravity. It didn't work. He had to settle for a verbal explanation instead. "They're taking us fuckface, what do you think is going the hell on?"
John mentally slapped his self. "Well, I can get that much!"
The beam made an undulation shifting the boys around a bit. Karkat grabbed for Johns' arm possessively as they turned and bounced in mid air. A flush spread over the human's checks at the gesture.
"They're going to kill us John, kill us from extinction, from the face of the Earth, we'll be nothing but fucking dust Egbert!
"Just calm down. And stop grabbing at me!"
He shoved the alien away as best as he could in no gravity. The tractor beam had them nearly to the end of the line. The ominous feel of the foreign spacecraft made John's spine quiver, but he had to stay strong. He had no clue how to stop the fleet, but God damn he was going to try like hell!
"They're pulling us the fuck in, John!"
"I know, I know! Let me try something."
John began to bring Karkat into his body one tug at a time. The grey face began to flush with each tug on his dark, lumpy sweater. Before long, the two were one. The human moved his hips side to side forcing the two to swing back and forth. Since the beam was about to cut out, the strength had dwindled down to nearly nothing. With a few feet from the base of the hanger they were pulled into, John led the fall as they were flung from the beam and landed somewhere off in the warm hanger.
"Why is everything so wa-?"
Karkat was snuggling into his sweater, his feline persona tacking over his actions.
"Never mind, you seem...preoccupied..."
"Sorry..."
John shook his head and attempted to stand up, but Karkat yanked him back down in a sitting position. A guard, he presumed, walked by looking for them no doubt. There had to be away to get out of the hanger and up to the main cockpit without being jumped by the guards.
"Fine!"
The two waited for the guard to storm off in another direction looking for them. John jumped to his feet and grabbed onto Karkats' sweater as he did so, pulling him along for the brisk run through a random spaceship full of things that wanted to kill them.
Before long, they arrived at a three tire hallway. A walkway going straight ahead, one going up, and another heading downwards. John knew that down was not the way to go and if they kept going straight they would never find the flight deck or the cockpit or where ever this evil she-witch was hiding. So, he opted for up and started jogging again. Another ten minutes of the nonstop movement had the alien of the duo gasping for breath. He tugged his arm back to get his counterparts attention.
"We have to stop for a moment." He wheezed.
"We have to stop your Overlord from stealing MY sun, Karkat! We don't have time to caught our breath."
"But you have no clue even how to stop her..."
"Blow the ship to pieces, then how can she take anything, all her precious gadgets would be ca-bluwee" He put his hands on his hips in pride of his well thought-out plan.
Karkat sat quietly, almost seeming to be genuinely concerned about something. John wanted to brush off his sudden befallen mood. He wasn't screaming or even cursing and that was somewhat of a trademark that John had pegged Karkat with moments after they had meet. The dark eyes were swirling with thought, and not just about the danger of taking down the one thing that single handedly overthrew their entire civilization. It was about earlier.
"What is your problem, dude serious? If we take her down then there's no more evil Overlord for you to deal with!" He threw up his hands as if to make clear the outcome of winning this fight. "All her evilly doings will crumble and your world will go back the way it was and you can go home happy...or angry.. whichever, I don't really care-"
"I don't want to go the fuck home, dumbfuck I want to stay here with you!" Then Karkat covered his mouth.
John blinked... "Why...?"
"Because!...I have my own damn reasons. Now are we going to kill this bitch or what?"
Karkat was on his feet in seconds, now pulling John by the sleeve down a corridor. But John was persistent in the fight for answers. "No, I wanna know!" He pulled his arm back. Karkat didn't stop.
"No!"
They both were more or less speed-walking and they were doing it right down the main hallway towards the main cabin of the spacecraft bickering all the way.
"You so mean and nasty to me for like the whole time you've been here and then you get all nice and sentimental on me! Of course I'm gonna wonder what the hell is going on! What did you do to me when you zapped us to the mall 'cuz that's when you started acting funny!"
"I have never acted funny since I have been here!"
"You stalked me!"
"That's because you were some random ass toothybeast person and you hurt my fragile feline feelings!"
"Toothybeast... Did you just call me a beaver?!" John spat at the insult.
"What the fucking hells a beaver...?"
"Arrggg!" John took a flying swing at the other boy, and missed terribly. Karkat was faster and more slick in combat than the human.
With the dodge, Karkat backed into a metal door with aloud pang. John swung once more, hit the door, and yelped out in pain for his thumping knuckles.
"Just tell me and we can skip all this crap!"
"Why should I!"
He didn't think when he spat it out. He didn't think of how loud he was either. "Because you're my boyfriend, remember!"
Karkat froze mid lung at the black-haired boy. "Just because I am your equal doesn't mean that you are instantly qualified to hear my personal opinions about things."
"Personal opinions, Karkat, really. This is all about your feelings..." John shook his head and began to walk up the hallway towards a now booming sound.
Karkat was left behind, standing lost and alone. That ass. He wanted to know, then when he had the gist of it he left. Typical. He wouldn't have expected someone as singular as a human being to understand. To even understand why he picked him in the first place. Karkat thought that It was meant to be but, John had other plans.
Karkat muttered when he thought that John was far enough away. "Why do I have to be so fucking flushed for you...John..."
