I apologize for the delay in updates to any of my stories, most sincerely and especially to all those waiting for me to update this one specifically. I have been rather busy as of late and I have not had a chance to get to any of my fan fictions until now.

Anywho I hope the wait was worth it in the end. More to come hopefully sooner rather than later. Insha'Allah I will have all of my fan fictions updated before the end of the year.

There was a long drawn out silence between the two after Charley told him. Jerry didn't quite know how to respond to this. He'd had his suspicions all along, especially after Kevin's silence at his joke of it, but to actually hear this coming from Charley? It was almost baffling how lost he felt.

"Jerry you're…" Charley started breaking the silence. "You're not gonna… Go after my Dad are you?" The boy seemed to be on the verge of breaking down, like a crack that forms in glass when it's under too much pressure.

Again Jerry found himself lost for words.

Instead his body moved almost involuntarily to sit himself beside the boy and pull the shaky boy into his embrace.

'What the fuck am I doing…?'

"Uhh… Jerry?" Charley's voice cracked under his nerves.

"Charley I won't do anything you don't want me to do. I swear it." Jerry heard himself say. As if to try and regain some of his lost dignity he slowly pulled the boy off himself and stared at him. "If you don't want me going after your father…" Jerry inhaled deeply before letting out a heavy sigh. "Then I won't."

The boy just looked at him, a lost look in his eyes as he simply nodded.

"I appreciate that Jerry…." He said, turning his gaze away to the floor at his feet and nervously picking at a hangnail on his thumb. The vampire merely sat there in the new awkward silence that settled in on them unsure of the feelings swarming his head and picking at his brain like a pack of mosquitoes.

This whole human emotion thing was really starting to piss Jerry off.

"Kevin are you out of your bloody mind!?" Buster howled over the phone, the sound prompting Kevin to remove the offending object from his ear so he didn't lose his hearing.

"I'm not deaf, I heard you just fine." Kevin retorted. That made the Englishman snort utterly furious.

"You've completely lost your head!"

"Relax he didn't suspect a thing." Kevin groaned throwing his head back. "I was very careful I always am!"

"I'm not worried about you being careful anymore Ford I'm worried about the shit storm your gonna bring back here to New York City."

"Buster please, I know how to handle vampires."

"I'M NOT DYING BECAUSE MY PARTNER'S AN IDIOT!" Buster's words silenced Kevin, the later sitting there with a heavy sigh. "Kevin, you need to STOP this now before it goes too far."

"Buster you KNOW I can't." Kevin started but Buster cut him off.

"You damn well can! You have a free will of your own now it's time to learn to start saying NO."

"Buster."

"Kevin listen to me. I understand you have a debt to pay to Loony Lou but this has gone on long enough! It's time to stop this and come home."

"I get what you're saying Buster but I can't just up and leave in the middle of this. Once the vampire figures out that more than half of the information in that file is a load of crap I'm screwed."

"Then turn back now!"

"THERE IS NO TURNING BACK!" Kevin had to stop himself in order to keep his composure in front of his lifelong friend. "There is, no turning back Buster. Not now not when I'm so close." He paused again. "I've got him, I've ALMOST got him. This whole thing with Lou was just the icing on the cake now I cannot and WILL not let him get away from me this time!" Kevin smacked his fist on his steering wheel as if to beat his resolve into it. "Pete nearly lost his life when he tried and you know he can't do anything with this truce looming over them all."

"Yes I'm aware of the standstill they've all come to over there Kevin but you know something else I know?" Buster inquired. Kevin threw his head back again with a loud sigh before replying.

"No what…?"

"I know what happened to you when you went after the vampire that took your own family."

"That's not fair…."

"It is fair Kevin. I was there with you every step of the way even when my mind told me to leave you in the dust. I was there when you confessed to Peter and I was there when you both found the stake blessed by St. Michael."

"I know…"

"Then why are you gonna go and make me relive all that Kev? You're gonna make me relive those three LONG years of watching you kill yourself repeatedly because you failed? You're gonna make me march my fat ass down there and beg Peter to give me that stake so I can change you back into a human again? You'd think after the first time you'd have learned to give this up!"

"I guess I'm just a glutton for punishment…" Kevin said as the lights from a black SUV pulling up behind him glared in his rear view mirror. "Listen Buster, I gotta go. Something just came up so I'll call you later alright?"

"Kev, no LISTEN to me you HAVE to get out of there NOW!"

"I'll be fine. If I need help I call you now PLEASE stop worrying about me I'm FINE!"

"Kevin!"

"I'm sorry." Kevin quickly hung up his phone and shoved it back in his pocket as the man in the SUV behind him stepped out and approached his vehicle. Getting out himself he decided to play it safe and pretend nothing was happening. "Well this doesn't look weird and suspicious at all."

"I'm not in the mood for games tonight Kevin." Lou snapped as he approached. "How'd it go? Did he buy it?"

"Did who buy what?" Kevin held his hands up when Lou grabbed him by the collar of his shirt and slammed him against his own car. "Hey hey take it easy! This thing is vintage!"

"You're gonna be vintage in a second if you don't knock this shit off." Lou growled. "Now answer my question. Did he buy it!?"

"Yes yes he ate it up like it was goin outta style." Kevin waved his hands around like this was the stupidest question Mr. Brewster could have asked him and was quite thankful when the man let him go. "Can I ask you something though?"

"I suppose." Lou replied with a glare.

"Why did you want me to tell him everything? I mean, if I had tried to kill my son once I wouldn't exactly want some other guy with a potential to murder me to know about it." Kevin ducked a little when Lou clenched his fist tightly and moved as if to strike him.

"I have to assume my son has told that bastard everything by now so to have you leave it out would only raise red flags and make my situation worse. I want my son to trust me willingly, not go running off to the neighbour next door because he's afraid of me."

"Little late for that…"

"What'd you just say to me?"

"Nothing nothing!" Kevin held his hands up. "Nothing at all!"

"That's what I thought." Lou snorted and started pacing back and forth. "What's the deal with this puke Parker Vincent?"

"You mean Peter?"

"Whatever! Parker, Peter. Who gives a shit?!" Lou threw his hands up in frustration causing Kevin to take a few steps away from him. "Why is this man involved?! What business does he have here with my son?!" Kevin shrugged at this.

"How the hell should I know? He's an old friend of mine I know that and judging by the way Charley and Jerry seem to act around him I'd say he's a friend of theirs to."

"Don't do that."

"Don't do what?"

"Don't say his name in the same sentence as my sons."

"Who's name, Jerry's?"

"YES!"

"Alright alright!" Kevin ducked around Lou when he came at him with a twisted snarl on his face. "Calm down I didn't mean anything by it!"

"You understand something here and now KEVIN." Lou grabbed Kevin by the neck and held him firmly in place. "You owe me after what happened in New York. This is your ONE chance to pay up so don't you dare fuck this up for me or I'll finish what they started. Am I making myself clear?" Kevin nodded quietly at his words. "Good." Lou let Kevin go causing the man to fall backwards into the dust coughing.

"I have a plan, you just need to trust me on this." Kevin finally managed to cough out after a moment.

"I'll trust you when I see Jerry Dandridge dead and my son in my car." Lou snapped, ripping his car door open. "You have two weeks Kevin. TWO WEEKS. You take even an hour longer than that and I'll bleed you dry." With that threat hanging in the air Lou got into his car and sped off leaving Kevin alone in the desert.

"Well that went….. WELL." Kevin said spitting out the dirt in his mouth. "Good thing I didn't mention Jerry was a vampire or he'd REALLY have my head by now." He shrugged at his own words and got into his car to go back to his hotel. "I wonder how he'd feel if I brought him Jerry's heart instead…."

Kevin just hoped trying to kill the bloodsucker on behalf of Peter didn't crawl back from the grave to bite him in that ass this time, for Buster's sake at least.

"So what did he say?" Peter asked as he stepped out of his car. There was a loud snort on the other end of the line which echoed the vampires' annoyance at his question.

"Nothing, he didn't tell me anything." Jerry growled. "All he said was that his dad tried to kill him."

"He didn't mention how or why he might have done it?"

"Do you REALLY think I'd be calling you if he told me that Peter?" Peter rolled his eyes at this, stepping into the elevator and pressing the button to get into his penthouse.

"No I suppose not but you aren't generally very forthcoming with information Jerry."

"Touche." That made Peter laugh, annoyingly so but it was a step in the right direction for their relationship. At least he hoped so, for Charley's sake. Stepping off the elevator he decided to press further about this incident.

"So are you gonna ask him what happened or are you just gonna leave it?"

"No. I don't want to push it, not after last night." Jerry replied with a huff.

"Understandable."

"I was hoping you might though." That made the magician stop dead in his tracks.

"Why does this request not surprise me?" Peter groaned.

"I dunno. Maybe you know me better than you think?" The vampire cooed through the phone.

"Shut it!" Peter said in warning earning himself a snicker from the vampire on the other end of the line. "Why do I keep putting up with your shit?"

"Because you find me oddly fascinating and deep down inside you know you want me."

"Very fucking funny JAWS. You're a riot."

"I try."

"Seriously though, why do you want ME to go and ask Charley why his own father tried to kill him? If he didn't tell YOU anything Jerry what the hell makes you think he'll tell me?"

"Because he trusts you." Jerry retorted indignantly.

"Ahh, he doesn't trust me as much you like to think it actually." Peter shook his finger at the statement. "Believe it or not I think he trusts you more than any of us."

"Bull." Jerry snorted. Peter merely shrugged grabbing his bottle of midori and a glass of ice.

"You don't buy it?"

"Nope."

"Then how about this." Peter started. "Who is the one person Charley is always running off to when he needs something? Who is the one person he ALWAYS wants with us?"

"Am I to assume this is where I say, ME?" Jerry said bemused.

"No, I'm talking about Santa Clause OF COURSE I MEAN YOU." The magician plunked himself down in his chair at this. "Listen, if you want to know what happened go look at that file Kevin gave you. If anyone could have found out what happened it's him."

"I'm beginning to wonder who the real brains in the operations you've been cooking is." Jerry mused with a grin that Peter could practically feel through the phone.

"Fuck off!" He said angrily and hung up the phone. He'd probably regret doing that later but he just couldn't handle it when the bloodsucker talked to him with that tone of voice. That arrogant, cocky tone. "Bloody snacker…."

He anticipated he'd be hearing about that hang up later but for the time being he was content to leave it. He had more important things to be worrying about right now anyways, like the fact that Kevin had his vampire hunting kit in the back of his car last night. "The idiot better not be trying anything stupid…." The last thing any of them needed now was a new hunter in town trying to bring down a vampire like Jerry.

Most importantly, the last thing HE needed was Kevin trying to take down this vampire for his sake….
