Mufasa scoped up the young prince as he ran with the herd. He needed to get Simba out of the gorge, he needed to get his son to safety. He only thanked the kings of the past that Nala and Kagome weren't in there with him.

Mufasa prayed that they were with their mothers; safe. Mufasa ran in between the beasts, shoving and pushing to the side of the right to get to the cliffs to climb. Mufasa knew that he had to get Simba out of the gorge. He just had to. He jumped to a lower ledge and placed Simba down. Ready to get on the ledge himself. But then it happened.

A Wildebeest caught his lower half. Taking him away from Simba. It was now he knew he needed to think. It was easier now without having to worry about Simba and keeping him from further harm. He saw the side of the gorge and without a second thought jumped. It was a stable surface and with his sharp claws be began to scale the steep that was before him.

Mufasa could see that Simba was watching from the side but as his attention was drawn away from the task at hand, he loses his footing. 'Focus on getting to safety first before worrying too much about Simba' Mufasa thought to himself. He knew that Simba was safe and that there was a safe way for him to climb to the top. He climbs and quickly and safely as he could. He needed to get out of this.

As he climbed further and further up it was getting harder and harder. Mufasa was getting tired. He wasn't as young as he used to be. But he needed to do this. He needed to get to the top. He needed to get out of the danger. He wanted to be able to see Simba at the top, he wanted to go home with his son and see his queen, to see Kagome.

He wanted to live and see both Simba and Kagome grow up in to large, strong lions that he knew they could become. He wanted to live so he would be able to see Simba take over the pride land while he and Sarabi were retired to the side and not have the reasonability of the kingdom on his shoulders.

He wanted to be there when the white lions came for Kagome so that he and Simba can turn them away so she can stay at pride rock if that's what she wants, or to see her go off with them and then her return so her cubs could visit the land she would have grown up on.

The top ledge was getting closer and those desires were keeping him going. It was then he noticed Scar sitting there. His dear younger brother. Mufasa realised that he would need his bothers help to get through this and live as his limps were becoming too exhausted to hold his weight.

"Scar" Mufasa called out to his brother. "Help me" he begged him weakly. He knew a king should never beg but he was becoming desperate to make his desires real. At first Scar did nothing but look down at his brother but it was only when Scar did move that Mufasa was regretting his decision to rely on him. Scar pulled out his front two paw claws and dug them into Mufasa's which were griping at the ledges. Scar moved his Head down to his brother's with an evil winning smirk on his proud face.

"Long live the king" Scar slowly whispered into Mufasa's ear. This caused the King's eyes to widen with something he wasn't sure was shock because of betrayal or the realisation of the fear of dying he had deep inside. Before he could utter a work of begging Scar unlooked Mufasa's claws from the rock surface and let go of his brother to watch him fall back down into the gorge to his cruel death.

"AHHHH!" was all Mufasa could think of saying as he fell down all the way that he had just climbed up.

"NOOO!" second voice had called out in terror. It was Simba. Who was standing on a ledge that he was moving up to try and get to the top where he through his dad would be waiting for him, so they could forget all about this and just go home to the warmth of his mother and the kindness of his sister after such a horrific experience. Hut that was not going to happen now, as he watched his father fall to his death.

While Simba had been thinking that, Mufasa had stopped his screaming realising that there would be no miracle that would save him this time. This was just like he had told Simba. The sun was setting on his time in this world and Simba would have to step up and take his place as ruler with his mother's guidance. And with this he knew he would never see his desires come true.

He would never live to see Simba and Kagome grow up in to large, strong lions. He would never live to see Simba become king of the pride lands. Scar had taken his retirement with Sarabi to watch over their cubs while he didn't have the reasonability of the kingdom on his shoulders. He wouldn't be there when the white lions came for Kagome or to see her go off with them and then her return with her own cubs to visit the land she would have grown up on.

Scar had taken all that away and he doubted that anyone would ever know that his brother's betrayal was the reason for his death. He should have banished him long ago but it had been his mother's love for his brother that had made him trust him from the moment he was born.

Well that had been misplaced trust it had seem and now that was the reason for his early joining the dead and taking his place in the stars with the other kings of the past. Scar was the reason that he would be seeing his father again when he was not ready to die. His brother would be the reason for the struggle that Simba would have to deal with when he took the kingdom at such a young age.

Scar was an evil that would spread over the land and it would be Simba's job to keep his uncle from the throne. Though that is if Scar doesn't do something to him first. And with that last thought, Mufasa faced the blackness that had awaited him.

"Dad!" Simba yelled into the now empty gorge. There was a sound of movement in front of him. Simba moved out the way as a stray wildebeest as it ran past him and to where the rest of the heard was. The dust it kicked up by the wildebeest made Simba cough and he continued to look for his dad. He knew he had to be around there somewhere, after all that was where he fell.

Then there was where he was. All Simba saw was Mufasa's back as he laid in the mud dust. "Dad" he called for his father's attention, but he didn't move. Simba ran closer to his father's body. When he went around the front and saw Mufasa's eyes were closed. Simba didn't want to believe that it meant what he thought it meant.

"Come on" He said as he tried to shake Mufasa to get him to move, but he just made his father's fur move from side to side. "We got to go home" he tried again, his voice breaking form the sadness that was causing the tears in his eyes. "Get up" he said in a last depressed attempt to get his father up and moving again. When Mufasa didn't move at all. Simba was desperate by now and didn't know what to do.

"Help!" he yelled out into the empty gorge in a last desperate attempt to figure out what has happened in the space of what seemed only moments. "Somebody! Anybody" he yelled out once again. "Help" he said in a small scared voice. He realised that no one was going to come.

It was always his father that ran to him when he called. But that wasn't going to happen this time. Mufasa wasn't going to turn up and make his problems disappear like he always did. Simba had no one

"Simba" Simba was shocked to hear someone else in the gorge much less it being his uncle. "What have you done?" Scars voice thick with fake accusation, but Simba being the age he was, didn't know the fake voice from the honest one. Simba was so confused on what to do, he knew what it looked like but he hadn't done it, it wasn't his fault. The tears from earlier were still in the young cubs eyes.

"I didn't mean to, it was an accident" he tried to explain himself and how the scene to his uncle.

"I know, I know" Scar said in thick fake comfort as he brought the sadden cub closer to him with his paw. "Nobody ever means for these things to happen" he said as he stoked the cubs back in a 'soothing' gesture. "But the King is dead" he stated as he stopped the stoking for Simba to look up at him. "And if it wasn't for you he'd still be alive"

"What do I do?" Simba asked desperately.

"Run a way Simba" Scar said, eyes holding truth and Simba's looking to him as if he had just given him a death sentence. "Run away and never return" at this something had switched on in the young cubs mind and he ended up doing just that. He turned tail ran, ran away from his uncle and didn't even notice the three hyena's that had walked up beside his uncle.

"Kill him" was the only thing that Scar had to say to the three before they took off after the young cub. They chased the cub all the way out of the gorge to a cliff. But he was going too fast to stop. It wasn't too bad because of his small shape, Simba could move around the thorn that threatened to cut his skin. He quickly made his way through the bushes unlike the Hyenas on his tail.

"Wo" Bansai said as he tried to stop before he was too late, and he accomplished this with space to spear, of course that was until Shensi smacked into his back in her attempt to stop. This wasn't too bad as he was still on the cliff and no in the bushes, but then it happened. Ed smacked in to Shensi which made her move forward and then sent Bansai over the edge and straight into the bushes.

"Ahh, Ohh, Ahh" was all that could be heard from the Hyena as he jumped around trying to jump out of the bushes that were causing him so much pain. He managed to grab onto the edge of the cliff and pull himself out, but that didn't help the fact he was covered, head to tail in thorns Shensi and Ed just laughed at their pack mate. While this was happening Simba made it to the end of the thorn bushes and sprinted into the dessert.

"There he goes, there he goes" Shensi yelled as she saw Simba's golden fur take off further into the dessert.

"So what you waiting for, go after him" Bansai said as he turned his back and started to pull the thorns out of his coat and spitting them back over the edge.

"There an't no way I'm going in there" Shensi exclaimed to her pack mate in mock seriousness, after all Hyena's were very rarely serious. "What you want I to come out looking like you, Cactus butt" she called him. Ed laughed at the name, which made Bansai made enough to spit the thorn he took out and aim it at the other male of the trio.

"But we got to finish the job" he stated.

"He's as god as dead out there anyway" she said as she watched the golden furred lion run further and further into the dessert. "And if he comes back we'll kill him"

"Yeah" Bansai Yelled, seeing the female's logic to the situation. "You Hear that!" he yelled into the distance. "If you come back, will kill ya"
