Chapter 11
Contents Under Pressure
Clarke turned to face us, grabbing one of the canisters that Octavia was holding in her hands. Opening the lid Clarke went to smell the contents before moving her head back swiftly.
"Ugh." She said in disgust. "Monty's moonshine?"
"Yep, pretty sure no germ can survive it." Octavia replied as the entire drop ship shifted a second time causing people to begin panicking.
"Storms getting worse." Clarke commented, "Monroe, close the doors." She ordered.
Monroe rolled her eyes. "We still have people out there." She told Clarke.
"Yea Monty and Jasper still aren't back yet." Octavia added.
"Neither is Bellamy." I said, turning to face Clarke. Her expression told me that she didn't really care if he was back or not. "It's all right they'll find somewhere to ride it out."
"Look. One Suture needle." Raven said from a few feet away.
"Right. I still need something to close the wound." Clarke said.
I looked over at Raven, "Wires maybe?"
"Yea, there's some wire on the second level. We used for the tents." Octavia told us.
"Let's see it." Clarke said, "Stay away from the blue wires." Raven told her causing Clarke to whip her head around to look at her, and Octavia to stand up her head facing the girl as well.
"They're live, the ones that runs though the ceiling. I rigged them to the solar cells in the roof." She finished.
"Please be careful." I told Octavia.
"Got it, blue wires." Raven said again louder, as she continued towards the ladder. "Yea, I got that… and I will." She told us both.
Clarke started to shake her hands out, looking around the room, all over Finn. "Tell me you can do this." Raven asked her.
"She has no choice." I interjected.
"Hey, they're back!"
"Bellamy?" I asked as Octavia stopped climbing up the ladder.
I walked over to him, staring as I saw the Grounder, beaten more than he had been earlier. I stared from the grounder to Bellamy, my hands shaking more than before. "Why?"
"What the hell are you doing?" She demanded.
"It's time to get some answers."
"Oh, you mean revenge?" Octavia spat.
"I mean Intel." He said his voice almost sounding cold towards her.
"Bellamy, you can't be serious." I tried to interject, but Bellamy shook me off.
"Get him upstairs." Bellamy told his friends.
"Clarke, Honey, we're ready." We all heard Abby's voice over the speaker. Bellamy's eyes focused on the speakers, narrowing on them. He knew this meant we had finally gotten contact with the Ark.
"Can you hear me?" Abby asked.
"Look, this is not who we are." She said quietly.
"Clarke?" Abby said again.
Bellamy looked at her a moment before finally saying, "It is now."
I knew I was going to be of no help to Clarke, so I went to the second level where all the others had been sent up. I sat beside Octavia, looking up at the ladder. "What are they doing to him?"
"Nothing, yet." She replied, shaking her head. "Maybe he'll listen to you."
I scoffed "Since when has Bellamy Blake ever listened to anybody?" A small frown came to my face. "The only person he ever remotely listens to is Clarke."
Octavia looked at me with bewilderment. "Please don't tell me you're jealous of Princess! Tasha, you're the only one Bell ever listens to."
I shrugged, leaning back against the wall. "Maybe... But he's different now. Y'know, a part of me thought things might get easier when we were sent down- maybe we'd have a life free of the bad things, but it was so short lived. Now we're fighting for our lives everyday." I shook my head. "I used to think I would marry your big brother, now I don't even know if I'm gonna be alive tomorrow."
"I still think you're gonna get married." Octavia grinned, grabbing my hand. "You and Bell could have a family."
I stick out my tongue playfully. "Doubtful, but thanks, O..."
Clarke had went upstairs once already, along with Octavia. I wasn't sure I wanted to know what was going on, but from the yelling I could tell it wasn't good.
"Tasha! Where's Clarke?!" Raven asked as she came up the hatch. I stood quickly, hearing the urgent cry of her voice.
"Raven? What's wrong?"
"It's Finn... He's stable now but-but he's getting worse." She told me, sprinting over to the other hatch.
"Clarke's up there." I told her, looking sadly at her. "If I know Clarke, she can get him to get the antidote..."
I followed her upstairs, shaking my head as I saw the grounder, obviously beaten, and Bellamy with belt and buckle from the ship in his hand... He was beating the grounder?
"What the hell, Bellamy?" I asked in shock, walking over to Octavia who looked upset.
"I'm doing what I have to do!" He replied, a gruff tone to his voice.
I shook my head in disbelief, looking at the grounder who couldn't seem to take his eyes off of Octavia. "We're not like the grounders, Bellamy... We don't need to do this!"
"Finn's dying, Tasha." Bellamy stepped towards me, his voice softer now. "He has the antidote."
I averted my gaze to the ground, glancing up as Raven started pulling wires from the ship. "This is wrong, Bellamy, and you know it."
The grounder began making noises, and I looked up, shaking slightly as I realized Raven was putting the wires against his skin, shocking him repeatedly.
"Which is the antidote?" Clarke asked him, desperation clear in her voice. I was angry at her- this wasn't the answer! If they just asked calmly before beating him, maybe he would've answered... Maybe...
"Octavia, what are you doing?!" Bellamy yelled as he looked at his sister. I turned to look at her, my brows furrowing in confusion as I watched Octavia cut herself with the poisoned blade. "What the hell-" And then it hit me. The grounder obviously cared for Octavia, and he wouldn't let her die.
Octavia went over to him, kneeling down. "Which one is it?" She pointed the knife to one of the bottles. The grounder looked to the left.
"This one?" She moved the knife to a different bottle. The grounder nodded.
"That's one way of getting things done." I mumbled, walking over to the hatch. Octavia handed Clarke the bottle and she and Raven went down to help Finn.
Bellamy grabbed my hand before I could follow them down. "Tasha, I-"
I shrugged him off. "You should be apologizing to your sister."
"I did what I had to do, Tasha." Bellamy said, guilt almost washing over his face. "Do you think I wanted to do that?"
"Honestly, Bellamy... You chose to listen to Clarke over me. Have fun fixing your mess."
I hopped down the ladder, stepping out of the drop ship once the doors were open. Everything was destroyed. "I didn't want that to happen." I glanced over my shoulder to see Clarke standing a few feet behind me.
"I know."
Things were changing, that I was sure of. What I wasn't sure of, was if I'd survive much longer.
