Comescu walked over to them and watch them struggling to breathe. He aimed his gun at Callen to finish him. Just as he was about to shoot Callen a shot rang out and one of his bodyguards fell down on the floor. He looked at the doorway and he saw the other agents coming in. Before he and his other bodyguard could get a shot off them were already lying on the floor, dead.
"Eric, we need ambulances quickly. Callen, Sara and Marisa have all been shot," Sam spoke through the com.
"On it's way Sam," Eric replied.
"How are they Mr. Hanna?" Hetty asked.
"They need help quickly. They lost a lot of blood."
"And Comescu?"
"Dead."
"Sam," Callen's weak voice was heard.
"It's gonna be okay G. Help is on it's way. Don't worry Comescu is dead."
"Sara, Marisa."
"They are gonna be okay too G. Don't worry. Just hang in there."
A little later the EMT's were there to take care of them. They stabilized them and loaded them in the ambulance. Sam, Kensi and Deeks stayed there to finish up.
Callen, Sara and Marisa were rushed into the trauma rooms. Callen was wearing a breathing mask. He pulled his mask off.
"Sir, you need to keep that on," the doctor spoke.
"Sara, Marisa," Callen told him.
"The doctors are taking care of them. They'll be alright."
"He raped them," Callen spoke, the anger in his voice made itself known.
"They'll be okay sir. The doctors are taking very good care of them."
The doctor put the mask back on. One of the nurses informed the other doctors that Sara and Marisa had been raped. But that was something to look at later. They were busy to stop the bleeding. Callen looked in the room next to him as the door swung open and he saw Marisa lying motionless on the table. He heard the machine beeping faster. Callen wanted to get up.
"Sir, you have to lie down," the doctor told him while he pushed him back on the bed.
"I need to see Marisa."
"She's being taken care of. The doctor will do everything to make sure she's okay."
"Please, I need to see her. I need to make sure she's alright."
The doctor motioned to the nurse and she opened the door. Callen watched as the doctor worked on Marisa.
"Give me the pedals, charge to 200," Marisa's doctor spoke. "Clear."
Callen watched and they shocked her over and over.
"Marisa, stay with me. Don't you dare die on me," Callen yelled.
"Normal sinus rhythm," the nurse spoke.
"Alright, let's get her up to surgery."
Callen watched Marisa being wheeled out of the room.
"What's going on? Is she okay?"
Marisa's doctor stepped close to Callen.
"She lost a lot of blood. We had to shock her a couple of times. She's up in surgery now. The surgeon will do everything he can to make sure she's alright."
"Please doctor, just save my little girl."
"Don't worry. She's in good hands."
"What about Sara?"
"She's already up to surgery."
Callen was rushed off to surgery too. About 20 minutes later Sam, Kensi and Deeks walked up to the surgical floor. Sam showed his badge to the desk clerk.
"I need to know how the 3 agents are doing who were brought in."
"They are all in surgery for the moment. Please take a seat and the doctor will come and talk to you as soon as they are out."
"Do you know how they are?"
"The young woman seemed to be in worse shape. The doctors are taking very good care of them. Please have a seat."
Sam knew he wasn't getting more information so he sat down next to Kensi and Deeks. An hour later a doctor came up to them.
"Hello, I'm Ms. Gonzalez doctor," the doctor spoke.
"How is she?" Kensi asked.
"She was shot in the abdomen and lost quite some blood but we were able to stop the bleeding. We did have to take out her spleen. With some rest she should be fine."
"Thank you doctor. Can we see her?"
"Not yet I'm afraid. We still have to do some tests on her."
"Tests for what?" Deeks asked.
"We were told that the women were raped so we have to do a rape kit."
"They were raped?" Kensi asked astonished.
"That's what we heard so we're gonna examine them. You can see her after that."
"Thank you doctor."
They sat back down as the doctor walked away.
"Damn, what a bastard. Raping someone is just wrong," Deeks spoke.
"Yeah. If they were it's gonna take some time to heal from that," Kensi replied.
20 minutes later Callen's doctor came out of the OR.
"How is he doctor?" Sam asked, concerned for his partner.
"He should be alright. He was lucky. The bullet missed all vital organs. You can see him now if you like."
Sam looked at Kensi and Deeks.
"Go Sam, we'll wait here for Marisa's doctor," Kensi spoke.
Sam followed the doctor to Callen's room. Sam saw his partner lying on the bed. He was awake. Sam was afraid to go in for a sec. He had no idea what had happened to them in the warehouse.
"Hey G," Sam spoke after a little while as he walked in.
Callen said nothing he just kept staring out the window.
"G."
Callen looked at him. "How are Sara and Marisa?"
"Sara's out of surgery already. She lost some blood and they had to take out her spleen, but she should be alright."
"And Marisa?"
"She's still in surgery. The nurse said it looked pretty bad. But don't worry G. She's strong, she'll pull through."
"This is all my fault."
"It's not G. You couldn't have known that there was still a Comescu out there."
"He came after them because of me. They got hurt because of me. Are Andrei and Dumitru dead too?"
"Yes they are all dead."
"Damn it."
Sam was a bit surprised by his partner's reaction. "Why that G?"
"They deserved way more than that. Getting killed was the easy way out for them."
"What happened at the warehouse G?"
"I don't wanna talk about it," Callen spoke as he looked up at the ceiling.
"What happened G? Talk to me."
"I said I don't want to talk about it," Callen yelled.
"It's okay G. Just take it easy. They are gonna be okay. Just get some rest."
Sam sat down on the chair next to Callen's bed and watched as Callen closed his eyes. Callen tried to get some sleep but all he saw was Sara and Marisa being raped and hearing their screams and then seeing them lie there after they were shot. They were lucky that Sam, Kensi and Deeks came at that moment otherwise they would all be dead. No matter how hard Callen tried, he couldn't get the images out of his head. If he had the change he would bring Andrei and Dumitru back from the dead, torture them and kill them again. That's what they deserved for raping Sara and Marisa.
Deeks and Kensi still sat in the waiting room. It was about 2 hours later when Marisa's doctor finally came out of surgery.
"How is she?" Kensi asked, eager to know how Marisa was doing.
"She lost a lot of blood. The bullet just missed her heart by an inch. It did hit her aorta so we had to repair that. She coded a couple of times on the table but we managed to get her heart beating again. We finally managed to repair it but she's not out of the woods yet. We'll keep monitoring her closely and we'll know more in the morning. The doctor is doing a rape kit on her now so you can see her after that."
"Thank you doctor." Kensi spoke. "I'm just gonna let Sam know what happened so he can tell Callen."
Kensi walked to Callen's room. She stood in the doorway and motioned to Sam to come out.
"How is he?"
"He's been better. He's feeling guilty about what happened to Sara and Marisa. He blames himself. How is Marisa? Is she out of surgery yet?"
"Yeah just now." Kensi told him what the doctor told her.
"Thanks Kens, I'll let him know."
Sam walked back into the room and saw that Callen was awake.
"Any word on Marisa?"
"She just came out of surgery. She's in pretty worse shape. The bullet hit her aorta. The doctors are monitoring her very closely. She's in good hands here."
"Damn it. I should have been the one to try to get the weapons. I should've caught that bullet."
"It's not your fault G. Stop beating yourself up, they are gonna be okay."
"You don't know that."
"You're right I don't know that. But you just gotta think positive."
"Why should I? It's always the same. Everyone that I love or care about is taken from me."
"G, listen to me. They are gonna be alright and you'll work through this together."
"How can I ever stop being guilty? It's my fault they are in here."
"It's not your fault Mr. Callen," Hetty voice sounded and they both looked at the doorway.
"It is Hetty. He went after them because of me."
"Maybe he did, but that doesn't mean that whatever happened to them was your fault. It was Comescu's fault. He went after them."
"Yeah to get to me. He wanted to punish me."
"You can't feel guilty about this. You didn't hurt them. It's not your fault."
"But.."
"No, Mr. Callen. It's not your fault. Comescu is evil, he went after them, not you. Comescu hurt them, not you. Ms. Gonzalez and Ms. Mathews will be alright and they need you to be there for them."
"Every time I close my eyes I see these images in front of me, what happened to them. I can still hear their scream."
"It will take some time to get healed but as long as you stick together you can make it through."
"How can I face them again after this? They'll probably blame me too."
"I'm sure they don't G. I'm sure they are happy to know you're fine. They love you. They don't blame you."
"Maybe a talk with Mr. Getz will help you."
"I don't need a shrink Hetty."
"It might not be a bad idea G."
"I'm fine, I don't need a shrink. No could you leave please I wanna rest."
Sam squeezed him in his shoulder before he and Hetty walked out of the room.
"Keep an eye on your partner Mr. Hanna."
"I will Hetty. I just hope Sara and Marisa will be alright, then he might blame himself a little less."
"Let's hope they pull through. I heard Ms. Mathews is in critical condition."
"Yes, the bullet hit her aorta. They got to it just in time otherwise she would have blood to dead. She's still in ICU."
"Let's hope she pulls through. Have you spoken to Ms. Gonzalez yet?"
"No not yet. I believe Kensi went to see her."
"Alright. Go home Mr. Hanna. Get some rest. I'll make sure you're partner doesn't go anywhere."
Sam nodded and shot one look at his partner before going home. Hetty went to Sara's room.
"Hello Ms. Gonzalez."
"Hello Hetty, please come in."
Hetty walked in and sat down on the chair next to the bed. "How are you feeling?"
"I've been better. Getting shot sucks."
"I wasn't just talking about getting shot."
Sara looked down. She really didn't want to relive that moment.
"If you want to talk to someone I can arrange for Mr. Getz to come and see you."
"Mr. Getz?"
"Nate Getz, our psychologist."
"There's no need for that, I'm fine."
"I'm afraid it's mandatory in your case. He needs to speak with you before you come back to work."
"Fine," Sara replied, but she didn't want to talk to him or to anybody what had happened in the warehouse.
"How are Marisa and Callen doing?"
"Mr. Callen is doing fine. He's awake, he should be fine."
"And Marisa?"
Hetty took a deep sigh before answering. "Ms. Mathews is in critical condition. The bullet hit her aorta. The doctors managed to repair the bleeding but she's still in critical condition."
"Damn it. If she doesn't make it, I'm gonna pull them back out of their graves and kill them okay."
"I'm sure Ms. Mathews will be okay, she's strong. I'll let you get some rest now. Mr. Getz will drop by tomorrow to talk to you."
"Fine."
Sara lay her head back down on the pillow. She really hoped Marisa would be alright. She wanted to go see her but she couldn't get out of bed according to the doctor. She didn't care. She had to go see Marisa. She grabbed her IV pole and tried to walk. It wasn't really easy but slowly she made some steps. She used the railing in the hallway to steady herself. She walked up to ICU and she asked where Marisa was. She walked up to the room and saw Marisa lying there motionless, hooked up to all these different machines. She sat down on the chair next to her bed and grabbed her hand.
"Please Marisa, fight sweetie. I can't lose you. Please be strong."
"Couldn't stay away either?" Sara heard a voice speak behind her. She turned around and saw Callen standing there.
"Hey, no. I just had to see her."
"Yeah me too." Callen sat down on the other chair. "How are you?"
"I've been better. Hetty came to see me and told me I need to speak with Nate."
"She told me that too."
Sara looked at Callen. Callen saw the hurt in her eyes from what she went through.
"I'm really sorry Sara."
"About what G?"
"About what happened to you and Marisa. If it wasn't for me you wouldn't have gotten hurt."
"G, it's not your fault. You couldn't have known."
"I should have known. He's a Comescu. I should have known he was still out there."
"G, it's not your fault what happened to me and Marisa. I don't blame you for what happened."
"You should blame me. If it wasn't for me you wouldn't have been taken."
"G, I'm a federal agent. There's always a risk of me being taken. This is not the first time I've been taken and maybe it won't be the last. I don't blame you for one second. You didn't do these things to me and Marisa. They did and they are dead. They can't hurt us anymore. So stop blaming yourself."
"I can't. I had to listen to both of your screams. They did that to you because of me."
"They did that because they are sick and twisted. God knows to how many people they've done this before. We'll be okay G. We'll get through this, together."
"I just hope that Marisa pulls through."
"She will. She's got your strength."
Callen gave her a little smile. A little later the doctor came in.
"What are you doing here? Visiting hours are over and shouldn't you two be in bed?"
"We just wanted to come and see her," Sara told him.
"I can understand that but I'm afraid I'm gonna have to ask you to leave. You can come back tomorrow."
"Alright."
Callen walked Sara back to her room and helped her back in bed.
"I'm really sorry for what you and Marisa had to go through. I'm really sorry that it happened."
Sara laid her head back on the pillow and started to cry. Callen sat down next to her on the bed and gathered her in his arms.
"It's gonna be okay Sara. We'll get through this."
"Who would be sick enough to do something like that?" Sara sobbed.
"I don't know sweetie. I don't know. I'm so sorry that you had to go through that. I tried to help you but it couldn't get free. I'm really sorry."
"It was just so gross and it hurt."
"I know sweetie, it was hard hearing your screams. I can't imagine what it must have been like for you. I'm so sorry. We're gonna get through this together. I'm here for you if you need me."
"Could you maybe stay here with me?"
"Of course."
Callen and Sara lay back down on the bed. Callen held Sara in his arms while Sara had her head on his chest. Being so close to him was a comfort for Sara. She needed him right now. Not just for what happened to her but also for what happened to Marisa. She just hoped Marisa would pull through this. A little later she fell asleep. Callen lay awake for a little while longer. He played the events of the day over and over in his head, wondering if he could have done something to save Marisa and Sara. A little later Callen fell asleep too.
"Ah here you are," Callen's doctor spoke when he walked into Sara's room.
"Sorry doctor, I just had to go see how she was doing."
"It's fine. As long as you're resting."
"I am."
"Good."
A little later the nurse came by to change Callen's and Sara's dressings. After lunch Nate walked into the room.
"Hi Nate," Callen greeted him.
"Hey Callen."
"Nate, this is Sara Gonzalez. She's our new agent and she's Marisa's mother."
"Yes, Hetty told me about you. She told me what had happened. It's nice to meet you, although I wish it was under different circumstances."
"Yes me too."
"Hetty asked me to stop by and talk to you. She told me about the warehouse. Can you tell me what happened?"
Sara looked at Callen. Callen grabbed her hand.
"Callen and I went out to dinner. When we walked back to the car some guys knocked us out and dragging us into a van or something. When I woke up we were in some warehouse and we were chained to a chair."
"And what happened after that?"
"A little later we found out it was a Comescu that took us and Marisa was thrown into the room. Comescu's thugs came in the room and took Marisa with them. Comescu placed a laptop in our room and we saw Marisa being laid down on a table."
"What happened after that?"
Sara looked down. She really didn't want to discuss it. Callen had the same look on his face.
"I understand that you don't wanna talk about it, but talking about it helps."
"I can still hear her screams every time I close my eyes," Callen spoke. "I tried not to look at the screen but I can still hear her screams as they raped her. And then they came back and took Sara with them and did the same to her. All I wanted to do was stop them but it couldn't. It's my fault they went through this."
"It's not your fault. Stop blaming yourself, G," Sara spoke.
"She's right Callen. It's not your fault. They did that to them and not you."
"Why do I feel so damn guilty then?"
"Why do you feel it's your fault?"
"Comescu was after me. He used Sara and Marisa to get to me."
"Yes he was after you. But he made the choice of involving Sara and Marisa. Not you. He hurt them. Not you. It's not your fault that this happened. You couldn't have known."
"That's what I told him too."
"We'll talk about that later. I wanna talk to Sara. Can you tell me what happened to you after Comescu's thugs took you?"
"I don't wanna talk about it."
"I know it's hard. But talking about it helps. You can't keep it bottled up. It will eat at you until you let it out. You need to talk about it to help you deal with it."
"How can I deal with something like that? They raped me."
"I know it's hard. But talking about it really helps. We are here to help you deal with it."
Sara took a deep sigh. "It was just so disgusting. I can still feel their hands on me and them inside of me. I just wanna stand in the shower and scrub it all off of me."
"That's completely understandable. What can help is write everything down and then burn the paper. But it's gonna take some time for it to heal. Just don't keep it bottled up. You can talk to Callen or to me. We're both here for you."
"Thanks Nate. I think writing it down might be a good idea."
"Alright. I'll be back tomorrow to talk to you again."
"Thanks Nate."
"It's gonna be alright," Callen told her and he gave her a soft kiss on her head.
"I'm just glad you are here with me."
"I'm not going anywhere. We'll get through this."
Callen and Sara lay like this for a while. It was comforting to Sara to have Callen there.
"Can we go see Marisa?" Sara asked after a while.
"Sure."
"Where do you think you're going?" A nurse asked as Sara and Callen stepped out of the room.
"We're going to see our daughter in the ICU," Sara answered.
"You need to rest."
"I need to see my daughter."
"Fine, but you're going in a wheelchair."
The nurse grabbed a wheelchair for her and Callen pushed her to the ICU. The wheelchair couldn't go in the room so Callen helped her walk to the chair. Marisa's doctor was just checking on her.
"How is she doing doctor?" Callen asked.
"She's doing a bit better. Her vitals are slowly improving but she still has a long way to go. It was a very close call. But don't worry, she's in good hands here."
"Thank you doctor."
Callen and Sara sat next to Marisa holding her hand.
"Come on sweetie, you have to fight. We can't lose you. You have to be strong. I know you can do it," Sara spoke.
A little later a lot of monitors started beeping and doctors and nurses came running in.
