Caroline found it strange that someone was actually knocking on her door, the majority of her guests waltzed in without bothering to make themselves announced, she founded it even stranger to meet her mother at the door.

Liz gave her a small smile. "Hey honey, is Klaus around? I need to talk to him."

Caroline grimaced, this was most certainly not a social visit.

Angelus shook his head in disapproval, this spell was dangerous but he didn't dare to say anything to the dark witch making a perfect circle with water around the coffin, on her second round she dropped salt water on top of the water and lastly invited a compelled girl to join her inside of the circle.

The young girl was all dressed in white and offered her palm to Bonnie, she made a cut in it and held the girl's hand high above the coffin so that the blood would drop on top of it.

Angelus knew what she was going to do but that didn't really hassle him, he had his fair share of sins in life, he was by no means a saint but what really left him unsettled was the fact that Bonnie was actually going ahead with it without blinking.

Bonnie touched the girl's forehead to induce a dormant state, she caught the other as she slumped to the ground unconscious and with a swift hand she slid open the throat of the girl.

The circle was now made of high flames as the spell was completed with the blood and last breath of a virgin, now it was all up to Bonnie to bring it home, this was only the easiest part of the spell.

Liz seemed worried but Klaus wasn't oozing his usual self-confidence either as he walked inside of the library, it made Caroline smile that he would so gladly take on an army of vampires, werewolves or any species really but looked so scared around her mother.

"You've asked to see me?" he stopped just next to Caroline.

"I did." Liz nodded but looked at Caroline next. "Maybe you should let me talk to Klaus first honey."

Caroline frowned displeased, sometimes her mother still treated her like she was spending her nights at The Grill getting wasted.

Klaus took Caroline's hand softly. "Whatever you have to tell me you can do it in front of my wife, it spares me the trouble of having to repeat it all to her later on."

Liz sighed deeply. "How very Romeo and Juliet of you two."

Caroline held back a giggle but not a playful smile. "They were both dead as well."

"I'm here because of Kol." Liz ended the glee.

On to it Klaus looked at Caroline, they hadn't seen him for the last 48 hours so they knew that he was up to no good.

"What happened mom?" Caroline asked anxious.

"He's been connected to a wave of crimes that took place in the last two days. I've been called to 2 crime scenes today and the sun is barely up." Liz said worried.

"How do you know that he's responsible for these murderer?" Klaus asked her.

"One because you already know that it's a murder scene and two because the girls all had a strong resemblance to Bonnie."

Caroline gulped down, this was so bad. "Do you know what happened to Bonnie?"

"I know that she left but I also talked to Damon yesterday and he told me all about what went down in the hospital." Liz answered while looking straight at Caroline.

She acknowledged the judging tone. "We didn't have a choice. I've lost too many friends already."

Liz shook her head slowly. "I hope that one day you'll understand that this family can't keep playing God."

Caroline didn't look at her mother in the eyes, she couldn't, she felt bad for what happened to Bonnie even if she was justified in all that she did.

"I never wanted to be God, I'm perfectly fine with being a demon." Klaus replied all too nonchalantly.

Caroline gave him a side look.

Liz wasn't sure how to react. "Look, I'm here to ask you to put some restrains on your brother, make sure that he stops because I can't really explain all the dead girls left in places where anyone can trip on them."

It was an inconvenience but Klaus would deal with it. "I will make him stop."

Liz smiled at Caroline. "Call me when all of this settles down, I miss my daughter."

Caroline smiled warmly back at her mother. "I will mom."

Liz nodded at Klaus serious and left the house.

Thoughtful Klaus wondered where Kol might be hiding and he was so absorbed in it that it took him a while to realize that Caroline had her arms crossed and that apparently she was mad at him. "Yes sweetheart?"

"What are you still doing here? You should be out that door already looking for Kol."

"I'm not his handler Caroline." Klaus wasn't in the mood to pick a fight with Caroline over something that his brother did.

"He's out there killing women Klaus!" She stressed out troubled.

"So he is... but why are you upset at me?" he asked confused.

"Because the idea of your baby brother out on the loose killing women who look like my best friend is highly disturbing Klaus."

She called him Klaus again and he was having a hard time dealing with this because he could be guilty of killing half of Rome but he was not the one who had set fire to it. "Perhaps if your best friend hadn't walked out on my baby brother and ripped his heart out on the way, he wouldn't be out there taking revenge on girls who remind him of her."

"So she broke his heart, it doesn't mean that he is allowed to go on serial killer mood. It happens, he should get over it." She dropped her voice snappy.

"He was in love for the first time, my brother Kol who couldn't care less about humans fell in love with one and he ended up turning her so that she could leave him in the end." Klaus growled under his breath. "Forgive him if he is himself right now."

"It still doesn't give him the right to do any of this Klaus."

It was the third time on a row that she called him Klaus and he snapped. "Right now he can't tell the difference between right and wrong, he just wants to numb his pain by having as much adrenaline in his body as he possibly can, that's feeding from a human in case you were doubting Caroline and yes, good and bad are just words to us during most of our awake time."

She gritted her teeth mad at him, this was one of those fights that wouldn't end well, they stared at each other mad and then at the girl standing at the entrance watching them in silence.

"This is an actual fight... it's like the announcement of doomsday." Rebekah said somberly.

Caroline turned around looking outside the window furious while Klaus simply left, he walked by Rebekah and Damon with a clenched jaw and a tamed will to cause havoc.

Damon shot right after him. "Trouble in perfect Klaus and Caroline paradise?"

Klaus didn't even look back, he kept on strutting to his car and gave Damon a snarl when this one sat on the passenger side. "Leave my car Damon."

"I like living in Mystic Falls, it kind of grows on you and it would be nice if we could stop your brother from killing the entire female population."

"I can do this alone." Klaus said annoyed.

"I know." Damon started fondling with the radio.

"I'm not in the mood Damon, so do not push me today. I'm sure you don't look as good in a corset as my wife does so I suggest you do not test me or I will fetch for your jugular through your chest."

"Today is going to be fun." Damon smiled.

Klaus started the car with a deep sigh, he really hated fighting with Caroline.

Rebekah watched her sister-in-law feeling helpless. "It's strange, it's like the Earth suddenly isn't turning in the right way..."

Caroline looked down on the floor, she hated fighting with Klaus more than anything but she wasn't well, there was too much stress build up that she needed to let out and she knew that regret would settle in as soon as her anger disappeared. "I'm sorry that you had to see that..."

"It's like watching mommy and daddy fight, it's actually kind of endearing." Rebekah smiled.

"B... seriously." Caroline sighed.

"I do however have a favor to ask mommy now that daddy left to search for Kol."

"What is it?" Caroline could use the distraction.

Rebekah answered with a huge smile only, which made Caroline very uneasy.

Damon looked around the abandoned property with a raised eyebrow. "Are you sure that he's in here?"

Klaus nodded, he was sure of it now that he had time to calm down and focus. "There's only two places where Kol has spent equal time, inside of a coffin and the place where we all grew up."

Damon scanned the place one more time with a dodgy look. "You all lived in here?"

"Obviously not in the house that is in ruins now but the land itself. We had our huts in here and the entire village was built around this area." Klaus spoke reminiscent about the past.

"Why didn't you rebuild your house here?" Damon asked him curious.

"Isn't the original Salvatore manor somewhere in the middle of the woods in ruins as well?" Klaus countered.

Damon lifted his hands. "I get it, there are too many memories that you don't want in a house haunting you for eternity."

"But Kol will search for the place where he grew up, he needs to feel rooted to something."

They made their way slowly inside of the house and Damon knew that Klaus was right as soon as they found a dead girl lying where the door used to be and another one on the beginning of what was once a staircase.

Outside in the back of the house Kol was destroying an old car with a bat, taking out his frustration on the metal with vigor, he only stopped to have a sip from a bottle that he ended fast, he hauled it in the air so that he could smash it with his bat.

He started laughing when he saw Damon and Klaus approaching. "My big brother is here for the rescue."

"Aren't you over doing it all just a tad much Kol?" Klaus asked him with an eye on a girl that was squatting near the car crying and covered in shattered glass.

"You reckon so?" he asked opening his arms. "What if it was Caroline, your precious little baby vampire? What would you do if she decided that everything that happened between the two of you wasn't enough and that she didn't want to be with you any longer?" he pulled his shoulders together. "I think that I might be handling it quite well, if you ask me."

Damon looked at Klaus. "Are you ending the Coco's Nest monologue, or am I?"

"It's time to go home." Klaus told Kol.

Kol smiled. "We are home Niklaus. This is where everything started and where our lives went to hell." he opened his arms wider.

In silence Klaus started to pace closer to Kol.

He picked the girl up by her elbow and pressed her against him with an arm around her neck. "Henrik died, father died, mother died, Finn, Elijah... there's only the three of us left but you have your life with Caroline all sorted out and even Bekah is with that one now." he eyed Damon. "While I'm all alone."

"You never cared for any of that before, why are you starting now?" Klaus asked him quietly.

"Because she made me feel." he said frazzled.

The girl started crying louder as he tilted her head to a better angle of feeding.

With a whoosh Klaus was in his personal space. "Let go of the girl Kol."

"She's just a human." he hissed tightening his grip around her instead of releasing her.

"And she's not Bonnie." Klaus pointed out the harsh truth. "You can kill as many green-eyed girls you can find and look for anyone with her complexion but none of them are her. She's not here Kol so none of this will affect her or hurt her… you're doing this to yourself."

Kol reacted to that, his spiral was in the end without effect and he slowly released the girl, almost numbly he dropped his eyes to the ground with an insurgent battle rising inside of him, he wanted to stop but there was nothing left worthy of making him stop so he lifted his eyes with a furious red in them and a snarl that was as vicious as the killing that he intended to carry out.

"I know..." Klaus simply said before stabbing Kol in the heart with a dagger.

Turning grey Kol succumbed in Klaus' arms and watching from afar Damon found himself understanding Klaus like never before, ironically they weren't that different from each other, they shared crappy fathers who made them feel worthless, they had the same twisted sense of what love was and they were willing to do anything to keep their siblings safe.

"So this is your big adventure?" Caroline asked Rebekah with a mistrusting tone.

Rebekah was staring at a closed front door. "I want to put this matter to rest, now that Damon and I might be starting something..."

"Are you doing that from the doorstep?" Caroline tried to rush her.

The other blonde huffed. "We are about to walk inside of the house I once gave Matt, where we made love Caroline and where I told him that I loved him and where he said that he loved me back.. so can I have a bloody minute?"

"Sure... I have all eternity." Caroline lifted her hands annoyed.

"You really need to work things out with Nik, you are no fun to hang out with when you're at odds with him." Rebekah sighed.

"Your brother is a moron." she countered upset.

Rebekah smiled, even when Caroline was mad at her brother she still was very passionate about him and that strangely gave her a fuzzy feeling inside.

After a moment just to herself Rebekah finally turned the key and opened the door, she stepped inside of a house buried in darkness but the really odd thing was that all the windows were covered with sheets.

Instantly Caroline took the lead attentive to any noise echoing inside of the house.

"Are you thinking the same that I'm thinking?" Rebekah whispered.

"Vicki isn't smart enough to get a daylight ring for herself." Caroline whispered back.

The house was a mess, with a lot of stuff left carelessly on the floor and Caroline found a broom that she broke in two, she made sure that Rebekah stayed behind her back, the human wasn't happy about it but it had been her idea to come say goodbye to the house in the first place.

They reached the bottom of the staircase but instead of going up Caroline followed her instinct and headed to the kitchen, she was ready for anything but Vicki jumped over the balcony from the floor above them and pushed Rebekah against the rail.

Caroline confronted Vicki with a spiteful look.

"Hi brainless bimbo." Vicki greeted her.

Caroline politely returned the compliment. "Piece of white trash."

"Are you girls acquainted?" Rebekah asked rubbing her arm.

"Very." Caroline showed Vicki the piece of broom that she arranged as a weapon.

Vicki ignored that and looked at Rebekah with black veins forming around her eyes. "So you're the one who got my brother killed."

"He wanted me dead first." Rebekah hissed.

"This is amazing. I have two bitches to kill and send a message to the idiot who killed Matt."

"Today is not a good day to piss me off Vicki. I'm already there." Caroline warned her.

"I can always start with the witch." Vicki focused on Rebekah, when the other squinted there was a burning in her chest, it was weird and uncomfortable but still manageable.

Rebekah gasped realizing that her magic wasn't really making a dent in Vicki and looked at Caroline worried.

Caroline smiled while hurling the weapon in her hand into the air. "I really could use you to let out some steam." She caught the weapon effortlessly as it came down.

With a flash she was all over Vicki and the two girls fought each other with a series of hits that missed very little, Caroline ended on top of Vicki and punched the girl mad, she dodged Vicki's response and hit her again right across the face.

Vicki was furious and pulled Caroline's long hair to gain a momentum, she shoved her palm right under the blonde's chin and pushed her away, with the motion she was able to roll over and be on top.

It was her chance to punch Caroline but she missed the piece of wood that Caroline was still holding and she was almost too late to stop Caroline from stabbing her right in the middle of her chest, she hauled away from Caroline with a ruined shirt and a hurt ego.

Caroline stood up with a smile. "I wasn't even going to kill you just yet."

Vicki was boiling in anger but she wasn't wining this fight today so she yanked one of the sheets that were covering the windows and wrapped herself in it before running away.

Caroline followed her to the front door where she left a nasty odor of burnt flesh behind.

"She's immune to magic but not to your mean right hook and sun. That's good to know." Rebekah said next to Caroline.

"Why don't you just burn the house to the ground?" Caroline asked her suddenly.

"That's the best idea you've had in days." Rebekah answered excited.

Damon dropped the last bit of gasoline left inside of the plastic can on top of the piled bodies and looked at Klaus as he started the fire with a match. "When one of you snaps, you really snap."

"We all kill differently Damon, while Stefan is a ripper I enjoy the mind games and others kill only for need. Kol takes pleasure in finding the right prey, we are all different but in the end we are all the same." Klaus faced Damon determined on having an answer. "What's your intentions regarding my sister?"

Damon scrunched his face. "Do you really wanna do this over a pile of dead bodies?"

"I demand this conversation, it's been postponed once too often and I assure you that it's not the first one I've had with such a background."

"That hits sinister on all cylinders." Damon started walking back to the car.

"I can always remind you that I am able to compel you." Klaus said naturally.

Damon grunted out a frustrating hiss. "I like your sister."

Klaus crossed his arms over his chest with a piercing narrow of his eyes.

Damon was under scrutiny but instead of fighting it he gave in. "I loved Elena but I was always out of time with her, I met her too soon, then too late. She fell in love with me but it wasn't the right time and then when it was the right time, we weren't right for each other. I should have been there for her all the way but she should have let me in like she did with Stefan." he stopped near the car. "It was never the right time and I was always a step behind trying to catch up to her and then she died. With Bekah... I don't feel like I'm running against the clock all the time."

"Just that you are Damon, because she is human and unless she wants to be turned, I will kill you before you touch her." Klaus said determined.

Damon had a question for Klaus as well. "I'm officially a suitor for Rebekah so why is my extra good-looking head still attached to my rather handsome neck?"

Klaus smiled. "As a human I was killed by my father on this very ground and the second I woke as a vampire I knew that our lives would never be the same, I also knew that it was up to me to change the perception that the world had of me and I didn't stop until I erased the image that my father made of me. Now as the extremely determined person that I am, I came to this town ready to put an end to my curse and I had Caroline and Tyler ready to use on a sacrifice until... you started the annoying tradition of messing with my elaborate plans."

"I take pride in that." Damon smirked.

"By rescuing her that night, you gave me Caroline." Klaus said as serious as he has ever been around Damon.

"Maybe I should have let Tyler die though..." Damon joked.

Klaus laughed. "I will forever hold you to that."

"So..." Damon opened the door. "Caroline and corsets, huh?" He pushed the envelope a little.

Klaus' look told him exactly how much he was stretching that rope.

Damon nodded. "Jugular… chest. Got it." he got inside of the car fast.

Klaus rolled his eyes, this idiot was in danger of becoming family.

Caroline played with her necklace while glancing outside the window, she knew that he was home but he was taking his time to come up to the bedroom, certainly he was still ticked off about their fight.

The thing is, the longer she stayed up here thinking about it, the bigger was the feeling that it was stupid to stay mad at each other and she decided to look for him.

She found him in the Art room where he was having a drink and admiring a painting without really looking at it, she walked closer to him slowly, sizing the lion that was capable of tearing her apart but unable to do so.

"Hey..." she ventured quietly.

Klaus looked at her smiling. "Hello sweetheart."

It took her off guard that he leaned over and kissed her on the lips, she wasn't expecting that much amiability. "I was waiting for you in our room..."

"And I was waiting for you in here." he leaned over and kissed her again. "Therefore I win."

Caroline didn't like that and scolded him mildly.

"I wasn't the one to blame for what happened with Kol." He lifted his eyebrows a bit as he gave her a bit of a side-look.

"I know." She admitted her fault. "And it's our second fight in a week which means that we have a new record."

Klaus poked one of her golden locks. "I said that I could take it but I will be angry as well sometimes and whenever that happens I rather be away for a while before I return home."

"And you'll make me apologize for the wrongs I've done against you?" she wasn't too enthusiastic about that.

Klaus shook his head. "There's no need for any of that between us sweetheart. There will be many fights in the future, facing eternity together can be challenging in many ways but we'll find a way to keep things interesting."

She raised an eyebrow questioning his chosen words. "I'm beginning to suspect that you enjoy our fights just a little too much because they usually end up a shower and working our differences against the wall."

"What would that make of me love?" he pretended to be appalled.

"Horny all the time." she simply dropped.

"Ouch." he groaned on his way to sip from his drink.

"You know that I'm right." She took the glass from his hand to drink from it.

"I didn't know that it was such a default for a husband to enjoy being with his wife so much."

She lifted her eyes from the drink to him for a perfect scowl.

"Are we that much divergent from each other?" He asked with a cunning hand that started to caress her neck.

She could hold back the words but not the unwilling chill that crossed her spine, sometimes all that Klaus had to do really was lower his voice and say her name in that lilt way.

Klaus brushed her cheek with his lips, whispering against her ear. "I'm going to have a shower."

"I'm not joining you." Decidedly she informed him.

Rascally he smiled as he left the room, he believed her and that was part of the allure of being with someone like Caroline, she never did make things easy on him.

He was sitting on the sand and watching the waves coming and going, it was peaceful but also a beautiful analogy to his current situation, like the ocean his resurrection was without explanation.

After the small walk that took her to the private access to the beach Bonnie sat down on the sand next to Elijah and handed him a bag full of blood. "How are you feeling?"

"Like I have been killed one too many times..." He kept his eyes on the moon-bathed ocean.

"I'll get you new clothes, I sort of forgot about that…" she wasn't used to seeing Elijah wearing a suit that wasn't immaculate.

He looked at her. "Why did you bring me back Bonnie?"

"I need you." She smiled at him. "And I missed you."

"Bonnie…" he toned down his voice, there was something different about her.

Bonnie took his hand and rested it above her heart. "I'm like you now."

"I would've stopped them." Elijah assured her.

Emotional she looked down from his eyes, he would've given them such a fight.

"Why isn't Kol here with you?" Elijah asked her mesmerized by how incredibly beautiful she was to him.

Slowly she looked up. "Because I realized that I'm in love with both of you." She wrapped her hand around his.
