Chapter Ten: Contemplating Change

Willow stood there, frozen in shock at everything she had just learned about her best friend. First, Buffy was bisexual. Second, Buffy dated Faith. Third, Buffy had a crush on Tara before, but the most surprising of all was the fact that Buffy was in love with her. Willow just couldn't accept the fact that her best friend was in love with her.

For years Willow had listened to Buffy talk about how much she loved Angel and Riley. Now, Willow just listened to her best friend admit that she had loved her for at least a year, maybe longer. Closing her green eyes, Willow processed everything once again before walking over to pick up the picture of her long dead lover.

"What would you do?" she whispered, before setting the picture down.

Walking back into Slayer's headquarters, Buffy quickly made her way down the halls and to Faith's room. She needed to speak to the brunette, and it couldn't wait. Without knocking, Buffy pushed the door to Faith's room opened, and frowned at the sight of Faith and a new slayer laying naked together on the bed.

"Don't you know how to knock, B?" Faith asked, her irritation at being interrupted clear in her voice.

"Leave now," Buffy said, looking at the new slayer before turning back to Faith as the girl dressed.

"Yes Ma'am," the young slayer whispered, before quickly pulling her clothes on and disappearing out of the room.

"What's your problem, B?" Faith snapped, glaring at the blonde slayer in frustration.

"I told Willow the truth. I kissed her and admitted how I felt about her, Tara, and you," Buffy told her, looking into the angry brown eyes before her.

"Wait. Hold on a sec. You kissed Red?" Faith asked, trying to understand what Buffy just told her. "What did she say?"

"She pulled away and told me she wasn't ready for anything to happen between us," Buffy explained.

"What did Red think about you liking her lover?"

Buffy stood there in silence for a second, remembering the conversation before answering. "She was angry about it. For a second, she seemed to think I wanted to come between them, but then she realized I wouldn't do that."

"And the thing about me and you?" Faith asked.

"She was surprised. I don't think she expected that. She thought I was still "Miss-Straight-Girl". So it really confused her to learn I've been bi since high school," Buffy admitted, shrugging.

"So should I expect Dark Willow to come after me?" Faith wondered, lifting an eyebrow at the confused blonde.

"No, Willow's alright. If she was going to go evil on anyone, it would have been me when she heard I use to like Tara."

Smiling at Buffy's words, Faith nodded. "Is that all that happened or did Red decide to take you for a test drive?"

Buffy laughed and shook her head. "No, we just talked. Then I told her I'd wait for her to come around and kissed her before I walked out."

"Well, at least you left her with a taste of what she's missing," Faith said, looking into the hazel eyes before her.

"Wait...what?" Xander asked after listening to his best friend's babbling. He had been surprised to receive a phone call from Willow asking him to meet her at the hotel she was staying at, but as soon as he arrived, surprised didn't even begin to cover it. After walking into Willow's room, Willow had went into full babble mode, saying something about Buffy and kissing and Tara.

"Xander, are you even listening to me?" Willow complained, turning to face her friend in irritation.

"I'm trying to, but it's all mixing together. I swear something got translated wrong because there's no way you just said that Buffy kissed you and Tara."

"What? Buffy kissed Tara?" Willow asked, feeling her anger surface.

"Um...Will, I was asking you that. I don't know what you just told me, but that's what I got from your babble."

"Oh, um, as far as I know, Buffy never kissed Tara. She better not have at least. Tara lips were only for me," Willow explained, pouting at even the chance that her best friend and lover ever kissed.

"Then who did Buffy kiss?" Xander asked, confused by Willow's words.

"Buffy kissed me. Then she told me she likes me. Plus she's bisexual. She's had a relationship with Faith, and use to have a crush on Tara. She told me that her relationship with Faith started in high school. Can you believe that? She hid this from us since high school. At least I came out to you not long after I realized," Willow said, feeling partially hurt by Buffy's actions.

"Will...did you just say that Buffy kissed you?" Xander wondered, started to feel like he was either hearing things or someone slipped something in his drink.

"Uh huh, she came by earlier to yell at me about leaving again, and then she just kissed me. After that we talked and she kissed me again before she left."

"Buffy kissed you? As in her lips locked to yours?" Xander asked, his voice going high pitched as he asked the question.

"Didn't I just say that?" Willow pointed out.

"When? What? Why?"

"Three very important questions," Willow muttered, sitting down on her bed in frustration. "I don't know what to do, Xander. She's my best friend, besides you. I don't know how I feel about this or her. I mean, yesterday I thought she was straight. Now I'm learning that there's this whole other side to her that she kept hidden from us. I just...I don't know," Willow whispered, confused by everything that had happened earlier.

"Do you believe Buffy has feelings for you?" Xander asked, wanting to help his two best friends.

"I don't know. Part of me wants to, but then there's this whole other side that keeps telling me I shouldn't," Willow admitted softly.

"Why shouldn't you want to believe she likes you?"

Turning and grabbing the picture of Tara off her bedside table, Willow ran her thumb over the face she loved so much. "Because then I'll have to admit that Tara's gone."
