Opposites attract, or so they say. Maybe that's what brought their friendship together as children, and it may be just what tears their relationship apart as adults. But when their differences lead one to become evil, can the other do anything to reverse it? Maybe, or maybe not, though they say that love can conquer all. Story starts off in their childhood, about 400 years before the events of Fairy Tail, multiple genres (friendship, romance, suspense, hurt/comfort, adventure and drama), eventual Zervis/Maref, and Fairy Tail members will eventually enter the story! Long, probably crappy summary that is subject to change, but it'll be a good story. My "re-introduction" to FanFiction, hope it does justice!

Last time…
"What if we hid inside the castle for a little while? Just until things settled down." Zeref suggested.
"Are you insane? That's riskier than us just flying away!" Acnologia scolded.
"You're right." Zeref said with a sigh. "Then flying is our only option, but I doubt a shadow will hold in the air. In ten seconds, I will undo the shadow. Be ready to fly then."
"Got ya." Acnologia said.
Ten… nine… eight… seven… Zeref thought. The timing had to be exact. He had gotten them into this mess, so he had to get them out. Three… two… one…
"Now!" He whispered loudly while undoing his magic simultaneously. As soon as the shadows were dispelled, however, both of them froze in terror as they heard the rush of the balcony door opening. Before they could even react, a small, soft hand was over both of their mouths, yanking them into the room behind them.
As the windows to the balcony slammed behind them, time seemed to be moving in slow motion. It was dark in the room, but Zeref could make out the outline of a child-sized bed with lots of pillows and a comfortable looking bed spread, a fluffy rug in the center of the room, a large dresser, a circular mirror, and a few dolls in the corner of the room—not to mention everything was either pink or white. The girlie-ness made him want to throw up.
Wait. Girlie-ness? He was in a girl's room?!
As the two fumbled onto the floor, he realized exactly who had pulled him in.
"Mavis?!" He whispered loudly, turning to face the blonde.
She rolled her eyes. "'Tis I."
"But-" He began.
"Shhh. Get under the bed." She whispered before he had the chance to ask any questions.
Zeref and Acnologia nodded and quickly scurried under the bed. The bed squeaked lightly as the young girl crawled under the covers just above them. Mere moments later, Mavis's bedroom door swung open, allowing light from the hall into the dark room.
Thinking fast, he pulled Logan into the shadows. At this point, Zeref's heart had relocated from his chest and into his ears. He begged his heart to quiet down, as the mystery person who opened the maiden's door was certainly able to hear its pounding. This thought only sped up his heart even more. They would most definitely be discovered, arrested and hung. His uncle would visit the gallows and laugh boisterously, drink in hand. His aunt would be disappointed, but likely relieved she did not have to deal with him any longer.
What a shitty life he lived, thrown away for a cheap thrill.

Chapter 8: A Reintroduction
All was still as the door to Mavis's room creaked open. Bright light streamed into the room, casting its glare onto the maiden's sleeping face. The figure at the door stepped lightly into the room in an attempt not to wake her.
After waiting several seconds, Mavis opened one eye and sat up, yawning sleepily. "Who goes there?" She asked.
"It's just me, dearie," a sweet, old voice said. It was none other than Matea. "Sorry to bother you. The guards are roaming around outside looking for pesky intruders, so I just wanted to make sure you were alright."
"Oh. Well yes I'm fine." Mavis said.
"Is that so?" Matea asked suspiciously.
She glanced around the room and squatted down a little to look under the bed. At that instant, Mavis's heart dropped. Those two were dead meat if she saw them. Unfortunately, she couldn't distract her or that would make her even more suspicious.
After what seemed like forever, the maid stood up and walked to the balcony window to peer outside. Once she determined everything was as it should be, she made her way back to the door.
"Alright, sorry to wake you dearie. " Matea said with a smile. "Good night." With that, she closed the door and shuffled off.
Although the coast was clear, the three remained absolutely still for what seemed like forever. No one wanted to risk making a noise in case there was someone still outside. Unfortunately, Zeref was a young mage and did not have the strength to hold a transformation for too long. When he reached the point of exhaustion, he broke his shadow transformation, leaving the two completely exposed under the bed for anyone to see.
"Is it safe to come out?" Zeref whispered nervously.
No response.
"Oi, Mavis!" He whispered louder.
"Shhh!" Acnologia hissed. "If she's not responding, quite obviously the answer is-"
His rant was interrupted by a soft snore.
"...that she's sleep." He finished in disbelief. The purple haired boy crawled out from under the bed, followed by his "cousin". "Perhaps we should take this opportunity to escape?" Logan suggested.
Zeref, of course, was not paying attention to him, as his eyes were fixed on the sleeping girl. She looked so peaceful, her even breathing gently moving the covers up and down. Too peaceful. Mischievously, he poked her cheek.
"Mavis-chan!" He whispered with a devious smirk. This did not seem to stir her either. "She's not waking up." He said to his companion with a pout.
"No shit." Acnologia said, rolling his eyes. "That means we should go."
Rather than listening, he began to pull her cheeks and make her make silly faces, much to Acnologia's dismay. Mid-face pull, Mavis's eyes shot open, scaring the boy out of his wits. It was all he could do to not scream as loud as possible.
"Can you not?" Mavis asked blandly, sitting up. She smirked at the trembling boy now standing behind Logan. "You sure scare easy."
"No I don't!" He retorted defiantly.
"Whatever." She replied. "Look," she began with a tone of irritation, crossing her arms, "Thanks for coming to visit and all, but you not only ruined my only shot at seeing fire works for the decade, you are trespassing on the grounds of my manor. I think you should go."
"You're right... gomenasai." Zeref apologized sheepishly. He looked to his friend and shrugged. "What can I say? Let's go, Logan."
The young purple haired boy simply nodded as the satisfied young heiress turned over in her bed. The two started for the window, not wanting to piss the young blonde off any further. Despite the danger outside, Mavis could very well yell for her made to come back and get them busted. They had a better chance at flying away than staying here.
Zeref stared blankly out of the window with Acnologia pondering their escape by his side.
"Mavis," Zeref began, continuing to stare out of the window.
"What?" She said bitterly, "I'm trying to sleep, you know. I have school in the morning."
"Can we…" he trailed off nervously. The young shapeshifter at his side looked to him, curious as to what he was going to say. "Can we start over?" He blurted quickly. Logan could see the blush on his face under the moonlight.
"Start over?" Mavis repeated curiously, sitting back up.
"Yeah." He said, turning to face her. "We got off to a bad start. I can… be a jerk. A real ass." He said matter-of-factly. "I've just… never had a friend before…" Catching the glare from Acnologia, he revised his statement, "A human friend before."
"He's not a human?!" Mavis exclaimed in surprise, both intrigued and weary.
"No, I'm a forest dweller." Acnologia said.
Mavis gave him a confused look.
"I'm a forest animal that can shape shift into whatever I want." He explained further.
"Oh." She replied blandly, still obviously uncomfortable with him.
He sighed.
"So what do you say?" Zeref asked, walking back over to her bedside with Logan in tow.
"Fine." She agreed. She took a deep breath before continuing, "Hi, I'm Mavis. I don't like being called a princess."
"Hi, I'm Zeref." The young black haired boy said. He scratched his head, looking for something else to say. "Um, I like animals."
The two shook hands and smiled.
"Hi, I'm Acnologia. I'm Zeref's partner in crime." He extended his hand expectedly, but was of course met with a sour look from the blonde. "And I'm not creepy!" He added with a blush.
Mavis just giggled and shook his hand. "It's nice to meet you, Acnologia."
"When I'm in human form, just call me Logan." He said, flashing a smile.
She nodded. "Here's to a new start!"
"Although, we still have the problem of getting out of here." Logan said, interrupting the mood.
Zeref sat down at the foot of the bed, noticeably stressed. Mavis began to think.
"You guys can use magic right?" Mavis asked curiously.
"Yeah, but not very powerful magic. I can just turn into shadows." Zeref answered.
"So that's why Matea didn't catch you…" Mavis said to herself. "And you?" She asked, looking at the so-called shapeshifter.
"I know a couple different forms…" Logan said, trailing off.
"Like?" Mavis asked excitedly.
"Why?" Logan asked, now mildly creeped out by her.
"Just answer the question." She replied grumpily.
"I can shape shift and alter memories. I'm in the process of trying to learn more things though."
"Perfect!" She exclaimed. Realizing how loud she was, she clasped a hand over her mouth.
"Why is that perfect?" Zeref asked.
"I've got the beginnings of a plan together!" She explained, a smug look on her face.
Zeref and Acnologia exchanged a glance.
"Tomorrow, I will sneak you out of the castle. I promise." She said determinedly, extending her pinky. "But on one condition."
"What is this condition?" The purple haired boy asked, not allowing the chance for Zeref to get them into something else.
"You have to help me learn magic!" She said, stars in her eyes.
The two simply stared back at her, taken off guard by her condition. As badly as Acnologia wanted to say no way, they had no other choice. Plus, she seemed so excited.
Sighing, Logan shook her pinky. "Deal, blondie."
Zeref, too, shook her pinky, sealing his part in the promise.
That night, they discussed everything from how they would escape and why the stars were in the sky to magic and what the purpose of this world was. This reintroduction melded the bonds of fate together and—unbeknownst to them—set them on the path to tragedy.
Oh ho! Another chapter rolled out! I'm super excited to continue, but-
Hi my readers! Here's the deal—there's a good chance I'm going to discontinue this story or wrap it pretty early. It doesn't generate a lot of interest and when I came up with it, Acnologia, Zeref and Mavis were all a mystery. Now, Mashima has already explained the origins of FT and I'm very satisfied with what he came up with of course. So, is this worth continuing? Should I just summarize all the stuff I came up with when I initially came up with this story? Let me know if you're still reading in the comments, but for now this story is on the back burner. I'll update it every once and awhile but for now I feel like there's no point tbh. I still love the idea, but… Idk anymore.
Anyways, for now have a great day. I'll see you next time. Please review! Oh and check me out on Instagram!
