Iris' P.O.V.
Bam! The sound of splintering planks caused me to flinch and duck behind a few barrels as the beast slammed its arms against the mast, causing it to shudder and tilt the ship at a deadly angle. Things started to roll off deck and plummeted into the icy waters along with screaming men as they clawed at the boards hopelessly. I managed to skid towards some stairs and clung to the hand-rail for dear life as the barrels that once shielded me tumbled after the men into the cold depts. My arms where burning with strain as the monster finally relent and released the mast to claim another part of the ship. This gave the surviving crew an opportunity as they scurried for harpoons and cannons and charged at the arms of the beast. Instantly the shouting got louder as battle cries where sounded followed by courageous head-on runs, impaling the arms of the beast as it gave a blood-curdling screech. As this was going on, I was sitting on my ass with my mouth open, looking very foolish as I could not help but stare like an imbecile. After a loud shot was sounded off by a cannon, I snapped out of my daze and stood, a thought finally forming within my head. I had to find Bozz.
Bozz's P.O.V.
"Daddy! wake up!" Cried a small voice as I was greeted by a small round face with big violet doe eyes, a smile on her little face as she giggled at my reluctance to rise. Her light brown hair in disarray as determination was now present in her eyes, tucking herself under my arm as she struggled to move the weight of it, in hopes of pulling me out of bed, but instead, only managed to pull my arm over the side. I chuckled as she scowled at my arm, her lips in a small pout as I pulled her beside me and kissed her temple. "Good morning little one." I smiled as I messed with her hair. She giggled and reached for my head, only to pat the area with her small hands enthusiastically, for I had none. I growled playfully at her as she climbed out of my arms and onto my back. I rolled so that I was on my chest, giving her better access to the area and not to crush her, or cause her to tumble to the floor as I thrashed about, causing her to squeal with joy... But the fun was short-lived as my chamber doors where opened, and a squire appeared, telling me that the king wished for an audience with me. I dismissed the young squire and stood, earning me a pitiful look from my child as her lips where shaped into another pout with her arms crossed over her chest. I sighed as I sat back down, pulling her onto my lap like I always to, ensuring her I would be back... But I didn't come soon enough... Flashes of red instantly changed the setting of the dream as screams where heard, terrible sounds echoing in every direction. I saw a dark room, a pool of blood, and a limp form on top of her small bed. I saw the king murdered by my hands, and myself retreating away from all the carnage with a small blooded bundle in my arms..
Slowly, I opened my eyes as pain instantly greeted me like a nice dunk in ice water. I winced painfully at both it and the recent dream as I tried to move myself. The sound of chains dwindled away any hope I had left of an attempt, and so I just hung there against the wall of the cell I was chained to, the damp wood irritating the wounds I had acquired from a recent whipping. Blood had stained most of my torso as deep gashes and cuts where evident, as well as a few bruises on my arms and probably my face. For hours I was tied down and beaten like a dog and laughed at for my repulsive face, but I was silent through most of the ordeal. It wasn't anything new. I heard a loud ruckus up in the deck above, and the next thing I knew, the ship was tilted! There I was, hanging by chains as I squirmed like a worm on a hook, and all I could do was wiggle pathetically in my chains before the bolts gave out from the molded wood and I plopped against the cell door with a pained groan as one of the bars managed to strike me in thy holy grail.
Slowly, I managed to stand and remove myself from the position, slumping over onto my back as I wheezed. Not a moment later, the ship tilted again and I was thrown to the ground with a thud as I groaned once more, only this time, it was my head. I winced as I struggled to stand, and at that moment, I heard the doors of the deck open, and slammed once more as scurrying could be heard, followed by nervous panting that sounded feminine.. My eyes widened as the person voiced herself.
"Bozz! Where are you!?" came a panicked whisper that I knew belonged to no one other then the red-headed wench. I turned my back to her as I surveyed the room franticly for something I could use. My eyes fell on an empty sack and I practically lunged for it, pulling it over my head, and tearing a strip so that I may see. Not long after, she found my cell and clutched the bars as she squinted against the darkness to try and me out.
"I am here." I answered as her face brightened before she tugged out a ring of keys from her sleeves, trying every key on the lock.
"What are you doing down here!?" I half whispered, half shouted as she continued to fumble through keys.
"Rescuing you, what do you think?" She hissed back, trying a copper key, but it, like the others, did not work as a scowl formed on her face.
"But how did you get down here? What is happening up there?" I inquired as I could do nothing at the moment, but wait until I was freed.
"The ship is under attack, Bozz! Gods! Its like nothing I've ever seen! It had arms that latch onto the ship and I think it could possibly haul us all into the sea!" By this time, she was shaking, but at the same time, she managed to find the right key as the lock clicked and the gate swung opened.
I stepped out of the cell into the candle light, and that was then she noticed the blood and the bruises. Her face held utter shock as I sighed and clasped a hand around her wrist and tugged her along towards the door to what ever hell was unleashed upon the crew above. She squirmed with fear as she realized where I was going as I dragged us back outside. To my luck, there was a sword just a few feet from us along with some man's arm, but I was thinking more of the sword rather then the torn limb when I released Iris and quickly dashed for the weapon. As soon as I had the blade in my hand, I was knocked over and slammed into the wall near Iris as a tentacle found its way on deck, ceasing the ledge as the ship was tilted once more. To my shock, I started to slide towards the beast now as Iris held on for dear life to the stairs the led bellow deck. I slammed the blade into the deck boards, clinging to it like a life line as the beast started to rise, its face now visible as a giant pale blue eye stared at us while its jaws where unclenched, releasing a frightening wail, exposing rings, yes rings, of sharp serrated teeth. Though I was literally dangling at danger, and probably my death, an idea some how still made its way to my head of how to take down the beast. Iris was shouting my name as she squealed, her board was loose! I knew what I had to do as new vigor fueled my body, and I let go...
I pulled the sword from the boards where it was wedged and turned my body towards the Kraken, avoiding the death that was it's mouth, and aimed for the vulnerability of its eye. I nearly missed as I clung to the side of it's beak, and hastily climbed towards the pale blue pool at the center of it's face. Without hesitating, I stabbed the whole blade into it's eye, and did it again and again as it screeched in pain, and just before it retreated back into the depts, I left the blade in it's eye and leaped for the ship, nearly missing as I clutched the railing desperately, getting soaked in the process as the beast sent a wave of ice water unto me.
Once more, the sea was calm, and I allowed myself to release a heavy breath as I shivered against the cold air. I heard quick-paced footsteps as Iris leaned over and saw that I was not dead. I saw relief in her eyes as she offered her hands and pulled me to deck. I was too tired, and to exhausted to think at this point, and ended up falling over on top of her, slumped against the deck with my clothed face wedged between the cold wood and her warm cheek.
"Thank-you.." I breathed as my breath became rhythmic as exhaustion took its toll on me, but I managed to gather enough strength to roll off before I crushed her. Everything was unnaturally quiet, but I welcomed it as I laid there freezing. Iris was rambling off about something of me being stupid and foolish, as well as mad and crazy for what I did, but I was too tired to argue right now, and I just wanted to sleep..
The last thing I remembered was Iris' fading voice as she stared down at me as panic evoked her before she kneeled down next to me, shaking me to remain awake, but I could not, and I did not want to..
Iris' P.O.V.
"Bozz!" I exclaimed to my horror as blood started to pool around his body, and his skin and lips became deathly blue. Quickly, I grabbed his arms and dragged him back bellow deck. As I was doing so, I saw a line of boats retreating from the ship in the distance. The crew had abandoned us.. I continued to drag him to the nearest cell and pushed him onto a cot before I went in search for supplies. I returned quickly with some blankets and created a thick layer over him to keep him warm while I started to tend to his wounds. I was still fearful at the sight of blood, but he needed my attention right now. It turned out he had injured himself when the Kraken flung him against the wall. He must of hit something and it tore into his back. I had him laying on his side with his back to me so I could work, stitching the large gap on the right of his shoulder blade as he murmured in his sleep. When I was finished, I carefully wrapped the wound in some clothe I gathered from one blanket and finally laid him down comfortably on his side, avoiding his wound for now. I watched as he slept, his closed eyes looked peaceful instead of calculating when they where open. It peeked my curiosity as I wanted to outstretch my hand and remove the sack that covered his face. I wanted to badly, but I thought better of it as I didn't want to intrude upon his privacy. After all, he had taken down a Kraken and saved us..
My mind soon wandered to what Bosa had spoken of about Bozz fancying me. I could not help as I felt warmth in my cheeks. 'You are being ridiculous, that will NEVER happen.' I thought.
My eyes grew tired as the candles slowly dimmed. I was afraid to go anywhere else on the ship, for I was certain we where now alone. Not wanting to stray too far from the only other person here with me, I rested my arms against the cot, and slowly drifted to sleep..
But unfortunately for me, I was wrong when I thought that we where alone..
Hallo my lufflies! I hope you enjoyed this chapter as it goes into more depth of Bozz's past, and Iris is finally realizing some feels! I know it's probably been forever since I updated, but JUST when I was getting back to my writing, I got addicted to some Watpad stories. T^T I hope this chapter makes up for it, and I'm peeved to say, I wont have a lot of time on me NO LONGA! For I am taking drivers ed. now and have homework on a daily for school. :c
Well, until we meet again some sunny day...
Demise.
