** I have decided that it is about time i made these chapters longer. so here you go enjoy**
Rubbing her eye's Hermione stretched in the little arm chair, the once roaring fire had died out and it was beginning to get dark outside. Rising from her chair Hermione noted how cold the room had become, looking at the fire she instinctively went to retrieve her wand from within her robes but found her pockets to be empty. Sighing she exited the room and headed towards where she assumed was her room. As Hermione walked through the little cottage it was clear to her that it had been uninhabited for quite some time as its corners held cobwebs, dust rested upon a lot of the surfaces and damp could be found upon a few of the walls. Hermione couldn't help but wonder who had previously lived here.
Entering her supposed room she noted her wand was resting upon the bedside table. As she went to retrieve her wand Hermione noticed a black and white photo of a couple on their wedding day. Hermione picked up the photo to study it in more detail, she could tell it was the same couple from the photo she had seen in the hall way. The man in the photo resembled Snape in many ways, they shared the same deep black eyes and prominent nose. Then suddenly it clicked she must be in Snape's grandparents house, but before Hermione could continue to dig she heard a bang in the kitchen.
She rushed down the corridor and pushed the door open to find Snape crumpled on the floor.
"Professor!" she shouted running to his side.
Snape grunted clearly in pain.
"Professor what happened to you?"
"No time... my room...blue bottle...silver serpent...now" was all Snape managed to say.
Without hesitation Hermione ran down the corridor but she had no idea which room was his. Pushing each door open as she passed them Hermione frantically searched for his room. At the end of the corridor one room remained pushing it open, she knew straight away it was Snape's room. Upon his dressing table there were multiple bottles.
"Accio Silver Serpent"
A blue bottle with a silver serpent running down it's side flew into Hermione's hands. She rushed back into the kitchen, but she stopped dead in her tracks as she reached the door. A pool of blood was beginning to form around the black heap on the floor. Snapes grunt brought her back to reality.
"Here you go Professor" she swiftly passed him the bottle.
Snape weakly took the bottle from Hermione and put it to his lips. Hermione stood back in awe noticing the blood around her Professor slowly begin to disappear. Snape's breathing began to ease and he looked up at her. She noticed his face was covered in cuts and bruises were beginning to form.
"Your assistance Granger" he asked weakly.
"Of course Sir"
Hermione put out her hand to help her Professor to his feet. She guided him towards the living room and aided him into the armchair.
"Scotch" he breathed.
"Do you really think that is a good idea Sir?"
"Just get me... some bloody... scotch" he said between breaths.
Understanding there was no point in arguing Hermione poured him a glass of firewhisky.
"Here"
He grunted in response and knocked the glass back. Hermione sat down in the chair opposite him and relit the fire. Silence fell upon the two. Hermione continued to examine Snape. His robes were ripped, mud covered his shoes and knees, yet his face remained expressionless. Taking a deep breath Hermione worked up the courage to ask him what the hell had happened.
"Professor, what happened to you?"
She watched as her Professor turned his attention to the now roaring fire.
"Impatient aren't we Miss Granger... a man has clearly been through... hell and back and yet you still strive to find out more" he responded, his usually silky voice seemed husky.
Hermione looked at the floor, even though he had clearly been badly hurt he could still be arrogant.
"I did not mean any offence Sir, I am just concerned" she snapped without meaning too.
Snape grunted. "Indeed"
Once more silence fell upon the pair.
Hermione noticed Snape was looking at her, but as she looked up to meet his gaze he looked back at the fire.
"I was ambushed Miss Granger" Snape finally spoke breaking the silence "a group of death eaters happened to be patrolling the area"
"how on earth did you escape?" she responded with a concerned look.
Snape sighed "Fortunately for me it was only a group of low rank death eaters, they attacked me assuming that I was a muggle"
"But you are in your robes Sir, and he who must not be named must of informed his troops of your treachery, how did they not recognise you"
"I had taken some polyjuice potion before I left and transfigured my robes"
"But why did you not protect yourself, you must be much more powerful than those death eaters?!"
"Because Miss Granger they thought I was a muggle, I could hardly take out my wand and defend myself! they would have most certainly followed me back up here as no wizards are supposed to reside in this muggle village and then where would we be?! Do you ever think girl!" he snapped.
"I was simply..." but hermione stopped herself from arguing back "never mind, I am glad you are well."
And with that she left the room.
