Chapter 11: Phone Call

-Xerneas' POV-

I was washing humanly dishes when he called.

"Xerneas?" His voice was cool and calm, but under that was excitement.

"Yes Arceus," I replied, rolling my eyes. "And I thought we agreed you would call me by my human name whenever you called me. You know how easily these things can be traced. You never know, Kyurem could be listening right now."
"Eh-hem. Sorry, Eve." He coughed.

"It's ok," I sighed, putting everything aside, and sitting on the humanly couch. "You were saying?"

"As I was saying." The godly Pokémon's voice grew excited with each word. "I saw them today!"
I groaned in frustration. "Arceus, I thought we agreed you wouldn't have any interaction until the fifth gym badge."

"I know," he replied in a childish voice. "But, I have a good reason!"

"I'm, listening." I sighed, propping my pale, peachy human feet up. I began to play with my black hair that was tied back by a fancy clip that represented my horns. The clip was gold and look sort of like tree branched, at the tips hung multiple colorful gems. I so much badly wanted to be a Pokémon again. Being a weak, powerless human with their pale skin and annoying hair growth, it gets tiring. After 16 years. It sure does.

"There is a new threat arising. Some humans by the name of Team Plasma. I think Kyurem has joined forces with them." Arceus explained, his tone filled with concern.

I sat up with a start. "What?!"

"I think Reshiram and Zekrom are in danger." He continued.

"But, they're just humans! What are they supposed to do?! How are they going to defend themselves? Arceus! It's only been a day! And! They don't even know how to fight! Let alone who they really are!"

"I know Xerneas. Which is why I had to see the," He replied, trying to calm my tense nerves.

"But, Arceus!" I stood up, looking around at the humanly house frantically, searching for some sort of an answer.

"Xerneas, its ok. Calm down." Arceus said. "Your job is basically over. You can go back to Kalos now."

"No." I said, as the most insane thought poured out my mouth. How dare I say no to Arceus, I should have known better? But something inside of me, something humanly, something motherly even, made me say it. I wasn't just going back to the safety of glorious Kalos while Reshiram and Zekrom were here, needing me. They were in danger, and they were oblivious to it! I wasn't going back just for my own good. Even if it costs me my own life, I was staying. I was staying for Reshiram and for Zekrom. Or should I say, I was staying for Aletea and for Anitan. They were my 'children' after all. As their 'mother' I wasn't going to just abandon them. I was staying. "No, Arceus. I'm staying. No matter what you say against it. I'm staying."

A laugh came from the other end of the line, catching me off guard. "That's the Xerneas I know. Did you know that those exact words you just said are the exact reason I chose you for the job. That is exactly why. I somehow knew this would happen. Thank you for being you, Xerneas."

"You're welcome Arceus." I blushed, then hung up the phone.

-Aletea's POV-

"Fern! Tackle!" I shouted as my snivy partner raced toward her opponent.

"Pansear. Ember!" Chilli commanded.

The two Pokémon were battling it out. And it was they were the last ones left of our parties.

I sighed, as sweat dripped down off my brow and onto my face.

"You can do it ALETEA!" Anitan screamed, showing off his new gym badge. "If you're going to beat me one day you have to overcome this small obstacle!"

"Yeah! GO ALETEA!" Cheren and Bianca both cheered.

I was doubled over on my knees. I was losing.

This one Pokémon would be the last thing that ended the battle.

"Snivy, sniv?" Fern glanced over in my direction, concerned.

I sighed. "Let's do this Fern." I stood up straight and glared at Chilli.

I yelled multiple moves while Chilli tried to keep up.

I was the winner in the end.

"Congrads!" Bianca cheered as I walked back toward the stands where the three of them sat.

"Thanks." I muttered, not looking up at them.

"Bravo Aletea." Cheren smiled.

Anitan grabbed the gym badge I had received minutes ago out of my hand and was looking it over. He pulled out his own and compared the two.

"What are you doing?" I asked, leaning my arm on his blacked haired head.

"…" He said nothing and leaned in closer to the two badges then jumped back in surprise. "Yours is shinier! WHY?!"

I laughed. "Because I just got mine, unlike you. You've had yours in your sweaty hand all day."

"It's not that sweaty." He muttered, giving back my badge.

The four of us walked out of the gym into the warm summer atmosphere.

When….

"LET ME GO!" Someone screamed as they fought furiously to get away from a strange person in medieval clothing.

I looked over at the scene, not really sure what to do.

"Come on." Anitan said, taking a step toward the scene.

"No." Cheren placed one hand on his shoulder and shook his head.

"But we have to help!" Anitan protested, trying to break away from Cheren's grip.

I stared, knowing that it was team Plasma holding the victim.

"Now, give me all your Pokémon and no one gets hurt!" The grunt threated, holding the kid's arm tighter.

"NEVER!" THE kid hollered, still trying to break free.

The next thing I knew was my feet were automatically running toward the scene. I caught them both off guard.

"ALETEA!" Bianca screamed from behind me.

I swung my bad as hard as I could. It collided with the grunt's face, as he fell to the ground with a sickening thud.
