A/N: Update! And I'll explain how L got to the hallway so fast, since people are wondering about it. L has been teaching the classes from inside Watari's office in the Administration building, which I've decided is right next to the Criminal Justice building. LOL So, basically, L just had to walk to the building next door.
In chapter 3, I mentioned L hanging out in Watari's office I think… That was a long time ago.
Well, anyway, on with the new chapter! And, THANKS FOR REVIEWING!
Chapter 11: Forgiveness
Light's heart skipped a beat as he stared at Ryuzaki across the hall. The pale man's black eyes scanned the crowd before quickly focusing on him. Light's breath hitched as panic bubbled up inside him. Ryuzaki had spotted him. When his roommate stepped toward him, Light immediately fled in the opposite direction.
"Light-kun, wait!" Ryuzaki chased after him.
Shoving his way through the crowd, Light hurried to the building's main exit. He had almost reached the double doors, when he felt a sudden yank on his wrist. Light jerked to a halt, then whipped around to glare at Ryuzaki.
"Let go of me!" Light ripped his arm away.
Ryuzaki looked very repentant with his large black eyes and bruised face.
"I only want to talk, Light-kun."
"I have nothing to say to you."
Light stormed out of the building while his roommate followed him.
"Where were you last night?" Ryuzaki asked.
"None of your business."
Suddenly, Ryuzaki stepped in front of Light, stopping him. "Whose clothes are you wearing?"
"A friend's."
His black eyes flashed with anger. "Mikami's?"
"So what if they are?" Light crossed his arms as he sneered, "Yeah, I stayed at Mikami's. Do you have a problem with that?"
Ryuzaki frowned. "Why didn't you answer any of my texts or calls?"
Light scoffed. "That's a bit obvious, don't you think?"
"Because we kissed-"
"We did not kiss. You kissed me."
Ryuzaki raised an eyebrow. "There is a difference?"
"Yes, there's a difference!"
"That is semantics, Light-kun. You participated in the kiss as well."
"No, I didn't!" Light hurried past him. "Just leave me alone."
"Light-kun, I apologize if my behavior had been…too forward."
"Too forward?" Light stopped and glared at Ryuzaki. "That's what you call it? You forced yourself on me."
"And Light-kun enjoyed it."
Heat rose to Light's face as he instantly recalled his incident in the shower. Embarrassment quickly turned to anger as Light clenched his fists. He was so close to punching Ryuzaki in the face again.
Shaking with fury, Light warned, "Get away from me, or I will hit you."
Ryuzaki looked distraught.
"Light-kun, I don't want to fight you."
"Then go away," Light spat before he stormed off.
This time Ryuzaki didn't follow him.

In Calculus class, Light couldn't focus at all. Luckily, he knew more about math than the professor did. His teacher was an idiot, who couldn't explain anything well. In high school, Light had already studied Calculus, so he wasn't missing any new information by ignoring the lecture. While the professor droned on, Light took his phone out of his pocket. He was curious about how much Ryuzaki had tried to contact him…
Light finally turned on his phone, then it immediately starting buzzing. It vibrated repeatedly as dozens and dozens of texts and calls appeared. Light gaped at the small screen in shock.
Ryuzaki had texted him 57 times, and he had called 84 times. Holy shit. Light had also missed calls and texts from his family.
Light scrolled through Ryuzaki's texts, reading over them.
'Where are you?' Sent from Ryuzaki
'Light-kun, I am sorry.' Sent from Ryuzaki
'Please come home.' Sent from Ryuzaki
'Light-kun, I'll leave the dorm for tonight. You don't have to see me.' Sent from Ryuzaki
'Answer me, please.' Sent from Ryuzaki
'Light-kun, where are you?' Sent from Ryuzaki
'I have searched all over campus and I can't find you.' Sent from Ryuzaki
'Did you go back to your parent's house?' Sent from Ryuzaki
'I called your house. I may have scared your parents.' Sent from Ryuzaki
'If you won't contact me, at least call your family. They are worried, too.' Sent from Ryuzaki
'Light-kun, are somewhere safe?' Sent from Ryuzaki
'Are you in a hospital? Did I hurt you badly in our fight?' Sent from Ryuzaki
'I will contact all the local hospitals.' Sent from Ryuzaki
'Light-kun, please tell me where you are.' Sent from Ryuzaki
'Please, Light-kun, I'm sorry.' Sent from Ryuzaki
Light set the phone down, taking in deep, shuddering breath. Ryuzaki had been worried sick last night. His texts had been so desperate and pleading… Light suddenly felt very guilty. He hadn't meant to worry anyone.
Light glanced through his other texts sent from his family.
'Light, your roommate called, looking for you. Where are you?' Sent from Dad
'Call home right now.' Sent from Dad
'Sweetie, where are you?' Sent from Mom
'Did something happen? Are you okay?' Sent from Mom
'Mom is really worried. Call her.' Sent from Sayu
'Light, where are you?!' Sent from Sayu
Shit. His family had been really worried, too. Light needed to call them. He flung his notebook in his backpack and left the classroom. Class was almost over anyway. Calling his family was more important.
In the hallway, Light called his family's home phone. It only rang twice, before his father answered.
"Hello?"
"Hi, Dad," Light greeted him nervously.
"You finally called… Took you long enough." His father sounded angry. "Ryuzaki just called us a few minutes ago. He told us you were all right. He didn't want us to worry."
"Oh…" Light shifted uncomfortably. "That was nice of him." Ryuzaki really didn't have to do that.
"Don't you ever disappear like that again!" His father ranted, "You know, I was about to drive all the way over there to look for you. I guess I can go to work now since I know you aren't dead."
Light winced. "Sorry, Dad."
"Talk to your mother," he grumbled before passing the phone.
"Light, you scared us to death!" His mother nagged, "And your poor roommate! He was looking everywhere for you. How could you do that to him? Ryuzaki is an angel!"
An angel? Really? Light rolled his eyes.
"I'm sorry, Mom. My phone was turned off."
"Well, keep it turned on! Or at least tell your roommate where you're going. Have you apologized to him yet?"
Light hesitated for moment, unsure if he heard correctly. "To Ryuzaki?"
"Yes! Have you?"
"No…"
"Well, you should. He was so worried. I can tell he really cares about you. He's such a sweetheart. Last night, he talked to me on the phone for almost an hour, trying to calm me down while he searched for you."
He did that? Light gazed down at the floor, feeling guilty.
"I'll apologize to him."
"Good," she huffed. "Do you have any classes today?"
"Yeah, my English class is starting soon."
"All right. I better let you go." She quickly added, "Oh, and tell Ryuzaki that he is welcome to visit us anytime. I'd love to meet him."
"…Okay." I'm not telling him that.
"Goodbye, Light. I'm glad you're okay."
He smiled. "Thanks, Mom. Bye."
Light finally ended the call and heaved a sigh. That conversation had been…interesting. His mother seemed to be a huge fan of Ryuzaki.

In English class, Light sat next to Mikami as usual. Instead of lecturing, the professor was playing a movie today. The classroom was dark while everyone watched the TV. Light took out his phone again. He hid the phone underneath his desk as he stared down at the small screen.
Light scrolled through Ryuzaki's long list of texts again. This time he read over them slowly, his eyes lingering on every word. Next to each text, he could see the time when it had been sent. From 10:35 PM to 8:52 AM, Ryuzaki had been texting him all throughout the night and well into the morning.
When Light reached the last text, he paused and stared at the message, reading it over and over.
'Please, Light-kun, I'm sorry.' Sent from Ryuzaki
Light had unbearable tightness in his chest as he gazed down at the message.
When Mikami glanced over at him, Light quickly put his phone away, then he looked at the TV, pretending to watch the movie. His thoughts were still focused on Ryuzaki… Honestly, Light was no longer angry at his roommate. Clearly, Light's disappearance had been punishment enough.
He remembered the time when Ryuzaki had disappeared for days. When Light couldn't find his roommate, he had been really worried, too. He understood what Ryuzaki had felt last night. The constant worrying… The agonizing self-blame… The fear that something terrible may have happened… Light understood all of it.
He didn't want to fight Ryuzaki anymore. He wanted everything to go back to the way it was before the kiss. If Light laid down some clear boundaries, perhaps he could reconcile with his roommate… He wanted to go back to his dorm.
After class, Light and Mikami stepped into the hallway.
"Do you want to come back to my apartment?" Mikami offered, "You can stay there as long as you like."
"No thanks. Actually, I…" Light hesitated for a moment. "I think I'll go back to my dorm."
"What?" Mikami demanded, "Why would you do that?"
Light shrugged and started walking away. "I'm going to forgive Ryuzaki."
Mikami followed him and snatched his arm. "But he attacked you! You can't go back to him."
Light winced as Mikami's grip tightened. Was Mikami trying to crush his arm? Light gave him a confused look. Behind his glasses, Mikami's gaze was piercing and intense. His behavior…wasn't right.
Light watched him cautiously. "Mikami-senpai, you're hurting my arm."
Mikami quickly released him. "You can't go back to your dorm. It's not safe."
"I talked to Ryuzaki. He doesn't want to fight anymore. We're just going to talk."
"And you actually believe him?!" Mikami shook with anger. "How can you trust that-that freak?!"
"Ryuzaki is my friend." Light glared at him. "I'm going home now."
He hurried down the hall and left the building. Light walked across campus, back to his dorm. The whole way there, he thought about what he would say to Ryuzaki. He needed boundaries. With boundaries, their friendship could probably be salvaged.
When Light entered his dorm, he found Ryuzaki perched on his bed with a laptop as usual.
Ryuzaki excitedly jumped off the bed.
"Light-kun-"
Light flung his backpack to the floor as he announced, "I will accept your apology on the following conditions."
Ryuzaki smiled. "Understood, Light-kun."
"First of all, we will never speak of the…incident again."
"The kiss?"
"The incident," Light corrected him. "Secondly and most importantly, you will no longer make any sexual comments or advances of any kind. From now on, you are asexual towards me."
"But I'm not asexual."
"Only towards me, you will be asexual. Any feelings you may have towards me will not be discussed ever. We are strictly platonic. Do you agree to my terms?"
Ryuzaki looked unhappy, but he agreed anyway. "Yes, Light-kun."
"Good." Light walked over to his desk, then glanced back at his roommate. "Also…I-I'm sorry for worrying you."
Ryuzaki gave him a knowing smirk. "Did Light-kun's mother make him say that?"
"No," he huffed as he sat down at his desk. "How much did you talk to my mother anyway?"
"Oh, I spoke to Mrs. Yagami on several subjects. We talked about Light-kun's classes, tennis, the café, cheesecake recipes-" A buzzing sound came from Ryuzaki's pocket, then he took out his phone. "She texted me again."
Light's eyes widened in shock. "My mom is texting you?"
"Yes, she wanted a report on you. I will tell her that Light-kun is behaving well."
Light gawked at him while Ryuzaki continued texting on his phone.
He announced, "Also, she invited me to your house for Christmas."
"What?"
###
After doing his homework, Light walked with Ryuzaki to the café. While they ate, Ryuzaki continued texting Light's mom. Eventually, Light had to steal his phone away from him. Ryuzaki found this amusing. After much bickering, Light gave the phone back to him.
When they returned to their dorm, Ryuzaki continued working on his laptop while Light took a shower in the community bathroom and changed clothes. It felt good to be wearing his own clothes again.
Back in his room, Light studied on his bed for a while. Last night, he hadn't slept well at Mikami's apartment. Soon, all the words in Light's textbook were blurring together. He was too tired to read anymore. Light dropped his textbook on the floor as he drifted to sleep.
Light was standing alone in the auditorium. It was dark and the only source of light came from the large projection screen. The white screen flickered on and off, alternating between pitch darkness and the gothic letter L. Below the screen, an empty desk was in front of Light.
Suddenly, Ryuzaki appeared on the desk as L's screen continued to flicker ominously.
He was perched directly in front of Light, his black eyes boring into him. Light stared at Ryuzaki in shock, mesmerized by his surreal presence. L's screen was still flickering above them.
"Light-kun." Ryuzaki grabbed onto him, pulling him closer.
Ryuzaki pressed their mouths together, kissing the teen. Light shuddering in response and latched onto the man's shoulders. Ryuzaki deepened the kiss as a jolt of pleasure shot through Light. He desperately tightened his grip on Ryuzaki as he moaned into the kiss. He wanted more. More. He feverishly kissed Ryuzaki back, opening his mouth wider for Ryuzaki's invasion.
While Ryuzaki plundered his mouth, Light sucked on the man's tongue, then he hungrily invading Ryuzaki's mouth as well. More. More. He needed more.
When Ryuzaki broke from the kiss, Light panted as he stared into his black eyes. Desire was still burning inside him. Light was aching for more contact, more of this amazing man in front of him.
Ryuzaki smirked. "Light-kun… You are mine."
Light woke with a gasp. He was in bed, staring up at the ceiling as his whole body trembled. What-What was that? His mind was reeling from the dream. His cheeks burned with a blush as he breathed rapidly, trying to catch his breath.
"Light-kun, are you all right?" Ryuzaki innocently watched him from across the room.
"Y-Yeah, just fine." Light sat up and glanced at his roommate.
His eyes focused on Ryuzaki's face, then his gaze lowered to the man's mouth. Images from his dream flashed through his mind as he spaced out. He couldn't pry his eyes away from Ryuzaki's mouth.
Ryuzaki seemed confused. "Light-kun?"
Light quickly shook his head and rushed to the door. "I'm going to the restroom."
He shut the door on his way out and hurried down the hall. His heart was pounding in his chest and his face was bright red. What the hell is wrong with me?! Light leaned against the wall as he tried to control his breathing. He was on the verge of hyperventilating.
The boundaries hadn't worked. Even though Ryuzaki agreed to behave himself, the bastard was still assaulting Light in his dreams. Light couldn't even be angry at the man. Ryuzaki hadn't done anything. It was Light's own mind tormenting him!
Light covered his face with his hands as he held his breath, then exhaled slowly. He needed to calm down. It was just a dream. Dreams don't mean anything.
Ryuzaki's voice echoed in his mind.
"Light-kun… You are mine."
Light trembled as a jolt of pleasure coursed through him. No! No, I don't understand this! How could Light enjoy hearing those words? It should revolt him, terrify him. Not turn him into a quivering, overexcited mess. Why is this happening to me?! Light didn't want Ryuzaki. He really didn't.
When Light heard a familiar buzzing, he took his phone out of his pocket.
'Liiiiiiight! Are you free tomorrow?' Sent from Amane Misa
Misa… Light stared down at his phone for a long time. Misa was the last girl he had kissed. She was interested in him. Maybe if Light dated her, she could help him forget this whole mess with Ryuzaki… Then Light could finally feel normal again.
Light called her number. The phone only rang once before Misa answered.
"Light! Misa-Misa is so happy you called!"
"Misa…" Light took a deep breath. "Let's go on a date."
Misa screeched into the phone, "Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay!"
A/N: Noooooooo! LOL
And, Light, I think your subconscious mind is trying to tell you something. LOL
Next time, the return of Misa…again
