Hello all! I'm back with another chapter for you all!
As always I DON'T OWN THE THUNDERBIRDS :( I ONLY OWN THE CHARACTERS THAT YOU DON'T RECOGNIZE.
Back Upstairs
Virginia is slowly becoming aware of what is happening around her. A dull pain. Foggy thoughts from her injuries, or was it the medications? Murmuring voices. People touching her, holding her hands. Just small things here and there before she loses her grip and slides back into the nothingness once more.
Jeff sits holding his daughter's when a few nurses come in and place another bed in the corner of the room. He is about to ask what the bed it for when his second son, John, comes into the room for the first time since they arrived at the hospital.
"Hey John."
"How is she?" John asks quietly.
"Very slowly improving." Jeff says
"Oh."
"Listen John, if you need to talk we can go somewhere or you can ask one of your brothers, okay?"
John just nods and reaches out slowly and takes Gina's free hand.
"Can I have a few minutes alone with her please?"
"Of course son, I'll go find your brothers. I'll be back soon."
John's POV
As my Dad leaves the room I feel the memories of the collapse wash over me once more, and I ask myself, "How do I tell them? How do I tell them that I heard everything? From both sides. That I heard Vigil's sobbing scream, Dad's shock, and Scott giving orders from the ground. But worst of all that I heard Virginia's terror and prayers once the building collapsed.
*Flashback*
The sound of crumpling steel fills the microphones from Thunderbird One. I sit in shock, terrified that she was gone forever like mom. Once the steel all but stops moving there is silence, then soft moaning and quiet words that I struggle to make out what they are. "God, it's me Virginia Tracy. Please I need your help. Please don't let me go. Don't take me yet. Pleaseā¦" Her prayers lasted a long time and were constantly interrupted by gasps for breath, winces in pain, and so on. When she passed out I found myself continuing her pleas to God to keep her here with us.
*End of Flashback*
'My family probably thinks that I don't care because I haven't been in here. But I can't just sit here looking at something that I could have avoided. I'm the only one that had radio contact with her and I froze. I never freeze!' John Thought.
"I swear to you Virginia, I will make this up to you. Please just wake up. Please."
With that John begins to sob. Clutching her hand he lays his head on the bed and begs her to wake up. And his tearful pleas are answered.
