If I said I don't anything before why would that change? Songs are Chasing Cars from Snow Patrol, I'm with you by Avril Lavigne and The only exception by Paramore.
Mitchie's POV
I sat on the bridge that stretched across the pond in the 'park' that Alex had shown me. I found myself coming here a lot more often, with Alex of course. She was laying down with her head in my lap as I played with her hair.
"If I lay here,If I just lay here, would you lie with me and just forget the world?" Alex spoke up quoting one of my favorite songs.
" I don't know who you are, but I'm with you" I returned the favor quoting one of hers. She smiled up at me and I returned it. We had been together for a week now, and I couldn't be happier. We sat in silence just enjoying each others company when Alex sat up suddenly. She got to her feet then pulled me up.
"Come on" She said excitedly and I giggled at her childishness.
"Where to?"
"I'm hungry, let's get something to eat" I rolled my eyes playfully. She was always hungry but she rarely admitted it. She was used to eating very seldom, and now she can have all the food she wants, it's just new to her. We held hands with our fingers intertwined as Alex led us out onto the town. We passed a few shops but she didn't seem so interested with them. We walked for a ways before she spotted a Mc Donalds down the street. I watched her eyes light up as she looked to me. I couldn't stop the smile that came to my face. She was just so adorable when she got excited over something small like that. We went in and ordered before getting our drinks. We had just been discussing bands and music.
"Look Mitch, Simple Plan is cool and all but Avril Lavigne is just way better on her own!"
"Fine, maybe but Paramore tops both" She thought for a moment before nodding in agreement.
"Excuse me, I'm looking for an Alex Russo?" A man with graying hair and a black suit came up to us looking between the two of us. He looked like he could be a lawyer, but how could he have found her in a Mc donalds? Especially when he obviously doesn't know what she looks like. I felt Alex shrink back into me, intimidated by this guy.
"May I ask who you are?" I asked the man and he turned to me.
"Ah Yes, Scott Markel. Ms. Russo, it seems your parents have left you a few things in their will." I looked to Alex who was shocked.
"Their will? I didn't even know they had one! And why now? It's been 5 years, why haven't I heard about this before?" Alex spoke up.
"It wasn't found till last month. We tried to reach you, but according to your brother, you were staying with a friend for the time being, and we had no way of contacting you."
"So how'd you find her now?" I asked him suspiciously.
"Well actually, we've been asking around, and we were told by an anonymous source that you were here today. Seeing as how you two are the only teens in here, it was kind of easy."
"Anonymous source? Who would know we were here? My parents don't even know!" I told Alex who seemed to think about it.
"I didn't get a name, but he seemed to know you two quite well. Now, if you'll have a seat, we can go over the will?" He asked gesturing to a booth. Right then it was announced that our order was ready so I went to get it and bring it back to the table. He sat on one side while Alex and I sat together opposite of him.
"Now as you know, your parents weren't really big on money but they still had a few possessions left to you and your brother Maximilian James Russo."
Alex's POV
"What about Justin?"
"He was left your families business." He said dismissively. "As for you, your parents left you two things." He snapped his fingers and another man walked up carrying a guitar case and a small box. Mr. Markel took the guitar case first and laid it on the table opening it. I expected to see mom's old acoustic guitar, but it was a red and black electric guitar with a couple of straps. Two were black, one had skulls, the other had a lightning bolt, and the last one was plain red.
"Whoa" I breathed out in awe. I took it out of the case carefully to admire it.
"Your mother left you this with a small message." He pulled out some papers and read them over. "Alex, I wanted you to know, you make me proud and I could never ask for a better daughter. Lord knows, I have enough sons, so this just makes you more special. I know of you're hopes and dreams, and I know you'll achieve them. With love, your mother; Theresa Russo." I was shocked. How did she know that? I've never said anything to anyone!
"And lastly from your father." Scott pulled took the box and handed it to me. I opened it and found an odd thing. It was a red cylindrical stick with a clear crystal like ball on the top.
"Whats this?" I asked him.
"We don't know, and there was no message from your father, only what you are holding. I took it out of the box and studied. Judging by the fact it looked polished and the box it was in was velvet, it must be important somehow.
We thanked the man as he bid us farewell and left. We ate in silence, both of us taking in what had just happened.
"So, there's no amp?" I said finally after a moment. Mitchie just shook her head. We were both looking at the guitar in front of us.
"Doesn't look like it, but its not like we can't afford one" She told me and I shook my head.
"I can't let you do that" I said finally turning to her as she faced me.
"Alex, it's fine. You literally work for me, trust me, you've earned it" I sighed still feeling bad. Her and her family have taken me in, bought me clothes, shoes, a new sweater, food, and a new phone! I've given my new number to max, since it's a new number Justin wont know if I try contacting him. I just shrugged it off deciding not to think about it.
"Whatever, let's just get back, Mr. and Mrs. Torres are probably wondering where we are."
"Really Alex? Mr. and Mrs. Torres?" She arched an eyebrow in that sexy way she always did.
"What? I work for them, I might as well address them formally." She rolled her eyes at me.
"Okay Ms. Butler, let's get going, I'll pack up your new guitar, you throw out the trash."
"Yes M'am" I said playfully and she shoved me with a chuckle.
When we got back, Mitchie's parents were nowhere to be found so we went up to her room. I sat on the bed and she started taking out my guitar.
"You should try this out. You know, adjust the straps and stuff" She told me handing it to me. I took it from her and put the strap with the skulls on it. I put the strap over my head and adjusted it.
"Mitch, how am I supposed to try this out? I don't even have an amp" She rolled her eyes again.
"Lex, you don't need the amp right now, you can play without it you know, it'll just be a lot quieter." I nodded before strumming a little. I found that it was already in tune.
"Go ahead, play something" Mitchie told me. I looked up at her.
"Is playing the electric guitar same as an acoustic?"
"The notes are the same if that's what you mean" I nodded before looking back down. I thought for a moment before I chose something. I strummed out the familiar tune I've known and found that I liked playing this better than the acoustic. It was different and i liked that. But I couldn't hear it very well so I set it down and took Mitchie's acoustic from the closet and started the same melody.
When I was younger I saw my daddy cry
And curse at the wind.
He broke his own heart and I watched
As he tried to reassemble it.
Mitchie smiled recognizing the song.
And my momma swore
That she would never let herself forget.
And that was the day that I promised
I'd never sing of love if it does not exist.
You are the only exception
You are the only excep-
I stopped as we heard a crash from downstairs. I looked at Mitchie the same time she looked at me. I set her guitar next to mine as we jumped up and ran down the stairs.
Max's POV
I shivered in the cold night air, wishing I had been smart enough to grab a jacket. Not like I would have thought of that then. Justin and I got in a huge argument about Alex and mom and dad. Things were said, well more like screamed, and I got kicked out. He inherited the shop and the house so if one of us left, its obviously me.
I turned another corner and was shoved roughly up against the wall.
"Hey kid, got any money on ya?" A man 3 times my size said in a threatning way.
"Erm. No" I said calmly.
"You don't sound so sure" He went further. I now noticed two other druggie looking guys behind him.
"I'm sure" I said sounding weirdly stoic.
"You making fun of me kid!?" Drug dude tightened his grip on my shirt, shoving me harder into the bricks. I raised an eyebrow.
"How is that making fun of you?" He looked like he was going to say something else when something crashed a few feet away. He losened his grip and I took the advantage and slipped past him running for my life.
"Hey get back here!" I heard him call and then their footsteps sounded meaning they were chasing me. I ran down an unfamiliar road when I tripped. I got back to my feet seeing they weren't that far behind. I looked ahead and decided running was pointless. I looked to see a gate with a control box next to it. I ran to it and slipped through putting my back to the wall. I listened as they ran past and I let out the breath I just realized I was holding. Once I was sure they were a good distance away I stepped forward about to leave the way I came when I was grabbed from behind.
"Well what do we have here?" I looked to see what looked like a security guard holding onto my shirt so that I couldn't escape.
"Ah Crap" I muttered.
