You have got to be kidding me! Just my luck, a bear decides to make a snack out me after I already had a bad day. What is this? Try to kill Rose day?
I quickly realized that I didn't have any weapons on me and that was never good. The bear was coming ever nearer as I tried to think of a way out of this mess. I did a quick scan of the area and realized that I was nearly helpless. Bears could climb trees if they really wanted to and could swim, so the trees and the lake were out of my choices. I could grab a branch and hit it with it at the risk of pissing it off more.
A charge filled that air and I knew that someone from my pack was here but I wasn't sure who it was that made such great time. Most were on other continents, we were on our break after all and we only got our break every couple months since the rest of the time we were hunting, so being with our families was a special time that I hated to interrupt.
It came to my mind who it was when I was tackled by the bear.
"James! That was so not funny! Change back you asshole!" I yelled while laughing. The bear slowly got off me and I sat up brushing myself off and caught my breath. When I turned back around there stood on of my best friends and pack mate James Jackson.
James was tall at six-four and had blond hair and blue eyes. He honestly looked like he belonged on the Californian beach, not on the battle field. I took a minute to think on how he was supposed to be in Northern Ontario with his family right now.
"James, how in the hell did you get here that fast?" I wondered aloud. He must have broken some serious speed limits to get here so fast since I was only out for a few hours thanks to Mark and Oksana. I had a hard time believing that he hadn't been pulled over by the police a few times on his way.
"I took my car just passed the border and left it at my bondmate's while I shifted and ran the rest of the way here. It seemed like you needed us. You blotted out the pack link for hours and we got worried so I came even faster." He replied gravely. "What happened?"
"I took too much darkness from a Spirit user who didn't have a bondmate. It had years to build up and didn't realized how much he had until it was too late" I responded hesitantly. If he told my dad, I was dead. Never going to see my next birthday dead. I laughed thinking about how I was more scared of facing my father than taking down 50 Strigoi by myself.
"Care to share what you find so funny Hathaway?"
"I was thinking about how Abe scares me more than Strigoi" I admitted through my laughter.
"He wouldn't scare you as much if you stopped doing such reckless things! At least make sure you have some of the pack with you next time. Because we all know that there will be a next time" He gave me a playful glare.
"I had Mark and Mikhail here! Not to mention their bond mates! I was fine!" I said hotly. I was known for my temper after all. He was still naked I realized and quickly dressed him in shadow clothes. I was the only one who was able to do this so far and with all the times clothing gets ruined on the job it was pretty damn helpful, not to mention helpful to the shifters. All it was was a thin layer of darkness fit to shape our bodies and take on the appearance of clothes. This anyone could see, and that was the whole point. This way he didn't have to walk through court naked or as a bear, although that might have been kinda funny to watch.
"Let's go get you some real clothes" I said softly breaking the building tension. We walked back to court and I let him into my room and found some of the clothes that I had for some of the other times that this had happened with one shifter or another. I gave him the White shirt and the Black sweat pants and told him to change in the bathroom when I heard a knock on my door.
I answered it as he slipped into the bathroom to put on the clothes. And what do you know there stood Lissa, Christian and Dimitri. I could tell from the bond that she was not pleased with me but had something to tell me that was taking the forefront of her mind. She kept it hidden though as if she wanted it to be a surprise. She should know by now that I kinda hate surprises though. I heard the bathroom door open behind me and suddenly James was at my side. I could tell that none of them saw that coming as all of their faces showed surprise. Although Dimitri's face was quickly becoming a mask of anger and I knew that he was going to blow up soon.
I was happy that I was able to surprise Liss when she came to surprise me that that feeling quickly faded as the tension grew thicker and James realized who was standing outside my door.
"BELIKOV!" He yelled in a rage.
"NO JAMES!" I yelled throwing power into the command. He stopped instantly and looked at me.
"You can kill him later" I told him silently hoping that he would forget about that when the time came.
"I will kill you for what you did to her Belikov, and that's a promise not a threat" He said before going back into my room to wait for me.
Thank you
I sent him silently through the pack link.
Don't thank me yet, I will kill him if he gets in my way. No one hurts you that bad and gets away with it.
He promised, and I knew that he meant it. I was glad that I had his backup if anything ever went wrong. I smiled and looked back at the three people outside my door ready to face what was coming once again.
I didn't mean to make you guys wait a month! Sorry! Is that what you thought was going to happen? 100 reviews…..wow. I'm at 100? Cool. Can I get 10 reviews this time? Please?
