3rd person pov

"Come on out ghost hunters! I bet you can't catch me!" Ember taunted in a bad impersonation of Emma's voice.

She fired up her fists and blasted several holes in the sidewalk by Fenton works, as well as demolishing their dumpster in the process.

"Maddie, there's another spook firing at our house."

"I've got it." the woman shouted nonchalantly.

Attacks on the Fenton household were quite regular now, and the novelty of hunting the perpetrators had worn off over a year ago- it was simply another chore to be done.

Ember knew this, of course, but she also knew that Emma would pike their interest since she had been avoiding capture by their son.

Maddie's eyes lit up as she observed the ghost girl, and her slumped shoulders straitened.

"Jack!" she called back into the house.

"We've got a big'un!"

"YAY!"

The big man came hurdling through the doorway, his meaty arms latched to an ecto-ray.

"I get first dibbs!"

Ember smiled and left Emma's body, laughing to herself as control returned to the girl only for her to find herself in the middle of a battleground.

"Ember, I swear…" Emma fumed silently as she dodged a blast from a rather large bazooka (with the word "Fenton" on it, of course.)

She rolled to the side and sent an ecto-blast their way, knocking the weapon from Maddie's shoulder and successfully unarming her as it smoldered into an unusable metal lump on the sidewalk.

Amusingly(for ember, who was watching invisibly from the sidelines) it also served as an ample distraction, for the molten ore glued the woman's feet to the ground.

"If she actually thinks I'm going to hurt these people…."

Emma lunged to the side to avoid jack's trigger-happy barrage.

In a single fluid move the girl sprinted forward and swept her feet under the orange giant, successfully grounding him.

Emma stood back up only to be faced by an angry red-head ghost huntress tightly grasping a light green rectangle a hairbreadth away from the ghost girl's face.

"PSHOOSH!"

Maddie released her hold on the rectangle and a neon-green net erupted from within, encircling Emma and sending a paralysis-inducing shock through her body.

"AAAHHHGG!" Emma cried out, her arms bound tight against her chest and eyes shut tight against the pain.

Her scream became more powerful by the second, and soon the sound had escalated into a full-blown ghostly wail.

With more than a little effort she forced her eyelids open, and watched in awe and amazement as the synthetic ropes melted away from the force of her scream.

Luckily Emma was facing away from Danny's house at this point, and the damage done was minimal when compared to what could have been wrought.

Jack and Maddie were on their knees, hands clasped over their ears and dazed expressions on their faces, and as her wail faded they slowly came to the realization this ghost girl may be a bigger fish than they'd first suspected.

Emma lay where she was and hyperventilated for a few moments, pretty sure danny's parents just tried to kill her.

Of course, she knew this was not the case.

They- thanks to ember- thought she was an evil ghost bent on provoking ghost hunters and their families, so most likely they were not actually trying to kill her.

I mean, you can't exactly kill a ghost, now can you?

With these thoughts running through her mind, Emma shook the fog from her head and began to back away slowly from the recovering hunters.

"Um…I'm…really sorry about all this." She spoke softly, just as she was about to fly away.

"Ember…well, she's my…boss…and she kinda made me…" Her explanation was met by wide eyes and

Blatant stares.

"You're apologizing..!"

"A… hostile… Ghost is…apologizing?"

"Um…yeah. Sorry I can't explain more… but, I will say this. I won't ever WILLINGLY hurt anyone. Not even ember…" she mumbled the last one quietly under her breath.

"What was that?" Jack asked, still disbelieving.

"Ah…nothing. I've already said too much, I'm sorry. Goodbye."

"Wait! I, we, don't even know your name!"

Emma turned, surprised.

She supposedly just attacked these people, and they wanted to know her name?

"You can call me Cinder. Cinder Light."

um...yeah. not my best chapter, and definitely not my longest, but at least it was...decent.
