Chapter Eleven: Witches and Wizards

ALECS POV

"What are you all dressed up for?" Izzy asked as he walked out of the bathroom.

She was sitting on his kitchen counter, swinging her legs and eating out of a jar of peanut butter.

"I'm not dressed up, I look normal." Alec insisted.

She shook her head and brandished her peanut butter spoon at him. "Nuh-uh. Your sweater has color in it, and is in one piece. Also, your jeans look like you might have actually not bought them in the middle ages."

"They didn't wear jeans in the middle ages."

"That's beside the point." She glared at him.

"Then what exactly is your point?" He asked, taking the peanut butter jar away from her.

"My point is you never get this dressed up, sooo….that means only one thing."

Alec raised an eyebrow. "My baby brother's got a hot date." She said giggling.

At this Alec's face flushed pink and he dropped the jar. "I do not! And how many times do I have to remind you, I'm OLDER than you. I'm not your baby brother."

"Yes you are! And yes you do! Why else would you have combed your hair and be wearing clothes that don't have holes in them."

Alec sighed and picked up the jar. There was no point in arguing with her. Izzy was like a human lie detector, especially when it came to relationship things. "Fine. I do have a date. But it's nothing fancy. We're just watching tv and eating take out from some thai place I think."

"Oooh he invited you over for netflix and chill." She giggled.

"Actually I think he owns the movies…." Alec said looking confused.

Izzy rolled her eyes and tried to smother her grin. "Its an expression...well...nevermind. You're too old."

"I'm only 22. You're only a year younger than me."

"You may be 22 but you act like 52. No 22 year old stays at home reading about history and has never been to a real party."

Alec glared at her. "Well excuse me for liking something other than celebrities and drinking."

"Hey! I like other things to jackwagon." She said, hissing.

This was a common argument between the two. Izzy thought Alec always acted too old, and needed to lighten up and Alec thought Izzy acted immature and needed to grow up sometimes. "Anyways." She said taking a deep breath. "Who is this mysterious man? Do I get to meet him?"

"No." Alec said firmly.

"Why not? At least tell me his name!" She whined.

"No! I can't. Besides, you'll get all Izzy on me. And we're not even officially dating. It's just one date."
"Fine. At least tell me what he's like."

Alec debated a bit, then decided to be as vague as possible. "Hes….interesting."

Izzy raised her eyebrow. "Good interesting, or bad interesting?"

"Good. Definately."

"Whats he look like?"

"Hes tall….and has really nice eyes that are like -" Immediately Alec began to blush and look away.

"Awww somebody's in loooooove." Izzy said, giggling.

"No! Just….No more about this! Go do your homework or something." He snapped, avoiding eye contact.

She smiled and hopped of the counter. "Okay mom. Fine I'll leave. But don't think you've heard the last of me!"

"I don't think I'll ever hear the last of you."

"Hey! I'm leaving now, so call me later." She said, walking to the door.

"Bye Iz!" Alec called over his shoulder.

"Bye! And I hope you score!" She called, shutting the door.

"IZZY!"

Magnus POV

Friday could not come soon enough. The week from when he got home from Syracuse was a nightmare. Since christmas eve was only about a month away, everyone was in full launch party mode, which meant lots of stress and yelling. And everyone was trying to get a hold of him to run things by him. Camille was in an especially bad mood and was making everybody's life miserable. By the time friday night rolled around, he had already put out 3 fires, literally, and felt like murdering a few hundred people.

Alec arrived at exactly 8:00, as usual. "You are...right on time." Magnus laughed, opening the door.

Alec glanced at his watch and shrugged. "Yeah I guess so. Why whats so funny?"

Magnus shook his head and took his coat, shutting the door behind him. "Nothing, you're just always exactly on time."

Alec glared at him. "Well being late is rude."

"I didn't say it was a bad thing! I think its endearing." He said, kissing his cheek.

This caused Alec to blush and look away. "So...what are we watching?" He asked, nervously.

"I'll give you a hint….Do DOOO do do doooo do doooo do doooo do do dooo do do." Magnus began singing.

"I don't know….is that like...Star Wars?" Alec said, looking confused.

Magnus stopped in his tracks, looking offended. "Star Wars?! STAR WARS?! Thats the Harry Potter theme!"

"Oh. I've never seen Harry Potter." Alec said walking over to the couch.

"You've never….You…..you haven't seen Harry Potter?! Alec it is the most amazing movie franchise of the century. EVERYBODY has seen Harry Potter! Even dogs have seen Harry Potter."

"Actually dogs can't watch tv. Their brains -"

"That's beside the point. The point is you haven't lived until you've seen these movies."

"Magnus you said that about fro-yo on wednesday, and lindor chocolate the day before that."

"Well chocolate and fro yo are two things that are very important. I can't believe you've never seen Harry Potter." Magnus said, shaking his head.

"Hey I told you! I grew up with super christian parents. They thought it promoted witchcraft so they never let us watch it."

"Well, you, my darling, are about to endure the most amazing 19 hours of your life." He said, sitting down and turning on the tv.

"I don't understand..why is everyone freaking out?" Alec said.

"Because he was talking to the snake."

"But their wizards? Isn't that like….normal for them?"

"No! Theres only a few people who can speak to snakes. They'll explain it later."

"Does it have something to do with the floating head thing?"

"How many times do I have to tell you its not the floating head its Voldemort."

"Well then why was his head floating?"

"It wasn't! Just shhhh….shhhh." Magnus said exaspertedly putting a hand over his mouth.

They had finished the first movie, and were now onto the second one. Magnus was lying on the couch with Alec next to him. His arms were around Alec's waist, and Alec's head was resting on his chest. "Ugh the food should be here by now," Magnus complained, checking his watch.

"What'd you order?" Alec asked, lifting his head to look up.

"I ordered some food from this little tiny restaurant that I used to go right after I started living on my own. Its called Taki's, its here in Brooklyn."

"Taki's?" Alec asked, sitting up.

"Yeah have you heard of it?"
"Yeah! I used to go in there all the time when I was in college! My siblings and I would meet there a lot."

"Wait really? The one right off campus?"

"Yeah! I went to Brooklyn College so it was close to home."

Magnus laughed. "Well what are the odds."

Alec smiled and layed back down. "Yeah" he muttered.

The rest of the night was spent arguing over various things in the movie, like whether or not Magnus could take Albus Dumbledore in a fight, and how exactly the time turner in the Prisoner of Azkaban worked.
