Hello! Okay, brief explanation. The 9nth chapter was actually supposed to be the last one, but I changed my mind at the last minute. I had this chapter as my rough draft for my finale and thought you guys might enjoy to read what could have been. However, I know have inspiration and will keep writing this for a bit longer. Anywho, enough about me prattling on and on. Please enjoy this! :D

Warning: Extremely short and is in no way a continuation of the last chapter. I also do not own Hetalia or the characters, please enjoy!

The Maple Leaf Crown Chapter 9: Another Version

Liechtenstein stared at the beet-red Canadian nation for a moment before a small smile crept onto her face. With a tiny giggle, she gave him a big hug and laughed outright when he gave a surprised yelp. Everyone around them clapping and grinning like complete idiots. The noise got louder when Canada returned her hug—completely and utterly happy that she had chosen him.

"Did big bruder say this was okay?" She pulled herself away reluctantly and looked worriedly into his violet eyes. Liechtenstein did not want Canada riddled with holes because he simply forgot to ask first. Switzerland was known for 'shoot first ask questions later' policy. He looked at, confused, before chuckling softly. The female nation was bewildered yet comforted by his lack of apparent dread. Canada took her hand and pulled her closer to him, ignoring the approving sound of the crowd.

"He did, but I forgot to ask for you permission so I set this up to ask you...is that okay?" Liechtenstein gasped quietly and felt her cheeks start to heat up. He was brave enough to do that for her? The crowd made some more cooing noises before going back to minding their own business. Relieved that the onlookers and not-so-silent pressure was gone, Canada immediately relaxed as his once calm face turned tomato red again. He quickly released her hand and turned his face downwards, embarrassed by his actions.

"Thank you for allowing me to be your guardian, Liechtenstein. I promise to take good care of you forever...I mean, until your brother comes back for you." He whispered as he once again pulled her closer, taking comfort in her small warmth. When the Canadian nation reached the word 'forever' his face turned an even brighter shade of red, before he hurriedly finished up his sentence. Liechtenstein looked up at him for a moment before she timidly held out her pinky.

"Promise?" Liechtenstein's eyes sparkled up at him, cheerfully signifying her understanding. With a large grin, Canada shook her pinky as solemnly as he possibly could—earning a giggle from her.

"I promise." She smiled at him again and leaned forward. She gave a really quick peck on the cheek, curtsied prettily, and gingerly ran away—hoping to hide her warm cheeks. The Canadian nation watched her leave with a slightly dazed expression and a maple-leaf colored face. He put a hand to his cheek as he felt a ridiculous grin spread across his features. He could definitely get used to getting a kiss like that every day. Suddenly, his cellphone went off rather loudly and attracted more attention. Canada quickly outside to his car, his curl bouncing along with him. Completely ignoring his ringing phone, he opened his car door to see Liechtenstein cuddled up against the window. She looked so peaceful that he softly closed the door and stood outside to talk to his loud brother.

"Hello Canadia! How did it go?" His...voice echoed through the nearly empty parking lot. Canada sighed at the mispronunciation of his name as he held the phone a safe distance away. It was like receiving a phone call from Sealand, at least the child remembered his name.

"She said yes America...now would you please be quieter, she is sleeping." Canada looked at her with a worried expression as the American nation laughed excitedly, probably waking dead people at China's place, hoping that she wouldn't wake up. He was so preoccupied watching her that he missed his brother's question and gave a distracted 'yes'. Bad decision.

"Okay, so dude, Poland and Hungary will come and help her choose a dress tomorrow at 10 in the morning." Wait...Canada suddenly snapped back to attention at the mention of a dress. How many times does America need to be told? He was not getting married to Liechtenstein...yet. The Canadian opened his mouth to speak before his brother got too carried away and sent invitations out. He doubted a wedding invitation would settle well with Switzerland.

"No, no, no. No wedding dress tomorrow. We are not getting married!" He firmly shut his cellphone closed and opened the car door—only to see his new ward almost smirking at him in what was probably a sleepy grin. Canada panicked, felt his face burn once again in embarrassment, and grabbed his vibrating phone to distract himself. Hoping to hide his maroon face, he opened his brand new message as Liechtenstein put a soft hand on his arm.

"What bruder doesn't know..."Her soft voice, still laden with sleep, overlapped with America's text seamlessly. "...will not hurt him Canada." The male country smiled at the female nation before fondly patting her head. Liechtenstein gripped his hand as he carefully texted back with his other.

"Thanks for everything and bring them by at 11 instead."
