J = Just Me

Crappy Christmas music played from the speakers, everyone was at least a foot away from each other on the dance floor, and Maka was standing over there. Right. Over. There. Right there... And I could just ask for a dance. I totally could. But then... She looks fucking gorgeous. And she's talking with Kid. I could... I could never compete against him... He's like the - the perfect person. He's likable and smart and funny and everyone - girl and guy alike - swoon over him.

And he'd be absolutely perfect for Maka.

"S-Soul, can you get me a drink please?"

I raised an eyebrow at the slight slur of Tsubaki's words and her soft giggle at the end of her sentence. Apparently Blackstar already spiked the juice. I nod and chuckled under my breathe. "One juice for the lady. Blackstar, anything you want?"

"Get me like, four more." He grinned and sat back in his chair, seemingly unaffected even though he had numerous cups surrounding him.

I nodded and slid my hands in my pockets and hunched over, walking slowly to the punch bowl. I should've at least Tried to ask her out, right? I mean, the worst she could've done was say no. Or give me a pity date. I grab a couple cups, pouring the spiked fruity deliciousness into it.

"Can I have one?"

I froze. That soft gentle voice could only belong to - "Maka," I breathed out. I turned to look at her, and she. She looked gorgeous from up close. Her hair was in an updo and her dress was breathtaking. She could probably make just about anything look good on her though.

She smiled softly up at me and I smiled back down at her. "Sure, it's spiked though."

She winked and shook the empty cup in her hand. "I know."

I laughed, just a bit baffled that she was letting loose for once... and that she was talking to me. Both were nice.

"I - I probably wouldn't be here if it wasn't for the alcoholic assistance either."

"What?" I quirked an eyebrow and looked at her. She was blushing softly and wrung her hands together, cup placed on the table.

"Would... Soul, would you like to dance? With me I mean?" She bit her lip and looked up at me with there huge green eyes and I just -

"I was dying to ask you that all night," I said softly as I set the cups down gently. "You sure? It's just me you know... I don't even know if I'm good at dancing."

She scoffed and grabbed my hand. "Well lucky for you, I like "just you"."

I grinned.
