The next morning, once Clary's alarm went off, she slowly got up. All that sh could think about was what Jace said, so she didn't notice that she was still in her P.J.s when she walked into the bathroom. Once she was out of her daze, she looked in the mirror and said, "Shoot," then rushed back to her room to change into her clothes.

When she went into the kitchen for breakfast, she saw Luke with a book and her mom by the stove making bacon and eggs. "How was your date, sweetie?" Jocelyn said as she quickly looked over her shoulder at her daughter.

"It was good. I had a lot of fun. It kind of felt like just a normal date, you know, which would make sense."

"He was a gentleman, right?" Luke put his book down and waited for her to answer his question.

"Of course. Come on, you know Jace. He's always a gentleman. But there was something strange that happened."

Worried, Jocelyn turned off the stove and cam to sit next to her husband. "What is it sweetie?"

"Well, when he dropped me off he told me why he came to New York in the first place. He said he was looking for the Morgenstern girl; he was looking for me. Apparently, someone dangerous is coming after me."

"What!" Luke shouted. "Is this some kind of a joke?"

"No, Jace would never lie about something like that. But that's not the only thing. He said that the person's name was Jonathon. I was wondering if you guys new a Jonathon. The only one I can think of is Jace, but for some reason, I have a feeling that I know another one."

Jocelyn looked over at Luke with terror in her eyes. "It couldn't be him, Luke. He died in the fire with his father," she said to her husband as if readying his mind.

"It's possible, Jocelyn. Valentine was a twisted man. Twisted enough to fake his son's death, possibly his own too."

"Wait, Valentine?" Clary interrupted, "As in my father Valentine?"

"Clary, if what Jace told you was true and you are in danger, I never want you alone. Always be with some, can you do that for us?" Jocelyn quickly told her daughter.

"Wait, what's going on?"

"Clary," Jocelyn began, "there is a large possibility that what we know to be true really isn't. We all thought that Valentine and your brother, Jonathon, died in a fire when I was pregnant with you. But Jace is saying that was not what happened. They might be out there and if Jonathon is anything like Valentine, they both will be extremely dangerous. I want you to always carry your stele with you and always have a weapon."

Clary had never seen her mom this worried, which caused her to worry. All of a sudden, she felt the need to get out of there. "I have to go," she said. She rushed to her room to grab her stele and a weapon and left the apartment before her parents could say anything else.

Clary didn't know where she was going until she was at the front gate of the institute. She walked in and shouted, "Jace! Jace!"

When she heard footsteps, she turned around and sighed when she saw Alec. "What are you doing here?" He asked as he studied her distressed form.

"Where's Jace?"

"He just got up. His room is down the hall fifth door to the left."

"Thanks Alec."

"Clary are you alright? Do want me to go get Isabelle?"

"No I just need to see Jace." She walked down the hall and went into Jace's room without knocking. "Jace?"

"Clary what are you doing here?" Jace said as he walked over to her, with just a pair of jeans on.

Letting her hands run over the runes on his torso she had never seen before, she whispered, "I needed to see you."

Lifting her chin up so that their eyes met, he asked, "Does this have to do with what I told you last night?"

"I'll tell you later, but right now I just want you to hold me." She stood on her tippy toes and kissed him. He picked her up and laid her in his bed. Once he wrapped his arms around her, he kissed her forehead and they both fell asleep instantly.
