A/N:

I have finally returned to the Restoration Committee, after six whole drabbles of messing around with other people.

This is a blatant Squall x Rinoa thing, since I don't know enough about the guys to go beyond the typical FF canon. nvn

Inspiration from that one scene in the KHII credits.

"Leon," a light voice called from downstairs. "There's a letter for you."

The bedsprings creaked as Leon rolled over to face the doorway. He was resting in his room, since the battle against multiple literal tons of Heartless had taken place only a few days ago and he was still feeling it. You'd think only old people could be this sore even after several Curagas.

"Yeah, mhm comin', Aerith," he called back, not feeling up to enunciating properly.

Groaning some, Leon managed to roll some more until he reached the edge of the bed. Then he summoned up the energy to actually sit up, which took a couple of seconds. More time to stand and walk, which added up to a grand total of several minutes to finally reach the bottom of the stairs.

"You're such a slowpoke, Leon," Yuffie teased as he shuffled past her in the kitchen.

"Shut up, Yuffie," he replied in a not unfriendly way.

Leon continued forward, taking another minute to reach the little hub where Cid monitored the claymore system – and where they had also eventually set up their dining table and a couch because trouble waits for no soldier.

"The letter?" Leon asked, seeing Aerith waiting patiently near Cid, who was still hunched over the computers even though the Heartless were rarely an issue anymore.

She walked up to him and held out a simple envelope. It had no markings on it except for a pair of flowing letters on the front: "S.L."

Frowning, Leon glanced at both sides to make sure he wasn't missing anything before sliding out a plain white card. He opened it, quickly scanning the inside. His mouth suddenly felt like dropping.

Still yours.

Love, R.H.

"W-where did you get this?" Leon managed to croak out.

Before Aerith could reply, there was a burst of light from the card. A pair of blue angel wings fluttered out from the inside of it like a butterfly and up into the air, vanishing as it did so. Another look at the card confirmed it – the few words had disappeared.

"I had been tending to one of the gardens," Aerith then said carefully. "I turned, and there it was – resting on top of some flowers."

"Just suddenly there, huh," Leon muttered under his breath.

And of course, all of his weariness was gone like it had never been there.
