They headed back to their flat, the first thing the blonde did was flop back on the sofa. The raven-haired had noticed that his master had been an even lazier prat than he was when he was in Camelot. It made him wonder if this was the right king he was destined for. A thousand years of waiting for a man to return who spent half the time waiting.
"Well that was pointless." Arthur mumbled from a pillow.
"No… it wasn't." Merlin said his forehead lined deeply with creases from thought. "This Celia…" he said before rushing over to his bedroom. He returned a mere fifteen seconds later with a laptop in his hands. Arthur, who had not yet seen the newly brought device, looked at it with confusion.
"What is that?"
"It's basically a TV with a keyboard, never liked them, people use them to look at videos of cats, but for once, it may be useful."
He slowly lifted the lid and a homepage hit them. Merlin used his finger and slid it across a small square below the keyboard and clicked on a blue circle with red, yellow and green surrounding it. Google popped up. Merlin wrote 'Celia Emrise' in the search bar. A BBC news report was the first thing to come up.
'Celia Emrise has been missing for over a month now and the Emrise family have been making desperate actions for at least a phone call from their loved one.
"It's been hard, first James (Celia's father) tragically being taken away from us, now it's just me looking after my two girls with my darling Celia out there alone, we fear she may be hurt or worse. It's the foulest thing that can happen to a widow and a mother; I just want to feel her in my arms again
"Celia, if you are hearing this, can you please come home, Lucy, Cathy (Celia's sisters) and I need you; we miss your smile and sense of humour that used to lighten my day. We need you here, we can all grieve together. You don't have to feel alone. Your father loved you and wouldn't want you feeling abandoned."
Police suspect that the 18 year old ran away because of her father's death, there is no evidence that she was a part of the incident, Celia and her father were extremely close according to mother Stephanie. Police are still trying to receive evidence for her whereabouts but she has not yet been sighted on any CCTV cameras or none of her belongings have been found. Police are confident that they can still get Celia home safely.'
Merlin read out. He tapped his finger on the bottom of the keyboard and frowned.
"Celia Emrise…" Arthur heard the voice of Gaius in his head.
"C.E." Lancelot replied.
"C.E." Arthur repeated.
"C.E." Merlin said in confusion but then his eyes widened. "C.E."
"The locket!" Merlin said with unison with Gwaine. He rushed out of the room again and into his bedroom.
"I told you that locket had something to do with it Perce!" Gwaine said excitedly.
"Yeah well done detective, well done for repeating it from Leon."
"Shut up." The knight muttered.
Merlin came back into the room with the locket.
"It's hers." He said in a slightly frightened yet excited voice.
"Celia's? She was in the house?"
"They knew her, both victims of both crimes."
"Is she evil?"
"I don't know…maybe she didn't do it on purpose. This locket… I couldn't open it, not even with magic."
"So she's a sorceress?"
"Seems like it." Merlin said trying to sound confident but the young servant's master heard the shakiness in the young yet old warlock's voice.
"Look," Arthur said putting both his hands firmly on the raven-hair's shoulders. "Whatever this is we can deal with it. I am… I was the king of Camelot and you're…whatever these old religion people say you are, back in Camelot this happened on a weekly business, nothing this Celia is capable off is something we haven't handled before." Merlin smiled lightly but still wasn't convinced.
"What if this was the reason you came back? The Great Dragon told me that you would rise again when Albion's need is at its greatest… she could be really dangerous Arthur. I can't let that happen, me being to kind and naïve as I was back then, with Mordred, Morgana…all the other traitors I let in and helped."
"We won't, we'll find the pattern between these attacks."
"Pattern?"
"Yeah, there's got to be a pattern." Merlin frowned.
"If she's powerful, as I'm dreading she is, then she'll know to cover up her tracks."
"Then we'll uncover those tracks, nothings save for long if you keep picking at it."
"I suppose your right but I don't want to cause harm to the last remaining relative or my kin, I can't lose them all again." Merlin said looking down. Arthur patted his friend on the back; he knew that Merlin had gone through some traumatic changes in his life that he didn't want to share. He knew that the warlock was no longer a cheery, silly looking boy that used to be mistaken for a fool. That Merlin was gone. However much Arthur missed him, he knew that Merlin's past self was long gone, around a thousand years ago to be precise. Time changes people and time had, had a lot of spare time to change and evolve his servant. But no matter how dark or miserable the future days for the sorcerer became, Arthur knew that he could not let his friend down, he had a thousand years to repay for and maybe this would help, even if it was a small portion of what the broken friend of his deserved.
"Who knows, maybe she is innocent and just needs our help, we won't have to harm her, just help her understand." The king grinned down at his servant.
The king, of who the servant had been waiting for, had returned and it was time for them to save Albion.
